ASHEVILLE, NC - Hours after Barack Obama chastised the McCain campaign for “swift boat” attacks on his character for tying him to Bill Ayers, the Democrat launched a new website to focus on John McCain’s connections to Charles Keating.
The Obama campaign produced a 13-minute documentary on McCain’s relationship with Keating, who served time in prison for his role in the 1980s savings and loan scandal. McCain was one of five U.S. senators known as the “Keating Five” accused of improperly intervening on behalf of Keating.
It was alleged that the five senators, who received campaign contributions from Keating, urged regulators to back off from his Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, resulting in the savings and loan crisis.
After a nine month investigation of the Keating Five by the Senate Ethics Committee, it was determined that McCain had minimal involvement in the scandal, but the Arizona senator was slapped with exercising “poor judgment.”

Campaign manager David Plouffe urged supporters to watch and share the video. “The point of the film and the web site is that John McCain still hasn’t learned his lesson,” he wrote. “And this time, McCain’s bankrupt economic philosophy has put our economy at the brink of collapse and put millions of Americans at risk of losing their homes.”
Obama himself is holed up in debate preparations and has not yet brought up McCain’s connections to Keating on the campaign trail. In May, however, a surrogate said McCain was “up to his neck in the Keating Five and savings-and-loan scandal.”
When asked later by a reporter if Keating was “fair game,” Obama responded, “I don’t think there’s any doubt that John McCain’s public record about issues that he has apologized for and written about is not germane to the presidency. I was just asked previously about a whole host of issues associations that were a lot more flimsy than John McCain’s relationship to Keating Five and what I have said is that I cannot quarrel with the American people wanting to know more about that, and of me having to answer questions about it.”

McCain acknowledged the ‘poor judgement’ and apologized.
Obama still denies there is any problem with his association based on the fact the bombings took place when he was a child.
Can you see the difference between these 2? As with Wright, Obama clings to a stupid relationship far too long, telling us about his judgement and character.
This is just another example of McCain’s history of very poor judgement and lack of character. Next, we should be discussing Palin’s involvement with the Alaskan Independence movement - an example of absolutely no character.
Since I watched the keating 5 hearings, I could not see where John Mccain had a lot of involement. I think Barrac Obama has a much bigger problem with his associations with Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright, Acorn, Fanny Mae And Freddy Mac. He has very socialistic ideas and I dont think he is either qualified or suitable to lead a free society. He is of the blame America first crowd .
I’m sorry but wasn’t McCAin investigated and other than him exercising bad judgement, that was it??? Ok, now we get to have full disclosure from Obama on his past, right? Obama’s past radical associates go beyond bad judgement. Just wait, I understand Acorn and contributions are being investigated. Unethical behaviour anyone?

Since McCain apologized publicly for his role it unfortunate that the Keating affair had to be brought up, which is obviously why the Obama campaign hesitated in doing so. But the slime coming from the other side made it necessary. Moreover, since it concerns matters directly related to the current banking crisis, it is certainly more germane than what the McCain campaign is throwing out. But both sides should call a halt to this mud slinging and return to the great issue of out time: the economy. Or is it that the McCain campaign has nothing useful to say on that topic.

It is about time that we are hearing the truth about Obama. He has tried to dodge his association to a long list of unsavory characters for way too long. The liberal media has given him a free pass and chosen not dug into any of the information or tips they were given. Shame on them. They have spent more time digging into Sarah Palin in the past 6 weeks than Obama in the past 16 months. That is what I call irresponsible and dangerous journalism.
It doesn’t surprise me that Obama’s campaign is trying to go after McCain and the Keating 5. He was absolved of any wrong doing, still Obama and his team will try to stretch the truth and make McCain the bad guy. I guess if you spend enough time pointing fingers at everyone else, Obama hopes no one will really look into his sordid and anti-patriotic past

I think it is more important to focus in on Obama and his long trail of friends, mentors, Spiritual adivsor. There is an overall link her white racist who hate America. There is no way Obama could be involved in any of these associations and not have been affected in his thinking. Uncover his years at Columbia and Harvard I bet there is some more links to this horrific trail.
Obama should come forward with the truth and not his usual disassociating hiimself its to late to do that there are years of association. He made obvious choices that are instilled within him that he can not deny or refute.
Yes I think we should have the right to know who they have associated with and what they are doing for the canidates right now. Ok, the Keating scandal will tar McCain for a few days, at least well after the debate. Obama should keep hammering McCain’s social security invested to the stock market, McCain’s health care tax and the economy tying McCain to Bush. But Obama is going to need another McCain scandal along the horizon. Does anyone know what that will be?
I know that everyone seems to think that anything and everything is fair in politics. Including the usage of Palin in this election. Quite honestly I think win or lose the Gov. is going to sit back one day and realize that she was only used for political gain. As much as McCain claims to not be like that everything he’s done is for political gain.
I mean really now, isn’t this like the 3rd or 4th time he’s ran for President. This time though he simply pulled out all the stops, and it still looks like he may not win.
For someone who claims to be a Maverick of politics he should have went his own way on the campaign trail instead of following the same old gloom and doom tactic the republicans have been using forever.

Bring it on! Keating and anything else. There is no truth to it. McCain was totally cleared from all of it after an extensive investigation. What have you accomplished Obama? Absolutely nothing. Are you feeling heat from your history and past associations with terrorists? The truth hurts you don’t it. Do you think you can tell lies about McCain and try to smear him with lies? See, it is a smear when you tell a LIE about someone or spin the facts to make it someone looks bad. It is fair game and above board when you use the TRUTH (a concept that you don’t use often) to bring up questionable topics that the American voter needs to be made aware of. I hope the McCain camp continues to bring out the truth that you and the liberal media has tried to keep hidden. The truth about you and all your shady associations. Could you please explain article headline like the one copied below. I have seen a lot of articles about race, tending to group white people together as prejudice when it comes to voting for the President in the Fall elections. Could it be that most Amercians do not trust Obama? Maybe it is his left wing ultra liberal policies? Possibly his wrong outline on world affairs? Or his friends like Rezko, Wright, Ayers, and Farrakhan? I think it could be his flip flopping on every major concept/idea to appeal to all voters when he chooses to.

If you tell the truth about what you really want for this country, you would not have a chance in hell to get elected. You can fool the Demacrats in this country but you can’t fool me.
I am not looking forward to the government taking over my daily life decisions, an loosing my paycheck to 95% taxation. That is the only way you could implement all your looser programs and spening progams you have proposed.
The only way this economy will come back, is to cut all taxes and get government out fo health car, the mortgage bus. and privitizing social security. The only candidates even close to doing these things is McCain / Pallin.
I have just sent an e-mail to my congressmen and senators to ask them to look into Raines, Frank, Schuman, Dobbs, Pelosi and Obama (through ACORN Housing) as connected to the current financial market meltdown. I would urge all of you to do the same. Obama can try to connect McCain to an old scandal of which he was cleared; now let’s see him weasel out of when where he, himself, is clearly connected.
Why aren’t the American voters paying attention to Obamas past associations with terrorists. He is the most anti-American racist person who has ever ran for any office I can remember.
