Palin Disses Biden in his Hometown

SCRANTON, PA– The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee came to her rival, Joe Biden’s hometown today and went after the native son for not supporting clean coal and off-shore drilling. Throughout her criticism of the Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee, a Palin supporter shouted, “Go Home Joe!” This is not a new attack, but it is the first time she has gone after him in the town he grew up in.

“Joe Biden had said that there is no such thing as clean coal when we talk about clean coal technology that is needed. He said–he said as a matter of fact even if there were clean coal, in an Obama administration it would be fine if China used it, but it wouldn’t be used here at home. Now that’s nonsense.” Palin said, “Biden also has called environmentally friendly offshore drilling he’s called it raping the outer continental shelf. Both he and Barack Obama have opposed off-shore drilling. Our opponents keep saying no to sound, responsible energy solutions and here again Americans will have a clear choice on November 4th.”

Joe Biden was last in Scranton on Sunday–at the same venue–stumping for his ticket with the Clintons. Hillary Clinton’s family also hails from this Rust Belt town.

Palin is referring to comments Biden made on the ropeline last month in Maumee, Ohio where the Democratic nominee told an environmental activist who asked him why coal is necessary given alternatives such as solar and wind, “We’re not supporting clean coal.”

But, Biden has clarified his statement saying he does believe in investing in clean coal technology and he always did he just meant that he’s not supporting it over other, cleaner alternatives.

At her rally, Palin praised her running mate’s new economic plan launched today and said it will help families “keep their homes and save failing neighborhoods and bring stability to our housing market.”

“So just this morning John McCain set forth a plan to help those who have been hardest hit in this economic crisis. Our pension and family security plan. This is going to get our country through a time of testing. And it’s going to get the economy back on the right track. Under this plan, we will help American families keep their homes and save failing neighborhoods and bring stability to our housing market.”

Palin will now travel to New York to meet up with John McCain for a fundraiser in New York sure to bring in high dollar donations for the GOP ticket.

As someone who was born and raised in Scranton, I can tell S. Palin that bad mouthing J. BIden in his hometown won’t work.

Talk about a stupid campaign move! Why waste any time campaigning were you are not going to win…your opponents home town…when you are running from behind?

The people who are running the McCain/Palin campaign don’t know what they are doing.

Comment by Fred

Pitbull certainly was accurate for her wasn’t it, folks? Yup, big mouth, lots of teeth, not too bright. But it’ll still be a little sad when McCain has to “put her down” on the 5th of Nov.

Comment by Jason Whitman

As an environmental engineer I should state there is no such thing as 1) clean coal and 2) environmentally safe drilling.

The term “clean coal” refers to technologies used to lessen the release of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere as well as lessen the environmental impact of coal mining but it does NOT mean that there are zero emissions nor zero environmental impact.

Environmentally safe means NO environmental effects. Spills during hurricanes, hitting gas pockets that release gases into the water, mechanically disturbing the ecosystem is far from being environmentally safe.

Southernboy, ‘pray that Obama screws up?’ That about sums it up for their entire campaign, doesn’t it? McLeash and his pit bull can’t win on their own merits, so now they’re flinging mud and holding their breath, hoping their opponent messes up so bad that it launches them ahead.

That’s one strong team you got there!

To the comments of -As an environmental engineer I should state there is no such thing as 1) clean coal and 2) environmentally safe drilling.

Yes there is such a thing as clean coal which is decreasing the amount of CO2 into our atmosphere. Its more environmentally friendly….not safe. And there is such a thing of environmentally friendly drilling….not safe. You were right about one thing you cannot have zero emissions and nor zero environmentally impact, but we can decrease the impact that it would have on our environment.

Comment by Eric from NM

… McCain would have a better chance to win if Palin had an “injury” and had to withdrawal or at least shut up until Nov. 5th.

Comment by Robin C

Why Scranton would support Joe is beyond me…he’s lied about his “coal mining” family and his roots…he moved to Delaware when he was a boy. His dad never worked in the coal mines and he doesn’t believe in coal as an energy source, clean or otherwise. Coal mining towns better take a good look at Obama and Biden before voting for the democrats…they, along with Pelosi and Reid, have made their opinions about coal very clear and it has no place in their agenda.

I saw excerpts of the rally. Sarah again drew quite a big crowd in Joe Biden’s ‘backyard’. Remember, he invited folks to a hometown restaurant….that has been closed approximately 20 years. I am sure his ‘neighbors’ are quite smart enough to know whose policies will be better for all Americans. Most Americans prefer smaller government and lower taxes….seems despite the worsening financial condition that Obama just adds program after program…despite what he claims - 95% of Americans will see tax increases if Obama becomes president - even the 30 to 40% who don’t pay taxes now.

Where did Sarah Palin say in her speech that clean coal technology was 100% environmentally safe? I am not an environmental engineer but common sense says it isn’t. Funny thing is Obama wants funding for clean coal technology too. If I remember clearly Biden was called in by the campaign on that one.

Comment by Lacy Lady

I have been looking for a video of Palin’s speech today in S. Penn. I heard there was some more of the hate stuff going on. Does anyone know where I can find the video so I can hear/see, just what went on. I thought they were going to muzzle her. But apparently not.

Let her campaign in Scranton. Too bad they can’t spend the rest of the month in PA. It looks like Palin might have found out that as long as she’s praying for protection from witches and Alaska to be it’s own country she shouldn’t call anyone else a fanactic

What a drag on the GOP ticket. I feel sorry for McCain but it is shameful that he would put himself ahead of his country and select dumb-wit for his running mate. They are going to be left far behind in the race! McCain handed the presidency to Obama on the day he chose Ms. DUD Palin as the running mate. They are going to keep running from behind even after the race is OVER and Obama is going to have a LANDSLIDE!

I find it interesting that as many people turned out for Sarah Palin in Scranton in the middle of a work day as turned out for Biden, Bill and Hillary on Sunday. Don’t put PA in the Democrats slot just yet.

Comment by Janet

I was born and raised in Scranton, Pa. and just because Biden was born in Scranton doesn’t make it his hometown. His family moved to Delaware when he was 11. He didn’t have anything to do with Scranton until it was a swing state and now all of a sudden our hometown is his hometown!! I wonder how the people of his real hometown of Claymont, Delaware feel about him blowing them off!!!!

she’s not one to shy away from a fight. good for her!!! we need more feisty women like her instead of more pelosi-type hags in congress who nag but won’t fight and then blame others for their failures. we know that palin will fight for what she stand for and will not crumple under pressure. this is the new kind of women our country need—one who will go the enemy territory and rip them apart. you go girl!!!!!

It’s so unfortunate that McCain and the GOP picked Palin. I must say, even as a liberal democrat, that I have a tremendous amount of respect for John McCain even though I may not agree with many of his positions. If he had chosen a more suitable running mate for this election, I would be less timid about a republican holding office for a third term in a row. Sarah Palin, however, is just too much. Her hardball trash talk is overshadowed by her innability to hold and convey relevant positions on important issues, and as much as I appreciate the culture and opinions of ‘hockey moms’ around the country, I just don’t feel comfortable having one being second in command or possibly president.

Comment by Mike Hill

As a reformed Democrat,it always amazes me how these liberals live right up to expectation, and beyond…personal attacks on people and issues you have no facts on, abolition of personal responsibility and control of ones OWN future, instead let the government tell you what and how and when to think, ignorance of their own financial future, and how to control it,and ready to tax THEMSELVES ignorantly into oblivion, inability to protect themselves and our country, they would rather try and “talk” a suicide bomber out of his TNT vest just as he pushes the button, support of self-absorbed “Jane Fondas” who would rather sleep with the enemy, all wrapped up in heavy doses of denial when they leave our country in a “Carteresque mess”…they say they are three
types of people, those that KNOW what’s going on (conservatives),those that DON’T KNOW what’s going on (most Americans)…and at last is the liberals, who don’t even suspect theres anything going on!…the blind leading the blind!

Jason (Environmental Engineer),
While factually correct about the definition of clean coal you make it sound as though clean coal is a lie. Is this what you mean?
Clean coal technologies drastically reduce emissions. Industries have been reducing environmental impact for years. The industrial facility that I work for pulls millions of gallons of water from a local river a day and the water is treated and released back to the river cleaner than what the original river water was. The technology used to clean the emissions from a tree bark burning boiler is outstanding.
We have industry in this country that still needs to produce steel, paper, energy, etc. These technologies that you seem to vilify are what allow this country to reduce environmental impact and still have JOBS. New energy technologies need to be sought after, researched and tested - HOWEVER we still need to keep people working. Stop villifying this country’s willingness to have well paying jobs and protect the environment!!!!!!!!!!
New technologies are on the way but until they are viable we need to allow people to work.

Comment by Helen, MA

Why is anyone listening to this mouthpiece in high heels. Her job is to smear and distort facts. She can do it with complete openness and incredulity because she doesn’t know any better.

Little Miss “drill baby drill” doesn’t know anything about clean coal, solar energy, wind power or nuclear technology. She’s reading off a script she didn’t write………..and McCain doesn’t want to be responsible for.

I’m so sorry that she is allowing herself to be used in such a way. What a disgrace to the female gender and an embarrassment to Alaska. Surely all Alaskans can’t be this naive and needy for attention.

Stop trashing Obama and read up on real issues so you have something important to say. You’re really boring.

I know what I’m talking about . I lived in a comunist country for 30 years before God helped me to come and live in this great country that so many of you just want to destroy, and give joy to our enamies. I know one thing about McCain: he is never going to sell this country and he cares about the people in it. He proved that by being a POW and throught his life. I might not agree with him on everything ,but I’m not going to trust and put this country in Obama’s hands when I don’t really know who he really is. I don’t think you realise how much power you are giving to Obama, Pelosi, Read, if there is not balance to keep them in check. Wake up people before is too late. If they took the time to open there eyes and understand what the polls/people are telling them they would stop the negative campaining immediately, replace Palin tonight/tomorrow with Romney an economic specialist and TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES. It is there only chance to sway the independants. Sarah & Todd Palin are not ready to govern this great country. Just because you happen to live in Scranton for less than a decade, many years ago, doesn’t mean you can claim it as your “hometown” for political gain. He doesn’t even know what restaurants are still in Scranton. People know more about Scranton from watching the Office, then Joe Biden knows about Scranton from living there. It looks like there are a lot of engineers on “clean” coal technology out there. But you do not need to be an engineer to understand that no matter what when coal burns, it produces CO2.

That so called “clean” technology is just to try to trap the CO2 produced into big reservoirs underneath. I do not call that a technology…. It is a call for disaster.

He lies when he says he will spend $1 Trillion in new spending on old failed social programs and then cut taxes for 95% of Americans (of which 40% don’t pay taxes). Does he really think people are that stupid?

I love when the dems get their panties all in a bunch over Palin. She is the ANTITHESIS of OBAMA COMMUNISM. Hey environmental engineer, you will be out of a job when the Saudi’s take over our nation by default because they don’t give a —- about your environment!

What in the world is all of this Palin support for. She is one of the most unethical governors in the United States. Palin is on the take and writes her own rules.

This is what an AP report reveals about Palin, “ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Sarah Palin, whose reformer image took a hit in a report concluding she abused her powers as Alaska Governor to settle a family score, has skirted state ethics rules before for personal benefit.

According to an Associated Press review of records, Palin also used her office to help friends and supporters.

Palin’s first try at statewide office, after six years as mayor of Wasilla, was an unsuccessful run for lieutenant governor in 2002. City records show she improperly used her City Hall office and equipment to raise money.

She pummeled opponents for giving oil companies and other businesses too much control of state government. Yet as governor, she appointed the founder of an engineering firm that received $6.8 million in state business as head of the transportation department.

Also, she has accepted dozens of gifts worth tens of thousands of dollars since taking office, including two free trips last year that she failed to report on disclosure forms despite criticizing state legislators for the gifts they take. ”

Wake up America - this gun slinger Hockey Mom from Alaska is as corrupt as they come.

If she’s Christian, she should have read proverbs..What a mother and a wife should behave like.
