Here I am taking a look at al the news, realizing the Joe the Plumber was a major plus for McCain and big minus for Obama, and when to my wondering eyes should appear on NBC and CBS but NEGATIVE - let me say that again - NEGATIVE stories about this poor plumber! Did you know he owed back taxes of somewhere around $1200? (which the tax guys says he probably didn’t even know he owed the money). Did you know he wasn’t REALLY talking about how much it would cost to own his own business when he said it would be $250,000 but he was REALLY talking about the profits he hoped to make from the business? Did you know he’s not even a licensed plumber? I can’t believe it! SO what!!! This is a guy with an honest question and now mainstream media is tearing him apart because he is on McCain’s side. Amazing!

Okay. Let’s add me to that list. Also a small business owner who knows that $250,000 is peanuts in the world of business - even very small business. I’ve worked out of my home, worked with consultants rather than hire employees, kept overhead as tight as possible, keep advertising down as much as possible, and I can tell you that $250,000 is minimum to stay in business! If Obama’s plan had been in operation when I started my business, I would NOT have been able to go in to business. And that’s a fact.

Watching the Joe the plumber video I noticed that OBAMA said something that i believe MCCAIN can coin a phrase for the the rest of his campaign called TRICKLE UP ECONOMICS” when he said that he was going to take Joe’s money spread it from the bottom up.

Joe works his ass off, takes all the financial risk and buys the business. He takes a minimum salary for the first 5 years so he has the cash flow to make payroll. He works the other half of his ass off and succeeds building a profitable business that employees 20 people. His business is a corporation and is already taxed on its profit at the second highest rate in the world. However, Joe still manages to earn a profit after taxes. Joe’s accountant tells him to take a reasonable salary of $175k. Joe’s wife makes $100k as an administrator. Their older, smaller house is paid for. They are putting kids through college. They do not qualify for financial aid because they make too much money. They do not have a mortgage write-off because they lived frugally and paid it off. Obama labels them as rich and sticks it to them for higher taxes. Joe decides the financial reward is not worth the hard work, stress and risk for owning and running his business. He does not expand and eventually shrinks the size of his operation. Existing jobs are lost and new ones are not created.

Obama has a solution for this. He has more of Joe’s tax money so he can “take care” of the unemployed people that would have otherwise had jobs with Joe.

You had to wonder if some of the TV commentators, Pat Buchanan for one and several others, were actually watching some other debate (or just totally incapable of any objectivity) as was substantiated when the public’s reactions came in. John McCain seemed very un-presidential as being nervous and even angry, as if on the verge of losing it at any moment. While Barack Obama seemed totally presidential as being calm and engagingly pertinent the whole time. The contrast was that McCain seemed totally stressed to make his political points and criticisms, while Obama impressed as genuinely directing himself to the people and to the issues important to the people. There wasn’t any doubt that Barack won the debate and that he came across as the better choice for president, in fact it wasn’t even close.

I have to agree with SUSAN M. I am a small business owner and struggling to keep my overhead down. I wish that someone would speak to the risk that Joe the plumber would be taking if he does invest and buy the business. If the business does not go well, do you think big government will be there to bail joe out? I doubt it. If he does well however, they will be there in a heartbeat….with their hand out wanting their piece of the pie.

Apparently what Joe didn’t realize is that he doesn’t pay taxes on the gross income from the business, but on the net income after paying employees and other expenses. If he’s trying to grow the business, he would be wise to invest some of that $280 grand instead of simply putting it in his bank account. If he’s not trying to grow his business then the extra $900 he would pay under the Obama tax plan does not seem like it will break him.

I’m voting for no tax increase, no socialized medicine, and no bench legislation. It is frightening to see a candidate who has no qualms about BIG government, big spending, no regard for his own public accountability and no respect for balance of power. I can’t believe that so many Americans are giving Obama a second thought. It must be the charisma, because it can’t be what he’s actually saying. Wake up, America, or you’ll regret the nightmare Obama brings to this country!

I dont like that we’re using an unlicensed tax evader for our campaign who isn’t registered to vote. Couldn’t we have sent another Joe six-pack in Ohio to ask Obama that question?

Wake up America! Finally someone asks a question that Obama actually ANSWERS! Doesn’t anyone ever notice that when he is asked a question he often brushes it aside and says something to the effect [let's get back to talking about what the American people want to hear about.] He doesn’t answer questions, he changes the subject and talks pretty and fluently about something else and people are falling for that.

Think Obama got caught off-guard by Joe? Plant or no plant, plumber or no plumber, owes back taxes or not - people may finally be hearing the alarm sounding on this one! Joe outed Obama and we all heard Obama’s answer to the question. Now all the dems are mad and hacking up old Joe. Joe is not releveant here. The QUESTION he asked was relevant as was the answer.

When the government gets to decide that YOU make too much money and they are going to take YOUR money and “spread it around” you will feel differently. When YOUR employer can no longer make payroll because, according to Obama, he makes too much money and you lose your job because that employer has to decide to downsize or go out of business - go back and thank your Obama. Oh, and Obama tells Joe that if he had been president these past 8 years that Joe would probably already own his own business….really? Because I thought perhaps Joe’s employer maybe had to get rid of some overhead and downsize because he was taking another hit from the government just as his business really took off and was successful. So, where is Joe now? Out of a job. And what about the success story of Joe’s employer? Down the drain as well.

If I work hard enough to make more than 250,000 a year, I would like to share it with MY parents, MY church, MY charities of choice. I’d also like to send my kids to college, not to mention still have some retirement for myself in the end. I get to choose where my money goes, NOT Obama, not the government. As for me and my family, we would like to wake up on November 5th and still be the United States of America. If Obama is elected, I’m not sure where we’ll be waking up….but I do know it will not be the country built by our founding fathers any longer. WE THE PEOPLE OR WE THE GOVERNMENT?

some democrats are so shallow. it does not matter how much ‘joe the plummer’ makes or whether or not he owes back taxes (like thousands of americans in this country). the point that some of you are missing is that if small businesses or companies are taxed even more they are going to have to make some major cutbacks. this of course means job losses, etc. why can’t you people see this? obamas plan is not the traditional ‘trickle down economy’ that america has enjoyed for most of its years, instead his plan is a ‘trickle up poverty’ plan. if businesses have to pay more taxes that means in a short amount of time the cost of living will increase even more since in the end you and i pay for all tax increases. some of you actually think it is ok to spread the wealth to some of the less fortunate that are lazy, liars, and would love to have a free ride. why work if your money is going to be given to bob down the road who is collecting disability and welfare since he hurt his back somehow at his old job and refuses to marry the gal he has been shacked with for 8 years and has 4 ba@@@@d children with? some of you just make me sick!

Once again McCain is misleading America. Turns out that Joe is not a Plumber after all and McCain is as we all now know not war hero, turns out he was just a prisoner. Being a prisoner does not give you the qualifications to lead America, especially when you are a confirmed verified Liar. Vote for whoever is the most honest and intelligent. Control your government or it will control you.
