yeah.. The McCains understand the struggle of the middle class. Get a grip… Johnny boy just wants to give corporate tax cuts. More trickle down economics. It has never worked and it never will. I’m just glad he’s losing..

Sorry, but a person who makes $ 4 million a year really isn’t going to be in touch with any of our realities……I don’t begrudge it or blame her….just don’t want her as first lady. She has never done with out food so she can pay the electric bill. She has never tried to decide between groceries and gas for the car. Her life is something so far removed from most of us .

She spends almost $1 million on CLOTHES every year. I am worried about paying my taxes…..and by the way JOE THE PLUMBER,,,,GET OFF YOUR DEADBEAT A*S AND PAY YOUR TAX BILL….people with a lot LESS are paying theirs and YOU CAN TOO

It does not take a rocket scientist to see who the real ELITIST is…..

it is strange that this amount of money will not make you ELITIST…..

More than $10 million in the past 2 years. No wonder they want to keep Bush’s economic policies.

I would like to be a beer heiress in my next life. An actual, modern woman indeed.

I think the original poster said :
Sorry, but a person who makes $ 4 million a year really isn’t going to be in touch with any of our realities……

OBAMA’S tax returns at a glance:

Total income: $4,238,165

Adjusted gross income: $4,139,965

Salaried income: $260,735

Net profit from books: $3,943,378

Federal taxes paid: $1,396,772

Neither candidate will be in touch with any of our realities. The difference is, one candidate doesn’t want YOU to be the one keeping more of the money YOU make in your enterprises. But it’s OK because he already made his millions.

Since when is it a crime to be successful? Isn’t that what we all strive for? Besides that, she is not out of touch with those who struggle. She works with several international charities and actually travels to the poverty stricken areas that don’t have food water or electricity.

Comment by Marc

John McCain comes from a privileged background and has never known poverty in his entire life. His family was powerful since he was a child.

Comment by jackiNH

Honestly, does it matter how much money any of them make??? They all make much more then the average american….please let us stick too the issues

Cindy McCain has used her fortune to benefit others, mostly impoverished children. She founded and ran the American Voluntary Medical team that went around the world providing medical and surgical treatment to poor children. She has worked and contributed extensively to charities such as HALO, Operation Smile, and CARE to name a few. She has travelled around the world many times over tirelessly seeing to the needs of children. This sense of love and giving to others is apparent in their own family. She is a shining example of the best of America, and would make a wonderful first lady. Michelle Obama is just now becoming proud of her nation, and she and her husband have given just pennies to charity in comparison to the McCain’s. Cindy’s father realized the American dream, the same one Obama wants to cut off at the knees.

Comment by SharkGirl

Sandy B, you bring up a good point. Since Obama is making more than $250K, does this mean he’s going to redistribute his wealth, too, like he wants to do with the rest of America, or is he exempt from his own socialism platform?

If he plans on redistributing some of his wealth, I’ll take some. *grin*

Its great to see that so many people have once again been seduced hook line and sinker in the oldest play in the Democrat playbook. Once again good old class warfare. Jealous have-nots asking for their “fair share”. You know what, stop trying to ruin America for everybody else just because you don’t have the drive to get off your own duff and come up with your own ideas. What has made America unique in world history is that our economic system and tax policy has given us an environment where business can start up with relatively low start up costs and regulations giving it a chance to build profit and flourish. But because of a culture of laziness and complacency America has changed into a people that don’t want to do for themselves and want to consistently find someone or something to blame for their own mediocrity. No I am not successful in monetary terms, my wife and I make around 100k per year jointly, but I would like to continue living and raising children in a country where ordinary people can pull ourselves from our own bootstrapes and make a real difference.

Comment by Steve WA

In a country that has had problems with the economy, you want a seasoned business man in charge like McCain. Not a welfare hand-out king like Obama.

Obama will charge Americans One Trillion more than McCain. Do you really thing that us Americans need to be penalized an additional one Trillion ???? The answer is NO.

Obama wants to tax the heck out of corporations, and in turn corporations will lay off YOU to compensate.

So who do you want as President ? Then answer is clear: McCain !!!!

I think republicans can kiss this election goodbye.

Today Senator Obama asked for a Special Prosecutor to get to the bottom of the alleged voter fraud that Sarah Palin and John McCain keep bringing up. How’s that for a first punch knockout??

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/17/obama-campaign-seeks-special-prosecutor-inquiry/

It’s a brilliant move since Obama has nothing to hide and ACORN has nothing to hide. McCain and the RNC on the other hand…

If Mukasey appoints a Special Prosecutor, not only will Obama be vindicated, McCain and the RNC will be exposed for massive voter fraud and purging of voter rolls. We’re on to ya, you betcha! If Mukasey does not appoint a Special Prosecutor, the connection will be made clearly for everyone to see! Bush’s DOJ is about to be put in a very uncomfortable situation!

If you don’t like watching republicans get exposed for the frauds that they are, I’d suggest turning off the tv for the next few weeks. It’s about to get interesting.

Comment by Steve WA

McCain is a good businessman, that is who you want in charge.

Not a Welfare hand-out kind like Obama.

Obama will cost you one TRILLION more dollars than McCain and that is the truth. Thank about it.

McCain is the clear best choice.

Comment by Steve WA

Do you want a good businessman running the country, or a Welfare hand-out kind who lies about his affiliation with Accorn ?

McCain is the only logical choice.

Oh come now, it was just four years ago that the Democrats nominated a man who’s wife is far more wealthy than Cindy McCain. It’s sure funny that the Democratic party that purports itself as the “savior” of the poor and struggling middle class would run John Kerry for President, a man with a gazillionaire wife! Wonder how many houses Teresa Heinz Kerry owns? There was no controversy over her vast wealth. See, it just goes to show how very unfair the liberals are in their criticisms. For shame.

This election is about simple choices

If you make less than $250,000 vote for Obama.

If you make more than $250,000 vote for McCain.

If you do not pay your taxes, do not have a plumbers license, are not registered to vote, make less than $50,000 / year, live in a fantasy world where you make more than $250,000 / year, and own a plumbing business, join the McCain campaign and change your name to “Joe - Plumber, Sixpack, Douchebag, etc..

Cindy McCain out of touch, I think not

Cindy McCain started as a special education teacher working with children with Down syndrome and other disabilities at Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Arizona. She later founded American Voluntary Medical Team (AVMT) which is a non-profit organization that organized trips for doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel to provide MASH-like emergency medical care to disaster-struck or war-torn third-world areas such as Micronesia, Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq, Nicaragua, India, Bangladesh and El Salvador. She led 55 of these missions over the next seven years,[with each being of at least two weeks' duration. AVMT also supplied treatment to poor sick children around the world.[37] In 1993, Cindy McCain and the AVMT were honored with an award from Food for the Hungry.

Michelle Obama joined a board of a food company where she allegedly took part in a 2005 decision to close a pickle and relish plant in La Junta, Colorado, putting 150 mostly Hispanic laborers out of work. The small town was devastated.

Cindy McCain started as a special education teacher working with children with Down syndrome and other disabilities at Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Arizona instead of joining the family business. I guess this would not be any reason for her to under stand the struggle with special needs children.

Later she founded American Voluntary Medical Team (AVMT) which is a non-profit organization that organized trips for doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel to provide MASH-like emergency medical care to disaster-struck or war-torn third-world areas such as Micronesia, Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq, Nicaragua, India, Bangladesh and El Salvador. She has participated in 55 missions, so I think she might have an understanding of what it is like to lose everything.

In contrast Michelle Obama joined a board of a food company where she allegedly took part in a 2005 decision to close a pickle and relish plant in La Junta, Colorado, putting 150 mostly Hispanic laborers out of work. The small town was devastated. I guess you could understand loss if you put the people out of work.

I don’t understand how this can be used against anyone. If anything, it demonstrates to me that McCain will less susceptible to corruption. There will be no quid pro quo deals, per se. Dems will cheer Madonna who makes 10 times that, and perhaps feel she is more in touch with the average person? Or how about all the other stars on the silver screen? If you’re going to start hating on those who have money start hating on Snoop Dog, Madonna, Dr Dre, 50 cent, and/or all your favorite stars. You see, Obama’s full campaign is based on the same premise as president Chavez. You appeal to the largest segment of society. In Venezuela it was the poor. In the U.S. it is everyone who makes less than $250,000. That will get him the votes and that will get him elected. You’re pawns being used by Obama to get elected. After he is elected, anything is fair game. I don’t trust Obama further than I can spit. Every association issue he was confronted with was waved off with a lie, initially, until he couldn’t avoid it, then he would denounce the person or behavior and received cheers. I don’t see or understand how or why. I saw a man who lied, then he took the next most convenient course of action once the details were uncovered.

Obama was not born wealthy. He worked for it. And the books are one time deal. Cindy’s income is based on capital gains, dividents, etc. Her wealth is well over $100 mill.

Listen to those of you who are jealous of their income and angry they make so much. Honestly you need to get a life and obviously stop being a judge on other peoples success. This is not news that Cindy Mcain is loaded and money she has inheireted from her father who actually realized the American Dream. Get off your high horses did you even look at the Obamas tax returns.
This is simply a way out for those of you who have such hate for Bush and Republican party and it is such a shame , hey at least Bush wasnt having sex in the oval office cheating on his wife.
If we want to make this argument about ppl making so much money lets put this into perspective what about sports players. They make way more than Mccain and they are provided entertainment not working for us the Country , you know the United State of America. Jealousy is all I see here. Look I make 38k a year and pay my share into taxes and thats life but im not settling myself to this amount I do hope one day of having a more comfortable income for my kids but this is what I have earned in life thus far in which the world is will to give back to me , maybe I need to work harder or be at the right place at the right time who knows. Lets not punish success and the ones who cheat the system will sooner or later pay the price one way or another.
Go Mccain and Pailin 2008!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Sandy B…..Cindy McCain is one of the most humanitarian woman in this world. She uses her wealth for good, when was the last time you heard about Michelle Obama going to a third world country taking care of poor children. Noooo she is in the Waldorf ordering caviar and lobster!!

Some of you are only showing your ignorance. The Obama’s made more money last year than the McCain’s did. Obama doesn’t care about you. He is only out to seize power. Less gov’t in my life. please. The democrats came up with social security and then bankrupted it. Name one time in the history of the United States that a big govt program worked and wasn’t mismanaged. Has the govt ever done anything right?…… and you want to give them more power?

Comment by Wake-Up!

Cindy made less than Obama did last year.Obama made 4.3 Million in 2007, from book sales. no politician knows how it is to be middle class and that includes Obama.

Followers get a dictionary an elitists is not someone who has money.

Elitist = the belief that some people or things are inherently superior to others and deserve preeminence.

Please followers know your facts.

Here is the difference about giving. McCains walks the walk while Obamas only talks the talk.

Senator McCain donates his royalties from his books to charitable organizations. This sum has totaled over $1,800,000 since 1998

In 2007, Senator and Mrs. McCain donated $210,933 from community assets to charity, of which Senator McCain’s one-half allocation is $105,467. This is 27.2% of his adjusted gross income for the year.

Most of Senator McCain’s contributions were made to the John and Cindy McCain Family Foundation, which makes direct contributions to charities

While McCains are giving well over 10% to charities the Obama gave less them 1% to charities until they decided to run for president. So for someone who thinks we should “spread the wealth around” Obama sure don’t mean himself.

Teresa, grow up. If obama was born in Kenya to an American he is still American. I was born in Germany and was there until I was one but still hold American citizenship. So, by this douches definition, all the military brats born overseas off base cannot run for the presidency? Are you nuts?
You need to refocus your energy to something a bit less ridiculous like the 9/11 conspiracy or something.

All four of the presidential/vice presidential candidates are millionaires. But look at who gave more to charity. Biden doesn’t seem to know what charity is, and Obama can say it he just can’t do it.

Alfredo, open mouth….insert foot! Have you looked at Obama’s return! LOL Sorry just found your jump off the cliff amusing this morning. Do you think Cindy McCain’s family was just born of wealth. Her father came back from the war with next to nothing and created wealth. Let’s be real here.

Comment by Michael

Everyone needs to Google ‘Cindy McCains tax return’…. looks like after a tax credit she only edned up paying about 3% in taxes and she’s worth Billions…while Working Class families like ours are paying almost 25% in taxes, that’s just wrong. Also they’re saying they reported earnings below 5 Million because you’re not considered “rich” until the 5 Million mark, that way McCain tries to appear like he’s relating to the Middle Class more, nice try. Cindy is just as foul as Palin. Americans now have this thing called the internet McCain…it makes it harder for you to shove your last minute desperate Propaganda down our throats.

Comment by A. Walden

To get an accurate picture, why not request the amount of Cindy McCain’s contributions to causes around the world. She probably has more insight into the plight of people in a variety of cultures than most of us have because she gives her time going to areas where help is desperately needed and gives of herself as well as her money. When Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt go to a depressed area and build a house or make a contribution of any kind, it is front-page news with nothing but praise for their goodness.

I’m middle class, college educated and have worked for what I have without depending on the government to supply my education or pull me out of a financial problem when times get rough. I certainly don’t expect the president of the United States to come running to my rescue - God gave me the ability to become self-sustaining and put me in a democratic country that made this possible. I have lived through a number of presidents and survived them all! The sense of entitlement Americans have developed is appalling!

All the rhetoric in the world won’t save either party if this country is turned over to Barack Obama and his band of Democrats. Better wake up while there is still time - stop worrying about what you don’t have and who does not understand your plight because the Republicans won’t be the only ones to suffer if the American voters throw this election to the far right.

Comment by Lisa

Obama has made millions, and paid about the same taxes as Cindy for 2007. However, he has only recently become rich. He can probably remember five years back, or even all the way back to his childhood when he really was poor. Cindy has always been rich, and John has been rich for a long time. John also was never poor. Not that I think having been poor is an important qualification for president, but since people seem to think the president has to have lived like them to understand them…

Comment by James CPA

Great Americans, in two years they paid $2,884,634.00 in taxes. I hope they earn more, because we need more Americans like the McCain’s to pay for Obama’s Liberal Social programs!!

Go McCain!!!!!!!!

Comment by OKLAHOMA FAN 4 MCCAIN PALIN

At least Cindy parents worked hard for their fortune and Cindy has too. Obama will be wealthy beyond any of our dreams elected or not, and how easy have we made that for him? Worse case he could go to Hollywood and make his fortune he shows great acting talent. Just ask him about Bill Ayers, Revrend Wright, Rezco or Acorn and he gives a splended preformance. Money will never be a problem for him again just all the rest of the poor fools that think he need to be president.

Comment by Pat Dziuk

Seriously, if you penalize success, which is what a country flourishes on because it creates jobs and supports the GDP - historically, you then hinder creative - tenacious - risk taking - goal reaching - forward thinking attitude and effort.

We will lose our country and freedom without supporting those who take risks.

We need to be on the forefront of technology and on-shore manufacturing and production.

A million dollar profit one year can easily turn into a two million dollar deficit the next as a business owner and risk taker (and likewise, a $250k income one year can turn upside down the next) … so why should we support overtaxing the risk taker when we have no plan to “support” them if there is a down turn. Perhaps we should get the media to report how many small businesses actually do go out of business in short order for some of those same reasons. An astounding amount of them … nearly 80%. So we over tax profitable years while gaining their fortitude to take the risk to our benefit, then say see ya when/if there is a down turn.

Totally wrong and detrimental to the Country.

Now I am not only talking about beer. I am talking about programs, systems, technology, medical, transportation, energy efficiency etc businesses. Everything.

With the attitude that we are jealous of the successful folks and therefore want them to spread wealth (except we won’t acknowledge their need for support if the wealth goes away) we show childish ignorance.

There is one thing stronger than all the Armies in the world and that is an idea whose time has come - Victor Hugo.

Ever Forward - Prosper - Create …

Let’s “spread around” that 4 mill that Obama made last year.

And regarding Obama’s suggested policies; I think he must have slept through Economics 101.

Comment by Brian

The is no doubt both families are worth a lot of money. What you need to look at is the character of the man running for President. Do not think for a minute, Senator OBAMA has not been influenced by such men as Rev. Wright and Bill Ayres. Anybody that believes he was a member of Rev. Wright’s church for more than 20 years and he never heard anything radical come out of his mouth until he saw the tapes on television is the biggest fool on earth. He was also in charge of distributing the money for Bill Ayres idealistic school classes. If there ever has been a situation of guilty by association, this is it.

If Cindy McCain is asked to show her tax returns.

Why hasn’t Obama come forward with his actual Birth Certificate and College records. Not the one posted on his website. I would like to she his health records and also school records from Indonesia.

Gee and I think if you look at the Obama 2007 Tax Returns you will see they are pretty much the
same as the one Mrs McCain put forth.
