Palin off message on North Korea?

Is the team of mavericks split on what to do next regarding North Korea?

While Sen. McCain was extremely critical of the Bush decision to take North Korea off of the list of state sponsors of terror in a statement issued Saturday, his running mate said she had confidence in the administration.

From the McCain statement:

“Reports indicate that the administration may soon remove North Korea from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. I have previously said that I would not support the easing of sanctions North Korea unless the United States is able to fully verify the nuclear declaration Pyongyang submitted on June 26. It is not clear that the latest verification arrangement will enable us to do so,” McCain said in a written statement. “As this process moves forward, I expect the administration to explain exactly how this new verification agreement advances American interests and those of our allies before I will be able to support any decision to remove North Korea from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.”

But when Gov. Palin was asked about the decision during a campaign stop in Altoona, PA today, she was more optimistic about the Bush move and said she had “faith” it was the correct decision.

“Having worked on this strategy for quite some time, I have faith…that they’re making this wise decision. And North Korea, of course, better live up to its end of the bargain there, in speaking with the other countries whom they’ve been working with, in promising the verification. That end of the bargain has got to be lived up to,” she told reporters, putting the onus on Pyongyang rather than Washington.

When did she learn about North Korea? I thought learning about foreign policy was next week.
Stick to the Smears, Sarah. Ask Todd to help you if you forget what to say.

Comment by Brian Pearson

Sarah plays the role of a bold archaic almost as well as Bush.

Comment by Lew

So, what happens if Vice President Palin has a different policy than President McCain and he’s on Air Force unable to land, just like on Sept 11, 2001 when VP Chaney had to take over?

Comment by Bruno From Atlanta

It would be better for her to say i have no idea…..She is not ready for primetime and its very sad for my party to pick someone like Sarah Palin for VP…
Mitt Romney for 2012..i can’t wait

Comment by Palin4Prez

Palin is so maverick-y, she’s maverick-ing away from McCain! She’s so exciting to watch and just doggone cute!

Comment by teacher for Obama

Palin is pitiful!! Where did McCain find her? She cant even name a magazine that she has read? Clearly the Mccain camp needs to give her some more talking points. I have students that have more knowledge than her on topics that she should be able to discuss. Goes to show that your average Joe six pack IS NOT qualified to be VP better yet how did she become the Gov of Alaska? Well I guess if Alaska is full of Joe six packs that explains it!!!

Comment by Sebrina Alfonso

She probably was not aware of this. She has had so many things to learn and memorize that you cannot actually think she is keeping up with current news?
Had she been in Alaska she probably would have said she doesnt keep up with North Korea, just like the war in Iraq.

Comment by educated Ron

Its obvious they don’t really talk in regards to current events.

She didn’t figure out they were leaving michigan until the next day.

The reality is they give this woman no respect. don’t allow her to talk free and keep he in the dark.

Very sexist. This comment I consider non-partisan.

They should talk to each other about every single topic and she should be advised on all campaign strategies before they do it to get her opinion even if they don’t respect her.

It is not Sarah Palin disagreeing with John McCain, it is her handlers, the people who pull her strings. The same people in the Republican Party who hate John McCain.
How would she know anything about Korea, sure you cant see it from Alaska!

Comment by Alley

These two people are running two different campaigns on the same ticket. No wonder people are jumping over to Obama. I even heard her refer to the Republican ticket as Palin and McCain. Some one needs to tell her it’s the other way around. This woman in ethically unqualified to be a part of this ticket. Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney with lipstick!

Among the things obvious, in this gap between Mr McCain and his VP pick, is the fact that both appear to be running on separate strategy and messages. If this appearance in a matter of fact: then it suggest a gross lack of coordination and effective management of the GOP’s campaign.

This lack of sound management further reveals that leadership, effective decision-making processes and defined and determined objectives are also lacking. This reality reflects poorly on the offices these two people are seeking: President and Vice-President.

Mr McCain has an admirable story and I have true respect for the person he is; however, the events of this campaign and his reaction to some of these events have cost him my political support. What was his rationale for picking Mrs Palin; please do not say that it was to get Mrs Clinton disaffected supporters - women supporters. What value does she add to the ticket? In what ways are she prepared to substantially fulfill her responsibility as second in command?

Mr McCains choice of VP casts unequivocal doubt about his rhetoric of “putting country first” and clearly supports this position:”personal political ambition before country.”

Comment by SpaythePitBull

What?? She is a rambling mess, can anyone understand her disjointed grammar and sentence structure? My fifth graders vocabulary is better than Palins. One would think she learned a little about putting together a proper sentence in journalism school. Palin you are an embarrassment to America, go back to Wasilla and take care of your kids, instead of parading them into a hockey game for personal protection. I’ll be glad when this election is over.

Comment by Chris

I would like so much to be a Republican but every cycle it seems there is something that turns me away. This time it’s Palin. Come one reds, stop the madness and pick candidates to really do represent the majority of us. Remember the bell curve?

She dont live next to North Korea, no wonder her statement contradict McCain’s. They are two people who think they have something in common but in real life they have nothing. She agrees more with Bush than McCain. She differ with McCain in abortion, environment, North korea, and other stuff we might have to wait.
MCain was a great senator before he crack to Bush and other Social conservative Republicans.

Comment by ldh

Palin is right on.

For all the liberals on here bashing Palin, it is not as though Obama & Biden are lock step in sync.

Biden doesn’t even agree that Obama is ready to become POTUS. Although about 50% of the country does agree with Biden on this point.

Comment by Arzell

Way to go Sarah! Keep on digging yourself and McCain into that deep, deep hole!

Well you know how the mavericks do, they for it one day then the next their against it. Aside McCain is having a nervous breakdown because he now realizes how he’s blowing his campaigne because of a dumb dumb. What a minute. John Mccain deserves some of the blame here. He picked her for political gain and its backfiring on him. You folks are being to hard on her. She is a human being after all. Yes, maybe she should have turned the VP offer down, but Senator Mccain used poor judgment and gambled with our country’s well being by picking a smart, independent, but UNQUALIFIED PERSON to be one heart beat away from the presidency.

Comment by robin

i guess that the obambies think that if they post here those of us that believe in her and want to see her succeed will think that our own party is turning on mccain/palin. no matter how much you all want to see that happen, it isn’t going to.

MCCAIN: “unless the United States is able to fully verify the nuclear declaration Pyongyang submitted on June 26.”

PALIN: “And North Korea, of course, better live up to its end of the bargain there,… That end of the bargain has got to be lived up to”

THESE STATEMENTS DO NOT CONTRADICT ONE ANOTHER FOLKS.

THIS ARTICLE IS MISLEADING.

ONCE AGAIN; FOX SHOULD REPORT AND LET US DECIDE

THIS IS YOUR MOTTO.

Comment by Kenneth of Minneapolis

Sarah Palin is so smart, and Pretty, with pretty glasses, and that folksy talk. Who cares about North Korea! Who cares if this is the 3rd or 4th time she has disagreed with McCain. Who cares if they don’t talk strategy. Who cares if she don’t talk about the economy. When Sarah says “Drill baby Drill” I get a strange sensation running down my leg.

Sarah, keep putting on that pretty makeup, and don’t forget to wink at ME.

You go Girl!

Comment by guyfromMO

is it too late for McCain to pick a new running mate…

Comment by Roger

I think Sarah got it right, just like she got it right in the debate when asked the responsibilities of the Vice-President. Joe Biden didn’t even know which article of the Constitution referred to the duties of the Vice president, and in attempting to answer the question he obviously had no clue. Check it out. Sarah got it right!

Comment by Carol

It is apparent that most of these people making comments are extremely jealous. Palin is as smart or smarter as Obama and has a lot more experience than he has when it comes to running a country. At least she can run a state and have an 80% approval rating. All Obama has is the support of the “Chicago Political Machine” an every corrupt liberal in Washington. If he is elected just wait and see what a mess he will make of this country. You all will be wishing George Bush was back!!!

MCCAIN: “… unless the United States is able to fully verify the nuclear declaration Pyongyang submitted on June 26.”

PALIN: “And North Korea, of course, better live up to its end of the bargain there, … That end of the bargain has got to be lived up to, …”

THERE IS NO CONTRADICTION IN THEIR STATEMENTS AS IMPLIED: “… putting the onus on Pyongyang rather than Washington.”

ONLY A MISLEADING HEADLINE AND BIASED REPORTING, ONCE AGAIN.

YOU REPORT; WE DECIDE. ISN’T THAT THE WAY IT’S SUPPOSED TO WORK HERE?????

Comment by Christine

There is no contradiction here folks; just a misleading headline and a biased assessment injected rather than letting us decide for ourselves what the report says.

McCain: “… unless the United States is able to fully verify the nuclear declaration Pyongyang submitted on June 26.”

Palin: “And North Korea, of course, better live up to its end of the bargain there, … That end of the bargain has got to be lived up to, …”

Worded differently, expressed differently, but having the same meaning.

Wow I love this lady very much, she is very good more in acting more than Tina fay

Comment by Michelle

The commenters here are fascinating. Fascinatingly unaware that is.

If you analyze both Palin’s and McCain’s statements, they are not counter to each other at all. Both call for North Korea to continue to be open about nuclear inspections. McCain put the onus on the current administration to explain what rules North Korea would be required to meet, while Palin directed her comments toward North Korea’s obligations to meet those rules.

How can Americans like yourselves be so blind to miss the similarities? Oh, I remember, it’s because the media told you the statements were different. So you blindly believed them. Just like you believed that the economic woes would be solved by bailing out the rich Wall Street bankers.

You are absolutely pathetic.

John L….some of us Obama supporters trying to help educate the McCain Palin supporters since many just stick with FOX and don’t do research on what is false and misleading. Some also express their opinions regarding the lack of readiness of Sarah Palin. It is quite obvious to us from this and other indicidents and evidence. It is not that the CNN servers crashed. FOX is just one of our stops in evaluating information. BTW, CNN is the most balanced of all the networks. FOX is far far right, MSNBC hosts are mostly slightly to alot on the left. I guess CNN appeals to me since I’m conservative independent.

Sounds like something the chosen one would say. For instance, let the UN take care of the Russia and Georgia conflict. Well, with all his greatness and 300 foreign policy advisors didn’t bother to study up on government, because Russia has veto power in the UN. Therefore, the UN can’t do squat. Maybe, if Obama had more than 143 days of experience he would have have known this. No time for on the job training. To all you Palin bashers get over it. Don’t hate someone because you didn’t do jack with life.

Comment by Brian H

She’s great. The answer was well within the bounds of reasonable discussion and disagreement, both here and globally. There is no sure way to coerce a nutjob like Kim to be reasonable. In any case, between P and VP, the P decides. If you want a yes-man/woman, you get zero additional thinking and perspective.

Which about describes O-bots to a T.

“Wonders shall never end, Pastors of Satan on John Maccain`s campaign.”

How can a pastor praying to God as if he was talking to John Maccain? satan always put words in foe and fake pastors` mouth.

Any divided and empty visions never stand the test of time. Divide will fall and united will stand .

For a woman who never is to be heart beat away form the presidency , it is terrible to have appointed or chosen Palin who have no experience on official issues.

May be N. Korea can be seem from her Alaska window. Bravo. Maccain is right when she made poor judgement. I mean chosen Palin is ademostration of poor judgement.

I advised John Maccain to repudiate John Maccain`s statemant.

John Maccain welcomed new evil and divisive canmpaigns aimed at Obama but always call Obama to repuidiate John Lewis.

Is John Maccain God?

Why didn`t John Maccain repudiate his recent Pastor`s comment on election, which demeaned other religions.?

Palin should at least know the simple operations of our government. How can you govern without even knowing basic current events?

The reason why Sarah Palin disagrees with John McCain is because she can see North Korea from Alaska and knows what’s happening there.

Comment by BradKT

There’s only one Hillary Clinton and she belongs to the Democrats! The big mistake that the Republicans made this year was that they should have never tried to find an right-wing imitation of Hillary Clinton. By trying to do so, they outsmarted themselves. They should have just picked the best of John McCain’s challengers who could have helped him…Mitt Romney, Rudy Guliani, etc…or a Senator or someone else with a high national profile and national/international experience. John McCain and his advisors thought that they could find a right-wing version of Hillary and that both disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters and conservatives would vote for her (a ridiculous assumption that Hillary Clinton liberals and conservatives would support the same candidate and beat Barack Obama)…BUT, there’s one big difference…even if you don’t like Hillary Clinton (who I don’t especially like), she does have her act together. Gov. Sarah Palin does not. Gov. Palin had to be brought up to speed almost completely via briefing books for the VP candidate debate because she had no knowledge of national or international issues. Hillary does know these issues…and that’s the difference. And now, it’s showing. Where Hillary Clinton may have been ready to be President, Sarah Palin is not!

You almost have to wonder if Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos (Republicans voting for Hillary to sow confusion, discord and prolong the Democratic Party primaries) wound up fooling John McCain and his advisors. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate irony!

Comment by Liza

Palin’s response gave me a flashback to the Katie Couric interviews. She rambles, talks in circles, and makes no sense. There is no substance here. All she’s good for is inciting hate and smearing her opponent. I actually considered voting McCain until he announced his VP choice.

The Media Better get “With it”

The media is not being honest about our candidates. Actually they haven’t been honest about Obama since day one.

Why is anyone pushing Obama and Biden?

Obama has no experience.
He’s risky.
He is scary.
His friends, his associates and his background should be questioned daily.

Rev. Wright, Farrakhan, Rezko, William Ayers, Father Plaeger and now ACORN.
We have a racist, an Islamic leader, a criminal, a terrorist and a fraudulent grass root community group.

Obama is running for President of our country, not for American Idol or for a “public speaking” position.

If the media doesn’t do it’s job. Obama and his group of “obama girl” followers might end up in our living rooms.

Obama is embarrassing.
McCain is experienced and a true patriot.

Barack Obama is American too. He is half-White and half-black, why you guys prioritize your racism over the future of your own country? McCain has lost control of his campaign. Palin has no clue what she is talking about and the more palin talks the lower in the polls he will fall. John, sit palin in the corner and tell her to shut up and keep her feet off the furniture, after all, that is the job of a VP.

Ithink McCain campaign has done one basic thing wrong in PALIN’S case. They have not allowed her to be herself. Now she has lost all the confidence in herself. McCain & Co. are sexist. If Palin was allowed to be herself, whe would have been saying Obama-Palin for USA.
