Linda/Michigan: I’m Michigan born and raised, can think and research on my own, and can also understand the word “non-partisan” (even if it IS hyphenated). The mud, taken on average, has been SO much worse coming from the republican side during this election cycle, that it is truly disgusting. I heard once, many years ago, that when trying to influence others, you first try to inspire hope with ideas; failing that, you then do your best to instill fear by creating doubt about the alternative(s). This, so far, is what I’ve seen from McCain’s surrogates, and it’s sad.
I VOTED for McCain in the Michigan 2000 primary.
Even if you discount all the trash from both sides, I see and hear the disrespect that McCain shows toward Obama at every face to face encounter. The one that got me, was the report that as the senate passed the bailout bill, Obama crossed the aisle to shake the hand of his opponent, and McCain showed him a cold shoulder, and gave him a dismissive half-second handshake.
I don’t want a quick-tempered, angry and bitter guy (or gal) in the oval office.
To me, throwing out all the trash talk from BOTH sides, Obama looks increasingly like the more even-tempered and steady, with a positive attitude, and fresh ideas.
Regardless of which horse you’re betting on in this race, I think the electorate (as evidenced by almost all the polling data thus far) is seeing the same things that I am.

Besides, his running mate, Obama, is very careful to cover up his past…..he has denied close associations with his pastor, his friend Bill Ayers, (who put him in charge of 50 million dollars to disperse,) his real estate agent Tony Rezco… and on and on the list goes. We should be able to look over our past histories, and be proud of people that have helped us get ahead….but it appears that Obama uses people to climb his ladder of success, kicks them to the curb when it is inconvenient for his polls. I do not trust his judgment to protect our country….because of his shady associations and schemes to get ahead, he might do anything to get approval from other nations.

When Joe Biden was asked what his duties as Vice President were to be he stated that one of the duties was to be present for every major decision and discussion. Does this mean that Obama needs someone else to tell him how to respond or think? Does this mean he needs on-the-job training? With all of the evidence that the FBI is digging up and links to Obama does he need a legal defense fund established? When the ethics commitees begin hearings on the Representatives and Senators that accepted illegal monies from the mortgage giants will Obama then need a legal defense fund as Frank, Reed, and Dodd will? Since Obama has never really submitted ANY initiatives or bills while a Senator, how will he know what one looks like IF he becomes President? Since Obama has requested almost the equivalent of a million dollars a day of earmark pork spending since he arrived to the Senate whill he step that up to a billion IF he becomes President? Since Obama has NEVER served in one of our Armed Forces does he even know what types of weapon systems we even have or our rank structure? Since Obama can’t even pass a background check or be ever issued a security clearance, how will he be allowed to receive sensitive informational briefs? Will Biden have to take the briefs and then tell Obama?

These are just a few questions that I and millions of American citizens have.

We really would like a few honest answers.
