Palin Stumps in Tom Ridge’s Hometown

AP Photo - Erie, PA

AP Photo - Palin With Ridge

ERIE, PA–Former Pennsylvania governor Tom Ridge introduced Sarah Palin at a rally in his hometown—just days after he said that he would have been a better pick to capture Pennsylvania for the Republicans than Palin.

The crowd was still enthusiastic for the Alaska governor—a crowd of 7,500 coming to see Palin, but it didn’t get off to such a good start when she congratulated the crowd on the Philadelphia Phillies winning the World Series last night, “So glad to be here in your beautiful hometown here in Pennsylvania, and I am thrilled to be here in the home state of the world champion Philadelphia Phillies.”

The crowd booed as Erie is split between fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cleveland Indians.

She referenced her earlier speech on national security and accused the Democrats in Congress and the “far left” of wanting to cut defense spending.

“It’s the far left leaning Democratic party, not mainstream thinking, but way far left, the Democrat party, they’re preparing to take over the entire federal government, and according to their own stated plans, the first thing to go will be one fourth of the United States defense budget, “ Palin said. “One of the Blue Star moms said, ‘what are we supposed to do, throw a bake sale?’ What are they thinking? John McCain and I have a better idea, lets not retreat from wars we’ve almost won, and lets not gut the defense budget at a time of multiple conflicts and obvious dangers. This is a time where we need to grow our military, and let’s not entrust all the powers of the federal government to a one-party rule of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.”

She has been warning voters on the stump about the potential “monopoly of power” if Obama is elected.

Palin will continue stumping in  Pennsylvania tomorrow doing a bus tour of the Keystone state. The GOP Vice-Presidential candidate will make stops in Latrobe, Somerset, New Paris, Breezewood, York, and Mechanicsburg hoping to close the polls in this must-win state.

I was looking at news headlines, then read some blogs. I went wow, very mean spirited. Pretty nasty. Then I realized it was a fox blog. Then I understood. The Dems need a news station, that is for them like fox is republican. CNN I think is turning republican, they are always so worried to make sure McCain and Sarah get equal time.

Alaska’s largest newspaper says McCain-Palin too risky for America! On October 25, 2008, the Anchorage Daily News recognized the passion and charisma of Alaska’s own Governor Sarah Palin but concluded that, “. . . few who have worked closely with the governor would argue she is truly ready to assume command of the most important, powerful nation on earth. To step in and juggle the demands of an economic meltdown, two deadly wars and a deteriorating climate crisis would stretch the governor beyond her range. Like picking Sen. McCain for president, putting her one 72-year-old heartbeat from the leadership of the free world is just too risky at this time.” Alaska’s most widely read newspaper officially endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate in the same article entitled, “Obama for President: Palin’s rise captivates us but nation needs a steady hand.”

Dear Bergs11,
First before you vote, you got to be wise to verify the integrity of Obama and then you can believe him for what he has been saying!
With no experience, I believe Obama will be A TRIAL AND ERROR President and at this time of dire financial straits caused by corruptions by CEOs and, PROBABLY, senators and governors, this country needs a honest man and honest woman like McCain and Palin to CHANGE cleaning out the corruptions in Washington, BUT NOT AN INEXPERIENCED PRESIDENT!
READ THESE FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING:
Dear Ron,
This country needs not a Harvad Law graduate, but what this country needs is honest man and woman like McCain and Palin to change CLEANING OUT THE DISHONESTY in washington.
You are a foolish man for you do not see how Obama manipulates the laws of USA to gain advantage over many people like
1] Obama deprived the people of chicago the right to vote for candidates other than himself through legality;
2] Obama deprived the people of 2 other states to right to have their votes counted legally when he refused to answer
the call of Hillary for re-election;
3] Obama lied by playing with words when replying to McCain like that he -Obama- was 8, but he was 35 when Ayers had “Coffee” to support Obama’s first run for office!
HOW COULD OBAMA CHANGE washington FOR GOOD when he is found to be STILL lying about NOT knowing Bill Ayers and not knowing alot of Housing Sales in spite of the fact that he is a professor of law???

Yours TRULY,
EXPLAINING4U,
AMEN IN CHRIST JESUS

The beauty and tragedy of America is we seem to have the intelligence of an 8th grader. Though Palin and McCain continue to label Obama a socialist and ultimately a Marxist i have a point for consideration great people of “freedom”. If the ignorant and out of touch people of America will see plainly, CAPITALISM is the first stage of Marxism. Which makes each and every one of us, Marxists. Whether we evolve ourselves to the second of three levels, which is SOCIALISM that will remain our choice, as no president would be able to adapt our society to Socialist principles without our consent. Can I ask what is wrong with all of us giving more to improve our society as a whole? Greed has always been the our weakness. Socialism is not an option but saving the middle class in the name of a few rich people? Come on AMERICA wake up!!! Obama represents our future rather than the failed policies of the past! Palin is 60 years behind in thinking and the most unqualified representative I have ever seen playing at this level. If you are a patriot you will embrace not only a political change but a change in consciousness. Open your heart…America is not the best or the only country in the world, contrary to what we believe.

Obama’s tax increases will hurt the economy even more, and destroy many jobs. If you are one of the small business owners who files as an individual rate payer, please get with your accountant and see what a vote for Obama will cost you.

If you’re an employee of a small business, think twice before you vote yourself out of a job.

Obama stumbles without teleprompter. He’s an empty suit with a hidden agenda.

Vote Obama/Palin for a free-speech country. Say NO to censored journalism and smear campaigns to those asking good questions like Joe the Plumber.

I lserved during the Carter Administration and from what I am hearing out of the current congress and from the Democratic ticker we will once again see U.S. Navy ships tied to the piers, because they have to operations funds. We will see Air Force units grounded because the have to operations or maintenance funds. We will see U.S. Army heavy infantry units staying in garrision and not training because they have no operations, maintenance, or training funds.
We will once again have a hollow force. Then we will have to go to the opposite extreme like under Reagan where we spent enormous amounts of money just to get back on an even keel.

If people think their jobs are in jeopardy now wait until Franks and his group gets going. The defense jobs and the related industries will look like the industrial base of Michigan.

Palin is a GIMMICK. McCain picked Palin as a gimmick to get more votes, SNL picked Palin as a gimmick for more ratings. Palin picked ‘joe the plumber’as a gimmick for more applause. The 8 year old boy pallin’ around with Ayers, gimmick. New born baby, changing his birth certificate, gimmick.McCain’s entire platform is one BIG gimmick. —-If she looked like Greta Sustervern, no one would have picked her, McCain would have Rudy G would be VP, and The Big O would have been President last month.

What’s up with Joe Biden. Does he have a gag order on or what? About 300 Dems showed up for his speech at Lycoming College, Williamsport last night. He just stuttered on and on about being from Penna. and how Obama is going to save humanity. Joe didn’t even impress the local news channel. He got about 15 seconds of coverage.

Hey guess what, 13,000 Repub’s showed up at the Little League Baseball Field just across town to see Sarah Palin. She had the place jumping!!! Obmama will not win PA unless he gives out truckloads of free cigarettes in Phillie & Pittsburg. Thats the only way he can draw a crowd.

Here’s my take on Obama, everyone should go vote for him, he stands up for the middle American, as long as you do not ask a telling question. If you do then he does not tell the DNC, the media, nor the public to leave the man alone he just ask a quest. No this man, Obama, allows the middle American to be PERSECUTED, INTIMINATED, AND THREATENED, by the media for HIS, OBAMA’S mistake. Obama stands back instead of showing back bone and let’s the man be punished for Obama’s mistake. He stands back and makes fun of the man with his side kick Biden, and let’s the man lose his job because he can’t work with the media all over him, let’s his personal life be paraded for all America to inspect while Obama keeps his private and Obama is the candidate.

Obama has shown he is a coward, a user, a man without morals. A real man would have stood up and told the Americans, “look he ask a question and the media is wrong to do this to him, the democrats who are tearing him up are wrong to do this”, but not Obama, he laughs at him and goes on as if it is his right to have Joe destroyed because Obama made a mistake. So I think you should vote for this man. After all this is what you want for America.

Lawrence Eagleburger, who served as Secretary of State under George H.W. Bush and whose endorsement is often trumpeted by McCain, said on Thursday that the Alaska governor is not only unprepared to take over the job on a moment’s notice but, even after some time in office, would only amount to an “adequate” commander in chief.

“And I devoutly hope that [she] would never be tested,” he added for good measure — referring both to Palin’s policy dexterity and the idea of McCain not making it through his time in office. (Listen to audio below.)

The remarks took place during an interview on National Public Radio that was, ironically, billed as “making the case” for a McCain presidency. Asked by the host whether Palin could step in during a time of crisis, Eagleburger reverted to sarcasm before leveling the harsh blow.

“It is a very good question,” he said, pausing a few seconds, then adding with a chuckle: “I’m being facetious here. Look, of course not.”

Palin knows how to ridicule other people, important research (fruit-fly) but can’t nor will give one coherent interview, heaven forbid a press conference. She does not know anything about energy, finance or economy. She does not understand money. She can’t even do her income taxes.

McCain - with all his experience – runs horrible and divise campaign and makes serious mistakes. Palin was one of them. And, Joe the Plumber is going to talk to us about policies a few days before the election? Unbelievable.

Sorry guys, I am not Georgian, I am not Joe the Plumber, I am not ‘a country second crowd’. As a Republican, I cannot vote for these two people, they are ruining the party. They have no plans for future of our children.

Well, Palin does a good job. More concerned are the acts of Obama.

1. Nature dictates that man must reveal himself of what he’s made of. Here we have Obama starting display his nature in dictatorship. Going after Joe, kicking media for McCain off his plan, false smears against Palin, this one was an attempt slaughter, and others. Just waite, and he would love to get total control of the internet. He’s got all your e-mails addresses and in power, he may, I said may want to get control of it. Hillary, already has people’s email addresses and she continues to email them even after they have requested to be removed, not emiled and to stop! This should be of great concern and it’s also important to know if AOL or other are being biased as well. The world of Communication holds a big part in our World and it’s also becoming or already is a coveted outlet.

The spirit of dictatorship is starting to show with Obama and this is of great concern, especially if you look at a full democratic senate, congress, and Presidency–very lethal!!

No vamos a permetir que esto pase–unidos Latinos-Americanos!!!

I am Turkish and I can objectively tell you how US looks from outside right now. No one in US media wants to admit it but people in US are very prejudice. US claims to have put back the racism in their country and focusing on other countries being undemocratic and racist. You have no right to push judgment any other country, while your people still harbor racist feelings. Fix your own mindset before judging others.

First of all Ridge should have at least kept his mouth shut until after the election, but more importantly Palin is the better pick because she is not part of the good old boy crowd that failed to curb spending in Washington. She is the difference in this race. The other three are just more of the same.

Actions speak louder than words
Lets examine the record.
Two years as Governor
Alaska has no state sales tax
Alaska has no state income tax
Alaska has a rebate from oil companies to every household

What has Obama done in Senate in the same time frame that has helped the people of Illinois besides making a lot of noise?

Thank you and think about it

Hi Sarah, I’m guessing that you wish that you had stayed in Alaska. A lot of other people wish the same. I know it’s not your fault because McCain is the one that did this to you. It would be hard to say no to such an opportunity. The bottom line though is that he picked you for your extremists’ views knowing that the religious WingNuts would love you. He needed someone to pacify the Nuts and at the same time he needed someone that wasn’t as intelligent as he. That took a lot of lookin, you bet’cha.

Anyway, I hope that you are able to put your life back together. You had it made and everyone in Alaska loved you. I hope you find that place again. Soon.

Bad guys around the world do not want to mess with McCain. Vote McCain for safer America.

The enemy already broke both arms plus his leg and they know McCain is a lot touger than Obama.

These bad guys scared of McCain that is why they like Obama.

Comment by Matt In Virginia

The only thing that’s actually working for the McCain campaign is the daily inciting of rage, fear and hatred among the easily-led gomers lined up outside of Sarah Palin’s rallies. The truth is that politicians like Sarah Palin are merely manipulating, exploiting and inciting these people. And next Tuesday, we have a chance to seriously marginalize this darker, uglier side of America.we have a chance to tell the Sarah Palin’s of the world that there’s no room in American politics for fire-eaters who stoke archaic prejudices and fears rather than ameliorating them. We have a chance to tell them that not only doesn’t it work anymore, but that it actually exacerbates electoral failure. There are a lot of things to ridicule about Sarah Palin’s incomprehensible speaking style, her pathological dishonesty and her backwards, simplistic views on the issues. But it’s her politics of fear and division that must be wholly rejected on Tuesday because it’s too terrible to imagine waking up one week from today in an America that rewards the awfulness and fear which she and her subterranean allies require in order to politically exist.

Comment by Steve Peterson

What Sarah is saying is dead on right. We cannont afford a democratic party monopoly. They are proposing to do what Hoover and Rosevelt did that led this country into the GREAT DEPRESSION of the 1930’s. They want to raise taxes on those who own small businesss. These small business owners employ 70% of the work force. When they are forced to lay employees off or not ableo to expnad their business this will be devasting to the economy. You think it is bad now.

Let’s think about it. What do you think those in the 40% who do not pay taxes would rather have
a yearly check from Obama for $500-$1,000 or a job that gives them at least that every month?

this should be the biggest NO BRAINER out there just stop being blinded by the glitz and the glitter of the OBAMA campaign.

I went to see palin yesterday in Erie PA. I thought she did an excelent job. The question I have is what is wrong with America? Has the wool been pulled down over your eyes? Obama says he’s going to raise taxes on the wealthy people. Have you ever gotten a job from a poor person? Employers have to have money to hire people, under Obama they will pay more taxes preventing employers from hiring. Obama said he would give the tax cuts to the middle class but if you dont have a job how do you qualify? Think about it America !!!! I think Americans are scared and are thinking anything but Bush. But what has Bush done wrong? Nothing! We have prevented 911 from happening again, sure our national debt has skyrocketed but we are fighting for our very exsistance on this earth. I think people are forgetting that 911 ever Happened. I thank God that we had a president that didnt just sit here and hope 911 didnt happen again. You can argue that we should of concentrated on afghanistan, but the fact that we have not been hit again makes me stand up and aplaud president Bush and say if McCain is the same as Bush Thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR RETIREMENT

To those who have more money than you will ever need, save your time and don’t read this.

For the rest of us who are still working with mortgages, children and grandchildren or retired living on a pension and or Social Security perhaps you will take a couple of minutes to read the proposed changes in the American tax system.

Sharing this email with others can make a difference on November 4, 2008; for our citizens and our country.

INTERESTING DATA JUST RECEIVED ON TAXES

This is something you should be aware of so you don’t get blind-sided.
This is really going to catch a lot of families off guard. It should make you worry.

Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election:

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples) McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales

How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN 15% (no change)

OBAMA 39.6%

How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama become president. The experts predict that higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.

INCOME TAX (OBAMA CLAIMS NO INCREASE IN TAXES….. AFTER BUSH CUTS ARE
ELIMINATED!)

MCCAIN (no changes)

Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

OBAMA
(Reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750

Under Obama your taxes will more than double! How does this affect you?
No explanation needed. This is pretty straightforward.

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA Restore the inheritance tax

How does this affect you? Many families have lost businesses, farms and ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will not only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY OBAMA

* New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet

* New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren’t high enough already)

* New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water,
electricity)

* New taxes on retirement accounts and last but not least….

* New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

Thank You

Bill, thanks ever so much for the enlightened entry. I doubt that it will change any koolaid clouded minds but it is good information for those of us close to retirement. I for one was going to delay my retirement with all that is going on in the economy right now but alas I can not afford to at this time.
Sen Obama has made sure that I either retire now and live off of my Social Security and Navy Retirement or continue to work and payout more and more taxes and never be able to retire.
Not many choices here but I have had to struggle all of my life to make due for my wife and kids and I will continue to provide. Time just reverts back to the old days when self sufficiency was the rule of the day.

The lies, the racism, and the idignaty of someone like Palin saying that Obama lacks experience is beyond laughable.

McCain is 72 which means every day Palin is closer and closer to becoming president. Do you guys not see how stupid this is, and how dangerous this is. A woman who has no education, is a creationist, a zealot in relation to abortion, has a teenage daughter pregant, is fighting curruption charges in her state. And lets not mention her disgusting plan to destroy Alaska for Oil. Only the braindead evangelical christian lunatic fringe of the republican party would support her and they are the immoral minority now! You can see their blogs to support Sara on here everyday..

And please tell me how and when they plan of ‘cleaning up Washington’? There is a saying ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds you’, neither McCain or Palin have said what their plan is to clean up Washington, this just further increases their lack of organization and planning.

They have been incredibly ignorant in this election, they have continued a very racial and purpose message of HATE and have become as fundamental as any member of Al-Quaida. And the lies, the LIES!!!! All these lies just show you how impossible it will be for them to change anything in washington.

For America to move forward it has to first regain the trust and support of the world, you need the world with you, standing next to you, and understanding that YOU are willing to change, to learn, and to accept that there is a world and thus world opinion. In Obama for the first time since Kennedy, I see the American dream, I see the American Hope, and I see America future.
