Pittsburgh Paper Picks Obama, Pans on McCain/Palin Ticket
CHICAGO - It’s just about the peak of endorsement season, when newspaper editorial boards across the country chose their candidate for president. Today, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette picked Barack Obama, saying “the forces of history appear to invite boldness.”
Much of the endorsement reads like a scathing rebuke of John McCain and his candidacy, calling him “essentially a good man, but yesterday’s man” who is wrong on Iraq, wrong on health care, and wrong on the economy.
Oh, and then there’s Sarah Palin - McCain’s “reckless” choice for a running mate. Editors dismiss her as “a diva in the drill, baby, drill chorus of fossil-fuel adulation” and one “whose lack of knowledge to take over as president has becoming increasingly obvious and embarrassing.”
“If Mr. McCain had chosen one of the many accomplished women in the Republican Party, his candidacy would have the stamp of seriousness. Instead, it bears the superficial imprint of pandering populism,” they admonish.
Editors also expressed disdain for the duos recent attacks - a “blizzard of slime” - against Obama’s character, concluding, “Yes, they apparently do think the American people are that stupid.”
But it’s not just an anti-McCain decision. Here’s why:
It is about the strengths of Barack Obama, whose rise to prominence is not a fluke or national infatuation but the consequence of his remarkable skills — a keen intellect, noble intentions and the wit and grace to express them in ways that have inspired millions across the country. He has a rare gift exactly suited to the fearful times — he knows the language of reassurance and hope.
If his were just empty words, this would be just another cheap political gift. But what he says is carefully considered. In the debates and on the hustings, Mr. Obama has been the voice of moderation, combining common sense and compassion on issue after issue. When the subject turns to foreign policy, supposedly Mr. McCain’s strong suit, Mr. Obama gives no indication that he will have to learn on the job.
The Post-Gazette opted for John Kerry in 2004.

Hey Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ,
Here is a thought. do you job and ask the great Obama about his lies on connections and his lies to organization such as ACORN.
Oh yes Obama is the messiah. He will use even God and the good book to get what he wants. He mocks the Bible and then in the 2008 primaries against Hillary hands flyers out in KY which he appears to be at a pulpit in a church. the flyer goes on to state he could be sitting in a pew but he is out doing “God’s” work. This video shows what he thinks of the Bible.

Obama on ACORN I never worked with them. Lie
Attempts to hide evidence of Obama’s involvement with ACORN have included wiping the web clean of potentially damaging articles that had appeared, and were previously publicly accessible. Unfortunately, those behind the attempted cover-up failed to realize that in today’s day and age, nothing disappears forever. There also exists another layer of the web, the hidden web, which is full of information included in proprietary scholarly databases where these very same “missing” articles can be easily uncovered.

Obama on Ayers. I didn’t really know him. he was just a guy in the neighborhood. Lie
Even CNN said he was not “completely” honest.

These are just the ones the news will investigate.
My question is what has Obama told us we should trust?
The Post-Gazette is undergoing 2 rounds of layoffs-early retirements. Their errant views on politics is the MAJOR reason. People in the ‘burgh are sick of it. This paper may be gone completely in one year because retailers are about to have a terrible 4th quarter.
Thanks for the endorsement for Obama. I find it very sad during his very hard times with the economic mess and the Iraq war continuing that the Republicans are running a campaign of hatred. Hard times should bring us together but this campaign only wants more separation and division. It’s very sad.
They also endorsed Kerry and thought him a great person.
enough said.
We have cookies on the good side to too…
Well-written.
The Post Gazette seems to never lose it’s touch for picking losers. They score again.

Thank God the media are finally growing a pair and calling a spade a spade.
We all knew that the choice of Palin was cheap populism. Even stronger, it’s hard to argue with the strencth of this obvious but true assertion:
Editors also expressed disdain for the duos recent attacks - a “blizzard of slime” - against Obama’s character, concluding, “Yes, they apparently do think the American people are that stupid.”
Most of us are not that stupid.
The editors of any newspaper, which is worht more than the paper it is printed on,
will be out of their sweet minds to find reason(s) to endorse the McCain-Palin clown ticket.
FOX News should be called the HATE-and-DIVISIVE Network. Extreme right wing idelogoues who would isolate the US and push us all back to the stone-age. God save our country from such bigots and racists.
Any editor of any newspaper, which is worth more than the paper it is printed on, will be out of their sweet minds to come up with reason(s) to endorse the McCain-Palin comical ticket…..
Now conservative media that were gushing over Palin 3 weeks ago are putting nails in McCain’s coffin to recapture any credibility and reputation they may have, now that the campaign broke clearly for OBAMA and the McCain campaign is disintegrating.
It’s nice to see the non-biased media start to come out for Obama. Of course we’ll never see that from the right-wing house newsletter that is Fox News. But who cares…only dopey Republicans can stand the likes of the Carl Camerons of the world. Don’t worry Fox…the real media will endores the only real choice. America won’t be fooled again.
In my opinion, it was the choice of Sarah Palin that doomed McCain. As a registered Democrat, I considered him worthy of my vote until he picked her. This might have tied up the conservative Christian vote, and the oil vote, and the moose hunting vote, but it repelled the rest of us. I’m sorry for him. He’s a good man. But he’s lost his mojo.
The papers and the people are simply stating the truth. John McCain is another 4 years of George Bush. Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney with lipstick. She is a mean spirited red neck who charges women for their own rape kits and violates the ethics of her office.
I am a Republican woman who for the first time in my 70 years on this earth am ashamed of being a Republican. I am voting for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Let’s hope they win so the country can go back to an age of prosperity and security with Barack Obama.
and Fox news endorses whatever empty suit their republican masters tell them to. I’m shocked! shocked, I say!
Yes. Unlike the sly and cunning Fox people, there are thankfully a lot of people who are capable of making the right decisions.
I’d say the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette hit the nail on the head.
They picked it right. It’s a shame John McCain brought himself down, but he did. He could and should have done a lot better - especially with his running mate. Palin cannot lead this nation. Period.
Why on earth is this paper so unreservedly liberal? Whatever happened to covering the news in a fair and balanced manner?
BRAVO! I think the language in the endorsement for Senator is finely crafted, and thoughtful.
SEC
What a thoughtful and analytical editorial. It really ,makes good sense and I am in complete agreement with it. In
Forida we can vote by mail and I have already cast my vote for Obama. Palin is a disgrace to the party of which I have always been a member - but no longer. What was John thinking??m
What has George been thinking? Beats the heck out of me.
If nothing else I’ll be very happy if we can treat this election as a referendum on negative campaigning, and put to bed finally the divisive tactics of Atwater and Rove.
We can’t continue these kinds of campaigns and at the same time try to promote unity to solve the big problems facing the nation.
Go Obama/Biden!
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what is coming. I predict a landslide of endorsements for Obama as McCain/Palin ticket is exposed for its remarkable failure to address the real needs of the country and instead focusing on attacking character. Americans are smarter than this. Times are changing. We do need bold leadership. I am a 60 year old male, small business owner, a former Republican in Colorado. I will be delighted to support the Democratic ticket this time around.
This is not a race, color or culture issue. Get real here. Your talking about an individual who associates with a domestic bomber, mentored by shady criminal types, promotes an organization that intimidates banks and commits voter fraud and is the member of a party who is directly responsible for the financial crisis today. Obama won’t even make public his birth certificate. Are you people that naive? Are you buying that smooth talker number?
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is spot on. However, entrenched Republican likely will not read the article. Hopefully, undecided voters will take the time to think this these points through and vote accordingly.
My congratulations. You have hit the nail on the head.
Thank you FOX for reporting something postive about Obama FOR ONCE!!!I commend you on your efforts to become fair and balanced! Keep it up!
Typically the VP slot is not what makes or breaks the vote. But this is a judgment call. While Obama is being attacked for his judgment on having ties with Ayers, Senator McCain is on record on having called his involvement with the Keating 5 as a judgment blunder. Now he picked Gov. Palin, who may or may not read newspapers, has no clue on Supreme Court decisions other than Rowe vs. Wade (she did not even remember the Exxon Valdez catastrophe which hit her own state) and was not able to handle simple interviews with her own selection like Katie Couric. With this country passing through a financial tsunami, we need stable hands, pragmatists who could also keep the chin of this country up. We do not need mavericks, who fire from their hips and then live to face the consequences as has been boldly proclaimed by Senator McCain. We do not need drill baby drill. We need change baby change- change from reliance of fossil fuels, change from the Bush doctrine of striking first and asking questions later, change the rotting infrastructure, Change for the better for our healhcare, social security, financial/banking reform, tighter oversight of Wall Street and a relationship of trust and mutual respect with our allies and others and a non nonsense resilience and grit against violence and terrorism. We must not be racist in our decisions.
I agreed with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. I think it was a disasterous mistake for McCain to pick Sarah Palin who’s way under-qualified and out of her league to be his running mate. There are so many qualified women in the Republican Party that he could have picked. It’s insulting to women in the Party. Instead, he is pandering to the far-right Republicans and in the process, he’s alienated moderate and indepedent voters. The campaign further incited violence among supporters which in turn turning off moderate voters even more. There is no reason why he should pander to the Republican base since most, if not all, will vote for him anyway. The people to whom he should appeal are moderate independents who hold the key to winning this election.
“Today’s man” Barack Obama is a machine politician with his fingers in virtually every dirty pie out there. The man has been employed by, or associated with, the extremist group ACORN for the majority of his adult life, from the time he was a Community Organizer, when he was president of Project Vote that has now been implicated in voter fraud in 23 states in the past four years - in at least two of these states ACORN’s voter fraud swung the results to Democratic candidates, when he conducted seminars for ACORN managers on how to allow voter fraud to continue without the organization being charged with it, and when he defended ACORN and Project Vote members in voter fraud cases. He encouraged the Democratic National committee to hire ACORN for $800,000 to conduct its voter registrations in the Battleground states, while knowing full well that ACORN had been implicated in voter fraud and probably would continue to commit voter fraud in the future. He and Bill Ayres diverted $100 million from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, intended to improve the academic performance of the Chicago schools, to ACORN which then forced the Chicago schools to teach Bill Ayres’ curriculum of extremism and anti-Americanism in order to obtain the funds. He and Barney Franks helped to require Fannie Mae to send money to ACORN from each real estate loan FNME booked, which has amounted to tens of millions of dollars to ACORN over the past three years.
If ACORN is successful in stealing this election for Barack Obama by the use of voter fraud in the Battleground states, free elections in this country will be only a distant memory for us for at least the remainders of our lifetimes.
The fact that Obama is so closely associated with ACORN is frightening and by itself should disqualify him as a candidate that a responsible news paper would endorse.
They nailed it. McCain’s campaign will go down in history as the most disjointed, gimmicky, incendiary in the last fifty years. What a cruel joke this dinosaur has foisted on the Republican party.
I am a Clinton support who had seriously considered voting for John McCain. Unfortunately the more I have educated myself regarding Sarah Palin the more I have come to realize I can not support this ticket. Strangly I could vote for a McCain Biden ticket happily. As it stands I will vote for Obama. He seems to be an intelligent man with a willingness to surround himself with competent people - coupled with a ability to take their advice. I am truly hoping this buffer his lack of experience. Irregardless this country can not risk the possibility of a Palin presidency!
Along to the road to Obama’s “rise to prominence” is strewn the litter of Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, and countless others we have not yet heard about. because the media chooses to downplay anything bad in this man’s short history. Too much is unknown about Obama, the least experienced person on either ticket and the most unqualified to be nominated by any major party in history. He is a reckless choice by the Gazette, and would be a reckless choice in November.
They couldn’t have said it better.

Why would America REWARD complete Republican failure ?
We wont.
I am heartend that editors like yours are not jsut partisan players but think of ASmerica and its future. McCain an d Palin are a disgrase to America. Obama has a balance approach we need now.
It is no surprise that the McCain/Palin ticket continues to fall in the polls. When they decided to play the slime game, they ended up with slime all over themselves due to their total lack of credibility.
With the Republicans continuing to worship the mantra of former President Ronald Regan, “Cut taxes and put the bill on your children’s credit card”, it is no wonder that they are losing traction from the public. The Herbert Hoover/Ronald Reagan Supply Side Trickle Down Economic Strategy has created an economic disaster even worse than predicted by many leading economists.
Many of us remember this economic play from the recession of the early 1980s and we already know the last act {running the economy into the gutter}. If the Republicans are serious about being contenders for leadership in this country, they need to take their collective heads out of the sand. There is no free lunch and they are not fooling anyone.
As an Independent, the current Republican ticket will definitely not get my vote. The Obama/Biden ticket by comparison is actually putting forward plans that have a good prospect of pulling the economy back out of the gutter, by employing similar Demand Side Economic Strategies to those of former President Franklin Roosevelt of the past.
Wow - Awesome response! Perfectly put into words what the rest of us are thinking. Thank you!
Well Said!!
hey
Thank you for your honest and to-the-point summary of the candidate’s campaigns and choices.
Thankfully, finally, the right wing media has allowed some truth to be spoken. Government by fear, encouraging violence, and keeping dialog at a “lowest common denominator,” is frightening. Just because many Americans are unread, unreflective, and ignoble, does not mean that our leaders should be. One could simply pick someone at random from the phone book, and such person could scarcely be less qualified than Sarah Palin.
Will Palin rise to be the darling of the Republican Party?
I guess I should have ran for President at least I understand history! I f Mr Obama continues with his spending like FDR we will be in a recession for a very long time. If Obama is elected maybe just maybe he will listen to his V.P. I hate the thought that the race card is continually played in these elections. This is why it extremely difficult to run a white against a black the issues are lost!! I wish that we would have had two blacks running then it would have been an interesting election. The issue is do we need to elect a man that is experienced? That is an astounding yes.. as these are more difficult times ! Get over the skin color and elect a man that is truly experienced when Mr Obama gets more experience he will make an excellent president!
I like the zing of the one-liner at the end of the article. Very. . . . scholarly . . . . ;o)
However, the paper’s comments reflect the thinking of a lot of Americans right now. McCain has a lot to do if he’s going to change those perceptions.
Mc Same
Pittsburgh — and Pennsylvania — you rock! This editorial is one of the clearest, most straight-forward I’ve read. And thank you for endorsing Obama/Biden, because I truly believe they are the best hope for a strong future for America. I absolutely agree that had John McCain chosen a VP who was truly qualified to be one heartbeat away from the presidency, I would not have felt so frightened of his ticket. And, even after his choice, had Palin shown ANY indication of wanting to learn more, perhaps it wouldn’t be so frightening. But, neither is the case — and now there is proof that Palin has knowingly abused her power as governor of Alaska. The McCain ticket is simply not in the best interest of our country at this time in history.
1. OBAMA AND BIDEN SAID, SAY IT TO MY FACE!! Well, why are you crying. You thought you were saying it to McCaign but no, you are saying to the AMERICAN PEOPLE. YOU WENT AFTER PALIN AND YOU TOOK THE GLOVES OFF, WELL, OUR GLOVES ARE OFF, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH TO OBAMA’S AVOIDENCE TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS!
2. Your playing the Race Card, well, I’ll have you know that this will not distract the American People from wanting answers. RED, YELLOW, BLACK AND WHITE, we are of all colors and we are not a ignorant people–we work, we need help, we help, we give, we share, we speak, we support, we love, and yes when we are pushed WE DEMAND TRUTH AND JUSTICE. You need to respond to our concerns–we are not intimidated! Race is not an issue here, lack of truth is.
3. Obama’s associations and his wife being an attorney for some of this. We need to hear why you Obama, established relationships with these people with radical views and why was your wife an attorney for one of them. What was your rationale about this, your involvement with these type of people go outside of the United States!
4. We the American People want the truth about your tax policy, healthcare fines, imigration (who are taking a lot of our money, using other people’s social security and getting money from welfare etc.), Abortion, and more, but specifically, how did you contribute to prevent this economy problem? Did you do anything in your career to address it? YOU say that we need change and yet you were part of the system, what did you do? So, you contributed to it and were part of making this mess that we must clean.
5. This to me is like a situation when a man or women is so in “Love” that they are blinded to the OBVIOUS truth of the one they “Love”. Women are lied to by men they “Love”, Men are deceived by women they “Love”. Sometimes a person in a situation like this “Loves” the other person so much that they refuse to be warned and advised until it’s too late or they have to witness for themselves that other person being caught in a lie or deception is revealed by a person or a situation. People in “Love” with Obama refused to act like the Amercian People and seek the truth not only from Obama but McCain–the American People want the TRUTH from both sides–it’s just that at this time OBAMA is the resistant one.
6. We are at the point that we do not want Obama’s camp or biased media to respond to this, we want OBAMA TO ANSWER THE QUESTONS AND CONCERNS HIMSELF!! YOU WILL NOT GET THIS HONORED POSITION WITHOUT IT!! YOU WILL NOT GET THE VOTES!! WE NEED YOU TO RESPOND AT THIS POINT–NO CONDITIONS!!
7. If WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE do not protect ourselves who will? PEOPLE SPEAKING THEIR MIND IS A GOOD THING, WE DO NOT HAVE TO ALL DRESS THE SAME, LOOK THE SAME, DO THE SAME THINGS, DRIVE THE SAME CARS, BUY THE SAME HOUSES, GO TO THE SAME PLACES, SAY IN THE SAME PLACE AND/OR THINK THE SAME THING! We do however, all expect a TRUE RESPONSE TO OUR QUESTIONS AND OBAMA YOU MUST ANSWER!!
8. BIASED MEDIA, YOU DO NOT CONTROL THIS ELECTION! YOU ARE WHERE YOU ARE BECAUSE WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND OUR LAWS PUT YOU THERE AND IF YOUR BIAS IS YOUR WAY OF KEEPING US INFORM YOUR WRONG, YOU WILL BEGIN TO FEEL THE HEAT OF OUR DISSAPOINTMENT AS OF THIS DAY (SPECIFICALLY CNN AND MSNBC). YOU DO US AN ENJUSTICE REPORTING THE FACTS IN A BIASED WAY!
9. OBAMA AND BIDEN, WE ARE SAYING IT TO YOUR FACE AS YOU REQUESTED FROM MCCAIN BUT WE CAN REPRESENT OURSELVES WHEN OUR REPRESENTITIVES DO NOT WANT TO DO THE DIRTY WORK–CONTRONTING AVOIDANCE AND DECEPTION. THIS IS TO YOUR FACE DUDE!! YOU WANT TO CALL OUT A FIGHT, HERE IT IS!!
Obama has PA locked up - on to Ohio!
Well, Editor, will Obama take his 300 advisors with him? If he didn’t it’ll be on-the-job training big time. He’s adopted so many ideas originally McCain’s it’s not even funny.
I used to be a proud Pennsylvanian. After The Rooney’s backing of Biden, I have taken my lifelong Steelers’ adoration elsewhere. It broke my heart when I heard Dan Rooney say good things about the Biden idiot. Anyway, I will not admit to being a Steelers’ fan or a Pennsylvanian anymore. I have never purchased this paper and I will not weep when it goes under with Barach Bin Laden.
Usama Bin Obama is a crook and a fake!!
well said.
This is the most cogently written endorsement I have seen. Makes me want to move to Pittsburgh.
McCain and the Baked Alaskan have run about as awful a campaign as this country has ever seen. Laughably absurd accusations and snarling mobs reminiscent of those of attracted by George Wallace in 1968 have turned America’s stomach.
A very well stated decision. But no surprising it has endorsed Obama; the “Pittsburg Post-Gazette chose Kerry in 2004.
Barack Obama will be a memorable president and is the right man for this job. The booing and catcalls recently present at McCain/Palin rallies are the frustrated last gasps of a national nightmare we will attempt to forget, but should always keep in mind when we may think it doesn’t matter who is in the White House.
To borrow a word phrase from Jay Leno “Exactly!”
Good for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Insane McCain and his totally incompetent and dangerous
running mate, Crank Palin, are dangerous, desperate and wrongheaded. This country may not deserve
better than them but we surely NEED something better. Obama and Biden are clearly the
far better choice in this election.
I am a proud U.S. Army veteran who served in Somalia. I was a big McCain backer in 2000. I new that Bush was a bad choice. Eight years later, I wonder what happened to my maverick. I still wonder what the hell he was thinking when he selected Palin as his running mate. Well, that’s water under the bridge. After a lot of thought, I’m putting my country first and voting for Obama/Biden. My gut tells me that they will be the better ticket - by a long shot. I think McCain’s best opportunity passed him by in 2000. He’s now a shadow of what he once was. I don’t think that Obama will wave a magic wand and make everything better but it’s the best we’ve got. I’ve got a wife and a kid and a pile of bills. It’s time to move forward. God bless the USA.
A typical leftist over reaction to a empty suit politician..Come on..They would have found anything in their limited minds to endorse Obama..Like they do year in and out..Day in and out..Journalism and editorials have been dead for decades..Please remind these mental midgets in their newspapers..lmao
I applaud the Pittsburgh Gazette. Thanks for calling a spade a spade!
McCain’s selection of Palin is an insult to people of America.
This country certainly deserves more than political tactics from McCain,;
so called cancellation of his campaign, and trying to pander to Hilliary voters
with an unvetted VP selection that is an embarrassment.
Past time for a change!
I Like McCain, but I can not vote for him. McCain believed and supported in the Bush war policies that have mainly benefited Iran and Osama Bin Laden.
This is as it should be.
Perfect, simple explanation.
With Obama comes another economy much like that of Jimmy Carter’s. Even though this current cirsis happens on Bush’s watch, review into history strongly indicates that democrats, by large, have been a contributing factor to the current situation.
As for, former President Clinton, why should anyone that lies under oath to a Grand Jury. As with Clinton, Obama is nothing more than a good speaker.
mccain campaign is in shambles, thats is why he is loosing and he is going to lose big to the point whrere he wont have any credibility anymore and sarah palin would not be employes anywhere apart from flip burgers.
Its a shame and fox news are helping them but you guys will realise the morning of nov.5
I am more then a little concerned with Mr. Obama’s friends, advisors and politics. There are many issues he will not address. Considering this guy wants to be president, We, the People have a right to know who and what he is. We deserve to know. 1. Occidental College records — Not released 2. It looks like the Gazette nicely summarized why McCain and poodle are no choice at all. Poodle may finally be realizing it as well. She actually talked to reporters in AK to say she is not guilty in troopergate. Until now, she has written off Alaskans in hopes of the Presidency and had not communicated with Alaskans. I think it is finally sinking through the haze that she wont be President. McCain has been all over the place on the economy — pulling stunts like “calling off campaign” and dropping a rediculous $300 billion plan at the last debate.
“The Post-Gazette opted for John Kerry in 2004.”
Yeah, and too bad we didn’t listen. Look where 4 more years of Bush got us.
Europeans are glad that there are still straight thinking Americans who do not fall for the McCain campaign’s mud slinging and stupid tactics of chosing as VP someone who is completely out of her league and who could become the next leader of the Free World. McCain with his VP choice is seen as playing with fire and not taking the future of us and our children seriously.
Palin and McCain would do anything to win and certainly do not put their country first.
Time to stop wasting your time and money in PA, John.
It would truly be a terrible moment in our nation’s history if McCain and Palin were to be elected on their platform of hate and lies. There was a time I had some respect for McCain. But he has completely lost my respect. In fact I must have been mistaken all along to think that he had any honor. If he becomes president I will still have no respect for him. But even worse if he becomes president it will show the world that the days of an inspiring America are over. If he becomes president the world will see that America is ruled by hate, fear and bigotry and that every other country had better be afraid because a hate filled, angry old man and his ill-informed religious fundamentalist vp will be in charge and they are erratic and filled with negativity. In fact negativity is their platform.
While Senator McCain has never requested a single earmark, Senator Obama has requested nearly a billion dollars worth during his short time in office. Though Senator Biden has been in the Senate for 36 years, he has only disclosed his earmarks for one year.
Senator Obama increased his earmark requests during each of his first three years in office. Governor Palin has cut requests for earmarks for Alaska by $150 million since entering office, and she has cut those requests every single year. She has also vetoed a half billion dollars in wasteful spending at the state level.
One might ask, what makes Obama think he can get away with this nonsense, when the facts are the precise opposite of his claims? But you know the answer to that question.
pick a trader, lier, cheat, and fake…………. thats the american way… lets not care about his integrety…..
In the ad, Obama also claims that “I…extended health care for wounded troops who had been neglected.” Wow, that’s quite an accomplishment for a single Senator. The ad cites Public Law 110-181, the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act. Funny thing, though: Obama didn’t show up to vote on that bill in the Senate.
I agree-Palin has interfered with Mc Cains campaign-she is of no value to him other than her willingness to be an attack dog- she has brought no substance or intelligence with her to show she should be his running mate- bad for Mc Cain.
This article explains what many have known….it’s not just “change”, it’s the change for the better, a higher aspiration, a motivating message, a plan of enough substance that it encourages action at the ground level, giving the individual the clear idea of the difference that he/she can help make a difference for themselves and others. Obama represents our interconnectedness, as well as our basic humanity…we are all the same and at the deepest level want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
This is so true, Palin is a complete idiot.
ess than two months after ascending to the U.S. Senate, Barack Obama bought more than $50,000 worth of stock in two speculative companies whose major investors included some of his biggest political donors.
One of the companies was a biotech concern that was starting to develop a drug to treat avian flu. In March 2005, two weeks after buying about $5,000 of its shares, Obama took the lead in a legislative push for more federal spending to battle the disease.
He also bought more than $50,000 in stock in a satellite communications business whose principal backers include four friends and donors who had raised more than $150,000 for his political committees.
A spokesman for Obama says the senator did not know that he had invested in either company.
In the first 18 months of his first Senate term Obama was also writing his second book, “The Audacity of Hope.” Immediately after finishing that, he built up support for his upcoming Presidential campaign by campaigning for other Democrats in 2006, took part in a book tour, made a few appearances on entertainment shows, and began his campaign for the presidency. Not much time for doing what he was elected to the Senate to do — represent the people of Illinois.
Ha Ha Ha… The same paper who backed John Kerry - talk about out of touch! Listen up - Conservatives ARE angry on the right side of the aisle not because they are dying to have McCain as President, they just know they don’t want Obama. To have a great positive campaign, you must have people really get behind a candidate. To some extent, the Liberal base and some younger voters have done this for Obama (not to mention the mainstream Liberal media, the Hollywood elite, and other out of touch people). McCain is in fact a little short on truly solid support due to his non-partisan legacy. Some might think it’s wrong for people to be anti-Obama, rather than Pro-McCain, but it’s simply how conservatives feel, right or wrong. Some claim that these feelings are race based, but that is judging people based on assumption, rather than fact. I can only speak for me. I a
