Palin Tries to Keep Virginia Red

VIRGINIA BEACH — In front of one of the largest crowds the GOP ticket has seen, Sarah Palin introduced her running mate and said the road to the White House goes through this formerly reliable red state that is now very much in play.

“This election is going to come right down to the wire here and it’s pretty clear that the road to victory in 2008 it’s going to run right through the Hampton Roads.” Palin said referring to the Virginia Beach community, “We’re counting on the people of America’s first region to help us send John McCain to the White House. Yes! Virginia are you ready to help carry this state to victory?”

Virginia has not voted for a Democrat since 1964, but recent polls show Barack Obama ahead of John McCain here.

The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee told the crowd at the Virginia Beach Convention Center that she knows there is “anger” in the country citing amongst other issues “voter fraud” eliciting cheers and chants of “Nobama!” from the crowd. She told her supporters to turn their “anger into action.”

“We know all across America right now there is a lot of anger. There is anger about the insider dealings of lobbyists and anger about the greed on Wall Street and anger about the arrogance of the Washington elite and anger about voter fraud,” Palin said. “America let John McCain turn that anger into action!”

She also went after the Democratic ticket saying they are looking to the past and the strategy is not working, “You know for a campaign that says it is all about the future our opponents sure do a lot of talkin’ about the past and pointing fingers in the past. That strategy is finally wearing a little bit too thin. Enough is enough.” Palin said, “They look to the past because that’s where you find blame. We are joining you to look to the future. That’s where we find solutions.”

Members of the crowd held signs that read “Keep Virginia Red!” and that is exactly what Palin will continue to try and do today. Her next stop is the Richmond International Speedway.

Look at what Obama is stating and you just might see George Bush there right with him. CNN states
the good Senator is riding along with George Bush of 20 seperate issues.

Republican Palin must be forgetting that ACORN signs up Republicans as well as Democrats - they sign people up; that is what they do. They are not connected to a party. They just need better oversight on election day. Then she forgets that it is the Republican candidate who has the lobbyists in his back pocket.

It is still disheartening to see that Cindy, John and Sarah all have to appear together to draw a crowd. I guess it makes more sense than dividing up and drawing about 300 in a crowd.

In McCain’s talk he is trying to talk to the heart of the people by talking from the heart to the people. But his talk makes it sound like he is admitting to not making the right decisions. He is trying to tell them that he is going to turn things around. That isn’t going to happen unless he starts with a fresh campaign staff and gets his running mate on the same page with him. And one thing that was very contrary to his promise earlier is that he would never bring his sons into the campaign; he would not talk about them. Well, he didn’t, but he had his wife do it. A very desparate ploy for points. However, that sort of didn’t work because it was connected to a vote that both Obama and McCain voted the same on.

I am extremely concerned about Gov. Palin’s future son-in-law Levi Johnston, dropping out of high and not registering to vote. What message are we sending to our future generations?

Palin is the one bringing up the past…..she’s so hateful, it’s too bad. Her constant rhetoric
is just plain immature.

The Republican party deserves a better candidate representing them.

I don’t know why everyone has a problem with Palin. She seems very smart and down to earth.

One of the only constants in life is change. You can either embrace change or hide from it. That is the choice, bottom line, in this Presidential election. Do we want another 4 years of the same failed policies? Do we hide from the changes in the rest of the world and our own domestic issues or do we embrace the changes, understand them, master them, and excel above the rest of the world again? That is what we are choosing between.

The single biggest issue facing our country is our energy dependence. It effects every aspect of our current problems in terms of domestic policy, economically, and in respect to foreign policy.
Because we produce 25% of our country’s need for oil, we import the rest. We are borrowing massive amounts of money from the Chinese, right now estimated at over $500 billion, to give $1 trillion to the oil exporters of the Middle East. Another 5 years of that and our standing as the world’s greatest economy is over. As it is, our national debt is over $11 trillion dollars.
In regard to foreign policy, our dependence on foreign oil handcuffs our ability to display strength and will internationally. Why were we unable to bring significant pressure on Russia to leave Georgia? Russia exports 30% of the world’s oil. Why haven’t we threatened and been more aggresive with Iran with their nuclear threat? They are the 2nd largest exporter in OPEC. Our foreign policy is being dictated by our energy dependence.
An investment now in renewable energies will accomplish multiple objectives. First, it allows us to regain our international standing, for example, “don’t push us, or you’ll be sorry, we don’t need you anymore.” Second, a significant investment in renewables will yield up to an estimated 5 million new jobs in the next 10 years. These jobs cannot be outsourced. The 5 million people will buy things. Homes, cars, stuff to put in their homes, clothes, etc. They will pay income tax, they will pay into the Social Security system and help ease the burden on current taxpayers. They will pay property taxes to the state on their homes which will generate additional revenue and pull the states out of their considerable financial distress.
Barak Obama is the candidate who has expressed the most comprehensive plan regarding the energy changes we need to make in order to realize the goals I’ve discussed above. He agrees with the need for increased domestic capacity for oil, but will invest heavily in eliminating our country’s dependence on foreign oil bought from countries that could be considered hostile. McCain’s only solution is to drill offshore which in reality won’t yield a drop of oil for 10 years. We don’t have 10 years to change our dependence. It has to be attacked NOW.

This was an EXCELLENT rally with a wonderful large turnout of people! Sarah Palin was quite impressive today, the crowd loved her and John! We had an Obama protester throw a lit cigarette at us today in line! It hit the 6 year old girl behind us in the leg. They (the Obama protestors) were very aggressive and crude, even cursing, I wonder why the media isn’t showing this type of thing. Keep Virginia RED! Go McCain/Palin!

Palin abused her power just like Cheney did, nah and she’s not highly educated either…
not thanks and she has no real solutions either…more of the same yawn!

Of course republicans don’t want to look back over the last 8 years, the worst presidency in my lifetime and perhaps American history. Republicans sponsored the bill that lead to the repeal of the Glass Steagall act(s) - deregulating banks. The Bush administration stood by and watched the meltdown. Guess what Sarah, Wall street has been and always will be fueled by greed, such is the nature of our economic system. Regulation (which republicans oppose) is the check to balance that greed.

Not looking back as Palin suggests is the stupidest advice I can imagine. Looking back and understanding why it happened is the only way to understand how to avoid it in the future.

Americans have a right to be angry that our tax dollars are bailing out financial institutions, it is shame that Palin is trying to use this anger to stir racism. How Christian is that!

Comment by AmericanFirst

I am proud of my daughter, a FORMER Obama supporter, that after research has decided to support Sarah Palin and John McCain.

She is currently attending the PALIN rally in Newport News, VA.

I think Sarah will represent the women that truly love this country, and value your ideals over socialism and a corrupt government intervention into the lives of free Americans. Women should consider what good can be done in this election, whereas Biden and Obama would continue to weaken our nations economy. The current congress owns this issue - it was reversable as late as 2007 - BUT THEY TOOK SUMMER VACATION rather than address Fannie Mae and the fuel issues.

GO McCAIN and PALIN !

Comment by Ron Tuttle

Quite interesting that Ms. Palin complains about democrats looking into the past which is just what she and Mr. McCain have been doing the past week. Of course she isn’t too proud of the last 8 years her supposed party has been in power. Or maybe she doesn’t want people to look into her association with the AIP (Alaskan Independence Party). Put Palin and AIP into your Yahoo or Google browser and treat yourself to who the real Sarah Palin is. You will find that she is a true patriot who has been in favor of Alaska seceeding from the United States to form a separte nation by force if necessary. The Russians would love this. Ms. Palin represents a “clear and present danger” to the security and integrity of the United States. She is a real “Manchurian Candidate”. Read the comments of real AIP members and their support and comments on Sarah Palin. Beware America, the lipstick you see maybe very red indeed!

Americans seem keenly aware of national solvency rather than just party loyalty. While this is good for the country in the long term, this awareness may prove too much of a deficit for the Republican party’s wisdom to be heard–no matter who the cheerleader is.

The Republicans that are behind Sarah Palin as vice president must be either really stupid or just don’t care because they are Republicans. But I would think that they would rather hear the woman talk and answer questions about her ideas than listen to the rhetoric that is written for her to say at these rallies and apperances. Do they really think that these are her words, that she is actually the one talking to them. She is nothing more than a puppet and reciting a written speach from someone with in the campaign. The Republican base is being duped by Miss Sarah and I for one can not wait for this woman to go back to her igloo and not have to see or listen to her ever again.

Comment by Ann

Republicans seem to have a really hard time keeping up with who’s who. Please remember that the Annenberg Foundation, as well as the Annenberg Schools of Communication at USC and UPenn, were funded by Robert Annenberg, appointed ambassador under REPUBLICAN president Ronald Reagan, and whose widow supports John McCain. Factcheck.org, therefore, if it any leaning, would lean REPUBLICAN.

I guess because Barack Obama added more relief measures to his already existing economic recovery plan, that means he’s looking to the past? And what happened to McCain’s economic plan we were promised today?

I guess Republicans have been living under a “guilty till forgotten, much less proven innocent” president for so long they forget the difference between guilt and innocence. ACORN has themselves FLAGGED voter registrations they believe are fraudulent, they are not the ones making up the crazy registrations. Except in states that have early voting, NOBODY HAS VOTED YET, so there is not yet any fraudulent voting. Nothing ACORN has done remotely compares to the Republicans in upstate NY who sent out absentee ballots listing “Barack Osama.”

Be careful, if you believe everything Sarah Palin tells you, you’ll end up extinct like the polar bear!

Palin went to 4 different colleges, she didn’t go to no Harvard…she never met foreign leaders til recently, what a joke lol!
I bet if she were on the TV show “are you smarter than a 5th grader” she would lose!
Too right wing for our own good! Also abused her power on top of that, and somehow she is really power hungry and actually making McCain look like her lapdog…
Her voice is seriously annoying too!
She can’t understand what causes global warming, she is not very bright…she had to be schooled like cramming for a final exam!
McCain has an attitude problem, called one voter a jerk and he got angry at a reporter on his plane…temperament issue…

We are supposed to give OB the following:

1) a pass on his relationship with Ayers
2) a pass on his 20 year relationship with Wright (voer 1000 sermons)
3) a pass on anything to do with Acorn

We are supposed to accept:
1) banning of guns
2) higher taxes
3) wealth redistribution
4) more government
5) A one party system (Obama, Pelosi, Reed - a total democratic controlled government)
6) a socialist point of view.

Sorry–too many passes for me and to much socialism.

Okay, there is only one way to keep anything red these days…… Palin needs to stop campaigning and let Mccain do it in an honorable way. Palin should just go back to Alaska asap. If this does not happen, GOP is going lose and lose big. Obama is going for a landslide victory. He is positive and has a plan for the country and has not said one thing negative despite the bad stuff that has come out about Palin. Please, please Senator Mccain, do yourself some good and let Palin hide and not be seen or heard! I beg of you. I, like a lot of my friends are voting for Obama because we cannot stand the sight or hear the screech of Palin. We are more concerned about the economy and not what Obama did with Ayers. I will not judge Ayers or anyone for what they did 50 years ago. I was not born and i really do not care. But I do care about today and tomorrow. Help us by putting Palin away.

Sarah Palin as the leader of the United States? Representing our interests as a nation here at home and abroad?? Are you kidding me?? No matter what side you’re on in this one,McCain, Obama, and Biden all have a firm command on the issues and can speak intelligently on any of them at any moment. The same cannot be said about Palin. She gets all flustered and it becomes uncomfortably obvious when she tries to fake it out. She doesn’t understand the issues at all and has no idea what she’s getting herself into with this election. Is Sarah Palin really who you feel comfortable with being a heartbeat away from the highest office in the land?

Anomymous: Yes, Obama graduated from Harvard and was at the head of his class only to come out as dumb as an ass. You say he was smart? Are you smoking his pot? Obama didn’t use his brains when he met Ayers in 1995 and he wasn’t 8 years old at that time. He knew Ayers bombed this country and lied about it. Why lie. Everyone knows he was connected to him and both Ayers and Obama are also connected with Acorn. And you don’t have to graduate from Harvard to become a lawyer. There are thousands of lawyers that didn’t graduate from Harvard and opened up their own law firm. He had his sights on becoming the president because he wants control of this country and the people. Is he for the people? NO. He is for himself to make history. He gave a solid speech at John Kerry’s convention which I believe he took the words from JFK and added some of his own. Obama has to use copied speeches or he won’t know what to say on the platform. And his Clinton advisors use the speeches of Bill Clinton for Obama to make his speech.

Comment by Mariann Pepitone

Anomymous: I have a suggestion for you. Since you don’t like McCain why don’t you join the ranks of Ayers and Obama. You would fit right in with both anti-americans. If fact, why don’t you give them some suggestions on how to run a campaign because we all know that Obama is using other president’s speeches on the platform.

does not talk to the reporters and that they never know where they are going.

Harvard does not make the person. Sarah Palin did go to college she also has common
sense. She also happens to be attractive. Does this make her a bad person. If so
everyone should stop listening to the Hollywood crowd.

Obama met Ayers in 1995 and they have been friend’s ever since. He may lie to the public but he can’t lie to me. He lives in Hyde Park around the corner of Ayers and Farrakhan. If I am correct his house is up for sale and looking at it on TV I believe not to be over one million if that. He put it up for sale because he thinks he is going to Washington in three weeks.

Obama is not leading in Ohio. McCain is leading in that state and has been leading there. ABC, MSNBC and CNN have been pro-obama since the beginning of his campaign that’s why Chris Matthews got booted from prine time at MSNBC. The network stated he was too bias. Fox is not bias like the other networks. On Fox it showed that 76% believe the republicans would lower the taxes and 66% for democrats. Meaning the inflated polls could change to the correct percentage points.

i’d like to know what ‘personal attacks’ have been made on Obama.
His associations, his mentors, and past, are all fair game.
his books are fair game
his voting record is fair game
his platform is fair game.
that leaves:
race, sex, physical appearance.
Which of those three has the McCain campaign referred to?

Hey Virginia! The Marxist Poll in Ohio has voted for Obama. Tell you anything? doubt it. With Small businesses being taxed so heavily they will go out of business, jobs will be lost and large business the same fate. Enjoy your leisure time because with no jobs, and a Marxist President and really Big government and no guns or bullets, you’ll be just like Mexico. That’s why Obama wants you to learn a second language…get busy!

Patricia: For your information Acorn is being investigated for vote fraud in 15 battleground states. One voter registered 73 times and another over 15. Acorn is a democratic voting registration organization and they probably wouldn’t process republican’s applications. What the Federal Government should do is take all the registrations, pack them up and close Acorn up for good. People can go to their alderman’s office to register. I wouldn’t register at any place but the aldlerman’s or city hall. They are pro-obama and it was Ayers and Obama that were involved with this organization. It is stated on TV that Acorn’s worker’s advised the voter’s to vote several times. Those voter’s were democrat’s. STEALING THE ELECTION? HOW COZY! That’s the democrat’s for you. AFRAID McCAIN WOULD WIN INSTEAD OF OBAMA?

Obviously Obama going to Harvard did’nt help him much. He got out of school and earned 12,000 a year as a community organizer. Doesn’t sound too good to me. Then the Black Political Marchine went into motiion and pushed him along and got him elected through the Socialist Party in Chicago to state senator. The once again a big push to U.S. senator by way of the Chicago machine. Then rather than actually work the job, he spent 90% of his past 2 1/2 years campaigning. That’s what we need senators that take the check but don’t do any work. At Harvard we don’t know what classes he took only what he says in his book “I sought out the most Marxist liberal professors while in school.” great. So he got the Annenberg money from Ayers, he trusted Obama a good friend enough to distribute this money, Obama gave it to Radical Groups. Obama has a baby it’s called ACORN. AS HE SAID THREE DAYS AGO “THE ACORN DOESN’T FALL FAR FROM THE T
