Palin: Obama Camp Thinks Election is “Just a Formality.”

TAMPA , Florida–-At a rally here today, Sarah Palin picked up one of her running mate’s attacks from yesterday that seems to have been already been debunked. She claimed that Barack Obama has already written his inauguration address citing a New York Times report.

“And you know that elections—they’re not decided until the votes are counted.” Palin said, “But our opponent, he sure seems, once again to be getting out a little bit ahead of himself. Just yesterday, the New York Times reported that Barack Obama’s inaugural address is already written. Nine days out from the election, nine days out, and yet it’s already written.”

The address Palin is referring to was written by John Podesta–who is currently directing the transition team for the Democratic nominee—and published in a book this summer when he was advising Obama’s rival, Hillary Clinton. The speech was a sample inaugural address for whoever eventually became the nominee.

Palin continued to try and peg Obama as presumptuous while stressing that her ticket is trying to earn votes and listed examples of how the Democratic nominee thinks that the election is “just a formality.”

“Barack Obama and I, we both have spent quite some time on the basketball court. But where I come from, you have to win the game before you start cutting down the nets. It’s kind of like that presidential seal. Remember the presidential seal that he made for himself a few months back? Or his plans to speak at the Brandenburg Gate until the German government had to remind him, ah, nah, that’s an honor reserved for heads of state. Or the stadium that he’s already rented out for the victory party that he has planned.”

This is also incorrect; the Obama campaign plans to speak on election night in Grant Park in Chicago while John McCain will give his address in the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix.

Palin went on to blame the media for already electing Obama, but she promised the crowd that her ticket is still out working for votes.

“They’ve overlooked though the minor detail of earning your confidence and your trust and winning your votes.” Palin said, “And I know that judging by media coverage, it does seem that the coronation is already set, but as for John McCain and me, we don’t take any vote for granted, and we are not assuming that we have your vote, we are respectfully asking for it.”

Her ignorance is on full display - Palin has never been one to let the “facts” get in her way. He has not written his inaugural address. For all the McCain/Palin moaning over the biasness of the NYT, they never bother to fact check anything.

Wake Up Palin, everyone but You and McCain can see that both of you are 2 Losers!

Palin this election is like the Alaska Beauty Contest. Sure you are in the contest, but once again your side finishes 2nd!

Comment by TeaBag

Palin was wrong on everything she said, as the article points out. Oh well, they’re desperate, she’ll be back in Alaska soon eating moose stew.

Atleast you and your family got alot of Clothes out of the race. Enjoy your trip back to Alaska. Can’t wait for the Alaska Congress to be back in session, so they can finally have the vote to remove you!

I will be voting for Miss Sarah on election day. It’s a shame that mccain is on the ticket too.

Comment by annie

Fox news has stopped even trying to hide their bias. A more accurate headline would be “Palin Continues False Attacks against Obama” or “Palin bases claim about Obama Speech on False Ionformation”. For those on this site that only read the headline, it actually appears that she has something f substance to say…. which would be the biggest shocker of them all!

Comment by DM

I am a McCain supporter but am worried about Palin. She is becoming the next Hillary and I know how we felt when she used to talk like this.

McCain is a Maverick and is known for his straight talk. Now, Palin is lying everyday on the campaign trail and driving us to the ditch. Obama seems to be decent and disciplined than Palin.

I am going to vote for McCain but I honestly respect Obama as a person. We should forgo the hatredness and respect both candidates.

Comment by Nickatnight

Gov Palin has overlooked the minor detail that half-truths and incomplete facts won’t sway impartial voters. If she’s looking to change minds, she DOES need to bring new information. But, only new facts that stand up to scrutiny. And this claim that the inaugural speech has already been written has been debunked. Translation: it’s now lost its power. Time to dig up some new “facts”, Guv.

How come Palin never gets the memos that her talking points have been proven false? And why is she still talking about Obama? She really isn’t listening to her advisors.

Comment by Michelle

You know it’s bad when your biggest criticism is that your opponent is far enough ahead to justify keeping his eye on the finish line but you are too busy staying in the race.

Comment by Jerzygrl

Amazing - even Fox news said it was already debunked, and yet Palin continues to repeat the lie in her stump speech! Lies, lies, and more lies! I understand politics, but when you come right out and lie in a stump speech? This woman has absolutely no ethics; no wonder there is so much infighting in the McCain campaign.

Comment by Jerzygrl

Don’t let the facts get in the way of your stump speech Sarah! When even Fox news has said that a rumor has been debunked and you still run with it, you just prove what a Maverick you are! And you wonder why you’re behind in the polls - maybe you should stick with the truth.

I’m a staunch Hillary supporter, but I can still like and appreciate Palin. Palin has been thrown into a national election, with very little time to prepare. Do you all remember how much policy BO had to borrow from Hillary when the primary began? He had to learn as he went along as well.

For all the people who continue to think Obama is more “decent” , “honest”, or “believable”, I can only say, have you been paying attention from the beginning?!?! He’s basically reneged on so many pledges, I’m quite surprised he still has supporters clamoring about his “integrity”. There is every sign that he will conduct Washington politics in a secretive manner, and with the ultra wealthy controlling his agenda.

Palin has a valid point about Obama’s hubris. Heck, even BO’s own strategist, D. Axelrod said the one thing that could derail BO’s chances would be BO’s arrogance.

It is true about the BO “seal”, it is true about the “Brandenburg gate”, and we all know it is true about the ridiculous Greek columns when he gave the Dem Nomination acceptance speech. Obama cares deeply about “winning”, but from my observation, he has yet to be humbled, or to demonstrate true passionate feelings about the pain people are experiencing. His words don’t have the conviction that Hillary’s had.

J. McCain is no George Bush, but B. Obama is certainly no Hillary Clinton!!!

To KMB08–Comparing Obama to Palin is an insult. Obama never had any Katie Couric moments, but for Palin this has become the norm. I have nothing against Palin but she is clearly not ready to lead this country. Most also agree that throughout this campaign McCain has demonstrated that he cares more about winning this election than about his personal integrity….from picking Palin to all of the fear and smear attacks against Obama to the horrible robocalls. It is pretty clear….the McCain/Palin ticket is a disaster.

Why does Mrs. Palin continue to lie? These are all petty lies and it just looks really small and shrill.

I just had a call from the Obama campaign yesterday doing a fund drive for getting out the vote in Florida. The volunteer talked to me awhile about Florida and how tough it is. I did give a little. Certainly, the Obama campaign is working hard and working for the vote. I experienced it first hand and Mrs. Palin just isn’t telling the truth. The thing about all of this is that I remember this particular incident from direct experience and I won’t forget how she lied that particular day. I wouldn’t ever vote for someone so dishonorable and so willing to lie not only about big things but also petty little things.

Funny. I bet when Obama is inaugurated, it will be a great and inspiring speech that will seek to unite all Americans, even the hateful and racist Republicans. And he will write his own speech. Has Palin ever written a speech, or anything? Or does she just spew hatred and lies like a right-wing puppet?

Americans deserve more than mere survival and if corporations have their way, this is all we’ll get. Government is there to represent the people, not to abandon us to the forces of corporate authority and this is the reason I will not buy into GOP market-knows-best ideology. If the GOP really believed in a free market, they wouldn’t work so hard to create union-hostile legislation but instead would accept unions as a naturally-occurring element of free market economics.

Comment by Joerg

The Democrats lack any sense of respect for democracy and freedom of speech. Just look at what Biden and Obama did to that journalist that was just doing her job.
And even this article here… when quoting Palin on a fact that Obama already chose the place where he would be after his victory.. being it a stadium or a park it’s not a major mistake, what Palin said was true and it’s the point, the simple fact that the Democrats and Obama have already estabilished that they are going to win and decided where people will need to be to elect their new god-wannabe as Obama has been sold to appear to people by the Democrats owned news, media, entertainment industry machine.

Wake up people because after Obama being elected it will be too late and democracy will exist no more. With the Democrats controlling every single aspect of our society it will be over. They will quickly user their power to have everyone not happy with it to just shut up–no question asked just like it has happened to that journalist with Biden.

Is this the change you want to happen ? Is this the change the USA and whole world really need?

Palin doesn’t know what journals or newspapers she reads, doesn’t know what the Vice President does and doesn’t know even the name of one Supreme Court decision other than Roe v. Wade, but she knows what Barack Obama thinks. It might have done her some good to use her mindreading powers to know what her teenage daughter was thinking a while back.

Is there no end to Sarah Palin’s unbelievable hubris?

Alaska, you’re going to get her back very soon. Lucky you.

To all you Obama/Biden loyalists….you are blinded and cannot see what is coming if you elect them and a super-majority congress. You have not seen the worse of times yet. Many of the so-called recipients of their program will lose jobs, immorality will increase, and this partisanship will come out one-sided. Not only will we have a Nanny State but a lot of personal freedoms and American exceptionalism will be curtailed.

Sadly, this is the beginning of the downfall of America. YOU ARE MAKING HISTORY INDEED.

It pays to do a little due diligence, even when checking out recommendations for President.

The McClatchy Company owns the “Anchorage Daily News”. Research The McClatchy Company website and you can see the USA map of newspaper locations. On each is their paper website, and you’ll find those recommendations.

I’m not wasting my time, but those I did check all recommend Obama.

If anyone finds McCain recommended by The McClatchy Company, please post it.

NOW THAT WOULD BE NEWSWORTHY !!!!!!!!!!!

VOTE NOVEMBER 4th (EARLY)
McCain-Palin

The uncontested poll is that on “best experience for the job of President”

McCain was best with 80% to 20% in the poll.
Obama was not that good with 52% to 45% in the same poll.

Now why do you think Voters would vote for someone other than the “best experienced candidate for President”?

Hummmm. You figure. I’m voting for the “Best” of the Best, and only man who ever fought for the United States in Combat running for the Office of President and Commander in Chief.

His marks on Honor and Country First are second to none in this election year.

You know Palin - we don’t need you to tell us what Obama is doing - he’s winning and you know why - cuz, you betcha, he’s focusing on the issues - and not talking about you! You spend so much time talking about him that you have yet to tell us what McCain Palin stands for - we certainly know what you think of Obama - and you’re so off on that how can America trust you? You lie about your opponent - and spend so much time casting stones that you aren’t making a case for yourself

Good luck as a women I admire you but as a human being - you have a lot to learn - try learning from Obama, and oh yeah, read a book every now and then! Sports will only get you so far!

Instead of focusing on the sky is falling how about discussing how a Republican President, House and Senate got us into this mess. Unless you have been a sleep, our personal liberties have already been attacked under the guise of the war on terrorism. I remind my Republican alarmists that Senator Max Clealand a war vet who lost both legs and the use of his arms, fighting for his country, was branded by the Republicans as an Anti- American because he objected to some of the excesses in the Patriot Act.

Need I remind all that Valrie Plamme a covert CIA operative was outed because her husband had the nerve to object to the claims of yellow cake (nuclear material) in Iraq. Even George Bush Sr, was outraged over that, as a former Director of the CIA understanding how revealing who is a CIA operative really is.

The excuses, denials of the excesses of the Republican Rule have been irresponsible and claims that the election of Democrats as a scary thought, just lacks credibility. The loss of Republican seats in the house 2 years ago should have been a wake up call, but the arrogance of power was not.

Now, nation wide to include former Red States are voting for change and lamenting this by telling me to be scared lacks credibility and those tactics of fear and smear no longer working with the electorate.

If the Republicans want to again be relevant they need to change their attitude and look to solve problems responsibly. Welcome to the 21st Century.

Oh by the way, I suspect Fox will have to moderate their tune or themselves risk becoming a marginalized outlet who have people shouting in the wind.

This is the future under Obama, Censorship, the Media is scared of Obama and his Chicago ways, we the people need to make the Media be more afraid of us, the people they represent.

We have our vote to remind the Politician’s who is in control, we the people; we have our dollars to remind the Media who is in control, we the people. We cast our vote against bias in the Media by boycotting MSNCB & NBC (all shows) the most visible offenders. The boycott message will be to all members of the media and will remind them who is in control, we the people.

We must also boycott the sponsor’s products, followed by letters to these companies, that we will not purchase their products if they continue to support MSNBC & NBC while they overtly attempt to influence the presidential election for Obama. Start NOW!

The early voters will be singing a new tune if their choice does become President.. They should know this, that when they are starving for food and waiting in gas lines and not being able to see the news, I will not share my food with them.. They will have made their bed and now they will have to lie down next to liars and cheats.. Sad, so sad that there are some people that blindly follow along with the media circus and have no intellingence to research on their own and make an honest decision.. We all will have to suffer for it in the long run.. Early voting is ” passion of the moment ” brought on by slick talking orators without a real plan except to rape America.. To Terry:

You said: Obama never had any Katie Couric moments

First off, BO had many uh, uh moments when away from the teleprompter. Be honest now. In addition, remember his uh, uh, uh, breathalyzer moment when referring to a child with asthma, when he meant to say “inhaler”?

I’ve been a Democrat all my life, but until I saw how Democrats would treat one of their own(Hillary), I had always thought the Republicans were the winners of distortion and attacks, but I’d say both parties are just about even in that regard.

After BO had his surrogates B. Burton and JJackson, Jr. play the race card on the Clintons(there are memos to attest to this), I saw right then BO didn’t mind playing the game of Chicago dirty politics. He always let his surrogates do the dirty work, all the while he’d come out and say something noble like, “let’s move on..there’s no place for this kind of politics”…The worst kind of hypocrite! The caucus fraud was another sign BO was not above Machiavellianism.

BO wasn’t very knowledgeable when the primaries began. He had a great teacher in Hillary Clinton. Hillary helped him tremendously, and continues to do so.

Isn’t it ironic that both McCain and Obama called Hillary to ask her advice about the home foreclosure crisis? Geeeezzz… Difference being, McCain gives HRC credit when he inserts her policy into his platform. BO just takes it, and lets others presume it was his idea all along.

BO has had plenty of stuttering moments. They just don’t get nearly the airtime that Palin’s missteps get. BO has such a money advantage, he’s able to avoid situations that could trip him, such as the townhall meetings he originally agreed to do with JMcCain.

I am truly undecided in this election. BO is farther left than Hillary, and with the far left of HDean, Pelosi, Reid in command, I think strategically, BO winning could be very bad for the Dems in Congress just two short years down the road. I personally think McCain has more integrity than BO, and certainly more humility.

To be honest, the one-sided partisanship that you speak of had reared its ugly head for 8 years in the WH under Bush. She sounds like any other Common Joe walking around making absolutely no sense. Every time I hear her speak, if I don’t turn the TV, all I can say is WOW, I know more than she does. In actuality, I do think John McCain is embarrassed and regrets his pick. Sarah Palin has already gone “rogue”. It’s a mess.

Funny Palin says Obama is treating the election is a formality, when she treats facts and ethics as mere formalities. If this hateful woman is as vicious and disloyal as McCain’s own campaign indicates (apparently she is calling it “The Palin-McCain” ticket, giving statements off-message and detrimental to McCain’s campaign, looking forward to the 2012 campaign), why would anyone vote for her? Some of you people are so - should I say - blind to how camp obama really works. You folks are just falling for anything Obama says - truth or lie - just falling for it.

Too bad because Obama will be raising all the taxes, Obama is for illegals to get drivers licenses and social security and healthcare..(without working first), Obama is for spending and taxing. An Obama/Pelosi/Reid Administration will bankrupt the US and you folks do not care about that.

So here is the deal - vote for McCain - at least there will be separate powers instead of it all being Democratic. Nothing wrong with either side until they are the only side in power.

Expect if Obama is elected the stock market to collapse at least 1000 points. Expect an attack from our terrorism enemies….and expect your taxes to go up to pay for others. I am not sure that the people supporting Obama know the definition of socialism or the failure of the countrys that it has contributed to. Perhaps getting a bit educated is in order about what Obama’s proposals mean to the US before election day.

That is of course presuming that what he says today he would keep his word on. He hasn’t done so sofar…but maybe now. (No on FISA turned into a yes, NAFTA…and campaign financing to mention just a couple of the numerous times that Obama has gone back on his word) I will tell you, he will raise taxes on all of us……….!!! And for those who vote for him - no crying - EVER - when you loose your jobs, when your taxes are higher, and the Dems are laughing all the way to the bank on your dime. Vote for Country - with fair and EQUAL representation (Dems in House and Senate and Rep in White House)…..then lets see what they can do!

What an idiotic comment to make regarding the clothes worn and purchased by the RNC for Sarah Palin. For your information the clothing after the campaign gets donated to charity and that has been done by many candidates over the years. Your ideology is blinding and your comment is baseless. Do you think Obama bought all his suits? Hillary Clinton didn’t own 200 pantsuits either. Did the media go after them. Of course not the media is the arm of the DNC. And by the way Alaska doesn’t have a congress they have a state legislature. They have congressmen and women who report to washington. Sorry to tell you the investigation is over and if she isn’t vice president she will be the governor of Alaska. Alasks’s gain and a loss to the nation.

I AM NEITHER A REPUBLICAN NOR DEMOCRATE. I AM SMART ENOUGH TO DO MY HOMEWORK AND DETERMINE WHICH PERSON IS BETTER OF “ALL” AMERICANS. JOHN MCCAIN IS THE ONE. WHY CAN’T YOU DEMOCRATES SEE THAT OBAMA IS TOTALLY DESTROYING WHAT THE DEMOCRATE PARTY IS TRULY ALL ABOUT. THIS MAN IS BIG TROUBLE AND IF HE GETS IN, YOU WILL BE SORRY WITHIN SIX MONTHS OR MAYBE LESS.

Obama Supporters,
Prepare for four years (Obama will never ve reelected) of “I Hate Obama” retorect.
We have endured Your “I hate Bush” propoganda while he has kept us safe for seven years.
Obama will be a lame duck from day one.
It is hard to lead when most will not follow.
The “Bush did this” will not fly when you are president.
You will have to show extreme results in lowering unemployment and the deficit in four years or the american people will fire you.
I personally will go door to door in four counties in 2012 to make sure NY never goes Obama again.
Sincerely,
Mike Hance

WHY HAVEN’T THE REPORTERS TRAILING AROUND AFTER OBAMA POINTED OUT THE DISCREPANCIES IN HIS DIALOGUE THE NUMEROUS TIMES HE HAS SPOKEN LIES ABOUT SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN AND GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN? MAYBE THIS SHUSHANNAH WALSHE NEEDS TO BE HAULED OVER TO HIS CAMPAIGN SO SHE CAN CONTINUE THE TRADTITION OF HIDING THE LIES FOR HIM. ALL THIS SHUSHANNAH DOES IS PICK EVERY LITTLE THING SHE CAN TO CRITICIZE GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN. NO WONDER SARAH PALIN DOESN’T WANT TO GIVE THE GAL THE TIME OF DAY. I WOULDN’T EITHER. THE LITTLE BACK STABBER. YEAH, SUSHANNA, YOU GO OVER THERE AND STAB OBAMA IN THE BACK AND IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME YOU TRIED SOMETHING LIKE THAT! YOU WOULD BE ON THE ROAD BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM POST HASTE.

oh this is rich. didn’t mc cain just “guarantee” victory on 4 Nov (it’s all over yahoo news…). sounds like GOP does think that the “election is just a formality”. as for “winning confidence and trust”, … i’m *sure* sarah inspires *so much* of both. jeez, there should be an IQ prerequisite to standing for election …

It’s a shame. As an independent, I really didn’t mind who won the election. Both candidates seem to be honest and really want to do what they feel is best for our country, the greatest country on earth. When John McCain chose Palin as his running mate I was a little shocked so I looked into her, and, well I’m just so saddened that such a great patriot would choose such a vapid megalomanic as his running mate - she really is awful. If she calls me “Joe six-pack” or says “you betcha” once more, I’m going to throw up. I’m middle class, earning well above 100k, but she wants to paint me as some beer swilling redneck who doesn’t care about the world outside of the USA.
BTW - her definition of socilalism (and Marxism) is taking money from one person and giving it to someone else- by that definition any administration which has ever levied taxes is a socialist government!
John McCain - You are a patriot, and a great American. I thank you for your service, there are very few who can be held upto your standard - but why did you pick her?

My advice to all small business owners. When that tax increase comes and you have to lay people off, start with the Democrats since they believe in redistributing the wealth. Yes let them collect their wealth from the unemployment line. Me I’m sittin back and watchin the economy go totally upside down. Don’t believe me watch the stock market on Nov. 5th when the messiah is officially elected president. You’ll see how much faith they have in a guy who will raise the taxes of investors. LOL LOL LOL!

Now that you guys are done fantasizing about the big Barack Obama victory celebration let me tell you what is really gonna happen November 4th. Despite the fact that the Acorn people and the Obama people are hauling hundreds and in some cases thousands of blacks to the early voting polls offering them free Mc Donalds and Coffee; when election day comes and the majority of intelligent educated WHITE people get in that private polling booth they are NOT going to be able to conciously pull the lever for the HALF-BLACK guy. Don’t be surprised when the results come in and it is so close it must go to the electoral college and MC CAIN wins the election. Mark my words !
