I am really disappointed in the Fox News convention coverage so far. I’m a Republican but thought the coverage of the Democratic convention was sort of amateur, always digging for the Hillary/Obama fighting and those type of side “personality” issues. It bordered on having an outfit like the National Enquirer or Access Hollywood serving up the news. Now you guys are hammering on the whole issue of Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy - if Obama’s classy enough to make it off limits how come you guys won’t leave it alone. Your slogan of “fair and balanced” is still intact though, you are equally smarmy regarding both of the parties. If I want real news I guess I’ll have to go elsewhere - like maybe the News Hour on PBS.

I do not believe that a DUI that occured twenty-two years ago or her daughter’s current pregnancy should have any impact on the potential vice president’s ability or has any relevance in politics. The media should try to portray Governor Palin as the political leader she is rather than exploiting her family and their hardships to create hype. Governor Palin is not characterized by her family’s actions only by her own.

But the news of the day on the webpage of the news channel with statistically the most uninformed viewers is that McCain donated $25,000 to Gustav areas and Biden was critical of McCain’s policies. Which would be about $1 in ratio to the average American yearly wages.

I am a McCain supporter but, regardless of the party, it seems to me that the children of candidates should be off limits. Governor Palin should not be criticized for what her teenage children do. If this is an issue, isn’t Obama’s “sins” as a young man of doing cocaine, crack, and “getting a blow” as often as possible up for scrutiny? Questions have never been answered by Obama 1) Did he sell drugs? Specifically cocaine and crack? 2) When did he stop using drugs? (Some have suggested after he was in elected office in Illinois).

Equally for a 17 year old girl to become pregnant - is that still more shameful than doing hard drugs for years as Obama has admitted to as a teenager and young adult?

The Palins are just a great example of a solid American family! Who hasn’t had such stuff to deal with? Give us a break, please! It’s so refreshing to see the honesty of such real people and not the veneer which is so typical of too many legislators today. My family and friends and everyone we’ve spoken to are wildly enthusiastic about Sarah Palin, her demonstrated competence, wisdom and moral integrity rooted in faith and her raw courage to take on the established ruling class who think they own the legal process in this country and that it’s there to make themselves and their friends rich at the expense of the overburdened taxpayer!

I think the media has had a big enough field day with the Governor’s daughter and the Governor. This is a family issue that should be strictly off limits. I am glad that the Governor and her husband is giving love and support to their daughter during this time. There was a time in this country that a pregnant daughter would be driven away to a home for unwed mothers. No one is immune from dealing with a pregnancy issue. It is not a low, middle or upper income issue. It happens and everyone should have the privacy to deal with this family issue. politicians are no different. Ever since Governor Palin was selected the media has been non-stop to find anything to discredit her. Give her a fair chance. Maybe if the media would concentrate on the positive more than the negative I might have more respect for them. I am a Democrat voter however, I personnally would like to hear what the Governor has to say. From what I have read she has an impressive record. I can’t believe that they are bringing up an incident over 20 years ago. Obama admitted to doing weed and a little Cocaine during his younger years, and I’m sure it was quite a while ago. But I do have a problem with the fact that you can not become a FBI agent if you have done drugs, but you can become president. Prior to now, a person could not even become an FBI agent if they had done drugs at a time over 10 years ago. So, I can’t see how anyone can criticize anyone about that in this election.

Who isn’t human?  The Palins are a normal family.  Who hasn’t done things at 22 they regreted and learned from? That was over 20 years ago.  And I was pregnant at 15- I’ve been married for over 38 years to my husband who was 17 at the time.  Sarah has been good news for the state of Alaska.  I’m proud to call her our Governor and would be proud to call her our Vice President.  She and her family are  like everyone else.  There has not been a perfect person in 2000 years.  Give them a break- and some respect!

Gov. Palen I feel is making a grave mistake in running for Vice President. She already has a 4mo old downs baby requiring special needs and knowing that her 17 yr. old daughter is pregnant and still choosing to run is very alarming. I am a mother of a 17 yr. old who also got prgnant and had the baby and married the father and all of those kids needed alot of time and attention. She is only 44 yr old and has many years left in politics,she does not have that kid of time with her kids. Her children need her right now much more than the U.S. I pray that she will see this. As an undecided I know that I will now vote for Obama in the hopes that Gov. Palen loses and goes home where she is needed.

If your husband’s receiving a DUI when you were 22 would disqualify Mrs. Palin as a VP candidate, how many others on Capitol Hill would similarly be disqualified because they or a spouse had done something similar as a young person?
