Rove: McCain attacks have gone “one step too far”
Former Bush campaign guru Karl Rove said Sunday that both campaigns’ attacks have “gone one step too far,” adding that some McCain spots go “beyond the 100-percent-truth test.”
“Both campaigns ought to be careful about it. They ought to — there ought to be an adult who says, ‘Do we really need to go that far in this ad? Don’t we make our point and won’t we get broader acceptance and deny the opposition an opportunity to attack us if we don’t include that one little last tweak in the ad?’” Rove told Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday.
Rove, a Fox News contributor, has provided informal advice to the McCain campaign for months but singled out the GOP nominee today for recent attacks that he believes go beyond the pale.
McCain launched a TV spot last week distorting Obama’s state senate record in which he accused the Democrat of supporting sex education for kindergartners. For his part, Obama has previously distorted McCain remarks, including saying that the GOPer supports at 100-year war in Iraq.
“They don’t need to attack each other in this way. They have legitimate points to make about each other,” Rove said. “Both campaigns are making a mistake, and that is they are taking whatever their attacks are and going one step too far.”
FULL ROVE-WALLACE EXCHANGE FROM FNS:
WALLACE: But in any case, do you have any problem with what McCain is doing by, for instance, saying — which a lot of people thought was kind of made up — that Obama was smearing Palin?
ROVE: Yeah. Well, first of all, I do think that the lipstick remark was an inappropriate — and maybe it was unconscious, but it was a deliberate slap at Governor Palin. The only time this word has intruded in recent months in the campaign was in her, you know, self-deprecating remark at the convention. So for him to use the lipstick remark less than two weeks after she used it struck me as too much of a coincidence not to have been a deliberate attack.
But look. Both campaigns are making a mistake, and that is they are taking whatever their attacks are and going one step too far. We saw this this week, for example, in the Obama ad where he makes the point, a legitimate point, that John McCain came to the United States Congress in 1982 and that he has been a longtime Washington insider. But they then say he doesn’t even know how to use a — you know, doesn’t send e-mail. Well, this is because his war injuries keep him from being able to use a keyboard. He can’t type. You know, it’s like saying he can’t do jumping jacks. Well, there’s a reason why he can’t raise his arms above his head. There’s a reason why he doesn’t have the nimbleness in his fingers.
WALLACE: All right, and for fair game, what is McCain doing that goes a step too far?
ROVE: Well, McCain has gone in some of his ads — similarly gone one step too far, and sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the 100-percent-truth test.
They don’t need to attack each other in this way. They have legitimate points to make about each other that are beyond, you know, the…
WALLACE: Real quick question — 30 seconds. Do they need to be 100 percent passing the truth? Just, in other words, when you were running Bush’s campaign, did you care whether some fact-check organization…
ROVE: No, and look, you can’t trust the fact-check organizations, with all due respect. They’re human beings. They’re individuals. They’ve got their own biases built in there.
But both campaigns ought to be careful about it. They ought to — there ought to be an adult who says, “Do we really need to go that far in this ad? Don’t we make our point and won’t we get broader acceptance and deny the opposition an opportunity to attack us if we don’t include that one little last tweak in the ad?”

Yes, McCain is now showing his true colors. He hinds behind women’s skirts and since he cannot find enough dirt, is shoveling it in from where ever he can get it. There is something to be said about those who tell lies, it is usually truthfull of themselves.
So, Mr. McCain. What have you to hide?
You think so? It has just started…his enough comment is a joke. Obama has sent out the sharks for a full feeding frenzy. I did an informal check of McCains web site and it is being attacked by trolls. I checked Obama’s site and found only a few posts, the few I found were not anywhere close to the attacks being made by Obama supporters. On Digg or politico, the political articles comments are so one sided and most posts are overtly offensive to McCain. The blogs are even worse. There is an information spamming war on the net against McCain.
As far as the Press goes, wow, I have never seen anything like this, talk about further division of the country. TV news (or should I say commentary) is a powerful medium and it has absolutely become corrupt for this election. Gibson’s interview (interrogation) was egregious. The credibility of the 3 networks, CNN, and MSNBC are so one sided it boarders on brain washing of the public.
Thank you Mr. Rove,
While I’m not a real big fan, I have started referring to myself as an Independent voter. I like to pick and choose the best attributes from all parties and then decide which one closely mirrors my convictions. I, at times, will not vote the party line in elections because not all of a particular party’s candidates reflect my passion on certain issues. I agree that passive aggressive and outright false advertisements do more to harm the entire political process then solidify any one party’s candidate for office. Yes, someone needs to grow-up and start battling over the issues, and leave the school yard tactics in the play ground. I have not yet made up my mind on who to vote for but I can express that Mr. McCain’s choice for a VP has me a little uneasy. He was well on the way to swaying this Independent towards his causes, which I parallel to some of my own, but choosing a running mate, in my mind, based on Senator Clinton’s non-selection by Senator Obama, makes me question his convictions.

Thank goodness, someone is talking about this! There is so much about Obama’s voting record, things he has actually said and done, etc., that could be used. Why not focus on the differences in policy? As the attacks and distortions continue I think it just leaves a bitter taste for voters. You can not run on integrity and honor and then allow such questionable ads. Does tit-for-tat really work?
John McCain always stressed “honor” as being the most important trait that a man can have and then he comes out with these terrible, less than truthfull ads about Barack Obama. John McCain is no longer an honorable man!
How much do you want to bet that Factcheck.org is another George Soros funded media project?
Ironic….
The only real fact is that Obama is unqualified to leader of the free world. He has no experience except feeding off the public trough. He just doesn’t get it.
[...] you’re a Republican and freaking Karl Rove says your campaign ads have gone too far, your campaign is officially in self-destruct mode: WALLACE: All right, and for fair game, what is [...]
I agree with these attacks, on both sides, deal with issues, however Obama has hurt himself MORE by making cracks at McCain’s not being able to do email, it was nothing short of low & rude & DIRTY POLITICS< not CHANGE!!! MANY of us, if not most Americans knew he cannot e-mail as also raising his arms, due to his injuries in fighting for OUR country!!!! Made Obama look very disrespectful & unpatriotic to our servicemen & women who fight our wars on our behalf and sustain permanent injuries for life for our country!!! AGAIN Obama shows by his elitist & selfish arrogant remarks, he is NOT like us, normal American middle class people who ARE loyal & greatful & RESPECTFUL to ALL who fight for our country!!! John McCain is defintely one of who has earned our respect & loyalty & trust as he has shown his love for his country!!! Obama doesn’t know the meaning of the word sacrifice for others, he is too much into himself only and this attack on McCain’s email and AGE was outrageous and offensive!!!
A loyal American!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, if Rove said both campaigns had gone too far — why just make the headline McCain attacks have gone too far???? I am sick of the biased by the all of the media, including Fox News.
Article Heading: Rove: McCain attacks have gone “one step too far”
Karl Rove said Sunday that both campaigns’ attacks have “gone one step too far,”
Is your heading for this article fair and balanced?? I think not!
Fox is fair and balanced??? I think not!!!
Get your act together on being fair and balanced!
Thank you,
Diane Anthe
I agree lets get to the issues and keep the campaign above reproach. Mom of 5.
[...] Rove on McCain: WALLACE: All right, and for fair game, what is McCain doing that goes a step too far? [...]
You know it’s bad when you’ve got Karl Rove questioning the integrity of your advertisements.
I wonder if Rove suggested hiring an adult to review all the lies he spread in HIS OWN attack ads… such as saying McCain had a black love-child from an adulterous interracial affair. Or McCain had been “broken” by the Viet Cong, that he was mentally unstable, etc.
Although granted, the latter one seems to be true, but the former is really an example of the grossly irresponisble and constant race-hatred coming from the far right.
We can only pray an Obama victory leads to a strong and deep de-Bush-ification of the federal government. Its the only way to prevent the right wing from succeeding in their plans to destroy America.
As far as i understood on the sex education, it was by no means supposed to introduce “sex”, but to teach young kids against predatory teenagers and adults. Something parents fail to do quite frequently… uh oh he comes uncle franky again… lol; but in all seriousness it is funny how Rove is trying to take the high-ground on this one…
carl rove knows he is to blame for the over the top antics by mccain’s camp. talking about the kettle calling the pot black. this is hililarious!
i’d like to know where is the 24/7 coverage of palin the separatist, anti american, alaskan independent party soundbites?
you people on fox news are first class racist hypocrits.
carl rove thinks he is above the law - he needs to be indicted- and fox should be boycotted!
MCCAIN WAS THE ONE WHO SAID HE WOULD BE IN IRAQ 100 YEARS..MCCAIN HAS DONE NOTHING BUT LIE ABOUT OBAMA AND HIS RECORD..FOX NEWS HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST PART OF THIS..FOX NEWS HAS HAD 10 TIMES MORE NEGITIVE NEWS REPORTS ON OBAMA THEN MCCAIN..AND HAS NOT REPORTED MCCAINS AND PALINS REAL RECORDS.
LOL!
LOL!!!!
mccain when asked how long will the troops be in iraq said on national tv which i saw with my own two eyes” i don’t know maybe 100 years” obama did not say that mccain did!
report the truth! no body is buying into fox spin anymore! the people are demanding the truth! why else would rove cowar to the media spotlight on mccain’s lies! mccain and palin are liars! more lies will come out everyday-
Karl Rove–the voice of campaign objectivity? Tell me he got religion or something…
Distorted McCains comment about being in Iraq for 100 years? I think not! That is EXACTLY what he said, in fact he said if it took 1,000 years that would be fine!
It’s not like that information / video is a hard find to prove such things. Let’s be honest, Barack is running an honorable campaign where McCain is slinging mud, lies and the furthest twists from the truth as possible in order to attack Obama while completely ignoring the issues.
It is, by far, the most pathetic campaign I have ever witnessed, I can only come to the conclusion that anyone who still votes for him after this is working against this country and has absolutely no standards for our elected officials.
I am a republican who typically votes that way, this year Obama gets my vote hands down!
Actually, Rove used this as another opportunity to further the falsehood that Sen. Obama called Sarah Palin a pig. Nor is it true that McCain cannot type.
When Rove says “too far” it means “not working.” There is no far that is too far for Rove. We saw that in the last election.
For his computer, McCain could use a voice recognition system if he wanted. Maybe it is too much of a chore for e-mail but he could surf with it. I’m not convinced that McCain couldn’t use a few fingers in one hand, and that’s all you need. He certainly glad-hands enough. However, perhaps it is uncomfortable for him and he fears appearing disabled.
All this aside, he could have been taught computer terminology so he’s familiar with everything.
You know when Karl Rove says your campaign tactics are too dishonest you have a serious problem.
I like how he details the ways in which he thinks Obama has distorted things about McCain, but then refuses to demonstrate McCain’s own distortions. Pretty stupid article.
Here is an opinion you can print out and put it on the bumper of your car because it is 100% true.
PALIN IS BUSH!
If you think Bush has done a great job as president, put my bumper sticker on your car.
If you think Bush is the worst president we ever had, put my bumper sticker on your car.
In either case, you’ll be making a political statement that is 100% true.
rove says you can’t trust fact check - he is lieing trying to confuse people and turn them from the facts, the truth is you can’t trust carl rove and the fox news or abc, cbs,nbc or cnn.but you can trust video youtube and john stwart, bill maher, and of late barbara walters, and cambell brown. the mainstream media does not report facts they have been reporting spin. trust your own eyes and ears.
i heard mccain say a person making 5 million dollars would be considered rich! i heard him i watched him.
i heard and watch him say he is divorced from the day to day activites of the american people.
listen and watch - the truth as it unfolds mccain/palin are liars - and so is carl rove - call a spade a spade!
I am tired of hearing about sexism. I am a woman voter and I know that some questions about family and ability to work should not be the issue, but remember when we asked Sen. Edwards if he was planning to continue his campaign when his wife was diagnosed with cancer? No one said that was inappropriate then. These are legitimate questions but should be phrased carefully when it comes to women, but enough is enough about shielding her. This is a strategy from the McCain campaign to stop the media from asking the real questions about Palin’s qualifications. She will be a heartbeat away from the presidency, let the media do the vetting that McCain never did.
For example, look how their ad is dishonest about how the word pretty became sexist.
Why dosn’t anyone draw attention to those buttons that the men delegates at the RNC Convention were wearing stating that Palin is “hot” and other sexist remarks. Biden pointed out that Palin is prettier than him when he was asked, but he said it in the spirit of the moment and without any disrespect. He was actually joking and denigrating his looks I wish you (Fair and Balanced Fox News) would get your hands on some of these clips during the RNC convention and would show these delegates with their comments and their buttons how Palin is a looker, hot, etc.
Please combat this false sexism charge that the McCain campaign is falsely spreading about Obama and show who is really being disrespectful. Whoever read this, please spread the word so that the media can scrutinize McCain instead of just perpetuating the negative and false ads from McCain without a counter punch. The media are playing into his hands.
…”you know, doesn’t send e-mail. Well, this is because his war injuries keep him from being able to use a keyboard. He can’t type.” I’m pretty sure he could have afforded some of the best voice recognition software available.

Barack Obama for President of the UNITED States of America.
Blog comments are a complete waste of the limited amount of time you have on this planet. Stop it this minute and go talk to a real person instead of indulging in this unreal orgy of self-sensation.
As far as the 100 years ad, McCain did later reposition himself and say that the troops would not be on the front line. However, if McCain thinks we can stay in Iraq for 100 years without casualties, he doesn’t understand the difference between Japan, Korea, and the Middle East. Obama is right- a presence in Iraq for 100 years could only be a fighting presence. I have worked in the Middle East and I know the mentality we are dealing with there. There is no way Americans can continue to have a presence (as we have in in Korea and Germany and elsewhere) and not be attacked continually.
As far as the Old Fashioned ad, it has nothing to do with war injuries. McCain himself joked that he does not understand computers or the internet. True-he can’t raise his arms above his head: I don’t know about you, but my computer is not above my head when I’m working on it. The ad makes the valid point that McCain does not understand new communicative technology and doesn’t care to. You can agree or disagree that it will affect the presidency, but the ad itself is truthful.
carl rove is playing to the media again as if serious people take him at his word? get real!
carl rove begun this hoopla with the bush administration and has continued for both bushes.
carl may speak for sean rush and o’reilly but he does not speak for me! they are banking when carl rove speaks every one listens. no way no how no mccain !
video is too easy to find. you tube is a friend to the american people- looking for the truth.
palin mccain are liars trying to dupe the american people.
they are about change? as my friend asked - change to what? exaactly what are they changing into ? more of the same! same failed policies - same lies cover ups - distortions - same health care policies, americans can’t afford i can’t afford! tax policies the rich and the corporations get the breaks middle class don’t ! education policies, schools are failing the students- foreign policy- well , let mrs mccain speak to that one - alaska is next to russia so palin has foreign policy experience - any way it does not matter mccain wants to bomb, bomb, bomb everybody. Let’s not forget he and palin and randy scheuemann are ” ALL GEORGIANS”
mccain/palin - true liars
Bravo for Karl Rove. Both campaigns are over the top. Lets see a little CIVILTY, gentlemen.
To Schmec: factcheck.org is funded by the Annenberg foundation. Yes, this is the same Annenberg foundation that raised $40M for Obama’s Chicago Annenberg Challenge, met with $60M in other funds. However, recall that Walter Annenberg, who left this money, was a conservative. My review of factcheck.org has revealed significant liberal bias. I took random article sames and the vast majority had bias. Here is an example of a random article that I sent to the editors at Factcheck.org:
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/rezko_reality.html
This article seems less factual than it could be. For example, here is an excerpt:
——-
On the defensive over the extent of multiple McCain homes, the GOP candidate strikes back. But his TV spot gives an oversimplified and misleading account of how Obama bought his own $1.6 million house in Chicago.
* The ad says Chicago power broker Tony Rezko got “political favors” including “$14 million from taxpayers.” But there’s no evidence of any connection to the Obama home purchase. The $14 million was to build apartments for low-income seniors. Obama wrote a letter supporting the “worthy” project, but both men say Rezko didn’t ask for the letter.
* It says Rezko “purchased part of the property [Obama] couldn’t afford.” Rezko’s wife did buy an adjoining tract but later sold the land at a profit. Obama paid market price for his home.
—
This article does not give price paid both by Rezko’s wife and the Obamas for each piece of land. It also cleverly disguizes the fact that Rezko’s wife sold the track of land to Obama. Examine the tone of the writing, even just the first sentence (”On the defensive…”). Unbiased? Factual? It could have been written by an Obama staffer.
There has been a consistent bias in your articles. For example, inaccuracies of the Obama camp are called “inaccuracy” but inaccuracies in favor of McCain are often categorized as “lies” or “deliberate.” You can find multiple examples for yourself; they are all over factcheck.org
FactCheck.Org touts itself as non-partisan. However, it is inevitable that the people who write the columns will be political and personally biased; it is inevitable that the person deciding what facts to check and how hard to check them will be personally biased in this polarizing race. If you are not going to present valid opposing views of each article, researched by earnest supporters of each candidate that you employ, then your articles will be inevitably biased. If you stand for impartial truth, the fact that individual authors are affected by personal bias should be prominently acknowledged on the site on the front page, so as not to misadvertise the service that you provide. If you are setting yourselves up to police politicians without providing multiple viewpoints, and want to pass off your assertions as fact, the questions must be asked: who is policing you? I ask in a spirit of improving your service to the community rather than in an accusatory fashion; a truly non-biased or at least balanced factcheck site would be a boon to America, and personally helpful to me.
fact check: mccain can not use a computer and does not know how to send an email that is a fact stated by mccain himself!
i agree with matt sulfen too far is rovian for not working ! that is why he is now exploiting mccain to change the dynamics of the game, he and the republicans play!

Accusing Karl (with a K, stupid) Rove of misconduct, while supporting the friend of a terrorist, race-baiting preacher, and a proven liar. Accusing the right of nasty campaign tactics while participating in a campaign of Palin-smear and sending out cut-throat lawyers and biased media minions to destroy another human being. Accusing the right of race-baiting when their own candidate called his grandmother a racist and threw her under the bus…..along with anybody else that dare to disagree with him. Oh, and Fox..you’re title is biased and misleading! CHANGE IT!
Carl Rove’s revelation today that McCain’s e-mail ignorance is the result of war injuries affecting his ability to type doesn’t give him a “pass.” I don’t know whether McCain can actually type or not, but if it’s true he certainly found a way around that disability when it was in his interest to do so, such as when he wrote his autobiography. Therefore, his alleged disability shouldn’t be accepted as an excuse for being uninformed about issues regarding the internet. Further, if McCain is in fact too physically impaired to be properly engaged in the numerous important issues involving the internet -net neutrality, privacy, national security, etc. - then maybe he’s too impaired to be President.
MR ROVE,
WHEN YOU HAVE A CANDIDATE WHO SAYS, “”"I DIDN’T KNOW MY SPRITUAL LEADER HAD THOSE VIEWS??…HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH SOME ONE LIKE THAT? OBAMAS LACK OF JUDGMENT IS JUST ONE.. AND THE WILLNESS TO COMPROMISE TRUTH.

I believe that the Democrats’ use of prevaricating, negative atacks in the campaign is deliberate and will not diminish. They are designed to draw McCain and Palin into a personality fight that the media will exploit. That will take the spotlight off of Obama’s main weakness, his shallow inexperience and unfitness as an informed, decisive and principled leader. The GOP should avoid the trap and focus on his underlying weakness in relation to crucially important issues.
On teaching ’sex education’ in kindergarten I believe that the intent is not teach toddlers what they are not yet prepared to understand, but to to make them aware of their vulnerability to pedophiles and other perverts that seem to lurk everywhere and to help defend them. What a travesty that as a society we allow such perversion to flourish and therefore create the need to rob the little ones of their trusting innocence. Instead, the perversion should be dealt with directly with harsh measures. In any case this sensitizing of the toddlers should not be carried out in the public schools. It should be done privately with the individual child by his or her parents and pediatricians.
On Obama’s ‘lipstick’ remark, whether consciously deliberate or not, it ws a safe remark for him to make as it could not offend his allied liberal ‘feminists.’ They don’t wear lipstick since they strive to be androgynous.

Fox you are trying mislead the voters. First Obama add was stating the truth. The add was not attacking McCain on not being able to use a key board but the fact that he can’t use the computer. Their are many people out their that has problems with their hands and fingers that know how to use the computer. The add was about McCain being out of touch with today’s time. My 6 year old knows how to use a computer to some degree. How can you possibly take the highest office in the land and don’t know the basics of a cmputer. To me that definetly shows that you are out of touch with majority of the people. I will not vote for McCain/Palin not only due to him being out of touch but mostly due to his dishonest, disrespectful approach in his campaign. Respect me as an American and let me make up my mind without the lies. Everytime McCain and Palin open there mouth the past few weeks it has been nothing but lies. I will vote for OBAMA (Independent Voter).
Wow! Obama said McCain doesn’t know how to use a computer or send an e-mail, yet that simply wasn’t the truth?!? McCain cannot physically use a computer because his injuries left his fingers not able to type. That is horribly disrespectful towards John McCain. Obama should be utterly ashamed!
The character which Obama portrays when he speaks unscripted and the way his body language is when he speaks (his prideful swaggering while walking, head jerks, etc..) is very immature and not up to par of that which a president should be.
A president should not be prideful, arrogant, ignorant, and/or disrespectful! These are all the attributes Obama has. How could we possibly elect a man whom is like this? It is disturbing to think that people have looked past all of this and still like the guy.
Before you get into it over the teaching sex education to Kindergardeners maybe you should research just what was going to be taught. It wasn’t just how to protect themselfs from preditors. Hanity had it on his show and was talked over and the dems would not let him read it but from what he could say it held language we as adults would find offinsive so what was it about?
Evan, McCain is not losing votes. Can not you see the recent polls? He is gaining is all of them. What planet are you on?
Talk about one sided and narrow minded. Comment by BC your comment above is ridiculous, you stated that the media is one sided and you are also one sided. The American people are attacking McCain because of his constant lies and the media is tired of the lies (about time). Obviously, you don’t know how to check out the facts for yourself, because if you did you would relize that the McCain/Palin camp are constantly lying. However, the worst thing of all is people like you is falling for it. Wake up! If you are not going to vote for Obama because he is black then just say so. Let’s stop lying to ourselves that Obama race is not the major factor as to why a lot of people are just looking the other way at all the McCain/Palin lies. We are not voting for School President, we are voting for the President of the United States. The highest position in the land. This election can crush our great country for years to come. Wake up America do not let race be a factor. For the record I will not vote for someone that simply can’t tell the truth in McCain/Palin. This not suppose to be a win at all cost election where lying and misleading get you in the white house.

I think it would be better if both sides saved their money and stopped the ads completely.
What good does it do anyway?

Ten Things You Should Know About John McCain
1. John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has “evolved,” yet he’s continued to oppose key civil rights laws.
2. According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain “will make Cheney look like Gandhi.”
3. His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.
4. McCain opposes a woman’s right to choose. He said, “I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned.”
5. The Children’s Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children’s health care bill last year, then defended Bush’s veto of the bill.
6. He’s one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a “second job” and skip their vacations.
7. Many of McCain’s fellow Republican senators say he’s too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He’s erratic. He’s hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.”
8. McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.
9. McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his “spiritual guide,” Rod Parsley, believes America’s founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a “false religion.” McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church “the Antichrist” and a “false cult.”
10. If John McCain were to win the presidency, he would be the oldest man elected to a first term.
1. Thou shall not bear false witness
2. Thou shall not commit adultery
How many more commandments will McCain break before he’s done?
Also- the reason the headline reads as it does is because, while both campaigns have gone too far, McCain’s adds are the ones that don’t pass the “100% truth test”.
The varnish of John McCain’s straight talk has been removed! Now watch him be exposed for what he is a calculating politician with an insatiable desire to win. Hey, wait a minute isn’t that what conservatives said about Obama? McCain will say and do anything to win.
I am not sure why mr. Rove is coming out like this–because steve Schmidt is only doing for McCain what Mr. Rove did for Bush with the swift boat lies–mayhe he has had a change of heart…or this could be a trick.

John McCain can raise his arms, in fact there are numerous photos of it from the convention and from his rallies. This is nothing but another fabrication (read: lie).
In addition, there are ergonomic keyboards and specially equipped keyboards for people who have no use of their arms at all. Moreover, it is not necessary to raise your arms at all to use a keyboard. You can put it your lap.
