Palin Attends Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Special Needs Home
North Olmstead, OH –
Being an advocate for those with special needs–especially children–is one of the duties Sarah Palin has said will be her responsibility if she becomes Vice-President.
Today, she began that advocacy and attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Michael T. George Welcome Center– a home for adults with special needs, including Down Syndrome which affects both Palin’s infant son Trig and the five year old boy the center is named for.
The Alaska governor cut the ribbon to open up the center and was accompanied by the home’s namesake, 5-year-old Michael T. George and his parents - Tony and Kristine. Around fifty spectators also came out to watch the opening ceremony.
Palin toured the home and then came out with the George family to give brief remarks. She was introduced by Tony George, who said he and his wife, Kristine, asked Palin to come cut the ribbon for the center and “without hesitation, she said yes.”
Speaking to the crowd, Palin spoke while Michael’s mother, Kristine held him right behind the GOP Vice-Presidential nominee. Palin remarked that she asked Michael if he was skipping school today. Kristine said yes, he had to call in sick, and then Michael started to pretend to cough. “Quite the little character, the little actor,” Palin remarked.
She then spoke about her own infant son Trig who also has Down Syndrome, “I see in him what I hope that my son in just a few years will be also,” she said. “A happy, healthy, such a joy filled little man. I cannot wait until my Trig is of that age also and we can share more of life’s joys with him.”
Palin said how important it is to help those with special needs and to not look at those with disabilities as a burden, “Helping families who have loved ones with special needs, I hope that is the top of all of our lists, and I hope we all share a vision of an America where the special needs of our citizens are a priority and we don’t look at those who have special needs as a problem or a burden but we look at them as a promise and as opportunity to show America’s heart as we reach out and we assist and we do all that we can to let those with special needs know how much we do cherish them, how much we care.”
John McCain’s number two did not mention politics or the campaign trail during the ceremony, but she did say that when it comes to the disabled that partisanship should not play a role, “A country where every life matters and every child is cherished and adult is cherished also. I believe this is an area where partisanship needs to just fly out the window.” Palin said, “Who cares what party you are in when you are dealing with issues that truly affect the lives of those who maybe have more challenges than the rest of us. No partisanship at all in these types of issues, please.”
Before getting back on the Straight Talk Express to go to a fundraiser in Pittsburgh she met with families on the rope line—one supporter gave her a sparkling red lipstick broach, which she immediately affixed to her lapel.

Sarah, you truly are a wonderful person and we should all be delighted that someone like you could be elected as Vice President of our United States of America. We need good people with a strong sense of character. Where character actually matters.
God bless those kids.
Lets hope McCain dont get elected and chops all spending…
The weakest and innocent will always be the ones first and most hurt…
All these people calling Sarah Palin “stupid”, “A Moron”, etc…what does that say to you then if she got nominated to be VP and you prob just got off your shift at McDonalds? Some of you ignorant people should look in the mirror before you start name callling. I don’t see Obama or Biden doing any charitable work, they are too busy campaigning and putting their campaign first and country last, but who is surprised at that? Not me, that’s for sure.
Sarah, you are a good example for the right of the mewborns . I appreciate yours and your husbands, because it is the Godly thing to do.
I think we should start calling her WONDER WOMAN!
Which fits, because John McCain is a bona fide war hero, a SUPERMAN!
America needs heroes!
Obama is more like ROBIN, the BOY WONDER. He still has some dues to pay before he earns the cape and cowl.
Palin is an evil creep and her husband is worse. They should not be allowed to meet with any children at any time. Good thing they have teenage children to watch their young ones while they spread hate across america
she better be careful if she sees anyone in a white suit
For those of you who only read and watch Fox news, and they will not tell you this, conservative icon William F. Buckley has just endorsed Barack Obama.
To the Fox news employees and RNC members who constantly leave posts accusing people who say they’re switching to Obama of actually being democrats the whole time: suck it.
sara should be careful if she sees any guys lingering around in white suits
Whatever Palin, be sure to hide that ear piece in your ear real well so we don’t see them pulling your verbal strings. Palin is virtually the sole reason our Republican family is jumping ship and voting for Obama. They are not heros in any way, a man that cheats on his wives and marries his 2nd wife only one month later after leaving his disfigured wife is not a hero. And Palin has proven time and time again she is far to clueless and crazy to be a hero of any sorts. She didn’t gain any Hillary supporters either, she’s been a complete failure.
Nice advertisement. I guess I’ll send another $100 to Alaska Special Olympics.
You are wonderful Sarah. You had every right to fire that incompetent guy in Alaska. Love ya!
If you wish a fair coverage on the GOP turn to FOX New’s. If you wish a slanted one sided view, all for the Donkey side, then turn to the other channels.
why is this in the political section it should be in the humor section
She, specifically, cut ’special needs’ funding, some 65% or so, while in office before the birth of her newborn. GOOGLE IT. palin cuts special needs funding
As a Democrat, I’d just like to thank the short-sighted neo-conservative wing of the Republican Party. Without you, none of this would be possible. The un-vetted, in-experienced moose hunter from Alaska, the Republican party’s best and brightest shining star, has delivered the knock-out blow to her own party.
It was brilliant, I must admit when Karl Rove vetoed John McCain’s wishes for his Vice Presidential pick. Rove knew that American’s wanted a fire-breathing divider, a lipsticked PIG to smear the good names of patriotic Americans. Rove knew that what this country needed most was DIVISION. Forget about healing and bringing the country together! In tough times we need a VP who will question the patriotism of a brilliant US senator! We need to divide the country and continue the immoral policies of the neo-conservative (National Socialist) criminals who have all but destroyed this country. We need a VP who will give unlimited interviews to FOXNews and stir up the flames of racism, fear, and doubt. Karl Rove knew what was best, but he didn’t count on millions of patriotic Americans who stand up to lies, see through slander, and care enough about this country to reject the entire flawed and illogical philosophies of today’s Republican Party.
In closing, I’d just like to quote something from the bi-partisan report issued this evening:
Sarah Palin has so strong power that comes from great responsibilities and a reform experience.
She, also, is warm-hearted a beautiful woman. How many times I’ve prayed “Thank God for sending American such a wonderful and faithful woman, Sahah Palin as a VP of USA.”
this is for Kristen and the rest of you who seem to think that everything someone does is driven by politics….The woman has a heart and it seems to be in the right place…WHY when someone is supporting a wonderful thing like this for children and adults who will always have hatred thrown in their face, do we look at that person with such contempt…she shows me character, a big heart, core values and above all Faith in God…because only a child of God has a loving and giving heart…
[...] From WKYC-TV [Cleveland], and Foxnews.com: [...]
She pulls heart-strings with her work with special needs children, while rousing dangerous hatred against Obama. I just don’t know what to think of this woman.
For those of you who wish to burry your head in the sand you better think twice about this election. Now we have a mess here in Ohio (and other states) thanks to the Obama campaign.
His early get out and vote campaign has caused quite the havoc. Voter fraud is now rampant.

P.S. Democrat’s are followers and Republican’s are leaders….
Seem’s that “THAT ONE” is herding them up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OSAMA BIN LADEN stated that “we will get you from within”.
