I raised my three children in Anchorage during the 70’s & 80’s. My 53 year old SPECIAL daughter went to special ed and graduated from East High School in 76. She was a member of ARCA and received all the benefits of the advanced ideals that Alaskan parents provided for special needs children in Alaska.
Due to my husbands health we moved to the Lower 48 in the late 80’s and were soon sad to find that her opportunities were few and far between. Our government would pay the state/ nursing home if we put her in a home but allow parents nothing (no tax credit like normal children of illegal immigrants) if we want to care for our special needs children in our homes. You will open the minds of many Americans with your sponsorship of Special Needs Children.
You are needed even if the “supposed elite news media” does not understand truth speaking women like you or women like us who elect to love and keep our SPECIAL children. You are special!!

Back to reality. Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double. The trick is that Alaska’s government spends money on its own citizens and taxes the rest of us to pay for it. Although Palin, like McCain, talks about liberating ourselves from dependence on foreign oil, there is no evidence that being dependent on Alaskan oil would be any more pleasant to the pocketbook.

Alaska is, in essence, an adjunct member of OPEC. It has four different taxes on oil, which produce more than 89% of the state’s unrestricted revenue. On average, three-quarters of the value of a barrel of oil is taken by the state government before that oil is permitted to leave the state. Alaska residents each get a yearly check for about $2,000 from oil revenues, plus an additional $1,200 pushed through by Palin last year to take advantage of rising oil prices. Any sympathy the governor of Alaska expresses for folks in the lower 48 who are suffering from high gas prices or can’t afford to heat their homes is strictly crocodile tears.

As if it couldn’t support itself, Alaska also ranks No. 1, year after year, in money it sucks in from Washington. In 2005 (the most recent figures), according to the Tax Foundation, Alaska ranked 18th in federal taxes paid per resident ($5,434) but first in federal spending received per resident ($13,950). Its ratio of federal spending received to federal taxes paid ranks third among the 50 states, and in the absolute amount it receives from Washington over and above the amount it sends to Washington, Alaska ranks No. 1.

The owner of a company hired by the California Republican Party to register voters was arrested over the weekend on charges of voter registration fraud and perjury, officials said on Monday.

Mark Jacoby is accused of fraudulently registering himself to vote at a Los Angeles address where he no longer resides — his boyhood home — to meet a state law requiring all signature gatherers to register or be eligible to vote in California.

He did this twice, in 2006 and 2007, according to a statement issued by the California secretary of state, Debra Bowen. A spokeswoman for Bowen said investigators found the home at the address where he registered was no longer owned by Jacoby’s family.

Authorities also are investigating complaints that Jacoby’s company, Young Political Majors, or YPM, improperly registered voters as Republicans, said Ed Miller, a deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that dozens of voters claimed they had been duped by YPM employees into switching parties and registering as Republicans when they were asked to sign a petition seeking tougher penalties against child molesters.

Pamela, you sound pretty divisive…… Can you cite one thing that Obama has done…..One time he demonstrated leadership in the face of difficulty….Voting “Present” 143 times..does seem like leadership. A president cannot vote present.

Beth, watched the video..Well, part of it. Biden stated that Barrack did not give any money to ACORN.. OOps well there was that $84,000 they gave to an ACORN cell in Illinois…. It was money to get out the vote. Well, the group was not named ACORN. But, its office is in the same office as ACORN…and the members of the group are leaders of ACORN…. So, I guess as a slick lawyer he could state that it was not ACORN..But it would seem to be a distinction without a difference.

Sarah Palin as usual does not know what she is talking about. Even the most socialistic countries in europe like for example Sweden still have a lot of rich people and a lot of people that make a lot of money. Her stupidity is so obvious and so are all the people that believe in this socialist scare tactics.

Maybe try to google some statistic on countries, US is not the greatest place in the world to live.

Wait to McCains budget cuts kicks in, we will have a lot of cheap labor for companies when the unemployment reach 30%. Maybe then we will understand that a little bit of socialism is all that keeps us from starving or dying.

Go read a book or maybe take a trip out of country once.

I know the socialism of the rest of the world is scary for you all so maybe just a few minutes of the travel channel will open your ignorant eyes.

Socialsim for companies and crums for the people that what the republican party stands for, its sad to see how out of touch they are, the party that once was for the middle class.

Govenor Sarah Palin has more experience and has been vetted more then the Almighty Obama. I know lots and lots of Independants and even Democrats who are voting for McCain because of what Palin brings to table. I hope that the day after the election the Dems are not very sad, that would be a shame. ;0)

Sarah Palin is the real deal people! Alaska is definitely not broke like many other states in the US. Alaska is one of the most well run states in the country with a surplus…so much that Sarah is able to give money back to her people each year! That is more than any one else can say for the other states we live in. CA, MA, and MI, all Democratic states that are broke, looking for billions too since they are flat busted. Seems like to me Sarah takes care of her own people and she’d be a fine VP and take care of the rest of us too. Sarah is definitely the bomb and she truly does care…as for the rest of you who are negative and call yourself Americans, grow up and start looking at every issue, start taking care of yourselves instead of looking for the rest of us to take care of you. And Democrats, I want to keep my own money and decide what to do with it…I don’t want to pay for someone else’s healthcare but my own. I am tired of paying for generations of welfare recipients who are lazy and unwilling to work. I am sick paying taxes that our founding fathers would have revolted over!

Long ago we fought a revolution because of irresponsible Governmental taxation and oppression.

Just because our Government is not overseas, does not make it any better. Taxation in our country is insane and Obama only wants more. He has admitted to socialist tendencies and all of his past associates leave us with no other information to draw our conclusions from because he is such an inexperience person.

Boy, we can’t wait for Sarah to go to Washington and be “in charge” of the senate. Harry Reid will have to report to her. Palin’s constitutional interpretation probably have the Speaker of the House reporting to her also. This woman is such a joke…is the Repubs serious?

I am a mother of 5, born and raised in Iowa and Sarah Palin DOES speak to me and for me. Her down to earth, get the work done attitude speaks to me and she has a connection to me in my role as a working mother.

I would like to see what posters consider “good health care”—is good health care waiting months for tests like an MRI? Is it good health care that has Canadian physicians leaving their country in droves to practice in needy areas of the US, leaving their extended families and country of birth behind to practice medicine in an ethical way?

Think about it–what government run agency runs well? And we want the government involved in running more of our lives? What about personal responsibility? Will more entitlement programs solve this country’s problems? It is never going to happen until people learn they have to participate in their welfare and not depend upon the government for a hand out.

Just words, just speeches, just promises that will not be kept–that is all that is Obama.

At least Sarah speaks for me in saying that i want to my MY own decisions with MY money. I’m sorry, I don’t feel like paying for anyone else, except the ones that I care about. Call my heartless, but I want to keep the money that I earn

Really? She is attacking? How about talking issues? Jeez. This is nobody for elected office…anywhere.

Anyone voting for McCain based upon Palin’s “charm” is losing it. Why not just write in your favorite actor? Palin is scary and would love nothing more than to be President. Even the McCain camp cannot keep her in check. This is not exciting. It is dangerous.

I see Sara Palin as very well spoken. I see people who see otherwise as the villagers in the old childrens tale” The Emporers New Clothes”. They actually let media elites tell them what they see. Sara Palin was not devisive until she took garbage for six weeks or so. And why is she a slap in the face of intelligent women, because she doesn’t believe in abortion. By the way, did anybody notice that Obama lied about his relationship with Ayers, lied about taking public financing for his campaign, and now there are attack dogs after a private citizen who asked a tough question and made “the One” look bad.
