McCain will make late push in PA, NH
CORAL GABLES, FL — While John McCain is looking to shore up support in red states this week as polls continue to show him down by a few points, the campaign plans to stay on offense in the closing days of the election and return to two states John Kerry won in 2004.
McCain will campaign in Florida, Ohio and Virginia through Saturday but preliminary plans then have the GOP nominee heading up to Pennsylvania and New Hampshire this weekend where the McCain campaign says they see positive trendlines.
Asked about the state of the race in Pennsylvania Tuesday, McCain strategist Mike DuHaime told reporters aboard the campaign plane that he continues to see tightening in the state despite public polls continuing to show Obama up by an average of 10 points and remains upbeat about McCain’s overall chances.
“You could not have more going for you in many ways than Senator Obama has going for him in his campaign and this race is very close going down to the wire,” he said after a McCain rally in Hershey, PA today. “The deal’s not done yet. That makes me very optimistic about where we are.”
DuHaime cited Obama’s recent appearances in the state as evidence that the Democrat also sees McCain making ground in Pennsylvania. The McCain campaign views Pennsylvania’s 21 electoral votes as a huge pickup opportunity to help compensate for potential Obama wins in Bush 2004 states like Iowa, New Mexico and Colorado.
McCain will also be making what is sure to be an emotional return to New Hampshire for a final town hall meeting Sunday in Peterborough. After his primary campaign collapsed last summer, McCain held more than 100 town hall meetings in the Granite State and eventually went on to win the state primary–riding the subsequent momentum to victory over his Republican rivals.
McCain is looking to pick off the state and its four electoral votes, which Kerry won by about 9,000 votes four years ago, though recent polls show Obama pulling away by double digits.
“I love you. I love new Hampshire. I know I can count on you again to come from behind,” McCain told New Hampshire voters at a rally in Goffstown last week. “My friends, I am asking you to come out one more time and get out the vote, get em out, and we’ll win and we will have a great election night.”

McCain will make a late push, unless it rains too hard in which case he’ll “postpone.”
Is it me or did John McCain body slam his pal Bush last week?? yup it is truly an election year. Friends turn on friends etc. Sure Bush is a very un-popular president but our beloved sen McCain voted with him 90% of the time and now he wants to distance himself from GW?? God I’d like to be able to turn my back on old friends when it matters the most. What a POS!!! He actually wants to be our president. He looks like he should be storing nuts in those large cheeks of his and store up for the long winter ahead. Good bye John it’s been a heck of a run. See you in 4 years.
WISHFUL THINKING, PA? NH? COMEBACK?
HE IS BEHIND DOUBLE DIGITS IN THOSE STATES. HOW CAN HE ERASE THAT DEFICIT IN 5 DAYS?
MCCAIN SHOULD WRITE HIS CONCESSION SPEECH. MATHEMATICALLY, HE HAS NO CHANCE. WATCH OUT FOR RED STATES LIKE INDIANA, GEORGIA, NORTH DAKOTA, MONTANA, WEST VIRGINIA.
WE WILL SEE SURPRISES THERE.
AND SARAH PALIN, BETTER STAY UP THERE IN ALASKA AND BLAME MCCAIN FOT THEIR LOSS. I SEE REPUBLICANS ARE HINTING PALIN 2012. GOOD LUCK THEN. BUT HE HAS TO COMPETE IN PRIMARIES FIRST. IT IS DOUBTFULL THAT SHE CAN DO IT. IF HILLARY CLINTON COULD NOT DO IT IN DEMOCRATIC PARTY, SHE CAN NEVER DO IT AS REPUBLICAN. NOT THAT SHE IS JUST A WOMAN, BUT ALSO BECAUSE SHE LACKS SUBSTANCE.
Yup.. let’s come out and vote OBAMA/BIDEN.
Mccain, youre running out of ideas and time, you can take your racist GOP with you back to Arizona…..apparently where Obama is going to win there as well…
I can not understand the logic of the charge that McCain campaign is too negative, so their vote is for Obama. People are free to vote anyway they want but do they know of one accomplishment, one bill that he authored while in the U.S. Senate, that would suggest to them he is going to deliver the change they expect. Are people afraid to look into the character and judgement of Obama that would make them vote intelligently. By the way, Obama,s campaign is too negative from the beginning and worse.
FoxNews keeps censoring and deleting anything that doesn’t praise Obama. Even blog entries got wiped out completely in order to prevent any non pro-Obama comments to be read.
These polls for Ohio don’t make sense. They show Obama winning by about 7%.
I live in a highly democratic county, Portage, and usully I see democratic signs. I see more Republican signs this year. I know a lot of people who voted for Kerry and Gore that are voting for Mccain/Palin. These polls are a joke this year. What is there a lot of voter fraud going on to give it to Obama?
Oh yea, my state is allowing voter fraud this year.
Maybe, Just maybe folks are starting to see what Sen Obama really stands for, and what he wants to do to this country. When I hear talk of replacing the bill of rights with an economic bill of rights, and watering down the constitution it makes me cringe. Myself and alot of men in my family have fought for this country. World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq now we are on the verge of an election where all of that sacrifice will have been wasted. I for one am sick to my stomach about this and I certainly hope the younger generation in this country opens their eyes and does some serious research and soul searching prior to walking into the voting both. I also hope that some of my generation do the same.

HYPOCRITES
-Senator Charles ‘Shakedown’ SCHUMER - the money man for the Democtratic Party
Shakedown Schumer extorts millions from the financial services industry and steals the party nomination for president collapsing Indymac Bank and the entire financial system globally in the process.
-Senator Barack ‘Buy an election’ OBAMA – Democratic nominee for president
Buy an election Obama breaks his promise to run on Public Funding and is buying the election with hundreds of millions of dollars in extorted campaign contributions.
-Senator Joe ‘Burka’ BIDEN – Roman Catholic Senator from Delaware
Burka Biden, a pro abortion Catholic, is a charter member of the flush and forget coalition of pro abortion politicians who support convenience abortions (abortions not necessary for the health of the mother). Cut and run politics as usual.
Obama is one scary and vindictive guy. ABC at first balked at selling its 8-8:30pm time slot because it would have trouble filling the remaining 30 minutes of the hour, but 10 days ago it finally relented. But then what happened? Obama said “no thanks” because he had “already committed his resources”. What the heck is that supposed to mean? What he really was saying was “you did not fall in line quickly enough, so this is your punishment”. This guy is just too scary, controlling, and vindictive to be let into the whitehouse. Don’t let him buy this election! He can spend all the money he wants, but if people are smart enough to see what’s going on, they will vote for McCain!
PLEASE GO TO YOUTUBE TO SEE THE ACTUAL FOOTAGE OF THE MCPAIN/FAILIN RALLEY…
WHERE THE CROWD IS YELLING RACIAL SLURS…NEITHER ONE OF THEM CONDEMNED IT!
McCains plans to create jobs is to reduce corporate tax from 35% to 25%, citing that the reason corporation ship jobs overseas is the low corporate tax of others countries like Ireland with 11% tax.
Call me stupid, but can anyone explain how 25% tax compared with 11% tax would bring back jobs. This plan is nothing but welfare for large corporations that continue to ship jobs overseas.
Also can anyone exlain how business would hire more employees when there are no demand for the product and service they are provide. let me simplify this for everyone.
Consumer with no money= no demand for products.
No demand for products= no profits for businesses.
No profits for businesses= no hiring of new jobs.
so lower tax for corporation= large pay checks for CEO
WHEN DID STOPING GEORGE BUSH FAILED TAX POLICIES BECOME A SWITCH TO SOCIALISM???????????
WAKE UP AMERICA, USE YOURS BRAIN TO ANALYZE AND OBSERVE. STOP BEING PUPPETS FOR CAMPAIGN RETHORIC AND MEDIA BIASES LIKE FOXNEWS.
This is ridiculous.

I can tell you that in the Democratic Primary, Kimala and I were for Clinton, and re-evaluated after the conventions. We considered the Democratic Nominee and found him to be lacking in many aspects of Presidential qualities. While George Bush has been one of the most failed Presidencies in modern times, we cannot afford to gamble with another “winner” like him, AKA Senator Obama. Bush and Obama have much in common – lots of money, both very naive, cunning and secretive. Not to mention all the that the Senator’s record and policies run amuck to mirroring socialism, then considering
the people Obama CHOSE to associate himself as a adult. Adding in the fact that Obama is ignorant of telling the truth and just says it is not true and if he doesn’t
like the answer his political cronies smear your name like mud. And there is the zero experience factor, Mr. Obama has been running for political office essentially since the day he is sworn for the Illinois Senator in 2004; running for President since 2006. High aspirations with virtual zero experience, leads me to ask where’s the beef? There is only one clear answer . Senator McCain. An honorable man with firsthand knowledge of the military, and the good and bad that can happen. He is center-right related on issues and policy. Do my wife and I agree on him with all the issues no, but neither did America when it
voted for Governor Reagan. Another Democrat for McCain, Country First.
I was down in Boston for a business lunch, my server “Chad” (great name) had on a “Obama 08″ button, I smiled and said nothing, as he had given away his political preference.
When the bill came I decided not to tip Chad and said going to apply Obama’s redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The Chad had a few unprintable comments, said I should have stiff the restaurant instead and angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $20 and told him to thank the Chad the waiter inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful but confused.
At the end of this rather unscientific redistribution wealth experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed the money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
GO McCain !!!
wolfster…duh…Obama has proven he was born in Hawaii. How many times does Obama have to answer/address the questions he has already answered. Recycling these vicious rumors is not doing your party any good.
McCain and Obama in a dead heat ……………….. in Arizona. Check this out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dawn-teo/polls-pile-up-in-mccains_b_138788.html

It does seem highly unlkely but then again, who in the world actually expected him to get the Republican nomination in the first place. My vote is for McCain because of the lesser of 2 evils syndrome however I would have preferred Romney.
Good one Mark……Did you get that in an Email too?
Socialism: a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
I was unaware that Obama wanted to control means of production, distribution, capital and land. What a shock! A progressive tax structure is NOT socialism.
Get a clue.
THESE SHOULD BE mccain’s FAREWELL VISITS TO PA, NH.
Thanks for the memories!!!(john col).
OBAMA IS IN A BETTER POSITION IN ARIZONA THAN MCCAIN IS IN PENNSYLVANIA !!!!
What is up with the polling numbers in general? Not just this election but in 2004 as well? They ALWAYS seem to overstate the number of people voting democratic…then act shocked when the poll numbers are wrong…
Is there some reason why the pollsters are not picking up people who plan to vote republican? and all you Obama supporters don’t say “that’s because there aren’t any”…LOL.
Vote McCain/Palin 2008….and tell all your friends! and then drive them to the polls also!
Some Einsein for Obama please answer these questions:————————————-Why does Obama refuse to show his original birth certificate?…. Why does Obama refuse to show his medical records?…. Why does Obama refuse to show his Occidental, Columbia and Harvard transcripts?…. Why does Obama lie about his association with Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko?…. What was the intended purpose of $800,000 Obama gave ACORN?…. What favors did Obama do to receive $126,000.00 from Fannie Mae?…. Did Obama know Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson were embezzling money from Fannie?…. How did Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson become advisors to Obama?…. Who is financing Obama’s political agenda?…. Is Obama accepting illegal foreign campaign contributions?…. Why has Obama been endorsed by radical Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan?…. Why does Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad support Obama?…. Why does radical Hamas terrorist leader Ahmed Yousef praise Obama?…. Why does Obama support driver’s license for illegal aliens?…. Why does Obama oppose gun rights (for law abiding citizens)?…. Why do the biased news media hide the truth about Obama?…. Jewish people be very aware.
Obama is a Chicago politican, they believe strongly in if you can’t steal it buy it.
GO, McCAIN!!! You are truly an American hero. . . .
We are lawless

Just because people are registered democrats doesn’t mean they are voting for a Democrat - I have spoken to many democrats here in NC who will not vote for Obama - I also come from a family of registered democrats - myself excluded - who were union workers, city and state workers who registered as democrats (lived in NJ) but always, always voted for republicans. They did not want to jeopardize their jobs so they had to register as democrats.
I’ve watched the recent interviews with McCain and Palin side by side. McCain couldn’t even look at Palin. He had the same irritated and angry look on his face as when he was debating Obama. There is no unity on the Republican ticket. McCain and Palin have a mutual dislike of each other and it has shown over the last several days in their interviews together.
MCCAIN AND HILLARY WON IN NEW HAMPSHIRE AGAINST THE PREDICTION OF THE PUNDITS. I WOULD NOT COUNT MCCAIN OUT.— N.H. THINKS DEEP AND MEASURES THE CANDIDATES WELL. IT IS NOT SWAYED BY POLLS AND THE MEDIA. OBAMA THOUGH WILDLY PREDICTED TO SMASH HILLARY IN N.H., LOST. THAT STUNNED THE MEDIA.— TRUST THE PEOPLE OF N.H. AND P.A. THEY WILL DO WHAT’S RIGHT FOR THE COUNTRY.
We will have a new fresh face after tuesday. God Bless.
To the guy who “redistributed” the wealth:
Get a clue. “Chad” was probably either a student, or someone with an education who can’t get a job in this economy, or god forbid a regular guy who works as waiter for a living. Servers live off their tip, and if you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, you’d know what a difficult and often degrading job it can be. I’ve got several degrees, and am in graduate school full-time… and live off my tips to pay rent, bills, and student loan payments.
To prove your uninformed point (try reading the tax plan), you ensured that he probably had to pay money to the house for your visit to his place of employment. All because he exercised his freedom of speech and association.
What a proud moment for you - I’m sure you not only changed his vote, but that of anyone to whom he told your pathetic story.
As for me, I’m voting for the guys with an actual plan will help me out - Obama/Biden!
MORE BAD NEWS FOR MCCAIN!!!
LATEST POLL (OCT 23, ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY) SHOWS THE FOLLOWING:
MCCAIN 46%
OBAMA 44%
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
WHAT IS HE DOING IN PA , NH?
My daughter and I went to New York City from our home in Allentown Pennsylvania to join in a wonderful grass roots event to support Obama!
We got to meet so many great women (and Men!) who with their amazing intelligence, courage and tenacity testify to the myriad ways that generations of women have moved history forward.
Womenbarackthevote.com celebrates the wisdom and tenacity of prior and future generations of women and recognizes the power and impact of generations working together!
As Barack has so eloquently stated, “WE are the ones that we have been waiting for. WE are the change that we seek.”
This election season we still have a huge opportunity to make history. We can represent ourselves in record numbers at the polls and exercise a right that a generation of women fought so hard to give us. We should encourage our friends to vote, remind them of why it’s important, and also remember that there are still women in the world who may never get to do what we’re doing.
From women at all stages of life to women in all walks of life, the message is clear:
We are excited to help bring our nation back to the level of strength and respect and admiration it has always been known for. We are excited about the possibility of having someone who represents the dreams, hopes, and success stories of so many in our wonderful nation and someone who is so representative of change and new beginnings.
We are excited to vote for Barack Obama on November 4th!!
Yep. McCain is going to win, thanks to the Dems who stay home thinking it’s all in the bag.
Dictators always lay out their plans in books before they assume power…they also use “elections” to gain power, demonize and silence their opposition, and then laugh at the “useful idiots” who helped them get into power…Obama is no different…
Classic!!!!!!!!! This story needs to make the rounds on the blogs….thanks Mark great post!!!

When I went to get my hair cut and the salon workers were talking up and campaigning for Obama, I informed them that if Obama wins, I would no longer be able to come in as regular. There are some things that my “middle” class family will have to give up in order to allow for the dictated redistribution of our money. I left them in silence as I’m not sure they ever considered how this will trickle down to their small business.
Classic!!!!!!!!! Great post Mark!!!!

New Hampshire? Why is he making a final push in New Hampshire with it’s 4 electoral votes? Sadly, he’s run the worst campaign in recent memory.
I am a small business owner…I have some employees who have Obama/Biden stickers on their cars…if Obama wins, and I have to cut payroll to pay taxes, guess who will be the first to go?
moo
Here in New Hampshire, embarassed former McCain supporters have been taking down their signs. I live in the conservative Lakes Region, and Obama signs far outnumber signs for the Grumpy Old Man and his Trigger-Happy Crazy Lady running mate.
Wow, NoBama, you too are pure class.
Again, punishing people for expressing their freedom of speech and association. Of course you wouldn’t lay off the people who were least talented or best able to handle the loss of a job. You would just conduct another witch hunt to try to rid yourself of anyone different fro you.
After weighing the issues, as an Independent it is clear who I should vote for - McCain.
I urge other independents or anyone else that are still on the fence to look at the two candidates closely.
I am choosing McCain for the following reasons-
1. With so many dishonest, self-serving politicians in Washington McCain has proven and shown to me that he has character and integrity. I believe he will carry this to the Oval office.
2. Having all of Washington be a Democratic majority means the Democrats’s agenda can easily be passed without much objection. We need check and balances in Washington.
3. McCain has experience. It’s not the time to have a president on training wheels. If a major city in America were to be bombed today, who would fit right in and take care of business? McCain would know what to do. He’s the only one that has lived it first hand.
4. McCain said he will have a bi-partisan cabinet. I like that.
5. I really like that McCain and Palin wants to stop the over spending in Washington. They want to put Washington on a budget and work within the confine of this budget.
6. McCain is right to not want to raise taxes on anyone, especially during a time of financial crisis. That would be financial suicide.
7. McCain is for smaller government. I want the government’s involvement in my life and affairs minimal. I want to choose my own doctor. I would prefer to give my hard earned money to the charity of my own choice and not have the government distribute my tax dollars to programs such as ACORN that I don’t condone. This is my money not the government’s.
8. McCain is for the small business. Small business is the back bone of our economy.
Why my conscience can’t vote for Obama:
1. He lacks experience in government. 2-3 years as a junior senator does not make him qualified.
2. He has never run a business or owned a business so to me, he lacks the understanding of a small business mindset.
3. His judgement to me is questionable. His multiple questionable associations makes me wonder about his belief system. I can understand why he would assoiciate with Ayers, and the rest to advance his political career, but what did Ayers and the rest want with Obama? Do you think that these shady associations were just helping Obama out of the goodness of their hearts?
4. What Obama says and do are two different things. I do not know what to believe. First he says people making $250,000 will be the only ones to see a tax increase. It’s gone to $200,000. It’s gone further down to $150,000 and he’s not even in office yet. How far down is he going to go?
5. Obama has too many programs that he wants to implement, almost a trillion’s worth. With America’s check book being $0.00, where is he going to get the funding?
6. Obama is way too liberal for my taste. He will vote with his party at every turn. The Democrats will run a mock in Washinton and will have no one to answer to.
7. What bothers me most is his socialistic view of spreading the wealth. Why would he want to punish individuals that want to work for their money and give it to those individuals that do not have to pay taxes baffles me. 40% do not pay taxes of the 95% Obama keeps talking about of helping. We will be passing to our kids some major, major problems. Our kids, grand kids, great grand kids, etc. will be financially supporting these people that do not pay taxes. To me, this is welfare.
I would have preferred Hillary, but Hillary is not the candidate. Out of the two Obama or McCain. Clearly McCain is the better choice. I just hope that people can see through Obama’s fancy rhetoric and fancy speaches.
Why is it ok to be rude, obnoxious, and hateful toward women and toward older people, but it’s definitely NOT ok to say ANYTHING rude, obnoxious, or hateful to someone who’s black. I’m so tired of people putting McCain’s age at the forefront when it really should not be an issue. He looks and carries himself better than alot of slovenly 25 year olds I know who probably already have clogged arteries. McCain is in good health, and based on how well his mother is doing, it looks like he’ll be fine for many years. Palin has also had to put up with TOO much. While many claim it’s because of her “substance or lack thereof”, I get a strong feeling it’s because she’s a young, conservative, successful woman. Even other women are being hateful and catty…hmmm…look at YOUR OWN life and wonder why. Of course, nobody can be as rude toward BO ’cause we’d be labeled a racist.

WAKE UP AMERICA!!! If you take the time to inform yourself about all the misgivings there are about Obama, how could anyone take the chance of putting America in this position with him as our president!!!
JUMPING OUT OF THE FRYING PAN INTO THE FIRE IS CHANGE!!
Do the right thing now for America, and America’s future, vote McCain!! We know his background and heart.
missy fron TX - you have got to be delusional if you haven’t seen people on this very website being rude, obnoxious, and hateful towards Barack Obama. I’m not condoning that kind of behaviour from anyone, but to try to blame it on on side is disingenuous at best.
I want McCain and Palin out of my state of PA ASAP. They have caused more then enough trouble. I WANT THEM OUT.
For me this election will be the choice between the less of two evils. I wish someone will do the investigation of where Obama is obtaining his resources to put out so many ads and now a 30 minute informercial.
I also wish someone would put Obama’s voting record out in the open so that the average person can easily see what this man stands for. Too often, the average person hears the speeches and gets caught up in the momentum but has no idea what they are really supporting.
If someone could see who is supporting Obama then one could see what Obama stands for. At this point all we hear is “change” - Change to what? Change to become like Europe and other countries that want him in office?
Before you vote this coming Tuesday - don’t vote for a candidate thinking that they are going to be the next hero. I don’t like the Republican ticket either, but I believe that they will do less harm than the one whose children are not even grown. Let Obama, rear his children and then maybe he can rescue a nation.
Obama is appears dangerous.
I agree with McCain that he will indeed win, and not just because I’m a pro-business Republican. There are three main reasons why I think he will pull it off.
First, the mainstream polls are not only heavily lopsided toward registered Democrats, but they are also tightening dramatically in the last week (at least three polls show it within 3% as of today). Second, I highly doubt that all the “new Democrat voters” will actually show up, especially with Obama supporters saying that the election is pretty much a done deal. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Bradley effect will be the #1 reason why we will see a huge discrepancy between the polls and actual results. I assure you that there are a decent number of people polled that don’t want to admit out loud that they don’t support a minority. However, people are smart enough to vote for the better leader when it counts, regardless of race. I firmly believe that enough people see McCain as the better leader to elect him President.
Regardless of what happens and despite the negativity in both campaigns, this really is an exciting election. It’s amazing to see how passionately people support each of their candidates. With all of this renewed passion and interest in politics, both Democrats and Republicans will both come out ahead after all is said and done.
