About Last Night
INDIANAPOLIS - Barack Obama’s campaign called last night’s debate a “resounding victory” for their candidate. At a rally in wet Indiana today, Obama got a resounding applause from the 20,000 on hand just by mentioning it.
“In last night’s debate, John McCain and I,” Obama began as the crowd roared.
One more time.
“In last night’s debate, John McCain and I each had the chance to make the case for change – to talk about what we would do differently from the last eight years when it comes to lifting our middle-class, growing our economy, and restoring our prosperity. But all we heard from Senator McCain was more of the same Bush economics that led us into this mess in the first place,” he continued.
Obama then recalled the point in last night’s debate when the candidates were asked if health care was your right or your responsibility, using it as a launch pad for his latest attack on McCain’s health care plan.
“We were both asked whether we believed that health care should finally be the right of every American. I believe it should. But Senator McCain didn’t say that. And when you look at his radical health care plan, you can see why,” Obama said.
Take McCain’s $5,000 credit to purchase health care.
“He didn’t mention last night that he’ll also tax your benefits for the first time in history. It’s an old Washington game. They call it the bait and switch. He gives you a tax credit with one hand, but raises your taxes with the other. And he didn’t mention that the average health care plan costs $12,000 in the first place,” Obama said.
Obama said 20 million Americans will lose their health insurance from their employer under McCain’s plan and deregulation would mean the insurance industry wouldn’t have to cover things like vaccines, mammograms, or maternity care. “He thinks we wouldn’t notice these things. Well, I’ve got news for John McCain: we notice, we know better.”

and the Obama campaign would be right. They won, despite Obama handing John McCain every opportunity to blow this campaign open. I never thought McCain would be such a weak campaigner.
I do not want to fund health care as a taxpayer - I do not want to pay for others coverage as we are doing now - state funded insurance programs are a joke as will be a federal one - we are giving to much away free - were is our citizens accountability? stop having children you cannot afford…and we would not have so many uninsured - I refuse to pay more taxes to pay for America’s deadbeats!!! I will be shicked if this is actually posted as I have poasted several comment the past week with none ever being posted - - -
I’m not sure about McCain’s plan for health care but the one thing it does that Obama’s doesn’t do is leave it in the hands of the free market. Obama’s plan puts too much into the hands of the government. The Big G can’t even run Medicare effectively and efficiently, why would we want them to have ANY control over private healthcare. Also, the mandate to have our children covered is a government intervention into the lives of private citizens. What happens for the folks that can’t afford even $50 or $60 a mos to cover their children? Jail, fines, what????
I don’t know about you but the less the government is involved in my life the better for all of us.
Obama is the most inexpierenced, liberal man to ever run for president and that includes George McGovern. The peolpe who back him are mostly uninformed people who think the government can fix all their problems. This is antithetical to the American eithic of self reliance. We have already become socialist enough without componding the problem by someone who hides his Marxist/Black liberation philosphy. We live in an increasingly dangerous world and although I do not agree with Senator McCain this is not the time to trust the Comander in Chief role to Neville Chamberlain type appeaser. He is naive and to idealistic to handle the likes of the Iranian President and Vladimar Puitin. His forieng policy advisers are Carter retreads and rember he is the president who did nothing about the Iranian hostage crisis and made perhaps the greatest forien policy mistake in US history by not backing the Shah of Iran (for idealistic reasons much like Obamas) and allowing the birth of the radical Islamist movement in Iram and elsewhere. Peolpe wake up! Yes we do need change just not the kind of radical change that is not new but just the same old outdated liberal ideas of the 60’s and 70’s. If you want the most liberal gang of polititians that have ever come down the pike running the government, i.e. Pelosi. Reid and Obama, then vote for this fraud of candidate. They will set back this country for a generation.
What a snake…don’t ever come back to my city again and spread your LIES!
Not like he has a chance in Indiana, unless ACORN fixes the election in Lake County (which they are trying to do with the 11,000 registrations thrown out due to fraud). Almost every house in my neighborhood has a McCain and a Daniels sign. Going to be hard to beat Reps. in Indiana, Mitch Daniels has turned our economy around here.
Can anyone really say that we had a real town hall meeting last night? All questions had to be approved by tom brokoff. It was a joke. The robots asked their pre approved questions. I kept hoping that some one would break away and just ask a spontanious question. Can’t obama just answer a question off the cuff without the disertation and abusing the clock.
We stii need universal health care
RADICAL - obama you have no RIGHT to ever use that word. Look in the mirror - or at all your RADICAL friends.
We still need universal health care for the United States. Watch Michael Moores movie Sicko.
Embed, you have premanent disallowed me to give my comments. Is it because I am not for Obama? Is you program to promote the condidacy of Senator Obama? I think the citizens have the right to make comments. I think that the citizens have the right to know of WHO IS THE REAL BARACK OBAMA. I think that Senator McCain has the rights and obligations to tell the American people of who is BARACK OBAMA. I think that Senator McCain must continue to fight agressively and disclose to the American people who have the rights to know who is BARACK OBAMA. This is just being honest, not racist and not a “mallarkey as Senator Joe Biden had accused Gov. Palin.
I think WE, the people have the right to know the TRUTH. Thanks.
Pobably the bet canditate ij O—Bu–ma
Both the candidates did try to attack each other. But the manner Obama critisized Mccain was more civilized than The “THAT ONE”.
obama 08!!
obama how is your so called plan going to be paid for. we are a demoracy not a socialitic country. you lose my vote. promise everyone that money will fall from the sky, be real
Obama was sensational last night once again showing that he deserves to be the leader of the United States of America.
Did anyone see John McCain’s stump speech today in which he stated, “Across this country this is the agenda I have set before my fellow prisoners,” he declared. In the prepared remarks he was supposed to say “fellow citizens.”
Come on America, the old guy is in the early stage of dementia or ahlzheimer’s. He is hung up on wars and living in the past and he will keep us in a war, any war.

You can’t expect McCain to understand the cost of health insurance, since he’s been on government insurance every day of his life.
Both of them were so boring, I couldn’t stand to watch for very long without switching channels. I kept coming back and was “bored again”. They both tell us they are going to do so many things, but do not explain exactly how they will get this done. I assume they understand that they need congress to enact these laws. We are not electing emperor’s after all. Neither one has a plan to stop saving idiots from themselves. They look for ways to enable more idiocy. As in every election, I have to vote for he who will do less damage. In this election, that falls to McCain.
I truely believe in the economic plan of the Obama campain. McCain seems to be grasping in the dark, trying to find something, anything, that the populas will back him on. And everytime he grabs nothing but air. This independant will go blue in November
I just hope that the people of America wakes up from their slumber before it’s to late. I want to seize this opportunity to let the good people of America know that the difference is clear, and the difference is Obama. Let’s be realistic with ourselves Obama has got better plans for the majority of Americans compare to McCain. McCain does’nt know what he’s doing and he’s surrounded by my pocket first people. Candidly speaking McCain is truly erratic in his behaviour, and I strongly believed that USA does not need someone like McCain as President not after eight years of messing up USA by another dullard like McCain. The main reason why America as a country is suffering right now.
John “Hugo Chavez” McCain
John McCain is no more a Republican then Ron Paul (a Republican) pretending to be a Libertarian. No more then Cynthia McKinney (a left wing loon) Democratic pretending to be a green party member. The debate went pretty good between the two until John McCain slipped up and made one of the biggest blunders ever. John stated that he wanted to use three hundred billion additional dollars from the middle class for the Government to directly buy home mortgages. The Republicans, especially Sarah Palin have been sprouting out that government should get out of the private sector, and that government should be small. Many Republicans said passing the bailout bill was a form of socialism Hugo Chavez of Venezuela subscribes to, and what I heard last night from John McCain was Hypocrisy. Here you have a Republican going against the very core of his party’s beliefs “a maverick”, and the Republican base is so mesmerized by Sarah Palin’s charm that they cannot see they are voting for a man who is not really a Republican. The Maverick is so desperate to win the Presidency that he is willing to plunge American deeper into a socialist type of environment by adding three hundred billion dollars more, and taking the country deeper into debt. Where is he going to get this money? America you must remember that if the Republicans win Sarah Palin will not be President, but John “Hugo Chavez” McCain will.
I am amazed at people who are against Obama’s Healthcare. It will not impact your current healthcare if you have other than perhaps make it cheaper and will help those who cant afford it get it for free or cheaply. If we do not do this with the way the economy is we will soon see homeless and diseased people on every street corner. We can easily become a third world country.
There’s all kinds of self-serving politicians in Washington now. Do we really want to hand over to the government our health insurance woes too? Why would I want Washington to be involved with the health insurance policy I pick? I can already see all kinds of golden parachutes falling from the sky if Obama is elected.
BO is again misleading Americans.
I cannot see how either candidate can claim victory when this dbeate was so poorly ran. I expected the moderating to be better. I can not blame either candidate for the runaway lack of direction type of answering of questions, when the moderator allowed it to occur. In any event that has an officiator the officiator should be invisible. But, should it be necessary, the officiator should only need to establish control once, and only once.
Obama is the Liar!
He doesn’t mention that his claim of not taxing anyone making under 250,000 a year is not for an individual, it is for a married couple. 125K each is a lot closer to middle class than how he represents his plan.
What is the matter with everyone?
We have a clear choice of the future of our country and its downtrodden people.
We can elect Senator McCain as our president, who believes in the old tired system of free enterprise, and a government of the people, which has always been part of the American culture and thus part of the problem. A moderate who believes in a free market with less government control. One who believes, we Americans should be responsible for our own well being, which includes our own Health insurance, Jobs, credit scores, acquiring wealth and (gulp) living within our means. Tired, Tired, Tired)
OR.
We can elect Senator Obama, who is, after years of trying, exactly what this country needs. An elected president from the far left, who believes that it’s the Government who should be responsible for our lives and not us. Imagine a government that will make sure we have all that we need. No longer will we need to worry about Health insurance, Jobs, and homes. No longer will we need to make big decisions. The government will do it for us. We won’t have to worry about Credit scores for the purchase of cars and homes. No longer will we have to worry about creating wealth, we will be able to take from the rich, and give it to those of us who really need it. I agree with Senator Obama, it’s about time the wealthy shared some of what they earned with me and others like me. Yes, at last, we as a people will have everything we want in a government.
Let’s see now, what do I want? Well, I want a new car, and possibly one of the seven homes that Senator McCain has. (After all he has more then he needs).
Folks it is time for a change so let’s get on Senator Obama’s feed wagon. We will never have to worry again.
Can’t Wait—
Wga
What TV were they looking at - John McCain beat the articulate stuffed shirt Robin Hood Obama hands down. Why isn’t the media looking into Robin Hood Obama’s connection with ACORN. He was one of the instructors of the ACORN workers when he was a “community organizer”. This man is bad for the country and I hope his supporters don’t find that out after the election. John McCain is the man with a record that can be searched. Google Barack Obama and look at his thin record. Where is the outcry to his association to Bill Ayres that gave Robin Hood Obama millions of funny money to give to schools that taught radical ideology. Get informed people, before it is too late.
I watched the debate and I disagree with the article’s first statement about Berry Abama “wins” the debate. He is continuing to say the same things and I cannot trust this man. All of the reports on his background and associations are astounding to me that anyone would listen to him. McClain speaks from his heart and desire to bring a sense and sensibility to the excecutive branch. Obama is for the party only and it shows. That is what is wrong with congress now. Most are for the “party” only and do not think of me in the middle class.
Guys cant you open your eyes and see who si ready rto commander in chief? If you didnt learn from last night debate then you may something personal to obama. Overall obama still wining both debates. Maccain kind of trying to attack obama on something which he knows americans are not ready to listen, what they want to hear is how ready you are and what are you going to do for them to overcome from this bush’s policy which put us where we are and maccain was a big supporter to bush. So Obama is oviously our next prersident of united states.
MCCAIN WON BOTH DEBATES…
PALIN WON HERS.
OBOMA SOUNDED LIKE HE WAS ON THE STUMP.
THAT IS ALL HE KNOWS AND THE WORD AND,AND,AND,AND,AND,AND,AND,
MCCAIN SHOWED OBOMA UP. MCCAIN HAD THE KNIFE AND SLICED OBOMA ON EVERY SUBJECT,
OBOMA WAS DOING THE STUMP SEECH….. AND I WAS A HILLARY SUPPORTER…..
NOW TO MAKE SURE AMERICA STAYS SAFE I WILL FOR THE FRIST TIME IN MY ADULT LIFE VOTE REP. AND PALIN AND MCCAIN……
AMERICA ASK YOUR SELF WHERE DOES ALL THIS MONEY OBOMA GETS COME FROM???????
NOW ASK YOUR SELF WHAT WILL IT COST AMERICANS??????
YOU DO NOTICE OBOMA GETS MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS……
YET THE POLES DO NOT RISE UP IN HIS FAVOR……
CAN ONLY BE THE MONEY IS COMING FROM OVER SEAS……… THEY CAN NOT VOTE IN AN AMERICAN ELECTION……..
BE WARE THE MEDIA WILL NOT TELL US….. THAT OBOMA IS SELLING AMERICA RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER US…….
THAT ONE WAS PERFECT.
THAT REALLY DISCRIBES OBOMA…..
THE MEDIA IS SO OBOMA….
THANK GOD FOR MCCAIN AND PALIN…..
YOU GO 2008.
THE LIES OBOMA TELLS HOPEFULLY WILL TRIP HIM (OBOMA) UP REAL SOON…..
Obama gets it, after last night…he gets my vote. This country needs the change that Obama can provide.
0bama was just amazing. He’s informed, prepared and has great plan for America.
The right is so desperate now.
What do McCain and Bush have in common?
ANSWER: everything
You must be an idiot. You should never assume who the voters of the other candidate are without a least a little bit of knowledge. I, for one, follow the agenda more than any other person I know and I work at a newspaper. You offend me with your lack of true knowledge. You must be one of the 22% of this nation that think Dubya is doing a good job. I voted for him. He has done a bad job. You should look in the mirror and find the man inside and stop being a hack. The world is tired of you. Obama in 08! not because I am a crazy liberal who does not understand but because I do understand and it is necessary to change the sheets.
You people are crazy. Can you really call Obama a liar when McCain has been called out by every fact checking site for his lack of truth. what is wronge with you people? I know you don’t like Obama and that is fine but why can’t you see truth when it is in front of you? I am disappointed with Obama and McCain because of the misleading polotics but it is two way street and McCain is driving down it much faster. Why can’t you see it?
Independent, Conservative and Proud.
Sometimes I feel like the only seeing man in a city of blind people.
Hey what about McCains plan to let tax payers buy other peoples houses so they can stay in them ??
Is that communism or the free market ??
BTW. If Ayers or Wright was such a big deal, then you should look into McCain pastor problem, keating 5 and his ties radical groups.. just google it, it is not hard to find, since Fox wont do fair or balanced reporting…
Well all I have to say is I love Obama! He hit it out of the park! McCain with his lame jokes was pitiful, I felt he didn’t truly answer the questions. He didn’t give true steps. Obama is right I’ve been there with health insurance, they will set up shop and deny a lot of things. McCain didn’t think of that. I have family members working in a job that has no benefits and can’t afford any. Obama is going to fix that. McCain can careless because he has his insurance so why bother with the lower class. McCain makes me ill. Plus McCain has money so is he going to put a lot of people in his houses that have lost their house due to the economy. What about those cookies. Obama is about family, keeping jobs in America, healthcare, and etc… I’m so sick and tired of McCain keeping the rich richer and the middle class going poor! Oh this about no need for on the job training, I guess butt kissing to Bush is on the job training. Obama doesn’t need to kiss nobody butt he is his own man! McCain just needs to sit down and enjoy life by visiting Vets in the hospital.
And the other reason why McCain will NOT have my vote is because he doesn’t show respect to the other people around him. So if he is across the table with a foreign leader is he not going to show respect, heck he didn’t show respect to Obama. I saw that quick exit after the debate and the i’m not going to shake your hand after the debate. So why leave early oh yea make a stupid ad against Obama. So highschool! McCain will never get my vote unless to bow out gracefully, then I’ll vote for him to get the heck on out! I’m looking for someone with common sense and I found it in Obama. Obama runs circles around McCain, heck Michelle can run double circles around Cindy! I like a President that will take his jacket off and get down and dirty with the people. I see Obama helping folks and not losing himself among the D.C. nuts. Obama has my vote so I’m ready for Nov 4th! McCain/Palin can go and look from her porch and look at Russia from Alaska while eating moose burgers!
what?
Buy up the sour mortgages?
Steal from the public to reward those took out every bit of equity form their homes to live beyond their means?
This man want to be our president?
The original bailout was hard to swallow. This is pure poison.
Now it must be Obama.
I finally understand where Obama is coming from on health care. Brokaw asked if health care is a right, privilege or responsibility. Obama views it as a “right”. He was honest. Many of us view most things as privileges and responsibilities rather than rights. The constitution defined our rights and how we use those rights to “pursue happiness” is each person’s privilege granted by the constitution. We do NOT have a right to health care, but rather the right to pursue it and the government to interfere with that pursuit. Any health care we acquire is a privilege because someone was lucky enough or worked hard enough to get it. In either case, the government should not interfere. From a moral perspective, each of us has a responsibility to provide for ourselves and those who are directly dependent on us to provide for them so as to not place the burden on our fellow countrymen. This morality is NOT the responsibility of the government. In essence by providing health care because it is the right or moral thing to do, allows the government to determine morality. Not just in the US history, but in world history, anytime the government attempted to control a supply of a good or service, a few things happen. People find ways to work around the system (black markets are created), supply is reduced for the price offered (doctors pay reductions will force doctors out or reduce those who pursue the profession), or quality is reduced (doctors or technicians take short-cuts or cut diagnosis time). Moving health care to a “right” and enforcing the right on the people will affect the market for health care.
To Don, no longer independent,
What is it about Obama’s economic plan that you truly believe in? I am willing to bet that it strikes an emotional cord with you b/c you want to “punish” the wealthy and corporations. This is Obama’s intention. But ask yourself this…Will your life be better if the wealthy pay more taxes? No, it will not. In fact, it will only get worse. FYI…Here’s how the economy works. People (including those bad rich people you hate so much) have money and they use it to buy goods. The more money they have, the more goods they buy. The more goods they buy, the more revenue companies have. The more revenue companies have, the more they invest and grow their company. The more they are able to grow their company, the more new jobs they are able to create. The more new jobs they are able to create, the more money in salaries go to the middle class. This is not a difficult concept. It’s basic economic theory. Capitalism works. I’m sure the idea of Top-Down economics angers you, but you need to ask yourself how exactly Obama’s concept of Bottom-Up economics and higher corporate tax rates would work. If corporations are forced to pay higher taxes, they will leave and go overseas. FYI…China is offering companies NO TAXES to do just that, not to mention their workers get paid less. They have no incentive to stay. And when all the corporations have moved offshore and the wealthy are tired of being punished for their success so they move their money offshore, what will you do? There will be no jobs and no capital due to lack of investment from the wealthy. One final question for you to ponder… Have you ever worked for a poor person? Do you appreciate getting a paycheck? If you still plan to vote for Obama, you can have all the change you want… only it will literally be change, pennies and nickels and dimes.
Best of luck. You’re going to need it.
the people that come to Foxnews and post really do an injustice to America when you all believe you are so smart and right for the country, I have read borderline racist comments and comments that in no way possible would anyone be able to prove about Mr. Obama, if Obama we’re a Republican he would STILL be the best candidate for the job, we cannot have a 20th century president living in the 21st century, Obama doesn’t have any ties to any terrorist but its amazing how you guys want to say that he does, I think the problem is you see that Obama really is a true American, he has never been feed with a silver spoon he has earned everything that he has ever had, a real blue - collar american that is not worth 108 million, Mr Obama is by far qualified to be president of this country, we always want to brag on how diverse our nation is, but if thats the case, why have every president that has ever been elected looked the same…wake up people, and Shame on you.
Obama 08
Universal healthcare…
Do any of you Universal health care supporters know anyone from Canada? If so, call or email them and ask what they think. More importantly, why do they come here (US) for private medical services.
Of course what does it really matter… we are going to get whatever plan the special interest groups PAY to have implemented.
We are debating who is the better president, and missing the big picture… The country as a whole should get together and BAN lobbyist from Washington, remove the career politicians, and force a sponsored bill on a subject to be just that… on that subject. NO riders, no fat, no BS.
There is no more WE THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE… After 80% of the people opposed the bail out… you figure it out.
Something I would like to see and hear in the last debate. I know the economy is important, but so is illegal immigration, which I think directly links to this economy and I want to know what type of judges would each candidate nominate to the Supreme Court. Also, could we PLEASE have an impartial moderator next time. The questions asked last night, picked by Tom Brokaw were just awful and very biased for Barry obama
I am so tired of the Fox retoric. What is the matter with you guys. It is the ECONOMY and I’m so sick of your false reporting of the news. No wonder the world hates us. What we need is another narrow minded president as well as VP. She sure is not ready to service anything but maybe the girl scouts. Sets women back a 100 years.
Amazing, I thought Americans were smarter than this. “Free market” Never has been, never will be. There has to be limits on the effect of greed, malice and capriciousness on the market. It has been proven repeatedly that the market is not a “logical, rational player” but subject to emotional response to events. We have to recognize that power seeks more of the same, money goes where it’s well treated and no one gives up either willingly. If banks were limited to the risks (taken for CEO wealth) they can take (with other people’s money), we wouldn’t be bailing them out. So, an effective way of of protecting those exposed to risk created by the more powerful players just makes sense. We don’t have that now and yet, in the face of a potential disaster caused by that very situation, we continue to spout mindless, shrill partisan ideology. Like a bunch of dumb-### country ####’s. The same types of risks apply to healthcare and education: How does folks going broke because their kid is sick or kids getting a lousy education make Amaerica a better place? Healthy, well-educated people are an investment in our economy!! Look beyond simple platitudes - follow the money and see where it gets you.
“a real blue - collar american that is not worth 108 million”
You are right he is worth WAAAAAYYYY more. Especially after the “contributions” from Fannie…
Didn’t we lock up all of the guys involved with ENRON? Will we do that with Fannie? probably not. Too many Dems involved..
BTW, how do you define “blue -collar”?
Why do you not print things that do not agree with the will of the people
The only thing B. O. won was the hot air contest. His double talk, is also double standard as is his life he fights to keep hidden or lie to protect.
So, this is my theory on the election…
In my opinion, McCain lost the election when he chose Sarah Palin as his VP. Before you start shouting, let me explain my position. I realize that Sarah Palin has “energized the Republican Party” and could be considered wildly popular with Republicans, but what does that do exactly for McCain in the election? The answer: nothing. That’s great for the GOP that they have a new, energizing VP candidate, but as we know and as the McCain campaign is surely discovering, the world is not made up of only Republicans. This choice leaves out moderate/democrats and independent/undecided voters. You do not find many (if any) democrats, moderates, or independent/undecided voters who feel “excited” or “energized” by Palin let alone confident in her abilities. I am voting for Obama, but I want you to know that had McCain chosen someone like say Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is a woman and a very highly ranking Republican, who is considered to be slightly liberal, he would have my vote. McCain could have easily chosen someone who is intelligent and qualified that would have brought him more democratic and undecided votes, but he picked a person who leaves the rest of us out along with our votes.
Because the people have no more will.. we are all sheep.
Divided again by the people put in front us. While we are split and fight over who should lead us, the establishment robs us blind.
A country divided…
suzy dearest, Tom Brokaw is an republican, how could he be helping Obama ??
He let McCain do what ever he wanted and had Obama on a time table…
yeah he was so biased…
First time I have ever written a response to a poltical dialogue. However, I believe that my contribution is warranted. I am laughing hysterically at all the emotional responses from the republican respondents who use their complete lack of knowledge on the issues to make fools of themselves. They watch Bill O’Reilly religiously and spout out his inane rhetoric as if it were their own ideas. My brother is the only republican that I have met that uses logical arguments in his support for McCain. I still disagree with him, but at least he uses his brain rather than his emotions. McCain is going to lose. Obama will make a difference if the blowhard republicans in Congress do not do everything in their power to stop progress and line their own pockets. Anyone who says that Palin was a good choice is either lying in their comments or lying to themselves. Cindy McCain? Who cares what she says…unless it is McCain’s first wife who lost her husband to the adultress. She looks like a former stripper and adds nothing to the national dialogue. Get a grip, right-wingers!
Everyone in favor of turning America into a socialist country, raise your hands……..Okay now go on out and vote on the 4th for Obama!! He’s your man!! Say goodbye to capitallism, as we know it.
Think about who and what you are voting for!! Change we need, yes, but not this radical change that Obama will bring!!
America’s lazy and those seeking free handouts will most likely help elect Obama. If so, then what? If you think George was bad, hang on to your heads (and wallets). God help us.
The debate last night was boring. folks, we have heard all this same stuff for months and yes the economy is a big deal and needs immediate attention but, this is all we here about in the debates anymore. whatever happened to “illegal immigration” issues? The moderator had control of all questions asked last night but did not have control over his clock!! Nobama running his mouth about the same thing he practices in his speaches everyday. Time limits are made so they get directly to an answer. Many more questions could have been asked but it seemed Brokaw let nobama go on whenever he needed to and wasted time because we heard it already. Totally disrespectful to people who wanted answers to other questions. If Nobama makes it to the presidency stand by and get ready to be treated with the same disrespect. He will be taking his cue’s from Rezco, ayers, and those financial advisers who ran our economy into the ground. Kind of perfect timing for his campain, since he seems to have all the answers. Take a look where Nobama got his start, Bill Ayers all them years ago, and you can bet he has never forgot who got him his start. wonder how he will repay all these people for all there help behind the scenes. Wake up America, this man has a shady past. Do some reading before you vote. Nobama Claims he did not know who ayers was when he went to his house, well what is his excuse for all the other friends he has had to recently denounce. Really, this is not hollywood where you say and do all kinds of things and then apologize and then go back to business as usual.
McCain won and will surely get my vote. I just wish the election wasn’t rigged. All those fraudulent votes?? What can we do? Get ready America, we’re in for a rough ride. We are small business owners and I can tell you, if we are forced to provide health insurance for all of our employees, we’ll have to cut back. Can you say “UNEMPLOYMENT”
Taxes, taxes. Debt, debt. Which do you prefer? No taxes, but higher debt. Higher taxes but lower debt. I think we need to cut spending and the place to start is the Pentagon and Homeland Security. Instead of 60 cents on every dollar going to ’security issues’, reallocate some of that money to issues that effect people every day - infrastructure, education, domestic energy programs, healthcare. Why does the US need to spend more on defense than every other country in the world combined? Why do we have to throw our water away when we enter an airport - to keep us safe? Where is the common sense?
And as for healthcare…..when people are ill or injured, why is the first question about insurance? When and why did insurance become the determinant for taking care of someone? We talk about insurance and pretend we are talking about healthcare. All part of the ‘for profit’ aspect of our culture. You may get doctor or hospital service if you have insurance, but you still don’t necessarily have healthcare.
to g albert
Without your permission and I hope you don’t mind I cut and pasted your comment and sent it to my friends and family.
I won’t get the quote just right, but there is a saying that if you hear something enough, it makes an impression so hard to resist it becomes real.
America, I don’t care who you vote for because your vote is your RIGHT. There are men and women dying all over the world to protect your right. I believe this election will bring to light the true substance of American morality. It has split this country - gender / race/ age and party. IT IS NOT PRETTY and depending on who you support there will lie the blame.
Get over the blame game, and let’s start anew. Both candidates were right last night - we are a COUNTRY OF DOERS. We can solve all this if the voice of Americans are finally heard. Government corruption and greed are evil and we can all pray tonight that America will make the right decision and things WILL GET BETTER. Please. Don’t hedge your future on a President, get to work and keep producing.
I think both mcCain and obama did ok last night. But Obama will not get my vote! I already voted for mcCain In Ga!!!
where is the 300 billion dollars going to come from to buy people ’s bad mortgages - we the people
why are some people in a bad mortgage - because they were greedy and took on something they knew they could not afford - I say let them lose their houses - hell I can’t afford to buy a house - i know that - they should have known too. Maybe John McCain can give me one of his 13 houses
Here we are waiting for the election so we can Vote Against the one we Don’t Like. We join in the rock throwing and hate because it makes us feel better. We blame the ones who brought this mess on us as if they will still be in charge after the election. For the candidate, it seems that their past has very little to do with anything. The other party are liars and criminals and must be voted out but they aren’t. Promises are for votes but no one really expects them to be held to that do they ?
We have two hard working Border Patrolmen rotting in prison for doing their job but bail out thugs who have put our entire economy into a tail spin, but that’s ok.
We go to war with other countries and then after winning we rebuild what we destroyed and much much more. We buy peace.
If you haven’t heard what was the cause of most of our problems today then you haven’t read the book Eye to Eye, by William Koenig.
I am not excited or even impressed with either candidate for the Presidency but I will vote.
I love this country, and that’s not just a nice thing to say, I have been in other countries while serving in the armed forces.
What has put us into this mess is Ourselves. The Voters. Nothing will change unless we make it happen but I’m not sure we can handle it. We have been saying this for years but here we are.
I was still on the fence until last night. Forget the issues; nothing is ever decided during the presidential debates. If you want facts, go to their websites, read their plans and check out their statements via factcheck. That said, John McCain was really showing his age last night, and I began to doubt that he would survive a first term as leader of the free world. Sarah Palin has no statesmanship and is an embarrassment to the party. I wish Senator McCain had made a different selection. During the “debate,” Barack Obama seemed poised and collected under pressure. It struck me that this is how he woulld present himself and represent the US to the rest of the world. It is naiive to think that doesn’t matter. The world is smaller and more connected than any other time in history, and it’s time we regained our respect. It’s easy to get caught up in the Republican-Democrat competitiveness. Believe me, I’m as guilty of it as anyone else. But I am becoming more and more confident in the direction that Senator Obama would take us. Granted, he has a lot of work ahead, but I believe he’s more than capable to take on the task.
Healthcare is RIGHT but what is life? A PRIVILEGE? - Sorry, my friends, if I can borrow that one from John McCain. This seems backwards to me. Life is RIGHT and Healthcare is a PRIVILEGE. I am more for both being RIGHT but what he stands for does not make sense. I know that I am bias. I can not hand over the keys to some that tells me that he can drive my car based on theories versus someone that has done it. I honestly feel that I am more qualified to be president than Obama. I have some questionable friends when I was young but known of them hated America. If I had friends like Obama had. I would of persuaded them to LOVE America. I consider myself a leader and not a follower. Who was the leader and who was the follower? With Obama being such a eloquent speaker - why isn’t Ayers, Wright or Farrakahn more pro-America. It seems that they lead and he was followed until he longer needs them. Ayers, Farrakahn and Obama live all on the same street. Too many coincidences for me. Ayers was earmarked money that was to be distributed to schools and groups. Obama was in charge and distributed the funds according to Ayer’s standards. Would he continue with this philosophy if allowed to distribute funds from tax payers’ funds? See through the Mist. Use your heart, intelligence and forget party affiliation. You only get one shot. I may be able to survive through Obama’s mistakes for the next 4 years…… can you?
I can’t believe that our citizens will stoop so low as to elect a guy for President that can’t even pass a nuclear weapons security background investigation and i guarantee you that Obama CAN’T pass one. I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT OUR CITIZENS WOULD MAKE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF OUR ARMED FORCES A GUY THAT HAS SUCH A SHADY AND QUESTIONABLE BACKGROUND AS BARACK OBAMA. HIS CHARACTER IS IN QUESTION!!!!! MCCAIN ASKS A VERY LEGITIMATE QUESTION—-”WHO IS THIS MAN AND WHERE DID HE COME FROM??”" PLEASE PEOPLE, I HAVE MORE FAITH IN OUR CITIZENS THAN TO BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT YOU TRUST BARACK OBAMA WITH THE NATIONAL SECURITY OF THIS COUNTRY, WHICH IS THE PRIMARY DIRECTIVE GIVEN TO THE POTUS.
“We are small business owners and I can tell you, if we are forced to provide health insurance for all of our employees, we’ll have to cut back. Can you say “UNEMPLOYMENT””
Then all these small business owners should just close their businesses. We are not that hopeless in this country. Have you ever heard of increasing your revenue instead of cutting back? I believe in American capitalism and their business innovation. I also believe in responsibility toward my employees.
Apparently McCain supporters must be enjoying the mess America is in. For crying out loud America is BROKE. Debt means no money. We are borrowing from China. And for those of you that are concerned about taxes being raised. Hello news flash! How in God’s name are we going to come out of our 3 trillion dollars worth of debt without raising some taxes? So reality check! if we vote McCain in and he does not change any of GW tax policies (like he said last night during the debate) we will NEVER get out of this financial mess GW has put us in. So let’s be real and stop living in a fantasy land.
I believe the Democratic Party committed a crime when they nominated a man whose associations would have made it impossible to become a police officer or federal agent, but put him within reach of becoming the president of our country. How did this happen and who is responsible? I demand to know.
My goodness Michael your comments are dangerously ignorant and your view of united states history is distorted.
if Obama were to become president would someone have to teach him to salute like they did bill clinton??? would he tear the military apart like bill clinton did to balance the budget? obama’s disrespect to the National Anthem and the Flag points to the worst commander and chief in the history of our Country… it is pathetic to think that the American people would accept a man that has little faith in the wonderful people of this country as the man to “lead” the most energetic, strong willed society the world has ever seen…If the media hadn’t chosen the annointed leader we would not be faced with the sadness we will experience for the next four years…de je vous…jimmy carter revisited…what a shame that all of Americans cannot see what has happened to us in the last 6 months…we aren’t choosing the next President of the United States…abc, nbc, and cbs are…how sad this time has become
I need to speak out this evening. I hope someone reads this and that I am the voice of reason.
I am sickened over the negative comments people are making about both Obama and McCain all over the Internet. It is nasty, dirty and negative. It’s like venom, it’s sick and it’s shameful. Isn’t anyone else bothered by this? It’s growing like a cancer.
I am more upset over this negativity than I am the economy right now. In fact, I think all this negativism is festering and that our economy can’t get better unless we lay aside our hate and anger and work together.
I love John McCain, does that make me a target? Yes, sadly, it does. I wrote a letter to my local newspaper and got HATE mail. Is this the mentality of those who support Obama? It’s pretty sad if it is. I would never write hate mail to a person who supports Obama, so what gives someone the right to do this to me?
I saw a short TV segment (short becuase I turned off the TV in disgust) of John McCain speaking at a rally today. He is a war hero, he is my hero, and people were screaming “liar, liar” at him. Quite frankly, I believe John and I believe these people are nasty troublemakers who want to destroy McCain, just to make Obama look like an angel. He is no angel. Let he is is without sin, cast the first stone. Are any of us without sin? Are any of YOU perfect?
I am reminded of Jesus, before he was crucified. An angry mob destroyed and ridiculed him, just like they are doing to John McCain. I feel helpless, I am ashamed to call myself an American when people treat one of our heroes, in public, in such a venomous way.
I want to be proud to be an American and I am NOT proud of this part of America. Isn’t it time we all pay attention to facts, and respect the other side. How can we get past this?
United we stand, divided we fall. Our partisan country is very divided. It is no surprise that our economy is such a mess? If we are so divided and so busy pointing fingers at each other, what does this do to America? What are we teaching our children?
Shame on us all!
God Bless America, I pray for us all this evening. I can’t watch the news anymore and watch my hero torn apart by the liberal media. I can’t bear it, you are all so wrong. John WILL make a great President and probably Obama might do an OK job as well if he is elected, can’t be at least be NICE to each other?
Andrea-
Let’s talk about corporate responsibility. Greed is what drives companies to go overseas. American companies that go overseas out of greed don’t deserve to be here in the first place. They care more about money than the welfare of their own country. Let all their employees go live in China and see how much they like it.
It’s time for Americans to start supporting those companies that keep their business here in the US and put an end to this nonsense. Maybe we should bring back those ‘Made in the USA’ stickers. That would be patriotic, and good for the economy of this country. We need to get out of this cycle of buying cheap foreign goods that are supported by child labor and practices like illegal logging- and then having to deal with customer service people who can barely speak English.
But beyond all that, most of these corporations and rich people aren’t paying the taxes the supposed to, even now. Do you remember Leona Helmsley- &
