Palin: The Campaign “May Get Kind of Rough Here”

ESTERO, FLA –-

Appearing with Florida Governor Charlie Crist and Senator Mel Martinez, Sarah Palin greeted a crowd of over 8,000 enthusiastic supporters at an arena here who roared with support when she walked on stage and cheered at every jab she made at the Democratic ticket.

The Alaska governor previewed what the next month of the campaign will be like predicting that the race will get dirty as November 4th approaches, “You know from now until Election Day hang on to your hats because you know it may get kind of rough here in terms of campaigns having to step up and kind of take the gloves off and start telling the truth about what a candidate stands for,” Palin said.

She got a laugh when she said she would do her “best to keep giving material to Tina Fey to keep her in business.”

Palin also repeated her line of attack attempting to link Obama to 1960’s radical William Ayers, but taking it a step further accusing Obama of knowing about Ayers’ connections to the Weather Underground terrorist activities and questioning his judgment:

“Today they’re saying for the first time that Barack Obama didn’t know back then about Ayers’s radical background. But it was only a few months ago that Barack was saying Ayers was just a ‘guy in my neighborhood. But, wait a minute,” Palin said. “He didn’t know a few months ago that he had launched his political career in the living room of a domestic terrorist?”

The Obama campaign has denied Palin’s assertion that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship.

I must express my disgust at your over the top bias against Obama and Biden. I used to watch fox all day as I am retired, but spreading hate, bigitory, enuindos,SPIN, lies, and smear tactics will do none of us much good. We’re all in this togather, and to quote Rodney King “why can’t we all get along” ? I am a moderate who would like to see the pendilum stop in the middle, because it’s best for the country. But man is this a nasty one, very polarizing. A famous person[J.C.] and no thats not some rapper, said “that a house divided cannot stand”. We don’t have to compromise our principles or beliefs, but it does seem that we can be reasonable and civil.
Thanks and best wishes thru these troubled times. Lyle in OR

Wasn’t Todd Palin a member of a a separatist group from Alaska? Ms Palin is been investigated for abused of powers , although the McCain campaign is doing what they can to stop it. Isn’t this important to the American people? I wonder…

It is understandable, America knows John McCain weel, as a hero. But, who is Barack H. Obama? The voters deserve to know all about Obama, his past, present and achievements, if there are any, and McCain and Palin are doing us a favor. One thing for sure, Obama is trying to avoid the issue of national security against terrorism, in a post 9/11 world. Is Obama really capable of being a commander-in-chief, or simply saying and promising anything to get votes?

Comment by Stephanie

It is about time we have someone that is not afraid to say it like it is. We need to do everything there is to keep Obama out of office. I have heard several people saying that they are not going to vote. If you do not vote then this just puts Obama closer to the White House. Even if you do not like McCain, Vote for him…..we have to keep a Muslum out of office. We are finding out what kind of lies he has stated, but He wants us to believe he is not involved with the Muslums, it just is not true. He is very much involved!!!!!!!! People, WAKE UP, do you not remember 9/11.

Keep in mind, it takes 7 years to see the effect of the last president and needless to say, we are just now seeing the effects of what Bill Clinton did to us by signing NAFTA.

It’s about time. Palin is doing the job that McCain brought her on the ticket for. I wish they would have done this in Sept. Obama is hiding things, the American people should be able to know. He is a radical, he is tied with radicals, and his retoric, I will give you this and that is nothing but hogwash. He can’t give you something for nothing. The middle class people will pay. Obama is laughing every evening when he goes to bed. He thinks he has everybody fooled. He has made his money, and by the time he is done with the presidency he will have more of our money. Now his wife can say “for the first time ever, I’m glad to be an American”

This poor woman is so stupid that she doesn’t even have a clue how she makes herself appear to the country. Most people are laughing at her. The ones at her campaigns are probably going just to mock her. They’ve probably had to bribe people to go. The ones that truly like her are also the type of people that have put this country in the mess it is in. I feel so sorry for Alaskans. I’ll bet they don’t even want her back in four weeks. Maybe they will try to unseat her governorship.

Palin needs to be careful, she is treading on thin water with the personal attacks that she does not know for sure. It is good that the other canidate has elected not to smear the character of others. What about McCain leaving his former wife and children after she was disfigured in an accident and started running with Cindy. Married her 1 month after the divorce. What about a mother (Palin) who has a 17 year old unwed pregnant daughter, does this mean that Palin was a mother who did not take care of her children and just let them run wild. How could a mother put her daughter in the scrutiny of the public and how can she devote her time away from a special needs child to be on the campaigne trail. She is not a person that I would want to see as vice president of the United States of America. I am happy that my senses tell me that I don’t vote for a canidate for any special interest group. I would not vote for Obama bercause he is a Black man, but I would vote for a Black man who is qualified, nor would I vote for a woman just because she is a woman.

Palin is a loose cannon. She frightens me.

Sarah Palin is an exquisite speaker with her straight-forward, nothing to hide discourse. She is hitting the nail on the head and my friends, family and I are sooo happy that she has the GUTS and good American qualities to challenge the character of this obama person. He would NEVER be able to get all of our great folks on the same page in this country and would create a national disaster all by himself with the help of his OBVIOUSLY unattractive, un-American wife. Our only hope is McCain at the helm and Palin by his side. I have personally seen to it that all of my friends, family and former co-workers will not vote for obama.

Are Sarah and Todd still out of jail? She is a below average potty mouth republican who is about to be sent back to where ever she came from. She is the irrational, but loud, fimdamentalist person next door and just about the last person anyone would consider for VP.

finally, someone has brought out these critical affiliations, the media does not have the guts, of course Obama has had a starship relationship with most of the media. I am angry at the media in general for how they treated women, Hillary, CNN MSNBC to name a few. I just wont watch them anymore, they are now attacking Governor Palin as they attacked Hillary, along with the Obama campaign. So I am glad that the heat has been stepped up in a legitamate way by the campaign itself.

Glad to see that the New York Times finally gave us one unbiased article, probably due to the complaints that they received, no one wants to read a one sided news paper. This charade by the media and the obama surrogates and campaign has been nothing but discrimation towards women in general.

JOHN MCCAIN IS NOT BAPTIZED- THAT MEANS HE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN
In the midst of what looks to be a bruising campaign battle which will probably get very, very, nasty, I was reading the New Yorker of September 15, 2008, and re-discovered the “fact,” on page 56, that John McCain has never been baptized. Normally, I would gloss right over this “fact” but “the fact is” (how I hate that phrase) an un-baptized John is non-Christian (the person not the room). The basic qualification in all denominations is baptism, so how does John claim to be a Christian when by definition he is not? Where one might go with this flag-lapel pin type little tidbit I do not know, but when Barack’s religious credentials are challenged as often as they are on the internet it raises all kinds of interesting possibilities to distress John about his religious beliefs.

If John really supports good Christian values shouldn’t he be a “real Christian”? Is he afraid to proclaim Jesus is his savior, and be immersed in the Baptismal font of the Phoenix Baptist Church where he claims membership? Is he actually an agnostic or perhaps, perish the thought, an atheist? Is he afraid to tell us what he really believes? Is John, who lived 6 years in Viet Nam, actually a Buddhist? And, just think about poor Sarah! Here she is, a good saved Pentecostal, who is forced to associate with a non-Christian. I would think she might be worried about the condition of her soul after associating with someone who is so weak kneed that he is afraid to be baptized! She may need her witch doctor to do an exorcism!! Yes, John is a Maverick, a person who doesn’t have the strength of character to be either fish or fowl. He stands by himself! Not owning his non-Christian faith, and not proclaiming what he really believes.

i sure hope it gets ugly. obama needs to drag ms. snake-oil palin thru the mud with all they have on her. she is an evil power hungry woman that is not only trying to hurt obama but she is stepping all over mccain. she is dangerous and her own background supports this. troopergate, her own reverend witch doctor, her mis-use of power in firing capible people and hiring her personal friends to surround her at huge salaries. she has no conception of how our country is run and thinks she can make up rules to suit herself as she goes along.yes this woman is a threat to both dems and repubs and must be stopped. our country deserves better than this.

People who live in glass house should not throw stones. Miss Palin herself is under investigation.Voters think she is dumb and vindictive and is sick of the negativity she brought from alaska. McCain wreaks of desperation with these new attacks. His campaign has been poorly managed from the start vs. Obama. The time for those types of attacks (Aires, Wright) would be at the beginning when Obama was trying to introduce and define himself and not now with only weeks to go. Not only did McCain not attack early on he critisized his own party when they ran Rev. Wright ads. Now he is trying to do what he had condemed earlier but it is too little.. too late… With all of
this flipping, flopping, and flailing I am more concerend with who the real John McCain is than who is the real Barack Obama :) .

We need to get off the mud slinging and back to the issues and put this country first! Hey, that sounds like a nice campaign slogan..

Comment by mike

Wow. Well, McCain works with Sen. Larry Craig. Sen. Larry Craig was arrested and convicted of soliciting sex in the bathroom of a Minneapolis airport. Therefore, Sen. McCain supports the rights of individuals to proposition others for sex in bathrooms of airports nationwide.

Do you see the link? The McCain campaign is on the wrong track and the fact that it believes this will work tells me a lot about the individuals working on his staff.

I used to be undecided.

William F Buckley must be spinning in his grave. The Republican party is falling apart at the seams, as common sense conservatives find it virtually impossible to accept McCain’s VP choice. November 4th will signal the end of the conservative era. The unholy alliance between the GOP and religious extremists has forced moderates into the democratic party, and will result in not only a landslide Obama / Biden victory, but Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress. The nightmare is nearly over.

Obama never cunsulted or did not even know Mr. Ayres background, despite he went to his house ? Obama’s did not even know the background, spite Mrs. Ayres working in the same law firm as Michelle ? Wonder what Mr. Obama said when Mrs. Michelle Obama asked if he could be on a panel discussion and Mr. Ayres showed up. “Ayres , Who are you ?”
Wonder what Mr. Obama said when he took the chairman position at the Annenberg challange and mr. Ayres (the founder of the Annenberg Challange) showed up , meeting after meeting, year after year and and was listed in their report as , ‘co-founder’ . Again, mr. Ayres , who are you “? Wonder what Mr. Obama said when he walked into the Wood fund and found that same Mr. Ayres there too “Mr. Ayres, who REALLY ARE YOU ?
But then again as a junior politician in Chicago Mr. Obama maybe felt he had no right to ask who he was working with, month after month, year after year . is there ?

From Wikipedia regarding Ayers: They have two adult children and shared legal guardianship of a third child, Chesa Boudin. Chesa, the child of Kathy Boudin and DAvid Gilbert was raised to adulthood while his parents were improsined for the Brinks Robbery.”

I keep hearing from the media that Obama’s campaign is stating that Ayers and Obama’s children went to school together? Since Ayers children are adults, I find that not likely. Of course, it could be the grandchildren, but you’d think that Senator Obama’s campaign would be clear on that since they wouldn’t be accused of just of fabricating information.

PLEASE GET IT RIGHT! Ayers stomps on the American flag and does not salute it - he believes in a World Flag - that’s why Obama didn’t salute the American flag, he subscribes to Ayers World Flag allegiance!!!

This has been discussed ad nauseum and it’s quite clear that McCain wants to chnage the subject away from the issues facing America to the issues facing his candidacy. What happened to the McCain of the primaries and of 2000? Long gone, never to be seen again, gobbled up by his need to please his father no matter what the cost.

Ayers fire bombed the front and back doors of a private family home where children were sleeping upstairs. He and his wife are still proud of that. It wasn’t just a few buildings.
Ayers took millions of taxpayer $$ marked for education and gave it to his aide Obama, who over 4 years gave 60 million per year to RADICAL community projects, not math and science. Not one of these programs was successful and the $$ fell into questionable hands. These communities are not better off today.
Obama and Ayers worked hand in hand for years.
READ THE ANNENBERG PAPERS. Google it. Did anyone see the picture of Ayers stomping on the American flag in Chicago magazine? LAST YEAR.
Obama kicked off his political career at a party in Ayers home. Obama has received and kept contributions from Ayers. Obama was married by, had his kids baptized by, sat in the pews and listened to Wrights’ sermons for 20 years and said Wright is his spiritual advisor. Read up on Rezko’s association with the Obama’s. This guy is desperately trying to stay out of jail right now.
You are who your friends are.

Calling a candidate a terrorist is inciting violence against that person. There are racial undertones in the way Palin speaks and there is no credibility to what she is saying.

Repubicans are running a dirty campaign and playing a ‘dangerous’ game. It’s all they can do though because the focus is on the economy and McCain doesn’t have any ideas about how to fix that. Obama is sticking to the issues while having to defend himself against name calling and mud slinging.

We hear constituants at their rallies that suggest there are actually people out there that that will believe a presidential candidate really is a terrorist and that is just sick.

They can’t win and the dirtier they get the lower in the polls they go. As someone said on another news network, ‘the race is getting close and it’s going to become and knife fight in a phone booth.’
If this continues, it won’t matter. Obama will be the one to come out without any holes in him.

Palin is stupid. Palin lies. Palin is trying to incite violence. She’s an embarrassment to women everywhere. She and McCain should be ashamed at the horrid campaign they are running. What about the Fact that Palin, Recently, attended an Alaskan Indapendent Party meeting and told them to “Keep up the good work”? The AIP are the ones that wanted to separate from the US not to long ago. Her husband is a member. Oh, let me guess. She isn’t a member, so we should not mention it. She wants to use the notion of Guilt by Association, a practice that has been PROVEN to have NO merit. But when it is pointed out that she has had ties to people involved in Treasonist activities, she wants us to turn our heads. How about we talk more about how she is breaking the law every day by not participating in a legal investigation of her misuse of power?

[...] Palin said yesterday that the campaign may get a little “rough” as we get closer to Election Day – It was clear today that we are 28 days away from November 4th. [...]

When will Ms. Palin provide some answers to the nation’s problems? A campaign based on name-calling and innuendo is morally bankrupt. There is no indication in any of Obama’s life that he actually supports Ayers’ positions from the 60s. In fact, there is no decent evidence that Ayers supports the violent positions of the 60s.

God she is pathetic. As usual, she has no knowledge of issues, so she resorts to this cheap kind of attack. Her own husband, (and maybe Palin herself) is an anti-American extremist. She and her disgraceful running mate need to start talking about what they might do for the country rather than who Obama did or didn’t (emphasis on “didn’t”) pal around with. Repubs love this stuff because it makes them feel better than the Democrats (well, after all, God only loves Americans and only Republicans in that group anyway)

It was irritating to witness CNN, MSNBC, and FOX run a ridiculous amount of live coverage, this morning, of Sarah Palin’s Betty Boop, rah, rah, rah, session in Florida while material of real substance and relevance was being ignored. I became so disgusted that I logged on to CNN Live and tuned into the bailout hearings. There are a number of us who desire “real” news and would like to process the information regarding the economic crisis and the bailout. Whether it’s a politician encouraged, by a lobbyist, to look the other way, a Wall Street executive fattening his, her, or someone else’s pocket, or a local mortgage lender praying on an innocent, uneducated, or unsavvy borrower, it is imperative that sincere and concrete measures are taken to rid the financial system of the parameters responsible for the crisis and, wherever possible, to prosecute criminal activity. It is becoming apparent that the greed of our culture has created a morally bankrupt system that has destroyed the confidence of Middle America: the backbone of this economy. With confidence lost, and the realities of overspending and over lending hitting home, there is no doubt where this economy is headed in the next few years. So, instead of viewing the “fluff” of Gov. Palin’s pep-rallies, I would appreciate viewing matters of substance and relevance such as the markets, the hearings, and any worthwhile solutions our leaders are considering to lessen the blow that far too many Americans are receiving and will continue to receive.

A. Obama was 8 years old when Ayers was a member of the Weathermen.
B. Obama was never close to Ayers, they were acquaintences who served on a REPUBLICAN board together for inner-city youth.
C. Does the McCain/Palin ticket REALLY want to draw attention to the candidates’ questionable associations? In which case, let’s take another look at McCain’s association with Charles Keating, his membership on a board that condoned Racism and Anti-Semitism, and Palin’s association with a movement that advocates Alaska Independence and whose leader said that he hates America?

Comment by Steve in AR

Clearly, Palin is to be the pit bull in lipstick for this campaign. Having figured out that being a “war hero” and a bogus “maverick” isn’t enough to win this election, the McCain campaign is moving into fulltime mudslinging mode. Incredibly, his campaign has stated that they “would like to move past the issue of the economy”, even thought the economy is obviously the ultimate concern with the voters. Palin is hitting the “domestic terrorist” thing hard, trying to trump up the thinnest of relationships between Obama and Ayers. But, just this year, Palin recorded a video welcoming the attendees to the annual convention of the Alaskan Independence Party, of which her husband was a member. One of their primary goals is to see Alaska secede from the union. Last I heard, that’s treason. So before Sarah starts castigating somebody for who they are “palling around with”, perhaps she should worry about who she’s been palling around with.

It makes me ill that the media has given Obama a free ride…What about Rev. Wright………What happened to that???????? The other guy he was buds with????? Now Ayers???? Where is the media?? If they spent as much time on Obama as Palin maybe people would know what type of person he really is and not want him for president. For the last 40 years I have normally voted for a democrat, however this year I have converted to Rebublicaism………………If there is such a word…… And will probally stay one, because the democrats have really disappointed me this past year………..

I would like to know why Fox News seems to be lifting Governor Palin up. When you do not call her out on the way she attempts to link Senator Obama with Bill Ayers but say that the Obama camp is not afraid to get their hands DIRTY. To me this subtly sends a message that Senator Obama is not playing fair but Governor Palin is. Why is Fox News not going after the Governor’s husband for wanting Alaska to break away from the Union. How can he and his wife be viewed as patriots and being deserving to end up in the white house, but Senator Obama is not. Equal time to both camps for undesirable associations. PLEASE!
