I attended the Palin Richmond racetrack rally today, and I would like to note that among a crowd of over 10,000 there was none of the “mob mentality” which continues to be reported by the media. I have never seen a more orderly, respectful crowd. Enthusiasm was high, but in no way unruly, violent or hate-filled. Quite the opposite, as is true of the typical McCain/Palin supporters. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the Obama camp nor many of its supporters.

She is scary, it’s hard to believe that she is a candidate for the second highest office in this great land of ours.

I was at the rally, not too close to those that were chanting, “Louder!” But I heard some commotion and then heard others chant Sarah’s name. So I assumed the first group were protesters, too. Honest mistake. Too bad the sound wasn’t better for them.

I thought the rally was great. It energized me (I’m from Richmond, but am living in Madison, WI while my husband finishes school) to really speak up for what I believe in and who I will vote for.

If nothing has happened yet, one of your children will come home pregnant, get a DUI, or steal something. Also, for Tess, I think it is legitimite to be concerned that Palin’s son-in-law is dropping out of high school. It is not an ‘elitist’ position to question this choice. Most drop-outs do not have any real prospects and the family is sending a very wrong message to American youth. When our youth are already being bombarded with so many dangerous message, we look to those with supposed family values.

Dropping out of high school? how is this a good choice? I understand that for some, dropping out is unavoidable, but if one has the connections and means to finish high school–and as a result, secures a more viable future for his family–why would he not choose that?

Oh well. He is just a boy and should not be scrutinized by the public eye; I imagine this ordeal has been intimidating for him. Grandmother Palin should know better.

I do worry though, about Palin’s educational values (inquiring about banning books, etc) and this does not help. I know this wasn’t the topic of the blog but when another post mentioned this fact, I had to respond.
