McCain goes for Obama jugular

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — In an unbridled attack Monday, John McCain struck Obama on a number of fronts as he sought to characterize his rival as a risky, unqualified candidate who has been deceptive about his experience and background.

The GOP nominee summarized the theme with one question. “Who is the real Barack Obama?” he asked supporters before attempting to answer the question himself.

“I didn’t just show up out of nowhere, after all America knows me,” McCain said to a rowdy crowd of about 500 attendees on a college campus here. “Even at this late hour in the campaign, there are essential things we don’t know about Senator Obama or the record that he brings to this campaign.”

McCain went on to raise doubts about Obama’s candor and ability–attacking potentially shady sources of campaign dollars, the Democrat’s lack of action in response to the recent finance crisis and what McCain says is Obama’s partial blame for the mortgage mess, among other issues.

“Rather than answer his critics, Senator Obama will try to distract you from noticing that he never answers the serious and legitimate questions he has been asked. But let me reply in the plainest terms that I know. I don’t need lessons about telling the truth to American people. And were I ever to need any improvement in that regard, I probably wouldn’t seek advice from a Chicago politician,” McCain said to cheers, noting that when one asks questions about Obama’s record, “all you get in response is another angry barrage of insults.”

“My opponent’s touchiness every time he is questioned about his record should make us only more concerned. For a guy who’s already authored two memoirs, he’s not exactly an open book. It’s as if somehow the usual rules don’t apply, and where other candidates have to explain themselves and their records, Senator Obama seems to think he is above all that. Whatever the question, whatever the issue, there’s always a back story with Senator Obama. All people want to know is: What has this man ever actually accomplished in government?” McCain asked as a number of supporters shouted “nothing!”

Attendees often responded to McCain’s rhetorical questions with answers and sometimes even insults like “criminal” and even “terrorist” when he asked “who the real Barack Obama” was.

The GOP nominee also attempted to raise questions about Obama’s economic record.

“Senator Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed. But the truth is I was the one who called at the time for tighter restrictions on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac,” he said. “Senator Obama was silent on the regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and his Democratic allies in Congress opposed every effort to rein them in. As recently as September of last year he said that subprime loans had been, quote, ‘a good idea’ … to hear him talk now, you’d think he’d always opposed the dangerous practices at these institutions. But there is absolutely nothing in his record to suggest he did. Nothing, zero, zippo, nada.”

The Obama campaign called the speech an “angry tirade.”

“On a day when the markets are plunging and the credit crisis is putting millions of jobs at risk, the only truly angry candidate in this race kept up his strategy of ‘turning the page’ on the economy by unleashin another frustrated tirade against Barack Obama,” said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor.
The full prepared remarks after the jump:

In less than a month, the American people will make a choice on where they want this country to go, and who they trust to lead us in a time of war and economic crisis. The time for debating and electioneering is drawing to a close. Soon it will be the time for choosing.

Today we have seen a reminder of the importance of that choice. The action Congress took last week to address our financial crisis was a tourniquet, but not a permanent solution. Today we are seeing the stock market fall, and the credit crisis spread to other parts of the world. Our economy is still hurting — working families are worried about the price of groceries, the price of gas, keeping their jobs and paying their mortgage — further action is needed. We need to restore confidence in our economy and in our government.

Washington is still on the wrong track and we still need change. The status quo is not on the ballot. We are going to see change in Washington. The question is: in what direction will we go? Will our country be a better place under the leadership of the next president — a more secure, prosperous, and just society? Will you be better off, in the jobs you hold now and in the opportunities you hope for? Will your sons and daughters grow up in the kind of country you wish for them, rising in the world and finding in their own lives the best of America? And which candidate’s experience — in government and in life — makes him a more reliable leader for our country and commander in chief for our troops? Who is ready to lead? In a time of trouble and danger for our country, who will put our country first?

I set out on my own campaign for president many months ago. I promised at the beginning to be straight with the American people, knowing that even those who don’t agree with me on everything would expect at least that much. I didn’t just show up out of nowhere, after all — America knows me. You know my strengths and my faults. You know my story and my convictions. And though familiarity in politics can be both helpful to a candidate, or not so helpful, it does at least fill out the picture and answer the essential questions. You need to know who you’re putting in the White House — where the candidate came from and what he or she believes. And you need to know now, before it is time to choose.

In 21 months, during hundreds of speeches, town halls and debates, I have kept my promise to level with you about my plans to reform Washington and get this country moving again. As a senator, I’ve seen the corrupt ways of Washington in wasteful spending and other abuses of power, and as president I’m going to end them — whatever it takes. I will propose and sign into law reforms to bring tax relief to the middle class and help to businesses so they can create jobs. I will get the rising cost of food and gas under control. I will help families keep their home, and help students struggling to pay for college. I will make health care more accessible and affordable. I will impose a spending freeze on all but the most vital functions of government. I will review every agency of the federal government, improve those that need to be improved and eliminate those that aren’t working for the American people. I will confront th e ten trillion-dollar debt that the federal government has run up, and balance the federal budget by the end of my term in office.

This is the agenda I have set before my fellow citizens. And the same standards of clarity and candor must now be applied to my opponent. Even at this late hour in the campaign, there are essential things we don’t know about Senator Obama or the record that he brings to this campaign.

We have all heard what he has said, but it is less clear what he has done or what he will do. What Senator Obama says today and what he has done in the past are often two different things. He has often changed his positions in this campaign, and the best way to determine where he would really take this country is to examine where he has tried to take it in the past.

My opponent has invited serious questioning by announcing a few weeks ago that he would quote — “take off the gloves.” Since then, whenever I have questioned his policies or his record, he has called me a liar.

Rather than answer his critics, Senator Obama will try to distract you from noticing that he never answers the serious and legitimate questions he has been asked. But let me reply in the plainest terms I know. I don’t need lessons about telling the truth to American people. And were I ever to need any improvement in that regard, I probably wouldn’t seek advice from a Chicago politician.

My opponent’s touchiness every time he is questioned about his record should make us only more concerned. All people want to know is: What has this man ever actually accomplished in government? What does he plan for America? In short: Who is the real Barack Obama? But ask such questions and all you get in response is another barrage of angry insults.

Our current economic crisis is a good case in point. What was his actual record in the years before the great economic crisis of our lifetimes?

This crisis started in our housing market in the form of subprime loans that were pushed on people who could not afford them. Bad mortgages were being backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and it was only a matter of time before a contagion of unsustainable debt began to spread. This corruption was encouraged by Democrats in Congress, and abetted by Senator Obama.

Senator Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed. But the truth is I was the one who called at the time for tighter restrictions on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that could have helped prevent this crisis from happening in the first place.

Senator Obama was silent on the regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and his Democratic allies in Congress opposed every effort to rein them in. As recently as September of last year he said that subprime loans had been, quote, “a good idea.” Well, Senator Obama, that “good idea” has now plunged this country into the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

To hear him talk now, you’d think he’d always opposed the dangerous practices at these institutions. But there is absolutely nothing in his record to suggest he did. He was surely familiar with the people who were creating this problem. The executives of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have advised him, and he has taken their money for his campaign.

He has received more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than any other senator in history, with the exception of the chairman of the committee overseeing them. Did he ever talk to the executives at Fannie and Freddie about these reckless loans? Did he ever discuss with them the stronger oversight I proposed? If Senator Obama is such a champion of financial regulation, why didn’t he support these regulations that could have prevented this crisis in the first place? He won’t tell you, but you deserve an answer.

Even after he refused to lift a finger to prevent this crisis, when the crisis hit, he was missing in action. He didn’t start making calls to round up votes until after the rescue bill failed in the House and the markets crashed. We continue to see the price of delay today as the markets continue to fall. Today the DOW has fallen below 10,000. And yet, members of his own party said they felt no pressure to vote for the bill. Why didn’t Senator Obama work to pass this bill from the start? Why did he let it fail and drag out this crisis for a full week before doing a thing to help pass it?

Again on taxes, we see a difference between what Senator Obama says today, what he said yesterday and what he has actually done. Over the course of this campaign, he has had many different plans to raise your taxes. During the Democratic primary, he promised to double taxes on every American with a dividend or an investment. He promised to raise payroll taxes. He promised higher taxes on electricity. Now, Senator Obama claims he will give 95 percent of Americans tax relief. He actually promised the same thing when he was running for Senate in Illinois, but once elected he never introduced legislation to do so. Instead, he voted for the Democratic budget resolution that promised to raise taxes on people making just 42,000 dollars a year. At the time, he even said his vote was intended to get “our nation’s priorities back on track.” If he’s such a defender of the middle class, why did he vote to raise their taxes? Whatever ha ppened to the tax relief he promised them when he was a candidate for the Senate? And why should middle class Americans trust him to keep promises he has already broken?

Senator Obama and I both have differences with how President Bush has handled the economy. But he thinks taxes are too low, and I think spending is too high. The government’s out of control spending has resulted in a weaker dollar, raising the cost of groceries and gasoline, and killing jobs.

I will veto pork barrel legislation and cut wasteful government spending. Senator Obama has a different plan. According to third party estimates, he will increase government spending by over 860 billion dollars. He has denied it, but he has refused to tell you how much he does plan to spend. What is the total of his increased spending? Americans deserve to know just how much more of their money Senator Obama intends to spend, and how much more debt he plans to burden them with.

Senator Obama has also criticized earmark spending, those wasteful pork barrel projects stuck in spending bills behind closed doors. And yet, despite his talk on the campaign trail, his actual record is full of requests for earmark projects. In his three short years in the Senate, he has requested nearly a billion dollars in pork projects for his state — a million dollars for every day he’s been in office. Far from fighting earmarks in Congress, Senator Obama has been an eager participant in this corrupt system. In one instance, he sought more than 3 million dollars for a new projector at a planetarium in his hometown. Coincidentally, the chairman of that planetarium pledged to raise more than $200,000 for Senator Obama’s campaign. We don’t know if they ever discussed the money for the planetarium, and no one has asked Senator Obama. But even the appearance of this kind of insider-dealing disgusts Americans. I’m going to put a stop to that, my friends, if I’m President.

I have made every single donor to my campaign publicly available, while Senator Obama has taken in over 200 million dollars from undisclosed sources. We have already seen the potential for fraud because of his refusal to disclose his donors. His campaign had to return $33,000 in illegal foreign funds from Palestinian donors, and this weekend, we found out about another $28,000 in illegal donations. Why has Senator Obama refused to disclose the people who are funding his campaign? Again, the American people deserve answers.

On health care, Senator Obama has been misleading you about my plan to give you more money for health care, and he has been equally misleading about his own plans. He has said his goal is a single payer system where government is in charge of health care and bureaucrats stand between you and your doctor. Under the plan he has proposed, he will fine families that don’t have the kind of health insurance that Senator Obama tells them to purchase. He will fine employers who do not offer the health insurance that he thinks they should offer.

What he doesn’t say, and what nobody has asked, is how big his fines will be. What he doesn’t want you to know is that with a small fine, his plan will encourage companies to just pay the fine, drop existing health care coverage for their employees and leave them with only one real option: government run health care.

Who is the real Senator Obama? Is he the candidate who promises to cut middle class taxes, or the politician who voted to raise middle class taxes? Is he the candidate who talks about regulation or the politician who took money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and turned a blind eye as they ran our economy into a ditch?

Is he the candidate who promises change, or is he the politician who has bought into everything that is wrong with Washington? We can’t change the system with someone who’s never fought the system.

Washington is on the wrong track and I’m going to set it right. The American people know my record. They know I am going to change Washington, because I’ve done it before. They know I’m going to reform our broken institutions in Washington and on Wall Street because I’ve done it before. They know I’m going to deliver relief to the middle class, because that’s what I’ve done.

You don’t have to hope that things will change when you vote for me. You know things will change, because I have been fighting for change in Washington my whole career. I’ve been fighting for you my whole life. That’s what I’m going to do as President of the United States. Fight for you and put the government back on the side of the people.

About time John McCain went after Obama, and the other news media suck, they have no morals and I hope they don’t sleep at night. What comes around goes around. I hope the other news media lose viewers, lose money, and those people lose their jobs. Oh, maybe Obama can hire them. He can add those radicals to his current radicals.

Here you have a 72 year “old” man whose time has passed. Eight years ago, he was a “maverick”. Now he is just a shadow of the man. W took his time away from him.

AMEN, Senator McCain!!!! And AMEN!!!

It mystifies me that people can be blindsided by Obama and the Democratic Party!! Can the people of this wonderful Country NOT see that the Democratic Party have focused so heavily on who the VICE President will be, (WHICH by the way … GOVERNOR SARA PALIN ROCKS and WILL be an AWESOME Vice President!), instead of who the PRESIDENT will be???

I was raised that you can talk a lot of talk, but it doesn’t make any difference if you are not prepared to WALK THE WALK! You, sir, have and continue to ‘walk the walk’ and I thank you for doing so.

Senator McCain, my family and I continue our prayer for you, Mrs. McCain, Governor Palin, FIRST DUDE, and both families for God to intervene in this madness, making your paths clear and steps concise … all the way to the White House!

Tuesday night, when you ‘take the gloves off’, we know that truth will be spoken. May the people of this great nation have the ears to hear that truth.

God bless you!

I think this is the fall of senator Mcain camp. Embarking on manufacturing lies and insults against Obama indicate a great weakness. Its only hurting Mcain not Obama.Senate Mcain should stop cultivating false and spread dignity.

Well…what’s wrong with questions about Obama? Palin has been under the microscope - why the double standard?

And why is Hillary supporting Obama when she herself brought up his shady associations?

Just asking…

And will the real McCain stand up? To read an insightful article about McCain go to:

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_real_john_mccain

Even the Reagans rejected McCain after McCain dumped his wife for the younger, healthier, richer model.

If this is a race about character, Obama wins hands down. Just because McCain was a war prisoner, does not mean he has character. He is a character right from a bad B-movie. He has no conscience and lies over and over again.

As to Obama’s connection to a former 60’s radical, the insinuations are simply outrageous. Jane Fonda was a 60’s radical, yet Ted Turner married her. Are we going to blame Obama for knowing someone who did something 40 years ago?

Can McCain stand the scrutiny for his relationship with Keating? Can Palin stand the scrutiny for her husband’s association with a group that wants to secede from the US? Talk about unpatriotic!!!!!

I cannot believe McCain says he has no problem telling the truth to Americans! This is the man who ran an ad trying to make Obama perverse for passing a bill to help protect our children against pedophiles. Please if you are on the fence between Obama and McCain look at the tactics that McCain employs. He makes Chicago Politics look like Sunday school. We in the middle class need to stand together. Lets get our jobs back and our reputation back as a country.

Obama awarded Illinois grants to relative’s group
By CHRISTOPHER WILLS (Associated Press Writer)
From Associated Press
October 06, 2008 7:38 PM EDT
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - As a state senator, Democrat Barack Obama awarded $75,000 in government grants to a Chicago social service organization led by a rabbi who is also his wife’s cousin, records show.

In 1999, Obama arranged for $50,000 for adult literacy and counseling services offered on Chicago’s South Side by a group called Blue Gargoyle. A $25,000 grant for the group’s youth services followed the next year.

The group’s executive director when the grants were awarded was Capers Funnye, a South Side rabbi and Michelle Obama’s first cousin once removed.

Funnye (pronounced fun-NAY) said Monday there was nothing improper about the way Blue Gargoyle obtained the grants. Obama did not encourage him to apply for the money, he said, and Funnye denied using family connections to pressure Obama to approve the application.

Obama’s presidential campaign said the grants supported valuable services.

“State Sen. Obama joined other legislators in securing funding for a well-established social services agency in his district that provided job training, employment counseling, and alternative education programs to approximately 1,200 Chicago residents each year,” campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said.

Funnye noted that Blue Gargoyle got similar grants from another state legislator who had no family ties to the group.

“There was nothing funny, nothing below board,” Funnye said. “Everything was done according to whatever guidelines the state of Illinois had in place.”

But guidelines were practically nonexistent.

At the time, Illinois legislators were handing out hundreds of millions of dollars in grants. The money was part of a deal that legislative leaders cut with the governor to approve a major public-works program.

Each legislator could award money to favored groups and projects with basically no oversight. The grants were known as “member initiatives” and were similar to the congressional “earmarks” often criticized in Obama’s presidential campaign against Republican John McCain.

Obama awarded about $6 million for everything from literacy programs and park improvements to drill team uniforms and jazz appreciation events.

Founded in 1968, Blue Gargoyle provides job training and placement, tutoring, counseling and an alternative high school for dropouts. It’s name refers to gargoyles on buildings at the University of Chicago, where the founders started their charitable work, Funnye said.

Funnye said he was executive director from late 1997 until summer 2002. Obama would have been familiar with the organization’s work even before his wife’s cousin took over, he added.

McCain began his political career as a Viet Nam hero. He is ending his political career as an Angry Little Troll.

Comment by Happy

McCain has finally done what should have talked about 4 weeks ago! Talking about what Obama has done and lack of leadership qualities is necessary, but might be to late. With the focus on jobs, lack of revenue, bank closings, loss of retirement and no ability to get credit by any bank; no one really is focused OBAMA, and McCain is coming off as a sore loser with little hope left. And Palin comes across as nice, but not knowledgeable on key issues. Having her as the “attack dog” does not but her in a more favorable light, but as someone who is told what to say. She is not talking about key economic issues, or discussing anything which makes me think she could run this country if needed.

Hey McCain…did you just say
“Washington is on the wrong track and I’m going to set it right, You know things will change, because I have been fighting for change in Washington my whole career”

Well obviously you didnt have much impact John cause the US is bankrupt, embarrasing health care and in an illegal war in Iraq. So thanks but no thanks.

AMEN Senator McCain! Finally he has said what people have been asking each other every day. I only pray that he has the gumption to call him out on these things at the debates tomorrow. If Senator Obama can retaliate with HONEST answers. Proof of his innocence then let him do it. It will only help him in the end to answer these questions unless he has something to hide. As for Government Health care. Imagine going to the DMV to see your doctor before you vote.

This is not a news story; it’s advertising. It’s John McCain’s latest stump speech, a desperate hysterical tirade devoid of fact. Virtually every declarative statement is an easily refutable lie. See factcheck.org and/or other fact check websites. Does Fox News get paid for this by the McCain campaign or is this just more of it’s unfair and unbalanced propaganda?

Remember, friends don’t let friends watch Fox News.

My prayers are for John McCain and Sarah Palin… and I pray Barack Obama’s eyes will be opened and his heart changed!!

Thank you for this piece! Very few will report factual information that might portray a negative view towards Obama. Senator McCain is correct in that Obama has a very flawed agenda. Anger towards the current administration is the base of his support, Senator McCain is NOT George Bush and will take the country in a new direction. People have put Obama up to a standard because they desperately want to believe he is going to save all. He can’t possibly live up to the outrageous expectations people have put on him. He is just a man and it’s time to get real.

Comment by Brickhouse

Maybe McCain’s words don’t send a shiver up our legs, but we know that we can take his word. His words mean things, and he’s not a liar. McCain will tell us the ugly truth, and take the bull by the horns instead of guessing the mood in the region he’s talking, unlike others who shall remain nameless. McCain is a straight-talker, and Obama’s glib campaign “just can’t handle the truth.” Pointing out these fatal flaws in Obama now before the election is McCain’s moral duty. He IS fighting for America again, with even more at stake than during VietNam. McCain sees our nation at the brink of radical socialism, and is trying to fight to keep America what she is and always has been.

McCain said “fight with me! fight with me!” at the RNC convention. It was the good fight he’s talking about. Seems to me we need to get involved in that fight; our country is at stake.

This is an excellent summary of the truth about Obama. I hope every caring, open-minded American will consider what McCain has said. If people were to but listen and consider the truth, there could be no doubt as to who should be the next President - John McCain.
Obama didn’t know about Ayers’ Weathermen background, and he didn’t know what a radical his pastor was (even after 20 years), and I bet he didn’t know Resko is a crook. He had no idea that Iran and Venezuela were important countries ( so small they are), he didn’t know the financial crisis was big enough to require exclusive attention – he was busy multitasking. Words, just words. Obama has said so much that is contradiction that I am left to cling to my Bible and my gun and consider my antipathy toward those who are not like me. What tripe! Obama= higher taxes. Obama= positive attitude toward abortion. Obama = meet with those who hate America with no pre-conditions. Obama = liberal judges. Obama = Chicago style politics = corruption.
Obama = poor judgement in friends: those crazy, radical, racist pastors; real estate crooks like Raines et al.; his wife who is not proud of America. His plan for cutting programs in light of the current bailout is to add more programs. Just words - exactly - no answers, no substance, no truth, no leadership. Wake up America!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good for you McCain! It’s about time to call him on the carpet for the pack of lies and deception he’s been spewing. There is so much ammunition available to simply drive Obama’s campaign into the ground, he’s been wrong just about every single time, he’s got a pack of crazy relationships, and a head full of crazy ideas that he’s trying to hide from the American people. Obama, in short, is quite possibly the worst choice we’ve ever had as a presidential candidate. Bar none. No character, no integrity, no ‘change we can believe in’.

McCain/Palin ‘08!
Or we will all be very sorry.

That’s what OBAMA is proposing with your money. I suppose all of you that make millions figure your selves not businesses and won’t need to pay the taxes. LOOK OUT! He’s worse than slick willy!!!!

NOW, we have what I call a fair fight! Obama has been running mean spirited and misleading campaign for months and now wants to point the finger back at McCain for calling him out for his lack of experience, questionable “friends” and acquaintances and more flip flopping then a hooked rainbow trout. It’s about time the heat was turned back onto Obama and this time, I too want CLEAR answers that don’t gloss over the issues, especially the facts. Obama never answers questions fully and always plays the deflect, deflect, deflect game. Well Obama, GAME OVER. In my opinion, Obama is a dangerous man. I frankly do not want someone with NO record, and so far to the left he walks round in circles (much like his attempts to explain his choice in past and current relationships). NO THANK YOU!

I think that if America doesn’t wake up and smell the coffee about Barack Obama this nation will never again resemble what our founding fathers set out to create. As a small family business that employees workers, we are already making plans for the possibility of out-sourcing all work if Barack Obama becomes president, some to foreign countries, effectively laying off our entire staff. We cannot pay the high taxes proposed by Barack Obama and the democratic congress. I already know of another US Company that, because they fear Obama may be elected president, has already secured an office overseas and has made final plans to relocate by the end of the year. We want affordable health care just like everybody else does, but I don’t want the government mandating my health care, dictating what kind of health care I must accept, and taking away my freedom of choice. I, like millions of Americans, embrace a more holistic (common sense) approach to health care. We are not a pop-a-pill, feed the pharmaceuticals family. Ask yourself who is behind the ’socialistic’ health care plans of Obama? Follow the money! I know McCain is not perfect, nobody is. If he had never made a mistake in his life, I would certainly question what he could have possibly learned. But his judgment is sound, he puts his country first, he has exemplified his willing to fight for his country and is a true ‘proud’ American. America needs to wake up and ask themselves WHO has controlled congress for the past 2 years? The democrats is who. While the pundits would like to blame everything on the Bush administration, nothing gets passed through either branch of Congress that the democrats don’t want passed. They hold the majority!

“McCain goes for Obama jugular”
And well he must - expose this populist who blames the government for everything when Obama himself has accomplished nothing in the government. Obama is a spectacular spender of the people’s money. He does not keep promises. He has no real substance himself. Unfortunately his disgusting blame game about the government has duped many. Especially young people because Obama knows how to push the right buttons with his blasphemous remarks an untruthfulness.
He has enough money to buy people like Bruce Springsteen to increase his appeal.
You think Obama will really help you and give you money? No, only an honest honorable man can do that, but even so, the battle is tough because of entrenched dishonesty in high political circles.
We know the desease, but Obama will make your life far worse with his Socialist plans.
Think long an hard before you vote for Obama. Mc Cain knows what to do to clean up the government, and see to it you are secure. REAL EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED, NOT DREAMS AND GOVERNMENT CONTROL.
Wake up! Obama is not the answer! The guy is deceiving you big time! A vote for him is a vote for Socialism and government bankruptcy! Of course Obama would blame it on someone else.
He always does. Will that be a satisfaction to you when you have nothing and your country remains in shambles?

This is what we need… the truth. The liberal press has been giving Obama a free ride. They questions Palin for wearing a Buchannan pin, but have not questioned Obama for being associated with terrorists. It is no surprised with all the money he is getting from foreign countries that all foreign countries rather have him as president. The president should be elected by the American people not by foreign money.

It’s time for America to be informed about Obama. A tree is knowed after it’s fruits. Shake the tree so we can see it’s fruits.Make him talk in close conversations. We want to hear him speaking openly so he can unveal his agenda.

Yes John, America does know you. Your launch of Peggy Hill Palin into attack mode tells us more about you.

The more we know, the more your numbers sink.

I’m gonna ignore this and talk about how my pig stubbed its toe when coming out the bathroom after putting on lipstick.

I mean, gosh, how fewer toes must a pig have to have in order to avoid stubbing it. Can’t a pig ever get a break. Oink, oink.

What???? You have a question about foreign relations????

Hmm… I’m gonna ignore that too and talk about how my kitty cat had fun with her tail in the a/c fan. My kitty thought it was… really… some… good, old fashioned, this great country that I love very much, and we have lot of oil in alaska, and we can see Russia from one of our island. I think that is important. Because, if Putin rears his head, where is that, it’s Alaska.

One can only laugh at the thought of John McCain describing Barack Obama as “touchy” about
anything at all. McCain is growing nastier and nastier in his attacks, and I’m afraid that the Obama campaign is going to reciprocate. Okay, everybody reading this story: Do you remember saying things as a kid like “I know you are, so what am I” and “You’re paper, I’m glue, everything you say sticks back on you”? Our mothers taught us that when we say nasty things about people, it makes US look bad, not the other person. It is basic human nature. The angrier that McCain gets, the more he alienates people. When he acted so dismissive of Obama during the presidential debate he lost a lot of the undecideds. The latest - “Obama is a terrorist” - shows that the attack mode campaign strategy is becoming more and more unreal. Call him inexperienced, too liberal, whatever. But the guy is a Constitutional scholar and taught Constitutional law at Harvard Law School. Gimme a break! Imagine an antisemite with a PhD in Hebrew. Bizarre and beyond belief. Carl Rove is losing his marbles, I think.

We don’t know enough about Obama because the MSM did not do their job.

John McCain is right on. In Reagan’s era the scariest words in America were, “I’m from the government and I am here to help.” Now the scariest words in America are, “Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi.” If that doesn’t empty your wallet, nothing will.

Fox News is a pawn for the Republican agenda! They are the spinners of propaganda dears! It is hard to have to wake up, but better to do it before it is too late than after you are trapped within it’s evil web.

I dare you to show my comment.

It is very clear whom I should vote for. So far all I am hearing from the Republican Candidates, John McCain and Sarah Palin is negativity and nothing about the problems we are facing with the economy. I don’t think desperate people should be running this country. They usually do a poor job. That type of behavior would get us into a lot more problems. Sarah Palin is beginning to annoy me with her cold, cold heart. No loving mother would turn her back on an handicapped child. Handicapped and Ignored equals Abortion. There is no difference. Nothing like mother’s constant love when it is mostly needed. Don’t tell me that child does not know the difference. The fact that he is not yet talking or walking does not mean he does not understand or even recognize a mother’s touch. Seriously! there is none like it.

Why is the main steam media causing all of the problems with this hit on Obama? Obama has been throwing dirt at John McCain ,since this campaign started. Now that McCain & Palin stand up for themselves, it’s a dirty campaign? I say this is BS, take the main steam media. At least those that are causing all of this unfair reporting of the campaign. Also those that are not Bias, and have been paid big money, by the left wing party(Dumycrates) just to cause this all.
I’m suprised that obama did’t say that both McCian & Palin are bigots, and that McCian & Palin are bring up obamas past, because they want to put the black man down agian! I know that this is going to happen when McCian & Palin Win this election YOU DO TOO!

John McCain has denigrated into a DISHONORABLE ‘has-been’
who carries the old cynical flag of a dying ideology.

Good riddance to the backward Republican party…

We wont.

Finally, it seems pretty simple…..8 years ago, the Republicans took control and ran the show. Prior to that, they controlled the legislature for 6 years. That equals 14 years of republican political dominance at the legislative level coupled with 8 years at the Exec level. If you are satisfied with the results of that leadership, by all means vote the Republican ticket. For myself, their stewardship of the country has been so disastrous that they are an embarrassment to the term politician, and that takes some doing. The Senator from Arizona has spent 26 years in Washington within the club. The term Maverick belongs with James Garner, not John McCain. One thing is for sure, the Democrats deserve the opportunity to see if they can do better. The bar is so low, they can hardly do worse. And I’d rather see a genuinely intelligent person as the head of this state. We all have seen what happens when a folksy, tough, driven man prevails without the mind for the job. We wind up where we are, which is a lousy place indeed. It is definitely time for a change, and definitely that change will not come under McCain.

Comment by Another Sarah

When you are 29 days out from the election and you and your pit bull with lipstick can only go even more extremely negative, especially with the long ago non-story about William Ayers and the tenuous connection to Obama, it shows that the candidate has absolutely nothing else to offer the country. Our country is in a horrible mess right now and all they can talk about are negative character assassinations? What a monumental waste of the media’s time, even for Fox News.

The Republican candidate for President is a dishonorable man and a disgrace to the “Honor Code” that was drilled into him at the US Naval Academy and which he should be still living by, which is stated simply as (and I paraphrase) “An officer does not lie, cheat or steal”, something my father who was not an officer, but a proud Staff Sargeant in the Air Force and veteran of the Korean War, drilled into me throughout all my life, the Republican Party and politicians everywhere.. McCain cannot even define “Honor”, let alone live by the code. His running mate, well, what can be said by the little Daisy Mae of Alaska, that better minds than mine (National Review) have already said, in that she is not fit to run for national office and is an embarrassment to the ticket?

This comment comes from a 52 year old, white, disabled, life-long, (until now), Republican woman. McCain and Palin, along with her ilk, especially, have ruined this once respectable party and has personally been responsible for 3 lifelong Republicans and one brand new one (2004) to leave the party.

McCain’s grandfather and father would be so proud of this morally bankrupt relation that bears their name. Poor President Reagan must be spinning in his grave over what this party and this candidate has become. He is pitiful and so is Governor Palin. You should be ashamed to support them.

I can only say again that Obama is a dangerous man who has not earned the right to be President of the United States of America. He distorts the truth and paints a false picture of what is going on so that he can persuade people to vote for him. He says whatever he thinks they want to hear so he can get what he wants. He and his campaign started the mudslinging and the lies. Especially Biden who told so many lies during the debate that it was hard to count them all. Both Obama and Biden are two-faced and will say or do anything for the sake of gaining power. They are quite clever and deceptive and say one thing to one group while turning around and saying something completely different to another. The debate showed it clearly during several exchanges, but you will not hear about it from the liberal media.
Obama and Biden will destroy this nation with their policies if they are elected. Everything that is of any value will be lost. The economy will fold. The middle class will struggle harder for less. The wealth redistribution they espouse will cause businesses to fold. The increased taxes will lead to higher prices for all services and products which will be passed on the middle class and will be complicated by the loss of jobs forced upon employers who cannot afford the taxes and costs of doing business that will be imposed upon them by the punitive policies.
The health care system will deteriorate to the point that even basic care will not be available without excessively long waits for appointments with increasingly overworked and underpaid health care workers. The policies will cause an egress of qualified health care workers into other areas and will aggravate already ailing areas with increased shortages of adequately trained and properly motivated individuals. Resources will not be made available for those that need them the most because there will be no incentive to pay for them and those that own them will not provide them because they will not receive adequate reimbursement for them.
The educational system will fall into a sub-standard mess with the establishment of mediocrity being the order of the day. Instead of paying teachers more so they can do a better job and letting them do what they do best, they will be forced to comply with policies that do not address the problems adequately and will continue to do little more than babysit children during the day while their parents work two jobs just to try and make ends meet. Standards will continue to be lowered in order to continue to pump out a minimum wage work force to provide the labor for the socialist society that Obama’s policies represent.
The safety of our country will be compromised because they do not believe in the greatness of our nation and will sell us out to the highest bidder among the nations of our enemies at the first chance they get. Obama has never fought for any of us and has no idea what it takes to be in the military. He is so far out of touch with the brave men and women in the armed forces that he is willing to sacrifice their lives and the lives of their loved ones for his own self aggrandizement. Just so he can pat himself on the back because he sat down and had a conversation with our enemies without any conditions other than making sure that they recognize him for being the great leader he thinks he is. All the while, he legitimizes their terrorist behavior and lends credence to their pseudological philosophies which only serves to motivate them more to press forward with their destructive policies and actions directed against all Americans and our allies wherever they can find them.
In addition, the class warfare that Obama wishes to propagate will bring destruction and chaos to our country and will jeopardize our future as well as the future of our children who will ultimately pay the price for his ill conceived policies. Our nation will be more divided than it has ever been since the Civil War and we will suffer more than we ever have at any other time in our history. Crime will rise to record levels. Aberrant moral and social behaviors will run rampant. The basic principles that this country was founded upon will be desecrated and trampled underfoot like yesterday’s garbage.
Obama and Biden are deceptively evil men that do not have the interests of the common citizens of the United States in mind. Their only interest is in promoting themselves and gaining the power, influence, prestige, and benefits that come with being elected to the highest office in the land. They will not look out for those who deserve the assistance the most, but will instead direct their efforts toward those whom they wish to reward for assisting them in their endeavors. The special interests that they will cater to are frightening and will not be inclined to work for the betterment of the nation as a whole. I would venture to say that they may even border on the criminal element as attested to by Obama’s refusal to reveal the sources of his financial support and the lists of his contributors.
We cannot allow ourselves to be hypnotized by their flashy rhetoric and their calculated dishonesty. We cannot let ourselves fall victim to their orchestrated charismatic performances. We must see through their facade and work diligently to keep the truth in front of the people so that they can see the danger and lack of wisdom in supporting them. We have to do this because the media, the empty headed celebrities in Hollywood, and the drug overloaded rock and roll stars who claim support for the Obamessiah are obviously incapable of doing it. The sad fact is that most of their support is related to the fact that most of them only want to see him win so he can make history by being the first black president. Obviously, that is not a very good reason to be voting for him.
As I see it, we can sit back and let our country be destroyed by an individual and his communistic supporters who do not understand what this country is all about, who do not love our country for the great nation that it is, and who is undeserving of being our leader; or we can stand up and fight for the individual who truly knows what our country stands for, whose strength of character is beyond reproach, who has fought for us and our nation at the expense of his life, who knows what we need to do to make ourselves a stronger and better nation, and who puts our country and its citizens first above all other things. The obvious choice is McCain / Palin !!

mccaain is a very poor excuse for a former military officer. He has not displayed any sense of honor during the campaign and is now unlikely to change. In the military he displayed more poor judgement than courage and took advantage of the fact that his father was an admiral; he is following bush’s footsteps and morals very closely. He is about to be sent back to Arizona where he can live out his poor health.
