Palin Previews Tonight’s Debate

Jacksonville, FL –-

Sarah Palin previewed her running mate’s debate tonight and said that the country will “get another look at the contrasts” and went out to point out the disparities she sees in the two candidates, “We will see the difference between a politician who puts his faith in government and a leader who puts his faith in you. The difference between inspiring words and inspiring deeds and you are going to see the difference between a politician who observes and analyzes us and a leader who understands us,” Palin said. “In short Florida, it is going to be the difference between a guy who makes big promises and a guy who gets things done. The time for choosing is near and it is all about what we believe in. “

She continued on that theme of what her ticket believes in promising the crowd that they believe in the same ideals that Ronald Reagan espoused, “I promise you what John McCain and I what we believe in is what Ronald Reagan believed in. We believe in a culture of life and we believe in a nation that represents perfect values and ideals. We are not a perfect nation and we learn from our mistakes, but what we represent collectively are these perfect ideals of democracy and freedom.”

She went on to say that the country is a “nation of exceptionalism” and America is “not the problem” but, “can be the solution.”

The rally at the Jacksonville Landings was packed with thousands of enthusiastic supporters mostly dressed in her now signature red. The crowd interrupted her remarks at one point to chant “Nobama! Nobama!” inciting a roar from the rest of the crowd. Supporters are increasingly holding more negative signs with a supporter waving a “Shame on You” sign to the media and another participant waving a “There is No Doubt about McCain-Palin’s Loyalties” sign.

The Alaska governor hit the Democratic ticket again saying they look backwards and that a McCain-Palin administration will fix America’s current financial crisis while Obama is exploiting the problem, “On the other hand, for a campaign that says it’s all about the future, our opponents sure do talk a lot about the past. They look to the past, because that’s where you find blame. We’re looking to the future because that’s where you find solutions,” Palin said. “John McCain is the only man in this race who will solve the economic crisis and not exploit it and as Senator, he’s seen the corrupt ways of Washington and wasteful spending and other abuses of power. And as president, I promise you I’m gonna help him do this, we’re gonna end those abuses.”

The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said that a McCain-Palin administration would impose a “spending freeze” in government besides for its “most vital functions.” She also said they would “review every federal agency” and “eliminate” the parts that “aren’t working for the American people.”

Palin again tried to link Obama to 1960s radical Bill Ayers and questioned his “judgment and truthfulness.” She went on to inquire how much Obama knew about Ayers radical past when they met and linked that to whether the Democratic nominee would question the Iranian President’s terror links and extreme comments, “Since he got called out on his plans to meet unconditionally with terror state leaders like Ahjmadinejad will he now claim that he was unaware if his radical background?”

Palin said yesterday that the campaign may get a little “rough” as we get closer to Election Day – It was clear today that we are 28 days away from November 4th.

Try examining the records of John McCain over the last 6 years and let’s see just what he’s learned from his 3 decades of experience.

I just like Sarah’s comments regarding a comaprison of the two candidates. She is really fired up, go Palin!…….I hope McCain keep his cool as he put NOBAMA in his place and expose him to the real NOBAMA and his terrorist friends and the corruption tides he has with ACORN…NOBAMA is just a present vote and he is a chicken who always run away from problems or big issues.

Good luck McCain for the sake of Americans don’t let that terrorist destroy our country!!!!!!!

John McCain might have made mistakes, but he has been honest about them. That is what is so important. Barack Obama, does not thing the American people have a right to know all! As an educated Harvard graduate, I find it hard to believe Senator Obama did not know Ayres was an American terrorist. This insults my intelligance. It is patronizing to all of us.

Governor Palin gave the election to Obama and Biden in the veep debate. Independents and other undecideds did not appreciate Palin’s constant evasion of questions. No one is listening to her ranting about Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright, which is old news; Palin can chew the cud any way she wants, but at the end of the day, it’s the same cud. It’s as if Palin and McCain are standing on the top of a tall building trying to spit on Obama down on the sidewalk, but the saliva keeps blowing back up in their faces. Palin and McCarthy, er, McCain already know the result of tonight’s debate: game, set, match: Obama!

I am an immigant naturlized citizen and love it, been independent all along and listen to issues, lately with all the issues that Obama with his association I am thinking of “Trojan Horse”. I love this country, and people risk their life to come to America, but sure don’t want radicals destroy it from within.

Sarah Palin is really doing a great job of exposing Barak Obama for what he is. Tonight is John McCain’s turn. America doesn’t need a corrupt, unproven, tax-raising liberal who runs with a questionable crowd. Palin and McCain haven’t even scratched the surface of Obama’s questionable sidekicks in Chicago. Obama is hiding more than his party wants you to know. I am confident it will all come out this month. Then people in the democratic party will know what they have.

Comment by Confidential416

The remarks of terrorism against Obama are the republicans believing that once again, their fear tactics will force the American people to vote their way. These accusations are desperate measures from desperate politicians… Have they scared you? The biggest fear should be McCain/Palin getting into office.

Comment by Braden Bellack

I am an average everyday American. I don’t think I am qualified to be president. I don’t know any other “people like me” that should be president or vice president. If you like Palin because she is “like me,” or “an average everyday american” please ask yourself if YOU should be VP. I have never understood why someone would want “joe six-pack” to be president or vice president. I want an elitist to be president. That means they are elite. You know what all the founding fathers and writers of the constitution had in common? They were all elitists.

Comment by rozforobama

Palin, Palin. You talk about Obama and Ayers - nothing there other than politeness and working together but … you rub shoulders with a man who joined (card carrying) the Alaska International Party!!!! Wait - you are married to him and you still smiled and winked at Todd and his radical party. You love the United States so much, you say, but your husband, your confidant, your partner belonged to a radical party which would love to part ways with the United States of America?? What are YOU HIDING Ms. Palin???

McCain is going to fix the economy? I thought he suspended his campaign and flew back to Washington and fixed the economy?

Comment by Winston Smith

I think she should give more generalities and less specifics. You betcha! Wink wink.

Oh, by the way, the fundamentals of the economy are sound. And government should just “get outta people’s way” once it’s finished giving $800 billion to Wall Street.

Comment by Yeoman Roman

Wow. Just what we need, a cheerleader for Vice President!

Palin has been promoted beyond her level of competence.

Since Reagan, Serving the GOP has been miscast as “Service to America.”
This election cycle continues that fallacy.

JOHN MCCAIN IS NOT BAPTIZED- THAT MEANS HE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN
In the midst of what looks to be a bruising campaign battle which will probably get very, very, nasty, I was reading the New Yorker of September 15, 2008, and re-discovered the “fact,” on page 56, that John McCain has never been baptized. Normally, I would gloss right over this “fact” but “the fact is” (how I hate that phrase) an un-baptized John is non-Christian (the person not the room). The basic qualification in all denominations is baptism, so how does John claim to be a Christian when by definition he is not? Where one might go with this flag-lapel pin type little tidbit I do not know, but when Barack’s religious credentials are challenged as often as they are on the internet it raises all kinds of interesting possibilities to distress John about his religious beliefs.

If John really supports good Christian values shouldn’t he be a “real Christian”? Is he afraid to proclaim Jesus is his savior, and be immersed in the Baptismal font of the Phoenix Baptist Church where he claims membership? Is he actually an agnostic or perhaps, perish the thought, an atheist? Is he afraid to tell us what he really believes? Is John, who lived 6 years in Viet Nam, actually a Buddhist? And, just think about poor Sarah! Here she is, a good saved Pentecostal, who is forced to associate with a non-Christian. I would think she might be worried about the condition of her soul after associating with someone who is so weak kneed that he is afraid to be baptized! She may need her witch doctor to do an exorcism!! Yes, John is a Maverick, a person who doesn’t have the strength of character to be either fish or fowl. He stands by himself! Not owning his non-Christian faith, and not proclaiming what he really believes.

Comment by Karolyn

Palin states that she and McCain believe in the same ideals of Reagan. Oh my gosh. His values were only for those with higher incomes. Those of us who had to live through the Reagan years know very well that he was not for the middle class. He talked a good line and was able to work the camera. His trickle down economics … yeah right. More like tinkle down economics. And what about the Iran/Contra situation…. arms being sold illegally. We have to give Palin the benefit of the doubt… she wasn’t old enough to experience the Reagan years!

Re: “tried to link Obama to 1960s radical Bill Ayers”.

Ayers isn’t a “1960s radical” he still espouses views that paint America as an imperialist country that promotes an evil and racist system.

Also, no ones “trying” to link Obama to Ayers - the links are there, out in the open. Obama worked with Ayer’s for years on the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, issuing grants to schools that supported Ayers’ radical educational philosophy - “the point of Ayers’ education theory is that the United States is a fundamentally racist and oppressive nation. Students, Ayers believes, ought to be encouraged to resist this oppression. Obama was funding Ayers’ “small schools” project, built around this philosophy.” (quote from Satnley Kurtz “NYT’s Ayers-Obama Whitewash” on National Review Online)

Comment by Nick

Preview: McCain struggles to look Obama in the eye, throws out tired rhetoric about Democrats as tax-and-spenders, attempts to get in a few good smears, ramps up the populist themes that have never represented his true economic beliefs, conceals his weak policies by attempting to tarnish Obama’s, tries like hell to keep his temper in check, and refers to everyone as his ‘friends’ like a hundred times. Yawn. Wake me up when Obama is President.

Comment by Joanne Filiatreau

Sarah spoke to the American people about the things that we care about today. She did an outstanding job of explaining where she and John McCain will take our country. That they will take names of the government officials that had a part in the economy crunch we are feeling today.

Comment by Rush

It is hypocritical to call out Obama’s campaign for its tendency to “look to the past” and then drop the Ayers link in the same speech. Can we learn from the past or not? But then there’s a lot about McCain and Palin that is hypocritical. Their desperation is getting worse and more obvious every day as they slip further in the polls.

Comment by john

Wait a second, at the convention they said they were Roosevelt republicans. So I guess that didn’t work so now they’re calling themselves Reagan republicans, which they certainly are not. I think maybe they should call themselves Clinton republicans because they referred to him at the convention in a positive light and as for one I would gladly go back to those terrible Clinton years.

Comment by Joanne Filiatreau

Sarah drove her message home. They will get in the White House and make needed changes. Take names and make changes and by doing so it will help our family budgets.

Why is it we hear the same things over and over again from Palin? Is it because that is all she knows or has been taught? She is beginning to sound like one of those shrill little dolls that just repeat the same things over and over again. After a while, kids tune out to what the doll is saying, and so it will be with Palin.

By the way, just so I am not acsued of being sexist, I could say the same thing about John McCain. But at least the John McCain doll has two modes: angry and angrier.

I have seen a lot of articles about race, tending to group white people together as prejudice when it comes to voting for the President in the Fall elections.
Could it be that most Amercians do not trust Obama?
Maybe it is his radical left wing ultra liberal policies mirroring socialism?
Possibly his wrong outline on world affairs?
Or his friends like Rezko, Wright, Ayers, and Farrakhan?
I think it could be his flip flopping on every major concept/idea to appeal to all voters when he chooses to.

Am I the only Republican who is embarrassed to hear Sarah Palin talk? She combines elements of both George W. Bush and Dan Quayle. Granted, she’s a poised and very attractive lady, but her folksy cuteness really doesn’t disguise the fact that she can’t construct a sentence. Winking and smiling is not a substitute for answering or discussing questions she is asked. Her confidence doesn’t mean much when you realize that her answers or statements are empty. What’s with her repeated declarations that she and John McCain are maverics? Do maverics label themselves? I’m fearful of Sarah Palin becoming the leader of our great nation. We’ve seriously lowered the bar in considering her qualified to be VP. Are we locked into this? Is there a way out?

It’s about time the Republicans started attacking the issues. The Dems got us into this financial mess by legislating loans for people who couldn’t afford them and now expect us to bail them out. So, McCain, put the blame where it belongs and then talk about the solutions, ending government waste, oversight on loans, reigning in taxes, etc. Go Team Go!!

Well…Acorn in the news today, I hope and pray McCain brings that fraud up tonight in the debates! Obama will do anything to win and he is anti-American. I hope during tonight’s debate, Obama is asked about this afiliations with Rev. Wright and Bill Ayes. THAT is Obama’s past.

Every bit as important was what Palin is saying is WHERE she is saying it. All these speeches are being given in strongholds that are strongly Republican (FLA panhandle, Orange Country CA, Nebraska) and are red meat attacks that appeal to partisans but are almost guaranteed to alienate Independents. The only way that McCain/Palin can pull out a win is to appeal to a broader range of voters yet instead they are narrowing the message to address the GOP base.

That isnt campaigning. Thats damage control.

I think they have given up on winning and are just trying to avoid a Democratic landslide.

Hey Alaska! We loved the Aerial Gunning of Wolves video! Yeah, I have been e-mailing Sarah Palin for nearly two years regarding this unsportsman trophy hunting issue.

Google Aerial Gunning of Wolves Sarah Palin and see what pops up. Because of this and her suing because the Polar Bear was listed as an endangered species, along with the fact that she is not experienced to run the country if McCain passes away… and the fact that she is knows nothing about the economy or other important issues… and the fact that she and Alaska charges victims for rape kits… are just a few of the many many reasons that I’m voting for Obama.

This is someone who has zero knowledge on world issues, cries sexism when asked tough questions, but wants to be the leader of the free world.

The United States of America - One Nation Under God. People we need to pray for this nation. We need to pray that this election will not be stolen by the massive voter fraud that is occuring in many states. We need to pray for God’s will to be done in all things but especially in this election. 2 Cronicles chapter 7 verse 14 says “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” We need healing. One candidate will bring it. I think the majority of us know who that is. I pray that we make the right choice.

Palin is pathetic… she’s a liar, acting as the “bull dog” for McCain and spreading nothing but negativity, inflaming hate and racism. She’s disgusting! As for claiming that Democrats “look to the past”, she and McCain have gone out of their way to “look to the past” and bring up the most ridiculous claims! It’s like listening to the whining kids in a school yard who no one wants to play with! Instead of being “presidential” and mature, the OLDEST person on the ticket is acting like a spoiled brat! The “McPain” ticket is a sorry sorry excuse!

So, on the one hand, she criticizes her opponents for looking into the past to assign blame, then in the next sentence, talks about actions that happened 40 years ago to try and assign the blame for those acts to Obama? Sounds hypocritical to me.

Saarah Palin is for John McCain what Spiro Agnew was for Richard Nixon. An attack dog with things in her past that will not become known until after she is in office. We would be better served if she would cooperate with the investigation as she had promised. If she were confidant she would be exonerated she would have cooperated. We know how this will turn out. The only question is when.

Comment by edwards

Well, he crashed 5 planes (talk a waste of taxpayer dollars!) and now his campaign is crashing. Watching McCain and Palin slinging mud looks sooo desperate. The problem for McCain/Palin is that time is running out and Obama/Biden are leading in nearly all the polls. On top of that, the Democrats have more money to spend. If you want to help the Republican ticket, buy the web domain SarahSixPack.com and generate some excitement (and cash) for America’s newest GOP star and for her visibly discouraged running mate.

OMG!!! :> Sarah Palin reminds me more of Ronald Reagan everytime I hear or read one of her speeches! She is the BEST weapon in McCain’s arsenal and should be used everyday!! Sarah should also question Obama’s Harvard transcripts…where are they? How was his Harvard education funded? Ask Obama how his democratic voters would react if McCain had served on the Boards and Committees with David Duke for several years? Or, if John McCain had helped organize David Duke followers, teaching them how to subvert elections? Sarah and John both need to hit Obama hard and often with the tough questions Obama has either refused to answer or just flat out lied about!

I just love how they keep mentioning Ronald Reagan and what would Ronald say or do!. Talk about distancing yourself from Bush!
I am wondering why the Obama campaign is not mentioning anything about the Palins’ ties to the Alaskan Independance Party. For all the talk about Barack and Michelle Obama’s patriotism, John McCain’s running mate was a member of a political party that liked the idea of seceding from the United States altogether. It’s the kind of idea that would have been more common in the 1850s.

Palin told us during the debate that McCain wants her to take the lead on energy.

Her energy ‘expertise’? Oil.

Her views on global warming? Clearly not convinced that it is man made.

How will someone with these ‘qualifications’ and perspective lead us to seek alternative energies and curb the coming crisis of climate change?

It is possible that climate change will have a greater impact on the world than our current economic disaster, and I believe that like John McCain’s economic policies, Palin’s energy policies will contribute to the disaster until it is too late.

DRILL, BABY, DRILL!

Sarah Palin is a national embarrasement - McCain shot himsef in the foot by choosing such an empty and inept running mate whose only merit is bringing smear and mud slinging into election politics…. She has no ideas, no intentions for healing or compromise, no offerings for dealing with Americas heavy problems.

John McCain, what have you done? Your statement about putting country first sounds so hollow.

Comment by Frank Shadley

1. I suggest that McCain/Palin assign someone to look at the real possibility that what we are witnessing in the market since the bail-out is a reaction to the increasing (according to the polls) possibility that Obama could be elected with his substantial increase in corporate gains tax that will destroy what is left of the American economy. Everybody talks about the potential affect—but nobody calculates/quantifies it. If this can be confirmed in a reliable way it would be a powerful election tool for McCain/Palin.

2. I suggest that McCain/Palin assign some one to to calculate the impact on the economyof the construction of 45 nuclear power plants and umpteen offshore oil drilling facilities (plus the natural gas pipeline from Alaska). The cost of each nuclear plant is a multi-billion dollar effort involving thousands of men to build it for at least 5 years. These are the parts that Obama is excluding from his energy plan.

Comment by rich

What is Sen “the economy is sound” McCain going to tell us about his understanding of economics and how he will fix it? He and his republican friends who have been in charge of policy for the last eight years are responsible for this problem and now they are going to leave the heavy lifting for the democrats. This is what happened after Bush I. Say goodbye to a republican majority in Congress for the next two-three decades. McCain and Palin can try to spin this, but the American people will not forget who led us into this mess.

Barack Obama is casting quite a few stones over today’s financial crisis. He blames deregulation (wrong) and greed (partly right). But if he wants to know how the current economic crisis unfolded, he might want to look instead at his own campaign team. Not only does it contain two former CEOs of Fannie Mae — the government-backed actor that caused most of today’s problems in the secondary mortgage market — but it also includes a banker whose strategy of aggressive subprime lending caused a bank to collapse, according to federal regulators.

Penny Pritzker was that banker, and she currently serves as Obama’s national finance chairwoman. She has been a supporter of Obama ever since the summer of 2002, when she first agreed to help finance his 2004 U.S. Senate campaign. She is also one of America’s wealthiest women, coming from the family that owns the Hyatt hotel chain. In her family, they don’t fight over the remote control. They fight over who took a billion dollars from whose trust fund — this was literally the subject of an intra-family lawsuit in 2002

Comment by Down Mexico Way

Pritzker was chairwoman of the board for her family’s bank, Superior Bank FSB, until 1994, when she became director of its holding company. In 1993, she had overseen the fateful decision to adopt a new business strategy of aggressive subprime lending. The bank would actually come in for some criticism for this on the Left — in 2000, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) sent a letter to federal bank regulators to alert them to Superior’s subprime lending practices, accusing the bank of poor risk management and of targeting minorities for subprime loans at a rate that far exceeded other financial institutions.

They were at least right about the poor risk management. But as Superior neared collapse in May 2001, Pritzker penned a letter promising to “once again restore Superior’s leadership position in subprime lending.” Superior’s collapse that July caused 1,400 people to part of their savings, and prompted a $750 million bailout by the FDIC. Such bailouts do not directly affect taxpayers, but they do ultimately create extra costs for all banks and bank customers.

The subprime strategy that Pritzker had endorsed was a major part of the problem leading to the bank’s insolvency, according to the federal Office of Thrift Supervision. As that government agency reported at the time:

What are their plans? Looks to me the strategy is to convince people not to vote for Obama rather than offering solutions for an economic crisis and ever increasing dangers in the world. No substance from their speeches. People are tired of the fear tactics used by Republicans. They are not working. McCain has a past too. And Palin is avoiding her problems in Alaska. They need to focus on the issues. They should not use distraction as a strategy. It makes them look weak and without answers. If they continue to get away from the issues at hand, they are dead in the water. Voters already went through the Obama smears with Clinton. It is old news. The voters decided for Obama vs Clinton. Unless McCain is still trying to convice Republicans, I just don’t get what they are trying to do.

I hope that tonight’s debate/town hall meeting final allows the public to disect both candidates’ positions and dtermine who promises and who delivers. It’s so close to election day that we should now discern who merely makes promises, and who actually is committed to (and capable of leading) change.

now that the truth has come out about Obama- ayres, it is so much easier to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Not only is he far left in his views, but seemingly espouses radical solutions, akka home terror attacks. It also now becomes clear about Miss Michelle’s comment. “i have never been proud to be an American.: I guess not if your evil radical views are suppressed by the mainstream. How dumb are the democrats to see a savior in Obama. It is truthfully a sad sight to behold, and even sadder that mainstream news is invoking their liberal agenda instead of reporting the whole truth. A sad time for America. Keating speaks directly to the bungled economic crisis today. The fact that McCain still has the architects of the S&L scandal as his economic advisors qualify the issue as “current”. If he didn’t still have them advising him, he could claim past. Unbelievable.

McCain does not have a good economic plan, “freeze everything” is not the answer but he can’t get more specific than that. He got dinged major yesterday for his campaign calling for $1 trillion in cuts for Medicare/Medicade (see Oct. 6th WSJ), showing us where his “freezes” are headed. Iraq is obviously off the table for him, but he’s already stated that nothing’s off the table on social security. Issuing blanket statements like “we’ll freeze spending” does not inspire confidence.

John McCain is the epitome of a politician selling his soul to win his party’s nomination. It is a shame what this election has done to a once honorable man. That his reputation is forever tarnished this close to the end of his career is an absolute shame. Greed infects us all differently, for some it’s money, others power. I think McCain would sell me out in a minute if it could increase his chance of getting elected. That is not the POW we hear so much about. The judgement he used in picking his campaign advisors and Palin were all I needed to see to know that his glory days are in the past.

On economic policy, from non-partisan FactCheck.org, see below:
McCain has promised that he will balance the budget by 2013. That’s unlikely. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center says that without serious spending cuts, McCain’s tax proposals will actually increase the size of the debt between $5.1 trillion and $7.4 trillion over the next 10 years. So balancing the budget would require cutting federal spending by 25 percent. McCain, however, has proposed very few specific spending cuts.

It’s certainly true that Obama’s proposed spending is higher than his projected revenues, and Obama has made no secret of the fact that his plan will not result in balanced budgets for the next four years. According to the Tax Policy Center, without spending cuts elsewhere, Obama’s proposals could lead to between $3.6 trillion and $5.9 trillion in new debt over 10 years.

The campaign may get rough but McCain-Palin with come out on the short end of the deal. They can’t run rough shod of Obama and think he will take it.
