Yesterday on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read ‘Vote
Obama, I need the money.’ I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on an ‘Obama 08′ button, again I laughed as
he had given away his political preference– just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I
was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in
disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone
who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed
from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server
inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was
grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the
homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was
pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual
recipient needed money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than
in practical application. Stop the lies, deceit, higher taxes, total government control over you, Socialism, welfare fraud, illegal voting,….Stop OBAMA NOW !

The NYT just reported that Palin’s make-up girl, Amy Strozzi, was paid $22,800 for the first half of October. (And this is not even included in the $150,000 clothing budget). The make-up girl was paid more than McCain’s top foreign policy and communications advisers in that time. Shows someone’s priorities.

Suppose Obama wins (cringe) and he raises taxes on those making more than $250K. The waiter in Carolyn’s experiement (hysterical, by the way) probably works for a restuarant making more than $250K. That does not take much considering the large amount that must be paid in salaries, inventory, etc. So the restaurant gets taxed more - Guess who’s bottom line won’t suffer? The restaurant’s. They will make up the difference by either reducing the amount of jobs available or the level of pay. Sorry, no bonuses or pay increases anymore.

Now, what if you are thinking, “The company I work for doesn’t make $250K, so this won’t affect me.” You’re a consumer right? All those products you buy at the store will start to cost more. Trust me, the bottom lines of General Mills and Proctor and Gamble won’t suffer either.

The point is that you can’t look at Obama’s promise of not raising taxes if you make less than $250K and blindly assume that you will be better off. You may not have to pay more in income taxes, but you will most certainly pay in many other ways.

Ryan, I am a waitress and I fought hard because my boss wanted all the tips collected and given out evenly, I quit my job there because I was a better waitres than the others and earned more tips than the others but got less and worked twice as hard, My husband does own a small bussiness of trucks, we have 4 trucks and 3 employees, I work as a waitress to pay my taxes now at the rate now, because I don’t want to lose one of my drivers, we do make 250k a year, but trucks need fuel, need engines, tires etc so bottom line take home pay averages for my family 45k a year, have 3 kids in college no goverment grant for them because I am rich right??? and my oldest has a metal disorder which no insurance pays the meds which cost us over 1000.00 amonth and only pay 50 percent because it mental disorder, and it maxes out for life which we are over that amount now so all doctor visits we pay full price, Under Obama we do lose our bussiness, and 3 people will lose their job. and that means I wont have a home that We worked for the last 35 years to get. So why some of us don’t like him and don’t get it is because his plan does hurt us. I normally thank God for what I have every day and count every single blessing I have been given and I try with all my heart to help others less fortunate than my family, but you see the number 250k is alot of money to several people but do what I am doing and you see the pay check isn’t enough to cover the bills, P.S.I don’t have a cell phone, cable tv, go out to eat can’t afford those things my home is only worth 65,000 very average eat hot dogs, and mac and cheese tighten budget but only 250k, and Obama promises not to raise the taxes on you, which means to me if I made 249,999.99 I still will be in the boat I am already in. Gina, you wouldn’t be affected by the obama tax increase. Like all tax programs, the 250.000 cut-off is for taxable income, meaning business related expenses (maintenance of the trucks, salary to the 3 employees, etc) and other deductable items can be subtracted. If you therefore end up with 45.000 per year, you would stand to benefit under Obama’s plan (McCain’s plan would give you an approximate decrease of 320 $ in taxes, under Obama’s you would get to pay 1000 $ less).
