Cheerleader to Palin: “Do You Do Jokes?”

Marietta, OH–After her rally at Marietta College, Sarah Palin went to their football field to watch a pee wee football game. The Palins stopped by the game, which was played by boys in 4th through 6th grade.

Families in the bleachers cheered for Palin as she walked on the field and the football players were so excited to meet the GOP Vice-Presidential candidate they were jumping and shouting over each other to get to talk to Palin. The Bobcats vs. the Hawks took a break from their game to greet the Alaska governor.

The Bobcats ran over first and Palin affectionately tapped their helmets and said, “Do well!”

The Hawks in bright kelly green jerseys jumped up and down shouting, “I’m safety!” “I’m the quarterback!” “I’m the fastest!”

Palin tapped their helmets as well and said, “Stay in sports that’s the truth!”

The highlight of the brief visit were the Hawks cheerleaders–one adventurous cheerleader asked Palin, “Do you do jokes?”

Palin responded smiling, “Do I do jokes? Only on Saturday Night Live. You will have to tell me a joke.”

The same girl wasn’t done with her questions for John McCain’s number two, “Wait can we ask you a question? Who do you want to win this?

Palin was put on the spot by the pintsized inquisitor, but attempted to remain bi-partisan.

“Don’t ask me that! I want it to be a close game. I want it to be a tie,” Palin said.

She patted the girls on the back and said, “Go Hawks and the other team too! Play fair!”

Palin trotted off the field to families in the bleachers shouting, “Bye Sarah!”

According to Palin Spokesperson Tracey Schmitt, Palin wanted to stop at the game because her daughters, Bristol and Willow played pee wee football and son, Track played football throughout school and they love to support youth sports.

That’s really interesting. When you stop to think about it, it’s true. In her entire two month campaign, Sarah has told a total of one joke: the one about Alex Baldwin’s brother. She has the most poorly developed sense of humour of anyone I know.

I am a white woman in my 60’s from Indiana.

I am registered as a Democrat but I believe I would be more aptly described as an Independent. I have never voted for the party but have always voted for the candidate and their stance on the major issues. I have voted in every election since I was first eligible. Never in all those elections was I as passionate as I am about this election.

I first saw Barack Obama on TV during the 2004 democratic convention and admired the wonderful speech he gave. My knowledge of John McCain was limited to his time as a Prisoner of War so I didn’t know much about him and his policies.

After the presidential primary, I have read everything imaginable about Barack Obama and John McCain so I have definitely done my research.

I was leaning toward voting for Barack Obama but was still unsure until several things swayed me totally away from John McCain:

When John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential candidate, I was totally astounded that he would pick a total unknown after meeting her for 15 minutes and I was thoroughly insulted that McCain thought by picking Sarah that he would appeal to the women voters. I was angry that he thought women voters would vote for Sarah because of her gender and that he thought that women voters didn’t have the sense to sort through and vote for the issues. I was even angrier the more I listened to Sarah Palin and knew that she was not ready for, prepared for or intelligent enough for the Vice Presidency.

I was originally impressed that John McCain said he would run a clean campaign. Then shortly after picking Sarah Palin, he (and Sarah) started in with the personal attacks on Barack Obama. It was very disheartening hearing all the things he was throwing at Barack Obama when people really only wanted to hear what he thought on the issues. It was Karl Rove campaign tactics at their best.

I have been absolutely impressed that Barack Obama has run a campaign free of personal attacks on John McCain and has run his campaign with knowledge, wisdom, honesty and integrity when he had so many things he could have brought up about John McCain and Sarah Palin. Has has attacked John McCain on the issues but he has continued to campaign and lay out his plans for the presidency while John McCain and Sarah Palin have continued on their campaign to personally attack Barack Obama while skirting around the issues.

I have heard all of the personal attacks John McCain has thrown at Barack Obama mostly concerning people he had associated with in the past but also attacks were made about Obama’s faith and religion. As these attacks continued day after day, I read more about John McCain, I found out that he had been chasing Cindy McCain while still married to his first wife who had been seriously injured and crippled in an auto accident.

I read about his involvement and friendship with G. Gordon Liddy who was imprisoned for his part in the Watergate burglary. That’s just one element of what Liddy did, and proposed to do, in a secret White House effort to subvert the Constitution. When asked about his connection to G. Gordon Liddy in an interview the other day, John McCain said “yes, I’ve met him”. When pressed, he admitted that “yes, he did know him”. In fact, in 1998 Liddy’s home was the site of a McCain fundraiser. Over the years, Liddy has made many contributions to the Senator’s campaigns. Last November when McCain was on Liddy’s radio show, Liddy greated John as “an old friend” and McCain said to Liddy: “I’m proud of you, I’m proud of your family. It’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great”.

I also read about John McCain’s part in the Keating 5 Savings and Loan scandal that cost taxpayers $2.6 billion. McCain was found guilty by the Senate Ethics Committee of using “poor judgement” for attending meetings with regulators on Keating’s behalf.

Carl Lindner, Chairman of American Financial Group and former chairman of Chiquita International, made his fortune from the savings and loan industry and junk bonds. In 2008. Lindner raised over $2 million for McCain’s Presidential campaign. Lindner also serves on McCain’s Ohio Victory Team. Carl Lindner was recently implicated in a scandal where he oversaw the payment by Chiquita and its executives of roughly $1.7 million to a Columbian paramilitary group that was designated a terrorist organization. Chiquita made similar payments to the leftist FARC and ELN guerillas during Lindner’s oversight.

The Republican National Committee spent over $150,000 in the month of September on clothing, hair cuts and makeup for Sarah Palin. And she didn’t spend that money at Walmart, JC Penney, Goody’s or Kohl’s. No, she spent it at Neiman Marcus and Saks 5th Avenue. Does this not even bother you a bit when people have lost jobs, lost their 401K’s, seniors have lost money, people have no insurance? For her to spend $150,000 is a slap in the face to all Americans who are hurting right now.

The investigation by the Alaskan Legislature just found Sarah Palin guilty of abuse of power and ethics violation. Then Sarah Palin went on national TV saying that they had found her not guilty.

It has just been reported that Sarah Palin has been taking her children on official business trips and Alaskan citizens have picked up the tab for separate hotel rooms for the kids.

Barack Obama had every right to retaliate against the unfair treatment by John McCain and Sarah Palin but never once did he bring up any of these things or personally attack either John McCain or Sarah Palin..

Have you or anyone in your family lost a job lately? I live in a small town in Indiana where we have lost thousands of jobs to the housing slow-down but mostly to jobs being sent to foreign countries. My daughter lost her high-paying job due to the housing slow-down. I have several relatives who have lost their manufacturing jobs to foreign countries; however, John McCain has always supported and continues to supports giving tax cuts to those companies who send jobs overseas. Barack Obama wants to take those tax cuts away and give them to companies who keep jobs in the United States. We NEED those jobs here in the US.

John McCain has long been a supporter of no regulatory oversight of the financial industry and what happens? Financial meltdown. How much did your 401K lose? Has anyone lost their job due to this meltdown? If not, they may soon. I know many people in our area who have worked hard all their lives and have not only lost thousands of dollars in their savings and 401K’s but have also lost their jobs. Jobs losses will continue.

I just saw an ad this morning where John McCain says that Barack Obama’s tax policies won’t work in this economy. I believe that John McCain’s refusal to regulate the financial industry has not worked and, in fact, caused the financial meltdown.

John McCain & Sarah Palin say Barack OBama has no experience. John McCain has had 26 years of experience in the Senate but obviously he has not done much for the lower or middle class. Barack Obama doesn’t need the experience. He has a fresh outlook not the one that John McCain has had for 26 years. Barack Obama will use his common sense when John McCain would fall back on the Republican ideology.

I am now firmly behind Barack Obama. While John McCain and Sarah Palin have continued attacking Barack Obama, I have been listening to Barack Obama’s speeches about his views, his stance on the issues, what he belives in and what he will do if elected. How refreshing to hear Barack Obama’s speeches instead of the mud John McCain and Sarah Palin are slinging. That is why I am so passionate about Barack Obama’s campaign. I hope you will share my passion and VOTE OBAMA.

Sarah Palin doesn’t do jokes. She seems to be the butt of jokes, most recenty a prank call by a Canadian radio station.

Palin don’t do jokes but she is a joke…..I wish someone on the Republican ticket would get just ONE thing right without inventing half-truths or outright lies.

Palin seems like a very nice person, as can be seen by her even wanting to go to a pee wee game during such a hectic time. I think she will do fine, with God’s blessings, despite what so many mean spirited people are saying about her right now. She will be a major political player, but she, unfortunately, needs to learn to guard herself among those who have horrible intentions. The prank call by the Canadian team only succeeded because she IS SO NICE and because the surrogates, aides, whatever you call them, in charge of passing calls through were obviously incompetent and should be fired. I believe Sarah Palin has a bright future, and anyone who is hoping she falls on her face should begin some serious introspection to find out why they themselves are so hateful.

Sarah, where are your medical records?
What are you hiding?
The rumours are rife. Clear it up.

Steve,

She may be the butt of jokes, but that’s not a reflection on her. That’s a reflection on those making the jokes. My children can tell you that there are two ways to make yourself look better than someone else. One is to do good things, solve problems, and elevate yourself. The other is try to shove the other person down. Only one of those ways is truly making yourself better and is truly lasting.

The other lesson my children live by is the oft quoted, “smart people talk about ideas, average people talk about events, and stupid people talk about people.”

Given those simple philosophies on life, you can imagine how much weight those Sarah Palin jokes carry with the educated. Much like the name-calling. Unfortunately, the Democratic party spends a good deal of time recruiting young people and uneducated people and homeless people, and I suspect they are more likely to be swayed by the name-calling and bad jokes.

If you are undecided read this before you vote:

Why Obama is WRONG for America

Comment by Karen

You people crack me up! First of all, for those of you who didn’t see it - her first joke was the one that Obama sneered and made fun of on his holier-than-thou campaign trail - the one about the lipstick! For all of you who drank the poison kool-aid - you have been blinded by this charleton. AND LYNN - you didn’t do your homework very well if you believe Obama is the guy to run this country. He is the one who has no experience! Sarah Palin is so much more qualified to run this country. She has run a state and budgeted $40 billion well enough to be able to return money to ALL of the people - not just the few who sit around with their hands out. This country was founded on hard work - not hand outs. Anyone voting for th is charleton should be ashamed of themselves putting our country in the hands of the most liberal man to ever run for president. When a person uses the two phrases “redistribution of wealth” and “civil rights” in the same paragraph - anyone with a brain knows what that means!

She can tell great jokes as long as she has handlers, speechwriters and notes. Ring, ring..Sarah, the President of France is on the phone!

Comment by JT

Hey, everyone, Lynn is an Obama campaigner who is trying to incite fear and doubt amongst McCain supporters. Don’t lsiten to it! They pay people to post bogus comments on primarily conservative websites, knowing the only was Obama will win the election is to keep the loyal, patriotic Americans from voting! The EXACT SAME comment was posted as a response to several other articles on this site. Check it out: http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/11/02/palin-tina-fey-hold-on-to-that-sarah-outfit/

The whole thing is so sad.

Both candidates appear to be decent people.: however, McCain’s choice of an inexperienced person (however glamorous) to be his vice president smacks of cynicism; insults the intelligence of the American voters and leaves us all open to an even more uncertain future.

McCain is not immortal.
