Palin Goes After Obama on Issue of Abortion

JOHNSTOWN, PA - Continuing her role as attack dog for the GOP ticket, Sarah Palin went after Barack Obama hard saying the Democratic nominee, “defended his unconditional support for unlimited abortions.”

She told the crowd she was quoting Obama when she said, “That a woman shouldn’t have to be quote punished with a baby. Ladies and gentlemen he said that right here in Johnstown– punished with a baby. It’s about time we called him on it.”

What Obama was actually talking about was access to quality sex education and personalized it talking about his two young daughters, “But, if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.”

As she has been saying on the stump she said her criticism should not be misinterpreted, “Americans need to see his record for what it is and please it is not negative, it is not mean spirited to talk about his record.”

She continued her attacks whacking the Illinois Senator saying he “voted against bills to end partial birth abortion” while he was in the state Senate

“It was thankfully a bipartisan majority that passed legislation against that practice. Senator Obama opposed that bill. He voted against it in committee and then voted present on the Senate floor and in that legislature just so you know present is how you vote when you are against something, but you don’t want to be held to account.” Palin said, ” Obama thinks it is a constitutional right, but he is wrong.”

**UPDATE**

Obama Senior Adviser Anita Dunn responded to Palin’s remarks on abortion and her criticism of the Democratic nominee, “Gov. Palin’s comments today show that with this election, the right to choose hangs in the balance. On this issue, the choice is clear: While Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin will make the right to choose illegal, Sen. Obama will protect that right, while working to reduce the need for abortions and find common ground on this issue.”

The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee saved her most scathing assault when talking about the Born Alive Protection Act, “Most troubling though, most troubling even, is that as a State Senator, Barack Obama wouldn’t even stand up for the rights of infants born alive during an abortion. These infants, often babies with special needs, they’re simply left to die. And in 2002, Congress unanimously passed a federal law to require medical care,” Palin said. “They are living breathing babies. But Sen. Obama describes them as pre-viable.”

Palin added, “Sen. Obama is a politician who has long since left behind even the middle ground on the issue of life.”

The crowd cheered at every swipe at Obama including when Palin said his record is “absolutely radical” on the issue of abortion.

She pressed that a vote for her opponent is a “vote for activist courts that will continue to smother the open and democratic debate that we deserve and that we need on this issue of life.” She added that electing Obama “would give the ultimate power over the issue of life to a politician who has never once done anything to protect the unborn.”

Palin often talks about her advocacy for those with special needs on the trail usually evoking her personal experience, as she did today, with her 4 month old son Trig who has Down Syndrome. She openly spoke about when she first learned the news and said that at first she was “very scared.”

“Now, when I learned that my son Trig would have special needs, to be honest with you, I had to pray that my heart would be prepared for the challenges to come. It was a shock. I wasn’t ready for this. I had to ask for that strength.”

However, this is the first time she has discussed the issue of abortion so specifically. Palin believes that all abortions should be outlawed, unless the life of the mother is at risk — even in cases of rape and incest. Her running mate also wants Roe v. Wade overturned, but John McCain believes that in cases of rape and incest that abortion should be legal.

She wound down her remarks by hitting the entire Democratic Party on the issue of abortion, “We need more compassion on this. We need more compassion and idealism that our opponent’s own party at its best, at its best, that party once stood for.”

Does Palin have an ethical bone in her body? Oh, I forget she was destined to the highest office of this land, as her husband said. Who is that guy anyway? How come no one is running a background check on him?

“What Obama was actually talking about” is exactly what Palin stated he supported. Young women are women, and Obama stating stating his perspective that having a baby is punishment is exactly that. It is what it is.

The quality of Fox News Reporting and it’s reputation for fair and balanced reporting is being diminished with another example of lack of objectivity.

You report, we decide; a good motto you should stand by.

This is not gonna work. If Palin claims to be a born again christian. Then she needs to speak the truth. She cannot sacrifice the truth on the altar of politics. This is disappointing! Why associate christianity to a political party that promotes leaders that are out liars like this? Evengelicals should tell these type of leaders to stop using the bible for their ambition. No political party sent any soul to heaven.

Yeah for Sarah Palin! This is the heart beat of why she is despised by the liberals and why she is loved by those who appreciate life. Every baby would choose life. I am pro-choice….choose what is best for the baby! Pro-choice…what is best for the woman in the long run. Pro…choice…choose before you get pregnant. Many women who have aborted realize later what they have done and they have to live with the terrible guilt. Even victims of rape and incest have had children which lived very productive lives. Yeah for Sarah Palin! This is the topic that has to be the most controversial for her to address!

I don’t understand Mrs. Palin with all of this abortion stuff.
She is just being shrill and appealing to her base. Who is turned on by this? The catholics have already made the decision to mostly vote for Senator Obama. Most of the non-evangelical Christians are voting for Senator Obama. Who is uncommitted or independent and would get turned on by this?

Weird.

I think the McCain/Palin team are, as my father used to say, “chickens-with-their-heads-cut-off”. What’s next?? These two are erratic and inflammatory. If that is the definition of a maverick or being unconventional, well then, that’s pretty looney. Like Looney Tunes. We have John “Elmer” McFudd and his sidekick hunting for the wabbit and he’ll get that wabbit no matter what. No matter what he’ll get that wabbit because he knows what it means to get wictory. Yes, wabbits and wictory.

Who the hell really cares about abortion right now with our economy imploding and two wars going on? If you don’t like abortion, don’t get one for Christ’s sake.

I’m a Republican and am completely ashamed of McCain’s pick, how he’s running the campaign and their focus on BS! Not to mention that it’s supremely hypocritical to be “pro-life” and pro-war.

Thanks, had to get that off my chest.

Why is it when we had the presidency the house and senate a favorable supreme court we did not overturn roe vs wade? we did not change any pro-abortion laws? and gay rights are growing.

I am impressed by the earlier comments on this report in someone stated “Evengelicals should tell these type of leaders to stop using the bible for their ambition”. There is nothing wrong with being religious but when it come to politics and relgion we have got to remember that there are Church Versus State regulations anchored into the very marrow of our government. Personal choices are subject to controversy but in the end they are PERSONAL CHOICES, and whether or not the candidate agrees with the choices they have to be willing to defend and protect them.
I respect Sarah Palin for speaking out on her choices, and it is very brave of her to talk about such a subject that most people try to avoid, but she should not be doing this as a vice-presidental nominee. We have so many other issues to be concerned with. We should be focusing on keeping the economic and enviromental intergrity of our country together before we wander off into such issues.
Also I find it troubling that someone running for the Executive Branch is trying to involve herself in a Judcial Branch’s affairs. The Judicial and the Legislative branches are no place for the Vice-Preisdent to be sticking their noses into.
So while I applaud Sarah Palin for finding an issue that inspires her to rhetoric triumphs that help us see the true orator hidden behind the SNL satire I am deeply aggrieved at how improperly non-American she is acting about it.

And this my friends is the exact moment that the McCain/Palin ticket threw in the towel.
The abortion issue may fire up the base but she allready has these votes in the pocket. It will change the minds of no one and will in all liklyhood drive away many moderates whose main concern is the economy. If you are not adding net votes, you are simply stumping for your pet issue before you loose the national stage. Looks like Caribou Barbie will be back home in Alaska in time for Thanksgiving.

As I read the comments above about this abortion article, it completely consumes me with sadness. There is a remnant of us out here that still truly believe in life and that it is very precious from the moment of conception. I am a Christian and I thank God that there is someone who will speak up for those that are not able to. Abortion is barbaric and inhumane. Most of you think this is not an important issue at all. May God have mercy on America.

Desperation leads one to say desperate things. McCain leaves all his dirty work & words to Palin did ya notice? Why? Because he is old & his brain is tired. No part of government or church should stick their noses into a womans business on abortion. It is something between her & her doctor. This is going to lead to clothes hanger abortions & if they can feel good about that, OMG.

I am Pro-Life, so this issue DOES matter to me.

If this issue doesn’t matter to you, move on…don’t read the article…go blog somewhere else…but if you are Pro-Choice, respect my ‘choice’ and others to celebrate Life.

For those of you that accept JESUS CHRIST as your LORD and SAVIOR, read

Psalm 139
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

If that doesn’t mean life at conception, what does it mean?

Face it. It’s the only thing she’s got. I, however, think she’s got her own explaining to do. She flew to LA at the end of her third trimester of a fifth preganancy (that we know about), and when her water started leaking, she decided to ignore it so she could give a speech. Then after the speech, still leaking, she flew back to Alaska instead of seeking medical attention in LA. The plane even had a stop in Seattle betwen LA and Alaska. I know of no woman who would exercise such negligence as that. Did she want to lose the child? Jeopardize his ability to live? How long had she known it was going to be a Down’s Syndrome child? In photos that were supposed to be taken in the second and third trimester, it’s hard to tell she was even pregnant. Was she trying for low birth weight baby and thus one not so strong?

I hope she addresses this and also gets around to protecting those who have been born and are receiving low to no health care. If she cares about life, she’ll want to change that. She can start with Alaska.

Sierra, I think Sarah Palin is addressing the stated view of Obama. She is exposing his views, his voting record on the issue of life. And that is part of the campaign since it is his record/McCain’s record which needs to be exposed. In this case, her record also. Did it occur to anyone that with 40 million more people in the U.S. we would have a bigger tax base? Would this not affect our economy? Is whether or not we protect the vulnerable and helpless not an issue of grave importance in any society? Can we trust someone to protect us if he/she is not willing to protect the helpless? The McCain administration will not overturn Roe vs. Wade, although “Roe” herself would overturn it if she could! Societies which devalue humans and see them as objects to be exploited, whether they are adults or children, are heartless, devoid of compassion, self-serving and untrustworthy. If it is babies now, will it be the aged, the disabled, the people of faith next? Where will it lead?

Obama wants to legalize partial birth abortion, anyone who is for this is either ignorant or in denial. This is where a baby is delivered 99.9% of the way. Then the abortionist stabs the baby in the back of the upper neck with scissors and sucks out the brain collapsing the skull. Anyone that is for this is ons sick Fuc$. By the way Obama zombies, don’t you find it odd that he is such a extreme liberal yet he apposes gay marriage? Don’t you see through this stuffed suit who only opposes gay marriage because 51% of the country opposes it. Had it been 49% he would be all for it. He is so phony, shallow and has made suckers out of so many people. America is being hoodwinked and bamboozled.

I am more and more impressed with Sarah Palin EVERY day. I am a proud Catholic and a proud McCain/Palin supporter! Any Catholic that you know that is voting for Obama is clearly and simply participating in evil and is NOT following the teachings of the Catholic church. The fact that so many people are able to take a stance of being “Pro-Choice” is because their mothers CHOSE to give birth to them and were clearly “Pro-Life.” Just imagine… if so many of these aborted babies were given the opportunity to live, who knows the things that they could have accomplished in this world! I believe in the value of life, I believe in Sarah Palin, I believe that McCain/Palin WILL make our country a better and safer place to live!

If Palin practiced and preached contraception in her own family, she wouldn’t have to face the ugly reality of abortion, nor the blind alley of teenage parenthood, nor the heavy burden of caring for a special needs child. Her family’s experiences stand as testament to the bankrupcy of her beliefs. Abstinence as a public policy is a prescription for more pregnancy and more abortion.

Palin Speaks Truth About Obama and His Support for Unrestricted Abortion

Here are the facts: Modern science leaves no excuse for anyone to deny the humanity of innocent pre-born babies. Therefore, the call for the protection of innocent human life is a demand for justice, it is not, as Barack Obama and Joe Biden falsely claim, an imposition of personal religious convictions. This is not an issue of religion, it is an issue of justice. Let us face reality, every day in the United States, 4,000 babies are violently ripped apart, limb by limb from their mother’s wombs, and Barack Obama has the audacity and arrogance to say that this practice of ripping babies out of their mother’s wombs is acceptable because women do not deserve to be punished with a baby?

Barack Obama’s views on babies as being a punishment for women are totally despicable!

At one time I was Pro-Choice but after having to hold a beautiful baby girl, that her 23 year old mother didn’t want. The lifeless body wet and cold so little so unwanted but yet she had the face of an angel. What a wonderful future this child could have, with just a little chance. I put the body in a bucket marked as medical waste, cried and quit my job . After 20 years I still think of that little child. I am now and always will be prolife.
