Palin Practices Tonight’s Speech

St. Paul, Minn.–

Governor Sarah Palin did a walk-through of the Xcel Center stage this morning. After not being seen by the press since before she landed in the Twin Cities she surprised the morning shows by walking up to the podium to practive her speech.

Flanked by McCain campaign manager Rick Davis and McCain advisor Nicolle Wallace she tested audio and practiced reading the very top of her speech.

Wearing a beige skirt suit and her hair up, Palin avoided most questions except how she was feeling to which she answered, “I feel great. I’m excited!”

Initially, she looked passed the press crowded below the stage at the teleprompter and ignored questions including where she has been the last 2 days.

As for any clue to her speech tonight the first sentence and a half was on the teleprompter:

“Delegates and alternates I’m pleased to welcome you back. Our thoughts and…

Fox News has also learned that Palin and Senator Joe Lieberman met with members of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee yesterday. AIPAC lobbies on behalf of the U.S.-Israel relationship. The meeting lasted between 25 and 45 minutes and she reinforced her support for Senator McCain’s Israel policy. AIPAC spokesperson Josh Block described the meeting, “We had a good productive discussion on the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship and we were pleased that Gov. Palin expressed her deep, personal
commitment to the safety and well-being of Israel.” Block said, “She also expressed her support for special friendship between the two democracies and said she would work to deepen the ties between the United States and Israel.”

Block added that they were “pleased that both parties have selected four pro-Israel candidates.”

Besides preparing for tonight’s speech, Palin will greet Senator McCain on the tarmac when he arrives in the Twin Cities today.

I think gov Palin can use the media coverage of her daughter to her advantage. this just makes her a real person, facing real issues that hundreds of thousands of parents face in todays times.
she can tell all those parents how she identifies with them and their real concerns, how to make sure your pregnant teen finishes highschool, continues on with college, gets day care for her infant, gets health insurance for her infant. The concerns are real and felt by people everywhere on every level.

Obama camp is running scared. Can’t think of anything truthful that would disqualify McCain or Palin as leaders of our country so they must resort to fabrications.

Lets go positive in campaigning. This will be quite a challenge for Obama we know. How about if Obama/Biden list (honestly) their qualifications and the dem platform and McCain/Palin do the same. Will there even be a contest? I think not.

Lets do the same with supporters. Let Obama/Biden supporters list what they think their candidates qualifications are and what they say they will do for the people and our country and McCain/Palin supporters list their candidates qualifications what they know they will do for the country and people.

We know this will extremely one-sided; the direction to be defined as to whether one is patriot or traitor.

I can hardly wait to finally get to hear her speak out.

Glad to hear Sara is hold up. She is a strong woman and I hope we can all look past the foolishness and get to the issues. The press will not win this battle. We woman will show them that their sexism will have a “reverse” effect. They will be sorry. Perhaps next election they will be fair and balanced.

Sarah Palin -

I salute you and all your efforts, your energy expended. - Your choice to stand up and take the criticism that you know will always come when “rocking the boat.” Who is better qualified to do this than a woman who has weathered the storms and continues to weather the unexpected storms that come when raising children and allowing them to grow up and make their own choices, knowing that they will make some mistakes, (some big and some small). We as women are in the position to give our offspring the responsiblity they need to resolve those mistakes themselves with a little input, as we continue to allow them to grow. It is extremely difficult to carry out as anyone knows who has been there and is honest about it. It requires tenacity, grit and determination from within and strength from above! If we are honest and adult, we can admit that we all deal with this in our lives, every one of us both in our personal lives and those of our children.

Where are the adults out there? Will we please stand up and take this same responsibility for our own actions. When we point our finger at the other we are generally pointing it back to ourselves. I hope those in the media that do this finger pointing for whatever their reason will consider this when selling their souls and the souls of others’ for the sake of ???????????????-well–we can all answer this.

Please let Sarah know that our prayers and hearts are with her as she prepares and delivers this speech. However, she could literally fall down and she still has our votes. Because of her, I am no longer just a viewing Republican, but a card carrying Republican. She need not worry about the gossip attacks. We know how to circle the wagons around our own and she is one of us!

The Huffington Post is blowing up with an article a second it seems trying to slight Palin.

Tonight is a big night for her, the GOP and the election in general.

Preparing for Palin

Comment by Steve

The Republicans must bring up the Obama family belonging to the Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years and the hate America and white race it stood for.

That is more important then her daughter being pregnant.

Comment by Douglas Gray

Personal attacks against Gov. Paulin have gone too far! I am all for tough questions, but bringing her pregnant duaghter up as a character issue is out of line. The attack strategy has pushed me to the point that my mind is now closed to considering Obama. Even activists shown know when to draw the line. I guess this is one of the costs we pay for Free Speech.

Please correct the gramatical error in the report on Palin’s practice speech this morning.
It is not fitting to have such an error in a report.

“Initially, she looked passed the press crowded below the stage at the teleprompter and ignored questions including where she has been the last 2 days.”

. . . she looked past . . .

Thank you,

Sande

Practice makes perfect, especially when you are reading the words and thoughts of speech writers.
I am sure they have a really “kool” speech for her to deliver tonight, and with the way she delivers babies, she might be a little early.
Too bad, she seems like a nice person, but just has a dysfunctional life and family.
Cannot wait to see if you post my comments, you never do Fox/McCain news, but at least I have had the opportunity to vent.

Sara Palin was an active member of a fringe Alaskan policial party urging its right to secede from the United States

It has been reported by London’s Guardian that Sara Palin has been an active member of a political party that urges “Alaska First”, in contrast to John McCain’s slogan “country first.” Her allegiances may be to further Alaska’s interests above those of the United States. The Guardian article stated:

“Palin was a member of the Alaskan Independence party (AIP) before becoming an elected Republican official, according to party members, and recorded a video message for the AIP convention this year. The AIP’s chief goal is securing Alaska a vote on seceding from the US, a goal that party leaders believe the state was denied before it became part of the US almost 50 years ago.”

The AIP’s motto, “Alaska First, Alaska Always”, is the central theme of their platform.

Here is the goal of the Alaskan Independence Party:

“The Alaskan Independence Party’s goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:

1) Remain a Territory.
2) Become a separate and Independent Nation.
3) Accept Commonwealth status.
4) Become a State.

The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party’s founding father, Joe Vogler, which was for Alaskans to achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences.”

We cannot afford to have a VP of the United States who is so radical in her politics that she would cheer on a political party that actually endorses the break down of the United aspect of the United States!

I thought that for Joe Lieberman to back McCain was a very impressive act. Yes, he certainly did cross party lines & we need more gutsy people in our government to do the same.Who knows he may eventually switch parties or just become & independent. Look at President Ronald Reagan. He was a democrat & switched parties, very smart move on his part & it showed courage. I think that most people are like me where they are absolutely discouraged with our “so called leaders ” & the two party system. I am actually looking forward to hear Palin’s speech tonight. She has more experieince that Obama does to begin with. When will the politicians realize that we are all fed up with their bs.

Why would the democratic party run a one-term junior senator from Illinois for president?

She needs to call it quits and go take care of her family. Believe me, they need her. I say that will all sincerity. McCain can then select Romney and they will win by at least a 15% margin and will win every battle ground state.

I urge all women to watch tonight’s speech by Govenor Palin. Not only is she the 1st female on the slate by Republicans, but mother of 5 and a successful Govenor with an approval rating that’s off the charts. This election will be challenging for not only the undecided voters, but many women will undoubtedly question her abilities to be a mother, soon-to-be grandmother, wife and Vice Presidential nominee.

I have been a long time Republican voter regarding White House races, but Hillary Clinton’s show of charachter and fortitude gave me reason to hope she would win her party’s nomination. I would have voted for her, as no one on the campaign trail has ever worked harder nor shown the same determination and convictions. But since her own party couldn’t support her, and voiced more support for the candidate who has proven his eloquence, but not much else, I whole heartedly endorse the McCain/Palin ticket.

I’m tiring of the Media’s relentless efforts to bring up snaffus in one’s lifetime, as if they mattered. How on earth would a 20-yr-old DUI of a spouse matter? If it does, Kennedy should step aside until once again we ask for answers about Chappaquiddick, or ties to government bombers and why doesn’t the IRS investigate the black pulpit’s raging about politics.

Comment by jonjon

All the practice in the world won’t convince me she’s qualified. If she can’t control her own family, what makes people think she could be ready to step into the president’s shoes if need be??

I’m not a nitpicker, but please! The typos and mispellings in this piece beg comment.
“walking up to the podium to practive her speech”
“she looked passed the press crowded below the stage at the teleprompter ”
“As for any clue to her speech tonight the first sentence and a half was on the teleprompter”

Basic english. I expect more from fox. This isn’t excellence by any standard and I’m a fox fan. Recommend some writing and english lessons for this reporter.

well, bush aides wrote the speech for her - and she has to practice all night long - i can read a speech someone else wrote for me. - how can we get to know her if she doesn’t speak in her own words - also, she is being tutored by bush aides on foreign policy - i’d say she is a puppet - not a strong woman with her own views

This is a great Governor, and the perfect choice for America. After tonight the democratic party will have NOTHING to turn to but rumor and lies, because they won’t be able to deal with the substance she’s about to put on the table.

It is about time we got a real person running for such a great office. As a woman, wife for 40 + years, mom and grandma, I think the only reason those men are out there running scared is because they are men. I think it is about time we got some one in office that understands what real people want. Politicians do not need airpalanes and 1000.00 lunches. If they can’t get their jobs done at work or over coffee then perhaps they aren’t quailified to begin with.
Way to go McCain, a better choice you could not have made
Sarah , go get them

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!a fellow reformer, someone who speaks up for the people, both women and men who have families and work, and who going to be the next VP of the US, serving with a stalwart for change, John McCain. I’m so excited and pleased with his pick, what an elevation for ALL women, especially for Christian women. All the rubbish the liberals have tried to throw on her, just gives her fuel for her candidacy, and I know it will just backfire on them, as she will show in her speech, tonight. This is her “window of opportunity”, as Obama said, and I truly believe she has prepared herself, well. She gives the women of the US an opportunity to finally show this nation and the world, exactly what women can do, when given the opportunity. My desire is for the women of the US to unite behind her , elect her and McCain so that we can truly move forward by putting families and country first. I would truly know where I could find some WORKING WOMEN FOR McCAIN AND PALIN signs, I’de put them in every nook and cranny I could find.

she needs to teach her daughter to PRACTICE safe sex. babies having babies

I do not understand what the big fuzz is all about concerning Governor Palin. In her, I see a human being, a mother, a wife, a professional. A person that is not afraid to face her problems and deal with them, not give her back and pretend that they do not exist.
Palin just had a baby with Down Syndrome, she new that this was a possibility but she decided to go forward and have this baby, to love him and take care of him. She did not run away from this situation putting her needs before the babies. The same thing is happening now with her daughter. This mother is willing to be there for her daughter and help her. What is done is done, now she is facing the situation and dealing with it.
She is a family woman with values and I like that. I have great respect for this lady.
We live in a world were people hide and some times end up giving their backs to their loved once because of what others will say or think if they found out of a specific problem or situation.
This woman is demonstrating us that she is not different from us, that she has a family that is not perfect but she loves them and is willing to be there for them in the good time and in the bad as well, that she values and loves them. In her I see a working mother that is going through the same situation as many of us do day in and day out, dealing with teenagers and their problems, dealing with a son in the military service in time of war, dealing with a new born that has special need, a husband, a house and a job.
How many politicians can multi task like that?

I’m a bit worried about the McCain/Palin energy policy. (Especially drilling in ANWR) I think that one of the best things we can do is support ‘green’ business. For example, http://www.simplestop.net stops your postal junk mail and benefits the environment.

Comment by Steve Dissin

I feel that since she made no mention, early on of her unwed 17 year old daughter’s unprepared pregnancy, is she actually condoning unwed motherhood & teenage preganancy? Is this sending a wrong message to all young people that a person of noteriety & in the public picture ( possible VP candidate) that’s it’s OK to be young, unwed & pregnant. I don’t think we want that for our children to identify with. If she has no control over her kids, how is she going to control things in the White House. Can she be President Pro Tempe of the senate?, Can she make decisions that will have no flashback. ( “Spiro T Who?,) remember him? I believe McCain made the wrong decision, he chose her, to back up his lack of luster in his campaign. Ms. Palin may be outgoing & bubbly, but she’s no Joe Biden. With McCain & Palin in the White House, it would be likre having Chester A Arthur as President again.
