Battle Ground VA Breaks Voter Registration Record

Virginia shattered its voter registration mark, according to their state board of elections. The record-breaking news means, of course, that VA voters in past cycles should see wave of new voters at polls on election day in this crucial battleground state. Since January, VA has a net gain of 436,00 new voters.Nearly 40 percent will be under age of 25 on Election Day. Women represent majority of new registered voters.

VA State Board of Elections Release

RECORD NUMBER OF REGISTERED VOTERS READY TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER

RICHMOND, VA – This week Virginia recorded the largest number of registered voters in its history.

Since January, Virginia has experienced a net gain of 436,000 new voters for November’s election. This is the largest surge in voter registration that Virginia has ever experienced. The State Board of Elections and registrar’s offices throughout the state received an onslaught of new voter registrations prior to the October 6 deadline. Virginia’s total number of registered voters is now 5,021,993.

Nearly 40% of the newly registered voters across the Commonwealth will be under the age of 25 on Election Day 2008. Trends show that, regardless of age, females represent the majority of new registered voters.

Voters in Virginia are assigned to precincts based on their residential address and the state database is monitored frequently to protect against voter fraud and duplicate registrations.

Obama equals higher taxes which equals no jobs!

If Obama wins I will be curious to see what all the Obama fans say in a year or two

after all thier jobs dry up.

This is exactly when enough patriotic Americans get fed up with Bush and the Republicans and their war and their economic meltdown.

Curious what exactly you think the repubs did over the past 8 years to make the economy better, or increase jobs, or better the value of the dollar, or decrease the cost of energy, or make us safer from terrorism. If Obama does absolutely nothing in his presidency, he will be a better president than Bush.

Yes! One of those newly registered, under 25 voters is my daughter, who voted McCain a few days ago on her absentee ballot (college). Virginia also passed a law that we can’t wear campaign shirts, buttons, etc., to the polls on election day. I suppose they are worried about fights breaking out at the poll, since this is such a volatile election.

If these young people did not have the initiative to register on their own, and have registered because they have been swayed by the indoctrination of what passes for public education of Virginia, and if they have not intelligently considered both candidates, being informed and cognizant, God help us.

Comment by marj

Pamela, Obama fans do not have jobs to lose. They are the parasites on honest, hard-working people.

Comment by marj

When I go to the grocery store in southern Virginia, how come the young black people with clipboards wanting to know if someone has been registered to vote, do not come up to me?

Those of you “blaming” ACORN for large voter sign-ups in Virginia are clueless idiots just towing the Republican party line.

I live in Virginia, am 38 years-old, and registered in January for the first time to vote…VIA THE STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS WEBSITE, which is how everyone I know has signed up.

Though I’m sure it makes you feel better to think that people couldn’t possibly be signing up themselves in high numbers because they’re very motivated to vote this year. Seems Republicans just want a reason to be able to feel like the election was “stolen” from McCain should he lose…but if he should win, will you still feel that ACORN could have stolen it for him???

It amazes me how partisan people are these day. It’s very sad that Republicans seem to think that all Democrats are liars and cheaters and awful people, and Democrats seem to feel the same way about all Republicans. It’s pretty dangerous when you start judging people based on the party they choose to support.

BTW, in Viriginia, NO REGISTERS BY PARTY!

deb, you are a complete moron. there has been one terrorit attack since bush has been president. after that, he went after them and never gave them another chance. how many attacks were there when your god clinton was president? let’s see….1993 world trade center bombing. unibomber. ohklahoma city bombing. olympic park bombing. those are just a few.

if our country falls to terrorists then there is no economy. do you people blame bush for the economy? he’s head of the EXECUTIVE BRANCH. if you want to blame someone, it’s the LEGISLATIVE BRANCH WHO IS AT FAULT, CONGRESS. guess who controls congress? THE DEMOCRATS

go get informed

Hey if you like the way things have been going you will love The Maverick. One question though? If he agreed with Bush 90% of the time will his 10% turn this Country around? I am still waiting on fundamental differences he has with President Bush. Someone please tell me where he differs on with Bush on the issues that effect everyday Americans.

Pamela dearest… In case you did not know, we have run our national debt into over 10 trillion dollars, we are in war and neither raising or lowering taxes, that either candidate have proposed is going to hurt the job market…

Second, a lot of jobs are already lost, and will never come back, whole plants are closing down for good and no new jobs are being created.. Feds today said we are in a recession.. which means even more job looses.. Add higher prices on gas food and energy..

So if we dont do like all democratic president have done after a Bush or Reagan, create a surplus, we may go bankrupt as a nation..

Pamela… put the Kool-Aid down and step away slowly… and check the facts about Obama tax plan. Just because McCain says something over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again doesn’t make it true. But I’m sure he’s proud of you for giving up the ability to think for yourself.

DEMS rush to pass the BAIL OUT that Pelosi blames President Bush and Republicans for economic crisis. Why would the DEMS be in such a rush to defuse a crisis that they did not start? They were pretty loud about their declaration. Did they do it so citizens would not investigate who was truly at fault? Why would the DEMS really want to bail out the Republicans? People - think. Dems would not, you know what, on a Republican if he was on fire to put it out. I think this amusing. Can you see through their ploy and whom was at fault? I do not blame our kids for being fooled. I blame their parents for teaching them how to be leaders and not be lead.

The authorities need to investigate ACORN’s voter fraud in Virginia, just like in Ohio and all the other swing and battleground states. Obama’s ACORN group has been submitting fraudulent forms in Virginia as well. STOP Obama from stealing the election!!!

I, like EVERY person I know, registered to vote here in Virginia via the state website!

Though I know it makes people who hate Obama feel better to think that IF Obama wins, it could ONLY be because he somehow cheated. Pathetic…especially since many feel that’s exactly now GWB won it 2000. Funny how people change their opinions based on whether the subject favors their candidate or the “enemy”.

This country is WAY to partisan, and it’s very sad to me.

Who is running for US President? Obama and Bush or Obama and Mc Cain, if the people don’t know who they are voting for it is because… Mickey Mouse can register to vote in the US and does not have to show ID. Mickey Mouse is a Disney Character and everyone knows Mickey, I guess he does not need an ID. Even Identical twins have different traits that can be identified.. what’s with the McCain and Bush confusion they are not even related!

People should be worried about the fact that in these dire times Obama has money to pay Acorn, Waste it on Ads and Prime Time…He will have a great time as President, Obama’s greatest strength is his ability to spend.

Comment by Jen

For all accusations about ACORN, please take note that Virginia has been investigated by the federal government for implying students would lose dependancy status by registering to vote here. No ACORN organizers were present at the DMV when I and a whole lot of other people showed up to register on Oct. 6. 8 years of Bush policies and a few weeks of Palin provide plenty of motivation to vote without ACORN’s help.

Obama/Biden ‘08
