Colin Powell is a very respected individual but not a messianic voice deserving of adherence by all. Many individuals who are just as wise and trusted have also endorsed McCain. SACRAMENTO, Oct. 19 (UPI) — The owner of a firm hired to register thousands of Republican voters in California has been arrested in Canada for alleged registration fraud, officials said.

The Los Angeles Times reported Sunday that Mark Jacoby was arrested in Ontario by Canadian and California investigators late Saturday. California and local investigators charge that Jacoby fraudulently registered himself to vote at a childhood California home, but doesn’t live there any longer. They allege he registered fraudulently so he could meet the requirement that signature gatherers be registered in California, the Times said.

The California Republican Party had hired Jacoby’s firm, Young Political Majors, to register new GOP voters in the state.

However, dozens of voters said they were duped into registering as Republicans by the firm, saying they were told they were signing a petition to toughen penalties against child molesters. The Times said the firm was paid up to $12 for every state resident registered as a Republican.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office and several other agencies have begun investigations, the newspaper said. The Times said it was unable to reach Jacoby for comment.

Schwartzkopf grew up in the middle east, was a General serving during Desert Storm (which in my opinion his knowledge of the Middle Eastern culture was monumental in the success of Desert Storm), and is part of Mensa. I think that Schwartzkopf’s endorsement, which never waived, is much stronger than Powell’s. The Bush Administration did screw over Powell and perhaps this is his pay back. Hard working American families can’t afford another 8 years of Bush politics and by McCain’s own admission, he supported and voted with Bush 90% of the time. Sen. Normally, I’m not emotional in any way, but this morning, when Gen. Colin Powell gave the most brilliant, insightful, and glowing endorsement of Barack Obama and laid out the most common sense reasons why EVERY AMERICAN should vote for him, I couldn’t help but well up with pride at what courage and passion he displayed. Gen. Colin Powel is a great American hero and probably the most respected moderate Republican in America.

How anyone could continue to listen to the disgusting, vicious smears coming out of the McCain campaign, or even consider voting for John McCain, after hearing and digesting the very clear and crisp endorsement of Barack Obama from such a great and good man is simply beyond me! McCain represents the same failed polices, same old philosophy, same dangerous temperament, same ridiculous lack of intellectual curiosity that George W Bush displayed over the past 8 years. Barack Obama will be a break from all that nonsense. He will usher in a new era of hope, peace, and prosperity. It won’t be easy, but he can put us back on the right track. He is, quite literally, our last great hope!

America may be down, but do not count us out. Hope is making a comeback and positive change is blowing our way!
