Palin on Obama’s Former Rev: “I don’t know why that association isn’t discussed more.”

****UPDATE****

Kristol will appear on FOX at 1120 EDT to discuss his Palin intv.

SHP tells FNC contributor Bill Kristol that Obama’s association with his controversial former pastor Jeremiah Wright “says something about character”, and should be ” discussed more”.

Kristol writes in his NYT op-ed:

I pointed out that Obama surely had a closer connection to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright than to Ayers — and so, I asked, if Ayers is a legitimate issue, what about Reverend Wright?

She didn’t hesitate: “To tell you the truth, Bill, I don’t know why that association isn’t discussed more, because those were appalling things that that pastor had said about our great country, and to have sat in the pews for 20 years and listened to that — with, I don’t know, a sense of condoning it, I guess, because he didn’t get up and leave — to me, that does say something about character. But, you know, I guess that would be a John McCain call on whether he wants to bring that up.”

Why isn’t Sarah Palin’s association with her hateful pastor discussed more? Why isn’t Trooper-gate discussed more? Love to see you guys cover those topics.

i so hope mccain tries to bring up reverend wright in this race. the public is waiting to bash ms. palins preacher with her beliefs. please bring it up so that we can hear more about how her preacher prays gays to become straight, prays out witches, talks in tongues and preaches that we will see the second coming soon and alaska is the chosen place for all to be saved in the rapture.
palin is a sick person as well as evil with a heart as cold as ice. mccain knows he can not bring religion into this race because of palin and his own way of life in his past. mccain is a two-timer that left his first wife after her accident for his rich plastic barbie doll. he has disowned his first children and his barbie doll cindy has disowned her own sister for the sake of money and power.
come on mccain make our day …bring it up, i would like to hear what ms. palin has to say for herself on those charges!

I have an answer governor palin. The liberal media don’t want obama to be affected by that. they will brush it off. but the people of this country will not buy it they are learning who obama is .so far: I learn that his wife hates America is pastor of 20 years hates America the people who he associates whit hates America . And obama? Well lets say the people that you are around most of the time tells me who you are.

Why dont we ask if John McCainif he cohearsed with North Vietnam when he was a POW and is that why he enbraced the North Vietnam General in hearings in Washington DC in 1993 Or is it a person he new there How many bad people did John know that he may have been in the same place doing the same thing Barack did. Come on here what kind of deal is this .I turn Palin off when she opens her mouth I am more concern about the stock market than who knew who and when

Comment by Terri V

I would like to hear more about all of Obama’s past. I don’t know why people think he will have a Presidency that is accountable and transparent when he won’t even account for several years of his own life. If he has nothing to hide, tell us. Where is your college thesis Mr. Obama? What were you doing in the years that there is no record of what you were doing?

Comment by Reality

Why not?

Any person who has observed at the same place for 20 years, regardless of religion, knows that every facet of a person is deeply influenced by the place where and people with whom they observe their faith.

How can we condone a 21st century president indoctrinated in the beliefs of hatred and inherent racial inequality?

This is America.

Comment by Anna F

Rev. Wright is a disgrace to the title he holds. Not a man of God, but a man who misrepresents God and everything God and His people hold dear.
And for anyone to sit and listen quietly for twenty years, and then say “I didn’t know” either that person lies or has agreed for twenty years. Which is it?

Sarah Palin needs to stop, her husband was with a group Alaska first which wants to succeede Alaska from the USA.

Check it out for your self:http://www.jedreport.com/2008/09/john-mccains-alaska-first-prob.html

Any time your Pastor is not giving a sermon on the Bible and nothing but the Bible. It’s time to leave and find another church.
This Pastor Wright is not a preacher. No good preacher in this country that is a Christian would not be giving sermons about hate such as this Mr Wright was doing.
And for Obama to be sitting in the pew for that many yrs. His views have to be a little anti-American.
and shame on him for not standing up to his Pastor and saying what he was preaching was wrong.

This is old news. Does Palin not realize that we “Americans” want to hear their PLAN OF ACTION - with 29 days left, she should Stop being so rude and get on with the talking points. And where is McCain - oh, yes practicing for his big debate. They both needed extra practice for that I guess. Oh, the republicans are stating she has 12 years of experience - then she should be delivering the talking points and plan of action for her party. She just keeps opening up that mouth and more and more people, like me sitting on the fence are moving BLUE. I just can not allow her or McCain to represent me. I am no JOE SIX Pack american. How insulting for hard workers of America. I’ve had enough.

Comment by REG in Az

Now you may like Sarah Palin’s personality, find her good looking, a real ‘cutesy’ and even agree with a few of her views but there can be no denying that she is extreme, bazaar and, most importantly, totally unqualified and just aggressively trying to disguise her inexperience and simply push a bold and belligerent presentation to manipulate public opinion. Her whole purpose is apparent as an ‘attack dog’ as she boldly criticizes with exaggerated and mostly irrelevant accusations while totally avoiding the real issues. Being a ‘hockey mom’ and a ‘pit bull with lipstick’ may make her interesting but it sure doesn’t qualify her to be vice-president or, most totally not, to be president. That should then be completely scary, yet many still rationalize that she is acceptable. It isn’t as if she is applying to be a next-door neighbor and come over for a barbecue, she wants to help and maybe even individually run the country. The real truth should be apparent to anyone that is willing to check their emotional ties, prejudices and biases, including their political affiliations, that we simply can’t withstand any further focus on Special Interests and a select few, that we can’t survive continuing with the same philosophies, that whether poor or middle class or upper middle class we are currently loosing substantially, and we desperately need real change (not just someone who claims to be a ‘Maverick’ but actually never did more than just adjust in his own best interests). If too many of us are sold on ignoring the facts, the truth, on accepting the subterfuge offered, we may just end up with more of the same, with literally continuing in the same direction we are currently going. This country can’t take that, this country desperately needs real, drastic and honest change! And really, common sense dictates that those who have taken us to where we are today should be prosecuted and not congratulated by electing others who supported them.

Comment by Wilson, GA

Those issues have already been discussed. That’s one of the drawbacks in comin ginto the race so late as a last attempt to boost ratings. Please stop trying to move the political spotlight to less important issues. We already know Palin doesn’t have knowledge about the real meat of the country, so it seems “safe” to bring up the old gossip.

Comment by Justin

By her logic she herself condones the creator of ‘Jews for Jesus’ who spoke at her church while she was in attendance because she didn’t get up and leave. You know, the same founder that has said on multiple occasions that the reason for the holocaust, the violence in Israel, and Jewish persecution throughout history was because God was punishing the Jewish people for not accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Comment by charlie

She should be careful here, there has been no association between Ayers and Obama for over 2 years and before then it was because they both worked to elevate the status of the schools. When Ayers was a radical in the 60’s and 70’s Obama was 8 years old, unlike McCain who was 50 a Senator when he took money from Keating.

Comment by TKW

I know Palin doesn’t want to start the Pastor association. Remember her pastor? The witch hunter!

Comment by NoMcCain

If Palin wants to bring up relationships with pastors maybe we should talk about her relationship with her witch hunting pastor. We should also talk about her church that once said that Alaska should be it’s own country.

Comment by Helix

I guess it would be good to bring up Rev Wright as long we can put it alongside Gov Palin’s witchdoctor of a Rev alongside Rev Wright. At least Rev Wright serve this faithfully in the Marine Corps.

Comment by Vickie Lynn

I wish Palin would talk about ACORN and Obama. I wish Palin would talk about Rashid Khalidi.

Why is the backgroung of Senator Obama off limits? Why do we not hear anything about the white side of his family? How did he pay for his college, student loans? Afirmative action grants? Did we ever hear anything about where he was raised? I think we know more about Sarah Palin’s children the Senator Obama.

Comment by educated Ron

Its not discussed more because John McCain publicly said he doesn’t want to run that type of campaign publicly and in an official capacity.

For him to discuss it now would just show he is a liar. For Pallin to say this and I believe its from her heart, didn’t realize that the top of the ticket’s word is on the line when it comes to Wright.

She also didn’t know they were pulling out of Michigan until the next morning when she read the news.

This is what is happening and this is not partisan.

John Mccain’s camp gives Pallin little if any respect, they don’t ask her for her campaign opinion and she is out of the loop.

She wants to not give up on Michigan and should have been asked her opinion before they officially left.

They should also let her know what MCain has said in regards to Wright. her discussing it is putting the top of the tickets Honor and word on the line.

Republicans should let her go free and let her do anything she wants unless McCain specifically says not to. She is the 2nd leader of that campaign and those Bush advisors are giving her ancient republican advice that it not going to work in this climate.

Let her go free, keep her in all the important discussions and let her be able to say no.

Comment by Daniel

You’re going to lose, let it go. The public doesn’t want to hear your stupid smears. Everyone knows about Ayers and Wright, bringing it up again is only going to hurt you.

The 8 years of Republicanism are over, and everybody knows it.

Comment by jay

So let me understand this, its NOT ok to look back over the last 8 years at McCains associations with the currant administration, which seems pretty relavent, but it is ok to look back 15-20 years at associations of two people belonging to the same committee on housing and devlopment. Also, John McCain said past associations with former pastures have been discussed and should be off limits. Seems not only hypocritical , but also VERY DESPERATE. Seems dignity in campaigning for Mr. McCain only applies when your winning.

Comment by Robin

It is about time Obamas radical history is discussed, it is a long and lengthy history involving many radical movements and leaders. I could just picture my husband saying to me lets go to the Ayers for dinner I would think he has gone nuts. I dont think it is common practice for most of us to have dinner with terrorists. I also cant imagine sitting in a pew at church listening to my Pastor say “God damm America” It would have taken me one minute to get up and leave, not 20 years. My Mom used to say to me and I say it to my kids Birds of a feather flock together. You are judged by the friends you keep and chances are if your friends are doing it so are you. America wake up the history of radicalism has been a major part of Obamas life. This is an important issue that needs to be brought forth to the American people.

There seems to be alot of things Senator Obama doesn’t like talking about, from the report I saw on Foxs News late last night. From his Harvard days and associates to who paid for his schooling at Harvard? Everything seems to be off limits. What is he hiding? Wright is another big thing to question. I fully agree with Governor Palin. To sit in a church for 20 years, he must certainly agree with those views. Which is very scary and the American people need to sit up and take notice of all of his past associations.

Comment by Jules

Palin is a idiot! She should be at home with her baby! This woman is using the last smear tactic that the McCain campaign can muster. Jeremiah Wright should not even be an issue in this campaign. Romney was a Morman, you should hear the ridiculousness they speak! As a republican, I am horrified of this Alaskan, moose hunting, Hockey-mom. John McCain did his party a disservice by selecting her.

Per a Japanese proverb:

“When the character of a man is not clear to you, look at his friends.”

Seems like for someone we know so little about, the only way we can really know Barack Obama with so little information available is to look at the company he keeps.

An adage from Founding Father Benjamin Franklin:

“He that lies down with dogs, shall rise up with fleas.”

There’s no way that Obama could not have been affected by the associations with these men and women of questionable character and moral fortitude, no matter how “insignificant” he claims those associations to be.

The more that becomes available about this man, the more I begin to think it is not a matter of the media to investigate this past, but a duty of the FBI, NSA, and CIA — we’re talking about a candidate for president of the United States!

Comment by Linda

Obama is a politician, not a patriot, and neither is his wife. Let’s not forget, she said the only time she has ever been proud of America is when Obama won the Democratic nomination. I’m not willing to gamble my future and that of my children with any one who doesn’t love America as much as I do…and as much as John McCain does! The economy can’t be ‘fixed’ by one man but the judgment of one man when it comes to national security is vital.

Comment by JD Colorado

Why is it that we know, little or nothing about Senator Obam’s white family? Where did he get his money for his college? A lot of people have dreamed about a law degree from Harvard but few can afford it. Did he get student loans? Did some one support him through Harvard and undergraduate programs if so, who. He seems to have just appeared on the national stage overnight. We seem to have had more media coverage about Sarah Palins pregnant daughter than about Senator Obams background.

Whoever screens this comment atleast take time to listen to the message the Lord Jesus Christ gave me a week ago concerning Barack Obama and John McCain. Souls are at stake. God still communicates to man through man.

Of all the people to talk about the past, “Say it ain’t so Joe” “Don’t talk about the past” Palin and her partner in crime McCain live in an awfully BIG GLASS HOUSE. Let’s see Palin’s Troopergate, her husband wanting Alaska to separate from the USA, her incredibly scary Witchcraft video (who if another canidate had that in their past would be totally decimated), McCain’s Keating Five, Joe Bonano, and his ever present devotion to deregulation that has brought this country to the brink of depression. Yes, they are so desparate that they will yammer on and on about anything but the crucial issues that are facing our country. Shame on them!!

Come on people get real. There are many people who are part of others lives and in all honestly you don’t truly know them no matter how many years you know them.

Sometimes you think you know someone but you truly don’t. It is just like Sarah Palin people don’t truly know her what we do know is not a comforting thing at all it is a cause for one to be seriously worried.

Comment by Anita from Portland, Or

Then perhaps she can explain her pastor tape. Obama was a member of the church. She had the pastor lay hands on her and remove the witches etc out of her.

I think her problem is real and she participated in the religious exorcism. She cannot say she was not there. She was not only there but was falling into the arms of this pastor. Obama did not want to bring that up again but it seems she wants everyone to know her unusual religious choices.

The problem they try to pin on Obams is Pastor Wright’s problem not Obamas.

Comment by RA Crouch

Does this mean we get to discuss Palin’s association with the Alaskan Secessionists Group and how they curse America, our government, and our flag? How Palin husband was an active member of this group. How Sarah herself attended at least one meeting.

Comment by Sandra

The news is not reporting on it because it is Obama. If McCain had said the commits the Rev Wright had said he would be crucified. Due to Obama having the media in his pocket, we have heard very little. The only media that has tried at all to be fair is FOX. But the truth will come out and people will be amazed at how scandalous it will be. Obama is not what people think

Comment by julie

Palin learns her lines well. Too bad they don’t talk about their plans. listen, She starts out saying they are going to change America then spend thewhole time telling the same lies that were disputed in the debate, fact-check and in discussions. Do they think no one heard any of that? Are the Republican rallies that stupid? I hope not.

Comment by francis fye

I,m sure you won,t read my comment but who else but Sara Palin should question Obama,s character and past associations? Especially since the extent that the Obama campaign wentthrough questioning her past.

Comment by Catherine NYC

Thank goodness someone has finally realized that this is an outrage that no one else would have been able to sweep away. It is not OK to have been mentored by this radical racist reverend and become the next President of this great country. What happened here that we even consider this man as a contender?
Somehow, someway, someone (MSM) was able to keep all of Obama’s associations out of the spotlight.

Comment by mike

Could you please explain article headline like the one copied below. I have seen a lot of articles about race, tending to group white people together as prejudice when it comes to voting for the President in the Fall elections. Could it be that most Amercians do not trust Obama? Maybe it is his left wing ultra liberal policies? Possibly his wrong outline on world affairs? Or his friends like Rezko, Wright, Ayers, and Farrakhan? I think it could be his flip flopping on every major concept/idea to appeal to all voters when he chooses to.

She has a really good point. If Obama does not have the judgement and willingness to stand up and leave a church where the pastor preaches, he isn’t going to have backbone to lead and make decisions on other issues like the economy. Palin is right on target!

The charges against Ayers were dropped. Obama’s dealings with him were positive dealings to better their community.. what’s everyone supposed to do a backround check on everyone they meet? ..in a positive environment no less.

Keating was convicted of felony fraud, racketeering, and conspiracy, and he did jail time and spent significant amount of time with McCain…in fact McCain was with him every step of the way of course McCain knew what was going on. Robbing people of their life savings… real nice and Maveriky.

So who was consciously up to no good here? You figure it out.
