Addressing Home State Dems, Biden Loosens Up
DOVER, DE – After a day of bashing McCain that started near Dover, New Hampshire, Senator Joe Biden returned to Dover, Delaware – addressing his state’s annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner and reminding the assembled Democrats to punch his name twice in 2008.
“Don’t get carried away with this Vice President stuff, I am on the ballot running for my 7th term,” said the Delaware Senator, who in addition to running for VP is also up for reelection. “So don’t forget. Don’t stop at the top of that ticket, walk your way down. You can vote twice for the first time in your life for the same guy and it be legal.”
Biden, who choked up the first time he addressed Delaware Democrats at the national convention, escaped the night without shedding a tear. But he made it clear how much the people in the state have meant to him.
“We Bidens think of the Delaware Democratic party — it sounds corny — but we think of a lot of you folks who’ve been with me for so long as family,” he said.
While he may have avoided emotional pitfalls, Biden certainly seemed comfortable in front of the familiar faces — revealing that his instinct was to be more aggressive in the debate with his Republican rival Sarah Palin. “At least I think it was a debate,” he said to laughs. “I saw it on Saturday Night Live. Damn, I wish I had his hair!”
Biden said Palin turned to him during their debate – “as she was winking at you all” – and said she’d been listening to his speeches in the senate since the second grade. In fact, Palin never used the line that night; she’d said it on the trail and in interviews leading up to the debate.
“I guess just like she can see Russia from Alaska, she can see Delaware from Alaska. She’s got great eyesight,” Biden said. He told the crowd he was inclined to get in a few zingers at her expense – “but I was trying to be a good boy. I know you were all surprised I was, weren’t you? You were all surprised.”
As for Wednesday’s presidential debate, Biden had some advice for viewers. “For part of this next debate, do what I did for part of the last two debates. Literally turn the sound off,” he said. “Watch the body language of both men. You can sense it folks, you know it when there’s a command presence. You know it when someone has the confidence and the certitude about himself and what he believes in.”
<!–[if supportFields]> TIME \@ “HH:mm:ss” <![endif]–><!–[if supportFields]><![endif]–>Even so, Biden felt the need to defend his running mate even to Democrats, who he seemed to think might be swayed by McCain’s attempts to portray Obama as somehow un-American. “For those of you who are wondering about Barack Obama, don’t wonder. Don’t wonder,” he said.
Pounding the podium, the Delaware lawmaker continued, “I’m tired of this stuff about Barack Obama. I guarantee you I know the guy and I know his family. And let me tell you something. This guy knows how much he owes this great country, and he knows it couldn’t have happened anywhere else but the United States of America.”
“So I don’t want to hear about how different he is. I don’t want to hear it. He’s like me. He’s like me. And all of you.”
In addition to delivering the keynote address, Biden was in town to accept the Alexis Byard award – named after a prominent Democrat from a family that sent 5 men to the United States Senate.
Biden said he felt a certain kinship with one more than the others. “Thomas F Byard, who was the president pro-tem of the United States Senate and ran for President of the United States in 19 – in 1884. He lost,” Biden said. “He lost, but he became secretary of state. That sound familiar?”
“It ain’t all bad when Delaware’s senators run for president and lose, there’s another life, apparently. A career path I considered.”

oh shut up Joe
We want to know if Barack Obama is going to promise to not chain smoke around Joe Biden because Joe Biden had asthma as a teenager. The reason that Joe Biden could not fight for his country in 1968 during the peak of the Vietnam War was that he had teenage asthma. Joe Biden had horribly bad luck, ninety percent of all children are diagnosed with asthma before age six but Joe Biden was unlucky enough to be in the ten percent group of children who acquire asthma after age six and became asthmatic when he was a teenager. After five student deferments while he attended college and law school, his teenage asthma finally came to the attention of his local Selective Service Board and he missed the opportunity to serve his country during time of war as an officer. But for his bad luck with his teenage asthma diagnosis, Joe Biden could have gone in and served his country honorably as a officer and a gentleman and perhaps as a Judge Advocate Law Officer similar to his son. We hope that Barack Obama will not smoke in front of Joe Biden because the smoke could aggravate Joe’s asthma that prevented him from serving his country during time of war. We can not trust Barack Obama on health care if he is a smoker.
Obama Tells Tax-Burdened Plumber the Plan is to ‘Spread the Wealth Around’… If this is not socialism then what it is. Obama is a socialist whit socialist ideas. When you talk about spreading the wealth its socialism we don’t need a fidel Castro or an Hugo Chavez in the USA. We need a real us president
Biden is right about Obama being like him in that they are two of the most far left liberal democrat socialists in congress. By the way, doesn’t Sen. Biden remind you of another democrat screamer: John Dean… More of the same…
I am profoundly uncomfortable with Sen. Biden’s flip-flop endorsement of Sen. Obama… Does anyone get that?
If it sounds to good to be true, it is……
Birds of a feather flock together. Both are dishonest with the american people and both have blood on their hands by voting pro-abortion (the butchering of babies). Now they want to run our country. It is hard to comprehend that a mother or grandmother would vote for these two.
Biden is alot more negitive than Palin and the news media only hits on her. At least she
knows what the Vice President does and she knows that there was no TV in 1029. Why
is Biden getting all these breaks. Ask yourself if this Country that we all love is really
ready to be a socialist Country. I’m not
You think that McCain will be beat…don’t count on it! Everyone said Bush would not win his second term…Everyone thought McCain was left for dead during the primary. Well Lord and Behold Bush won his second term, McCain won the Republican primary he came up from behind lake a snake in the grass and clinched the primary. The best think is don’t count him out just yet, remember America always loves the underdog. America will pick him up and will carry him across the finish line…just wait and see!
Minister Farrakhan (Muslin) Speaks About Barack Obama Being the Messiah There is something Very Wrong With This!
In a statement now immortalized in a YouTube video, Obama promised ACORN and other community organizations in an Iowa presidential campaign forum for Democrats in December 2007 that if elected president, he would bring them into the White House to help shape the agenda of an Obama administration. “[B]efore I even get inaugurated, during the transition, we’re going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. We’re going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America,” Obama pledged .Obama’s failure to disclose the true nature of his relationship with ACORN is very surprising and deeply troubling
I hope all you McCain/Palin lovers wake up and realize that they aren’t the way!!!!
So, Biden is so scared of normal American people , who just are trying to get the facts and answers ?
Is he not scared of :
1. Meetings held in Aiyers living room ?
2. The musings of Farrakhan type radicals ?
3. Rezko mafia dealings in Chicago ?
4. Rev Wrights sermons for past 20 years ?
this whole republican campaign is so lame and strange. McCain would destroy his legacy for good. The maverick would hitherto be forgotten forever. A McCain /Palin win would be more disastrous than Bush/Cheney. The more horrible prospect is that an ignorant person like Palin would be ushered into national level politics. We cannot let that happen. Bush has done enough injustice to this country. Now lets not do any injustice to ourselves by choosing MaCain/Palin.
Obama 08
He is so confident he will win, he is going to run for both offices. Aren’t the people of Delaware lucky? Since he is loosening up, maybe his forehead will look more natural now.
connie stop cutting and pasting that silly and hateful comment on every thread. Obama and Farrakhan are not even acquaintances. Anyone can say anthing about anybody - how is it his fault what Farrakhan chooses to say. Dont believe every junk you read on hate sites.
Connie,
youtube link to Obama promising ACORN part of the make-up of the Whitehouse! The first is the proof that Community Change is intertwined with ACORN.
The second video shows Obama being introduced, with accolades, by Deepak Bhargava, ACORN leader of community reinvestment and fair housing executive director of Center for Community Change.(may I point out the reason for our housing crisis).
The third video is the first but the beginning is cut off so you don’t see who introduced Obama.
So Obama claiming he “didn’t” know will be bull because this is the link that proves Community Change.org is also intertwined with ACORN. Like they said themselves you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig.

And Obama is the way?
Poor Isreal
I hope and prey that the people who are voting for McCain, are the 20% of think President Bush is doing a good job.
Another thought:
The McCain/Palin ticket is laughable.
In school, I constantly heard of American being a “melting pot” or “mixing bowl.” Today’s neoconservatives just want our country to be a big bowl of nuts.
