NRA Makes It Official: Endorse McCain-Palin
Not a big surprise. The National Rifle Association has officially endorsed the McCain-Palin campaign for president. Here is their release:
Fairfax, VA. - The National Rifle Association’s (NRA) Executive Vice President, Wayne LaPierre, and NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) Chairman Chris W. Cox are traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa., Springfield, Mo., Colorado Springs, Colo. and Reno, Nev. today for a series of press conferences endorsing Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin for President and Vice President respectively in the November 4 election.
“John McCain has more than two decades of pro-gun and pro-hunting votes in Congress. He has stood time and again to preserve our Second Amendment freedom and our rich hunting heritage,” said LaPierre. “Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin have earned the NRA-PVF’s endorsement and we will encourage gun owners, hunters and anyone who values freedom to vote McCain-Palin on November 4.”
“NRA members and gun owners will not allow Barack Obama to hide his radical record of opposition to our constitutional rights,” said Cox. “Obama has voted to make self-defense with a firearm in the home illegal, has voted to ban the most commonly owned hunting shotguns, has voted to ban commonly owned hunting ammunition, and has supported a 500% tax increase on guns and ammunition. We will remind voters every single time he pretends that his anti-gun record doesn’t exist.”
John McCain voted for the landmark Firearms Owners Protection Act and the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, opposed the failed Clinton Gun Ban, and voted against mandatory waiting periods, national gun registration, and bans on hunting ammunition. He also signed the historic congressional amicus brief in the case of Heller v. District of Columbia, holding that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms — a brief that Senator Obama refused to sign.
Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin is a hunter, gun owner and NRA Life Member. Gov. Palin has been a consistent and outspoken supporter of the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen.

I don’t think the Sarah Palin Tent Revival and Gun Show is working too well for Republicans.
Just canceled my NRA membership….
Now lets talk about the issues, like the economy education and health care like McCain have
Ha! This hit today and I just joined the NRA this morning…
Fox is for idiots. No really….does anyone actually believe anything from Fox “News.” Does it even matter when it’s reported on Fox “News.” Fox…stop calling this “news” and just call it what it is, silly entertainment, just like Family Guy and all those other shows on Fox.

WE HAVE TO STOP ALL THAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY.
DO WE WANT A TRAINED PUPPET…..OR DO WE WANT….. A MAN WITH WISDOM AND A LOVE FOR HIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AGE IS NOT A FACTOR! WITH AGE WE GROW MORE WISE !!!!!!!!!!!!
‘
VOTE FOR : ” JOHN MCCAIN & SARAH PALIN ” GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA ! PATTI/NC
while I don’t think it will help much, I’m glad that the NRA endorsed Senator McCain and Governor Palin for the White House..
I know that I’m going to vote for Senator McCain for our president and not just because of their gun record, but more for Senator Obama’s anti-gun record.
I am so glad the NRA endorsed McCain/Palin.
I changed my vote when Obama had some ads banned, doesn’t sound like freedom of speach to me.. Sounds like Obama felt we who are voting don’t know how to make their own decision.
I wanted Mike Huckabee to win, now I will definitly vote for McCain/Palin.
I’m confused. Where exactly does this press release mention that the NRA once called McCain “one of the premier flag-carriers for enemies of the Second Amendment”? I’m also missing where they point out that McCain supported the assault weapons ban (an NRA hot-button nono), and supported background checks at gun shows (another NRA nono). Meanwhile, they have to stretch the truth almost to the breaking point to find any votes that Obama made that were harmful to the Second Amendment. The NRA has officially lost any credibility beyond knee-jerk partisanship.
Good for the NRA, I became discouraged when Obama’s people had the NRA’s ad’s banned.
I was curious what they were afraid of. What was in them that was so bad? Were they inaccurate?
Didn’t expect the NRA to endorse Obama. They have misrepresented his views anyways. Obama is NOT against gun ownership. Frankly if you guys were involved in community organizing on the streets of Chicago you would agree that a gun owner doesn’t need an AK 49. What do you care anyways when minorities are hurting from assault rifles? Since you guys are also beleivers in the Bible, I pray that you will still say ‘God bless America ‘when Obama is elected and that you will fully endorse him in 2012 after a marvellous first term.
Who is Palin ??

I agree with the NRA, we will need guns to hunt for food soon as we enter the greater depression.
My dad and his brothers used to bring home deer and rabbit every week after they finished their 60+ hours at the mill so the family could eat. Did I mention my father was 14?
When Republicans want old time values…be carefull what you wish for.
Wayne LaPierre flip-flops worse than a Massachusetts politician.
2001: “John McCain is one of the premier flag carriers of the enemies of the 2nd Amendment” –Wayne LaPierre
2008: “John McCain has more than two decades of pro-gun and pro-hunting votes in Congress. He has stood time and again to preserve our Second Amendment freedom ” –Wayne LaPierre
Protect the constitution from Obama & Biden (2 lawyers who are mocking the constitution).
Rights to bear firearms is 2nd amendment of Constitution.
McCain-Palin.
The NRA should have shown up a while back when it was the in thing to endorce McCain. Theri endorcement now appears desparate.
Well, gee. Now that is such a surprise. Look into the history of the NRA, would ya? They were formed to keep black men from getting their hands on guns. Obama (unfortunately) isn’t going to take away their ridiculous 2nd amendment rights.
As for mocking the constitution, what is left after 8 years of Bush is in shreds, man.
