Palin Talks to the Press Aboard Her Plane
GREENVILLE, NC –
Sarah Palin granted her traveling press corps their first full press conference aboard her plane today and said she will continue to link Barack Obama to 1960’s radical Bill Ayers even while Americans are suffering with the crushing economic crisis:
“Americans are caring about the problems in the economy of course And wanting to know what those long term solutions are that our ticket can provide and what the other ticket is proposing so when you talk though about what it is that we are proposing and what it is that Barack Obama is proposing again it is relevant to connect that association that he has with Ayers–not so much he as a person Ayers, but the whole situation and the truthfulness and the judgment there that you must question if again he’s not being forthright in all of his answers as to how did you know him, when did you know him, why would you continue to be associated with him?” Palin asked, “It makes you wonder about the forthrightedness, the truthfulness of the plans that he is telling America in regards to the economic recovery because that is first and foremost on Americans’ minds.”
This was the first time the Alaska governor took questions from the reporters who have been traveling with her over the last month. The rare opportunity took place on a flight from Pensacola, FL to Greenville, NC. She introduced herself to the press she did not know and engaged in some small talk about reporter’s families even passing me a Happy Birthday message to my mom after she learned it was her birthday.
We quickly moved on to asking her questions and she said her packed rallies have been “energizing” and that the GOP ticket can be “trusted” to fix the financial crisis, “It is, though, about the economy, about creating jobs and about resource development and energy independence here. It comes down to one ticket’s proposal that can be trusted and another ticket’s proposal to deal with some of these issues and maybe questioning the truthfulness, the intention. I think it is very relevant.”
Palin was clear that she was not calling the Democratic nominee “dishonest”, but as she has been on the trail she did question his “judgment.”
Palin was asked to reflect on the halfway point in her candidacy as a month has passed and she has a month to go. She said that much has happened and “will happen in the campaign,” but stayed positive that her ticket will be victorious come Election Day, “I’ve been in an underdog position quite often in my life and so has John McCain and we both have come out victoriously coming from that underdog position and I anticipate that that’s what’s going to be what we see at the end of the day on November 4th.” Palin said, “So I look forward to that. But I’m just even more—energized campaign, energized mission that we’ll be on as we get out there and into more parts of the nation, talkin’ about the economic recovery plan that we have.”
She also responded to her husband deciding to testify in the investigation known as “Troopergate.” She said the investigation has turned ”controversial” because it is being lead by an Alaska Senate Democrat, but pressed that her husband has been an “open book” during the inquiry and wanted to speak with both investigators and attorneys, “Nobody has anything to hide. Nobody’s done anything wrong. My choice, and my responsibility to replace a cabinet member, an at-will exempt political appointment whom I did replace, because his strengths were in other areas. It wasn’t in running an entire department. There was some, some duties there that he was not able to fulfill.” Palin said, “§o my choice, my responsibility had nothing to do with my husband or any of my staff members asking a guy to step aside and take another job, and he didn’t want to take that other job.”
In a lighter moment a reporter asked the GOP Vice-Presidential candidate if she would appear on Saturday Night Live and give Tina Fey “a taste of her own medicine.” She laughed and couldn’t contain how much she wanted to appear on the show, “I would love to. I would love to. I love her. She’s a hoot and she’s so talented and it would be fun to either imitate her or keep on giving her more material and keep her in business.”
Even with the hard questions the atmosphere was light and it seemed as if the Governor was happy to finally be able to interact with the reporters who have been trailing her from swing state to battleground state and back again eagerly awaiting this moment.

Thanks Shushannah for making clear what is obviously another mess of gobbledygook from the maverick.
Tina Fey was in business and successful well before Ms. Palin came along and will continue to be successful once Ms. Palin packs her bags and heads back to Alaska.
Come on gang. She is an embarrassment to our party. i have been a loyal republican for years but once we started catering to the religious folks– we became negative with the err of being racist, bigots with homo-phobic tendancies. i am a true republican who want less government, greater rights and more international diplomacy. bring back the republican party!
You can tell Palin went to five colleges in six years. Her grammar is atrocious. As a woman, I find her appalling. She would send us 30 years backwards. She needs to go back to Alaska, get impeached, and be gone from the public eye.
Let us not forget that it was the McCain team that put her off limits…treated her like a bumbling idiot. Maybe they were right?
I really like Palin. She is an inspiration to American women. A breath of fresh air.
Who care what Palin thinks anymore? She has helped sink McCain big time, which of course is McCain’s own fault by selecting such an inept running mate. Soon she’ll be back home in Alaska and hopefully to never be heard from again. Maybe Alaska can become an independent country and she can be the dictator she has always dreamed of being.
This woman needs her own reality show after the election. How many times did she say ” Ya Betcha” and Mavericky?
Cotton candy. Please. Seriously. Does anyone really understand what the hell she’s talking about?
What a dummy.
If I counted correctly, her first sentence had 123 words in it? I guess she figures if she puts enough words in her answer, she will look smart? She doesn’t have enough words to ever make me thinks she is smart. She is evidently in her element mud-slinging Obama and we can see how she reacts to competition. Is there any wonder how she treated officials in Alaska who didn’t agree with her? All I can say, Sarah, is that your lipstick is smearing and you’re still a pig!
““Americans are caring about the problems in the economy of course And wanting to know what those long term solutions are that our ticket can provide and what the other ticket is proposing so when you talk though about what it is that we are proposing and what it is that Barack Obama is proposing again it is relevant to connect that association that he has with Ayers–not so much he as a person Ayers, but the whole situation and the truthfulness and the judgment there that you must question if again he’s not being forthright in all of his answers as to how did you know him, when did you know him, why would you continue to be associated with him?” Palin asked, “It makes you wonder about the forthrightedness, the truthfulness of the plans that he is telling America in regards to the economic recovery because that is first and foremost on Americans’ minds.””
Pure evidence of Mad (Moose) Cow Disease.
Her brain must look like cheap Swiss cheese…
Palin would make a good cheerleader. As a conservative I am aghast that anyone would think Palin is even remotely qualified to be president! She is bush with a dress and lipstick. Do you really want four more years of that? Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich…now THAT would have been a team! Palin is horrible and McCain is too old. Clearly.
Sarah Palin…I hope she does more interviews. She’s like the psycho homecoming queen…kind of like Denise Richards in “Drop Dead Gorgeous”. I mean, I think both candidates are full of it, but Palin is quite clearly insane.
Does she really suffer from such a bad case of verbal diarrheoa?
Ayers’s influence on what is taught in the nation’s public schools is likely to grow in the future. Last month, he was elected vice president for curriculum of the 25,000-member American Educational Research Association (AERA), the nation’s largest organization of education-school professors and researchers. Ayers won the election handily, and there is no doubt that his fellow education professors knew whom they were voting for. In the short biographical statement distributed to prospective voters beforehand, Ayers listed among his scholarly books Fugitive Days, an unapologetic memoir about his ten years in the Weather Underground. The book includes dramatic accounts of how he bombed the Pentagon and other public buildings.
AERA already does a great deal to advance the social-justice teaching agenda in the nation’s schools and has established a Social Justice Division with its own executive director. With Bill Ayers now part of the organization’s national leadership, you can be sure that it will encourage even more funding and support for research on how teachers can promote left-wing ideology in the nation’s classrooms–and correspondingly less support for research on such mundane subjects as the best methods for teaching underprivileged children to read.
what?
Did you make a conscious decision to mock her by quoting her verbatim and at length? That whole run-on second paragraph? Even dropping the “g” in “talkin’”?
“Americans are caring about the problems in the economy of course And wanting to know what those long term solutions are that our ticket can provide and what the other ticket is proposing so when you talk though about what it is that we are proposing and what it is that Barack Obama is proposing again it is relevant to connect that association that he has with Ayers–not so much he as a person Ayers, but the whole situation and the truthfulness and the judgment there that you must question if again he’s not being forthright in all of his answers as to how did you know him, when did you know him, why would you continue to be associated with him?”
Please. please read this again. This is the best we as Republicans could come up with for Vice-President? John McCain and the Republican leadership should be ashamed.
“Even with hard questions the atmosphere was light.” I don’t get it. What hard questions?
The parrot speaks and who exactly cares. Rove, Schmidt and Davis write a script for her it takes her a few days to remember it. This one is not qualified and will soon be yesterdays igloo trash. OBAMANOS! Senator Obama trumped Mc Same again tonight!
Great report. Keep up the good work.
Palin’s only use to the McCain campaign is to attack Obama’s distant association with Ayers and she’s not smart enough to vary from the programmed babble.
“Even with the hard questions the atmosphere was light and it seemed as if the Governor was happy to finally be able to interact with the reporters who have been trailing her from swing state to battleground state and back again eagerly awaiting this moment.”
I’ve read this story three times and I still can’t find ANY hard questions. I assume whoever wrote this is not a journalist, as it reads more like an Entertainment Tonight story or an especially weak People magazine piece.
Also, I guess that this “reporter” doesn’t realize that those reeaaalllllly long direct quotes from Palin not only should have been shortened for brevity’s sake, but they also should have been paraphrased because they needed to be translated in actual thoughts and ideas. Repeated verbatim, they are almost nonsensical.
Sara Palin embarrasses me to be a woman. She is clearly out of her league.
Every time I see her I envision Mary Hart at a Beauty Pageant. She needs to go soon. She is illiterate and reminds me of a beauty pageant contestant who won’t ever win the title which is the case with her. She needs to educate herself and give it up the porn style comments. She is so lame and dumb if she didn’t have a cue card or teleprompter this woman would be toast watch the Katie interviews. I am a Republican and so disgusted with his choice. There are many brighter female Republicans then Palien (yes she is a liar). MCCain lost so many females by choosing this (fe)male candidate. I bet her bush is bigger than George’s bush…Nasty
[...] actually spoke to reporters today, too bad it wasn’t in comprehensible English. [...]
What a ditz.
It’s amazing that you didn’t include this bit reported by CBS News.

Asked why she hasn’t been focusing her remarks over the last few days not on the tanking economy, but rather on the questionable connection between Barack Obama and 1960s radical William Ayers, Palin defended her tactic.
“Well, Americans are caring about the problems in the economy, of course, and wanting to know what those long-term solutions are that our ticket can provide and what the other ticket is proposing,” Palin said. “So when you talk though about what it is that we are proposing and what it is that Barack Obama is proposing, again it is relevant to connect that association that he has with Ayers, not so much he as a person—Ayers—but the whole situation and the truthfulness and the judgment there that you must question if again he’s not being forthright in all of his answers as to how did you know him, when did you know him, why would you continue to be associated with him?”
*****
Talk about being in the tank for a candidate - Fox News is ignoring that Palin is completely incoherent in her speaking. Later she even makes up a word “forthrightedness.” What is it that you all see in her?
Give me a break Shushannah. Your so weak, you have no clue.
Hey…where’d my comment go? Alls I said was hey, here’s this gal here, Sarah Palin, dontcha know, and she’s a total prom queen psycho! Keep interviewin’ her! It’s for sure loads of laughs!
Shushannah, excellent report. We love Sarah! Tell your mom happy birthday for us out here on Main Street.
Again, I didn’t see nothing but generic, prepared and rambling responses from Palin. She was on her own plane, and this is what she could deliver?
Yeah… Talking Points Machine.

That first quote pretty much sums up Palin…a 120 word sentence that rambles on and on about absolutely nothing. hilarious.
A couple of Palin supporters are out hunting in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing and his eyes have rolled back in his head.
The other guy whips out his mobile phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?”
The operator, in a soothing voice, says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.”
There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy’s voice comes back on the line. He says: “OK, now what?”
You know, it must be true about the new ranks of English majors and journalists: they really are inept. For one, this article is poorly written, and two, it’s as one-sided as the Titanic in its last minutes above the Atlantic Ocean. Where does Fox News get off calling itself a news organization? The recent televised dispatch concerning the Newsweek cover was laughable. When reporting the news, here’s a clue: don’t be emotional. Just state your facts and let the controversey arise — if there is one — from there. Just a thought from a friend in the news biz.
Way to go Sarah. It’s up to you to get the word out - you won’t be able to rely on the liberal press.
Didn’t your parents teach you fools anything? You hang around with a low life long enough you become just like one!
Obama AS AN ADULT (proven fact!) - has participated in the same kind of hateful thinking towards our country as those in question such as Ayers.
I know the pick for President AND V.P. leaves alot to be desired people but please, I would rather have someone in office who’s love and dedication for his country has NEVER been questioned.
McCain has never been friends with those who hate us. Don’t you get it?? People like Obama WANT to be elected to worm in their slimmy friends who hate America and guess what you moron’s, they hate you too!! You were born into exactly the kind of free thinking country they hate!
We are all very concerned about the economy, it’s horrible whats happened but, do you really think Obama has anymore experience than McCain? Actually, it’s a toss up regarding the economy.
Patriotism for this election is more important to me than voting in a person who seems cool and well spoken (which Obama is). I think he’s evil!! Look up his AND his wife’s family tree, not much has gone on in the sacrifice for our country in either of their families - odd, isn’t it? I bet most if not all of us have some family member (and not from wayyyyy back) that has/is serving in the military. I have a nephew, my son and his wife both serving as well as several cousins and uncle’s.
For this election - Sacrifice and love for our country settles it for me.
Obama - wolf in sheeps clothing!
