McCain talks Palin on Fox News Sunday

As Democrats slam his new runningmate as unprepared for the Oval Office, Sen. McCain defended Palin’s experience and readiness during his interview with Fox News Sunday. Referring to her as a “soulmate,” McCain argued that her executive experience makes her more qualified for the presidency than Barack Obama.

Apart of the exchange below:

CHRIS WALLACE: Let’s start with your choice of a running mate. Of all the people you could have chosen, of all the Republican leaders you’ve known for years, great thought, can you honestly say that Sarah Palin is the best person to put a heartbeat away from the presidency?

MCCAIN: Oh, yes. She’s a — she’s a partner and a soul-mate. She — she’s a reformer. I don’t particularly enjoy the label “maverick,” but when somebody takes on the old bulls in her own party, runs against an incumbent governor of her own party, stands up against the oil and gas interests — I mean, they really are so vital to the economy of her — of the state of Alaska. I mean, it’s remarkable. It’s a remarkable person.

And I’ve watched her record, and I’ve watched her for many, many years as she — as she implemented ethics and lobbying reforms. And I mean, she led. She didn’t just vote for it. She led it. I’ve seen her take on her own party.

Look, one thing I know is that when you take on your own party in Washington, you pay a price for it. You do. You pay a price for it. And she’s taken on the party in her own state. She takes on — she took on a sitting governor and defeat him — defeated him.

And so I’ve — I’m so pleased and proud, because this — this is a person who will help me reform Washington and change the way they do business. And that’s what Americans want.

WALLACE: But let me ask you…

MCCAIN: Sure.

WALLACE: … about the concerns that a lot of voters, who haven’t heard of Sarah Palin before yesterday, are asking. Compared to, say, Tom Ridge or Joe Lieberman, why is Governor Palin superior in dealing with national security and foreign policy?

MCCAIN: Look, those people you talk about, Joe, Tom Ridge and Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee, they’re wonderful people. And I’m grateful for the opportunity that I’ve had to know them and work with them.

But look, what this brings is — is a spirit of reform and change that is vital now in our nation’s capital. Eighty-four percent of the American people think the country’s on the wrong track. In our party, we have corruption. We have former members of Congress residing in federal prison. So it’s not surprising to me that — that we’ve seen an incredible invigoration around our party and around the nation. Not just Republicans, but Democrats.

And by the way, in the last day and a half, or whatever it’s been, we have raised $4 million on the Internet. I wish I’d have taken her a month ago.

WALLACE: But you have said that the existential threat we face…

MCCAIN: Sure.

WALLACE: … the threat to our existence is from Islamic terrorism. Foreign policy is Job 1 for the commander in chief.

MCCAIN: Sure.

WALLACE: You have criticized Obama as being, quote, “dangerously unprepared to be president.” In the sense of national security and foreign policy specifically, isn’t Sarah Palin even more dangerously unprepared?

MCCAIN: Oh, no. Look, she’s got — she’s got the right judgment. She’s got the right judgment. She doesn’t think, like Senator Obama does, that Iran is a minor irritant. She knows that the surge worked and succeeded, and she supported that. Senator Obama still — still to this day refuses to acknowledge that the surge has succeeded. She’s been commander in chief of the Alaska Guard, that has served back and back (ph). In fact, as you know, she’s got a son who’s — who’s getting ready to go.

But she’s had the judgment on these issues. And if Senator Obama has not had — he’s had all the wrong judgments. And Governor Palin understands these issues, and she understands the challenges that we face.

So she’s had 12 years of elective office experience, including traveling to Kuwait, including being involved in these issues. And look, I’m so proud that she has displayed the kind of judgment and she has the experience and judgment as an executive. She’s run a huge economy up there in the state of Alaska. Twenty percent of our energy comes from the state of Alaska, and energy is obviously one of the key issues for our nation — national security.

WALLACE: But Senator, you talked about her years of experience. Ten of those years were as a city councilwoman and mayor of a town of 9,800 people. And in terms of foreign policy, in March of 2007, after — two months after the surge had started, she was asked about it, and she said, “I’ve been focused on state government. I haven’t focused on the war in Iraq.” Understandable for a governor; not understandable for a vice president.

MCCAIN: Well, by the way, also she was a member of the PTA. I think it’s wonderful. But the point is she’s been to Kuwait. She’s been over there. She’s been with her troops. The National Guard that she commands, who had been over there and had the experience. I’m proud of her knowledge of these challenges and issues.

And of course, as governor she has had enormous responsibilities, none of which Senator Obama had. He — when she was in government, he was a community organizer. When she was taking tough positions against her own party, Senator Obama was voting “president” 130 times in the state legislature, on every tough issue that ever was, while she was taking them on. That’s the kind of judgment that I’m confident that we need in Washington.

WALLACE: For people who aren’t persuaded, at least initially in the first 24 hours, about her experiences, especially on foreign policy, doesn’t this raise even more concerns about your age?

MCCAIN: I don’t know. Look, it was an issue in the primary, as you know. I’ve got to show them the vigor. I’ve got to show them the energy. I’ve got to show them the judgment. I’ve got to show them that my experience and knowledge qualifies me to lead. And what we are finding out in recent days in a couple of weeks is an increasingly dangerous world. But most importantly, I know how to get the jobs back and get our economy going again. But I’ve got to show them that. I understand that.

But I also think that you’ve got the next generation of leadership of America who is committed to good government, to ethics. A wonderful family. A belief in the future of America. Look, I’m so excited about this — this person, Governor Palin, I can’t tell you. And her family is marvelous, also.

WALLACE: The choice of a running mate is the first presidential-level decision that you’ve made. Why shouldn’t we think that this is really about politics, about reaching out to women, especially to Hillary Clinton supporters?

MCCAIN: Well, I think that I had to do what I think is best for the future of the country. That’s the point here. And I think, by any parameter of judgment, given the economic difficulties that we’re facing today, especially on jobs and health care and insurance, these are issues: health insurance and education, these are the issues that, really, Americans are most concerned about.

Americans are concerned about our nation’s security. And I think she has exercised and shown the judgment to address those issues. But she also understands the fact that people in America are sitting down at the kitchen table this morning, as we speak, and saying, “How are we going to stay in our homes? How are we going to keep our health insurance? How are we going to educate our kids?” And some of them have just lost their jobs.

So I think Governor Palin is uniquely — as a governor, she’s had executive experience. She didn’t sit in the state legislature. She didn’t vote just with her party and go along to get along. Senator Obama has never taken on the leaders of his party on any issue. You tell me a time when he has. She’s — she’s been an independent spirit that’s taken them on at every opportunity.

WALLACE: Whether this was the reason or not, do you think she will help you with women and especially with disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters?

MCCAIN: I think she’s going to help me with all Americans. I think that the response that we’re getting from men, women, young, old, because they want us to change America. They want us to change it. They — they’re sick and tired of business as usual and inside the beltway kind of thing.

You know, one commentator said, “She’s never been on ‘Meet the Press’.”

WALLACE: I didn’t say that.

MCCAIN: Well, I hope she’s — I hope she’s on your — I hope that she’s on your program first.

No, she doesn’t live inside the beltway. She doesn’t — she and her husband don’t go to the Georgetown cocktail parties. But they do live a life of a wonderful family. He’s — they’ve had a small business that — they are just really good, down-to-earth people who understand the challenges that we face.

So in all due respect to my friends that say that she’s never been on some of the inside-the-beltway activities, I say thank God.

WALLACE: Let me see if I’ve got the chronology straight…

MCCAIN: Sure.

WALLACE: … that people are submitting (ph). As I understand it, you met her for the first time at the governor’s conference in…

MCCAIN: We had breakfast.

WALLACE: … in February.

MCCAIN: Yes.

WALLACE: You talked to her on the phone last Sunday. And you met with her face to face — face to face for the first time to discuss the vice-presidential ticket Thursday morning, and then you offered her the job. Must have been a heck of a meeting.

MCCAIN: Well, the fact is, I’ve been watching her. I mean, look, what she’s been doing in Alaska — let’s have some straight talk — has affected the representation in Washington, D.C.

We’ve fought against, frankly, the same adversaries, the same challenges.

We couldn’t get the bridge to nowhere out, although we tried — people like Tom Colburn…

WALLACE: Which was the big pork barrel project.

MCCAIN: Yes, the pork barrel project — a $233 million bridge in Alaska to an island with 50 people on it.

She, as governor, stood up and said, “We don’t need it. And if we need it, we’ll pay for it ourselves.”

Now, that’s — that’s guts.

I saw that, and I said, this — this is what we need in Washington.

What worries me most about Palin is her environmental policy (especially regarding drilling in the ANWR). I think it is evermore important for us, as consumers to support ‘green businesses’ that benefit the environment. For example, http://www.simplestop.net stops your postal junk mail and benefits the environment.

It is truly hard to believe that McCain is playing with a” full deck of cards”. He is comparing Palin to Clinton and Obama on experience? The man is dilusional. he has been riding on his war hero background too long. And the media, especially Fox News, just keeps on pandering to him. There are some smart Republicans. What could they be thinking putting this crazy old man in the presidencial arena? And worse we have citizens old enough to vote that don’t pay attention to the issues. they just read or hear a little and think they know it all. If you asked them if they went on to the candidates websites to find out the truth, most of them didn’t take the time, they just repeat a bunch of rubbish. It is time Americans start paying attention to whom they are voting for.If they did maybe we could get out of this mess our country is in

Sarah Palin, has my vote. She is a pleasant breath of air. I would trust my life with her in a situation where security was an issue. She does have the experience and the knowledge for the ticket. I’m sure by November she will shame some people on Foreign Policy. She certainly will have a good teacher. I hear it only takes a week over there to learn Everything. Or was that 2 weeks..
Sarah Palin will make us proud, I have the upmost faith in her.

God Bless America.

Great responses to some tough questions, Senator McCain. And, for anyone now pouncing on Palin’s perceived inexperience, where were you when Obama was running to be the nominee of the Democratic Party? In fact, where are you currently asking the same questions of Obama? It all rings hollow to be dredging it up now. Obviously, experience is not the most important context of this election cycle. We Hillary voters got that when Obama accepted the nomination. And, between the President and VP, I much prefer experience at the top of the ticket, not the bottom.

He says we have corruption in the republican party, and he’s going to fix it… with a staff full of lobbyists???

I am so glad that McCain chose Palin. I think she’s a wonderful pick. I can’t wait to see what happens as the months of this race march on. I think the Obama/Biden camp are pretty jealous over this one! They don’t know what to do! They’ve been pretty silent since Friday morning too. They are probably organizing “war rooms” all over the nation to try to discredit a true American who stands up for the little guy! That’s what veteran politicians do, not agents of CHANGE!

What a serial liar McCain is. He’s been following her career, give me a break, he talked to her once and that was it. He was told to pick her by the party big wigs. They needed a pro life candiate or they would lose the votes of the Christian Coalition zealots who want to take the world over in the name of Christianity. McCain and Sarah = dumber than Ellie Mae and Jethro Clampet!

The Experience Issue:

Sarah Palin: 12 years of elected government service, including 8 as an executive decision maker and 0 years in Washington, D.C. (1992-1996 Wasilla City Council, 1996-2002 Mayor of Wasilla, 2006-2008 Governor Of Alaska)

Barack Obama: 12 years of elected government service, including 4 years in Washington, D.C. and 0 years as an executive decision maker. (1997-2004 Illinois State Senator, 2004-2008 Junior US Senator from Illinois)

Overall, the levels of government experience are very similar. Palin’s edge is her experience as an executive decision maker. Obama’s edge is, “knowing the ropes,” in Washington, D.C. But both candidates have very thin resumes and would be doing a lot of, “on the job,” training.

Obama and Palin are both impressive rising stars, each in their own party, but neither is ready for the oval office. Despite the argument that the VP needs to, “be ready just in case,” it is very likely that the person on the bottom of the ticket will have years for learning before ever having to sit in the hot seat. But the person at the top of the ticket has to be ready on Day One.

And now only John McCain can credibly claim that ability.

Comment by M.D.Bowen

Wish you could have had more, Palin is the most refreshing thing to happen in politics in my life time.

What a serial liar! He has been following her career in Alaska, give us a break. And the part of her being in charge of the Alaska National Guard is even more pathetic. THe Maverick is finished! He was told to pick a pro-life VP or he would lose the vote of the Christian Coalition religious zealots who want to conquer the Middle East in the name of Christ. This will go down as the biggest farce in political history. McCain and Sarah in the White House, why don’t we just substitute Ellie Mae and Jethro Clampet! What a joke……………..

Graet interview, simple explanations. Hope all the dems will read that and finally understand that our country finally got someone who will be on the side of every American, whom you can’t nirther buy nor convince to vote or do wrong things. She’ll stand up for the right thing alright! Do not think twice, people, vote for what comes to you as a God’s gift - regardless of who you are, a Democrat or republican. A real thing is finally in your hands - don’tet it go away.

McCain is just like Bush. Call something that is black white and go on and on as though everyone else in the room is stupid and only he knows. I mean, Bush was an “executive” too and look what that brought on. McCain will be more of the same. And so far, we have not seen much of Palin. No doubt being filled up with all the talking points.

It is not going to be hard for right thinking Americans to figure this one out. Enough is enough. And to try to compare this person to Obama is foolish. If she out qualifies Obama with this magic “executive” experience in a small town, then I think McCain is on the wrong side of the ticket. Clearly he is not as qualified as Palin and what is more, she is younger and more popular. If she is more qualified that Obama, why does McCain not do what is right for his party and for America and step aside.

This is all just a charade and a Rovian ploy. The idea is to tie Obama to Palin and argue about the two in the hopes of bringing Obama down to Palin’s level. It will backfire, because it shows yet again Obama has better judgment and that McCain is indeed not qualified.

Americans won’t be fooled again.

Chriss Wallace gave a good chance to McCain to prove that he is not same as George Bush administration. McCain failed to say anything against Bush administartion and failed to say the difference between him and Bush. Now that is his problem, and that is what I call fair and balanced, even when it comes from FOX News. Democrats have been asked same questions and I beleive they failed to use their chance also.

I thinks the Sarah Palin choice as vice presidential running mate is another perfect example of poor judgement by McCain. It appears to me a pure act of pandering at its best.

Comment by Vincent

Choosing Sarah Palin was brilliant. A smart, tough, woman with principles that she’s not afraid to put into practice, both in office and in her private life, and someone who shares McCain’s prolife convictions and passion for reform. She will galvanize conservatives, attract moderates, and charm everybody. Attacks on Palin for any alleged lack of experience will backfire, since she has more executive experience than Obama. This a ticket with character, a ticket with a passion for reform, a dream ticket….a winning ticket! The leftists, the press, and Democratic operatives are understandably testy about all of this. Too bad for them!

Is this for real? Did this interview actually happen? This is John McCain justifying his first executive decision as the possible and very likely commander and chief of the super power of the world? Now I know why Obama was pointing out McCain’s poor judgment. Johnny likes to go to war and have beauty queens as his “soulmates.”

Comment by Charlie in London

God help us.

And I’m a Republican!

Suitability to assume the presidency in time of crisis was clearly not the driving force behind this pick. Consequently, he has done a disservice to the country on that score.

“She’s been to Kuwait.” Pathetic.

Even good ol’ Schuyler Colfax, arguably the worst Veep in U.S. history, had scads more experience (Speaker of the House).

Hefty educational resume, too. That U of Idaho journalism degree looks great!

She seems like a nice lady, though.

Frustrating!!!!

Comment by Bev

Sarah Palin is just as qualified as all the other governors that were considered. She is more qualified than those characters in Washington who have no executive experience. She makes decisions everyday in regarding to budgets, people, lawmaking, etc. Gov. Jindal has only been a governor for 1 year. Many of our past Presidents were governors before coming to the White House and they did not have national or international experience. John Kerry should look at Mr. Clinton before criticizing. He was a governor from the State of Arkansas. Also there was Carter. They were unknowns before they were elected to the Presidency.

Comment by Kenneth Bertschy

Mccain looked around for a vice president and found a babe in the woods, both literally and figuratively. If she were a man, he would never have chosen him based on personal character alone. Palin is so naive that she thinks that she can raise a six month old baby with Downs syndrome and learn how to be a vice president on the job. We need a full-time vice president who already knows what she is doing. Juggling two full time jobs (mommy and VP) means that neither one is excelled at. Is she through with having any more babies, or is she going to get pregnant again next year?

Sarah Palin is a refreshing and positive choice for the US. It would be wonderful to have a vice president who’s wlling to stand up against special interests and pork projects–as shown by her actual deeds, not just her words. She took on the oil companies and even took on her own party leaders. She cut her salary when elected governor, and sold off the governor’s private jet on eBay. She’s a strong person with clear views and integrity.

Quite Simply Sarah Palin will get John McCain Elected.

Sarah shares his values.
Sarah has more executive experience than either Obama or Biden.
Sarah has vetoed more legislation than Obama has authored.
Sarah has signed more legislation into law than Obama has voted FOR.
Sarah talks straight and true, Obama and Biden say what they think then need to say in each situation.

What else is there to say?

Well, I must say I am more than a little surprised that Fox show impartiality and asked many of the obvious questions. At a time when virtually all of the major news outlets in America pander to entertainment issues and throw softball questions, it is a welcome sight indeed. We need news coverage, not soapboxes and propaganda for your favorite party and administration. I’ve mostly dismissed Fox as a credible news source…more so than the others, although I see problems with them as well.

The only thing this interview left out were questions about the current ethics probe the state of Alaska is conducting on Palin.

Comment by Jerry

There are so many questions about Palin:
He’s “watched her for many, many years”??????? What, he’s been stalking the mayor of Wallipsiwillie Alaska?
She’s been in “elected government” for 12 years? Barely. What, counting being a councelwoman and belonging to the PTA?
She’s been governor of a state of what… 500,000 people? Fresno’s bigger than that.
She’s been governor for 18 months?!
She was for the “bridge to nowhere” before she was against it?
She’s against earmarks yet she’s asked for them?
What about Troupergate? Do we really need a potential president who’s probably used her office to vindictively gone after her former brother-in-law who’s locked in a custody battle with her sister? Who’s fired a good man who stood up to her and refused?
Her approval rating’s falling like a rock (down 25 points in the last 2 months).
According to some very smart and independent observers “she’s the least experienced VP nominee in modern times.” And that includes a lot of really poor nominees.
She’s a right-wing extremest that thinks birth control should be illegal.

Puleeeeeeez!

The problem with McCain’s argument is that Palin

With that logic, the President of my Home Owners Association

May God! What an ignorant and dangerous defense of his own running mate! Soulmate?! Are we supposed to take him seriously? Who in their right mind cares if this woman was in the PTA? Is this man taking this country, this contest, this very important decision by each and every American seriously? If you ask me, he sounds like he is not playing with a full deck. Who could read this exchange and think that John McCain can formulate a coherent sentence, much less a cohenrent energy or foreign policy?! Please can we begin to focus on some issues now?

Yes, it’s fun and it feels good to spout off about who has more experience, and if Gov. Palin were a man, would he be taken seriously as a VP candidate, etc.

Now that the web is full of these discussions, and it’s obvious that no one is listening anymore, let’s begin to function as responsible adults and look to what are the best moves we can make to reach the highest of our goals.

There is so much work to be done in cleaning up the oversights and untended situations that been left to rot, especially the state of our educational system and our disease-care system. Who has the most to gain by getting to work? WE do.

A healthy nation can progress and move forward quickly.

We’ve got to focus on what works, even if it involves ideas that we are unfamiliar with, and leave off the discussions of what doesn’t work. If we feel like we are sitting in darkness and having meeting after meeting about what is darkness and what can we do about it, then it’s more than time to get up and turn on the light and get to work!

Let’s raise the bar to a level where our attention is on what must be done, where we shut up and listen more before we speak, hear the various factions and their concerns and suggestions, bring in those experts in these fields and listen to them, and let go of our fixation on narrow views that may feel good to us but in fact marginalize our neighbors.

I have great faith in our ability to rally round the urgent needs and long-term needs of our citizens.

I believe we have an important role in our world family — as a more mature country, one that acknowledges the huge variety of faiths and economic systems and histories of all 192 countries of this world.

Where’d you hear that it was our role to make everyone live as we do? When we heard about the Communists saying such things and invading countries and putting in their own government system, we said NO! But we have fallen into the same trap and are living the despair of the ignorant fools. Oops, we didn’t mean to do that. Sorry.

Okay, this isn’t the kind of rant that you like to hear, but it may be a necessary reminder of the bigger picture, and that everything that happens to us is our own doing and our own responsibility. There is no “them.” It’s only “us.”

President Eisenhower pointed out that a leader goes to the head of the line and moves forward; a non-leader tries to push the line from behind and chaos results.

We get the leader that we deserve. Let’s act like we deserve better, and let’s not settle for those who live the rigid constraint of fear- and judgment-laden philosophies.

John McCain is insane. He calls himself a maverick, even in his commercials, yet he says he does not enjoy the title maverick. He is calling his VP running mate, Sarah Palin, his soulmate. How does Cindy McCain feel about John having another soulmate other than her. John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate after meeting her once at his Arizona ranch. The second time he met her was the day he named her as his running mate. He has been watching her for years, from afar. John McCain is lusting after her. He has Cindy (Rodeo Beauty Queen) on the one side and Sarah (Beauty Queen on the other. Watch out Cindy. John McCain spent more time getting to know Cindy, before marrying her, than getting to know Sarah. John McCain is a nut. He has altzheimer’s, dementia. Sit down Grand Pa. Barack for President.

I don’t like McCain, and yet I feel the pain of the embarrassment he doesn’t quite get regarding Palin. Like:

The National Guard that she commands,

Come on, the PTA and the National Guard. John shame on you! You also have the problem of this ‘Troopergate Scandal’ she is under special prosecutor investigation, did anybody check her out? Also she was all for the bridge to nowhere until it made the media. Then she was against it, but kept the money. For it, then against it - yep John you are right that you have found your soul mate. And whats all this talk in her hometown blog about her daughter and the baby http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/08/30/off-to-the-land-of-palin/

Not good John, are you feeling well?

Jesus Christ!!! And this could be the president of the USA.

This is just so pitiful. Palin is the best woman, most qualified woman the Republicans have to offer? Wasn’t Meg Whitman one of his confidantes? The good senator from Texas? Condi Rice? No experience there. I guess I understand.

Senator Stevens going to trial next week on corruption charges over the Oil Pipeline in Alaska.
DICK CHENEY wrote a letter to the State Legislaters up there to urgently pass the bill for the Pipeline. This sure unusual for the White House to do this. This took place BEFORE Mrs.Palin was Governer…so how does she take credit so much for getting this pipeline????

Seems to me everything in the world that we get involved in is always ABOUT OIL.
and By the way, the Justice Department Prosecutors are NOT bringing up DICK CHENEYS letter about this pipeline in the prosecution of Senator Stevens. What does that tell you one more time??
I say Get rid of them all.

the way McCain is talking about Palin reminds me of the children’s classic, The Emperor’s New Clothes!
He is saying “stuff” expecting everyone to believe what he is saying when we can plainly see what he is saying is inaccurate - to say the least!

So in McCain’s mind, being a member of PTA makes one an expert on National Security? Is this for real!?

He met her once, and they are “soul-mates?” Please.

She is qualified to take on the terrorists because she has been to Kuwait?

Is anyone actually buying this load?

She is qualified to be president of the free world because she was governor of a small population state for two years? Hey, I was leader of my World of Warcraft guild for three years, does that mean I am qualified to be mayor of my city?

Fact is she is under-educated, unexperienced, and has gotten rid of corruption in her state only to install her own brand of corruption. Troopergate, ties with Stevens, and the allegation that her youngest child is actually her grand child.

Hey, I know you have three houses Palin, but being “rural” you should be familiar with this line:

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.

This is the man a major party in America puts forth as a candidate for President? This interview shows he can hardly complete a cohesive, thoughtful sentence. He loses track of thought patterns whiile speaking.

Some examples:

1) So I think Governor Palin is uniquely — as a governor, she’s had executive experience.

2) But they do live a life of a wonderful family. He’s — they’ve had a small business that — they are just really good, down-to-earth people who understand the challenges that we face.

How about this one, with one of his favorite tag lines: I know how to …..

And what we are finding out in recent days in a couple of weeks is an increasingly dangerous world. But most importantly, I know how to get the jobs back and get our economy going again.

He also knows how to win wars. And how to find Osama Bin Laden. Maybe he should’ve shared that with the Bush administration.

I’m an Independent. I’ve been watching all the candidates closely and listening to what they have to say. For so many years I’ve been so disappointed by the choices offered until now. Finally I have hope that change is really possible this time. Gov. Sarah Palin brings me that hope. My vote will go to McCain. McCain and Palin together will make changes that our country needs so badly.

Don’t know much about Gov. Palin, but after reading this interview, she’s got to be more qualified than McCain. Probably has more executive experience too. McCain should nominate her and drop out. Very weak answers.

Mr McCain is right on the mark about what America wants. We want a team that is willing to make real change, with hands on success stories that prove to us that they indeed can make change really happen. Not just talk!!

Palin brings real executive experience, with real results of making change, and working both with and against parties and individuals as needed. Obama on the other hand just talks about change with no experience of really making change.

It is amazing how the media, wants to ignore Obama’s lack of real experiences claiming that the democratic primary process and the votes casted proves that americans are ok with his credentials. This is one American, with many others that are not comfortable at all with a man with no experience or success of really implementing change or even challenging his own party as needed to make change!!

McCain/Palin - The real change agents in this election!!

It’s not clear to me how anyone can make the case that Sarah Palin is more unprepared for the presidency than is Barack Obama. Whatever her relevant experience may be, it is more than Obama can claim.

Comment by Tom Cloinger

Way to go Mr. McCain. I believe your really going to change Washington. I sincerely hope you do clean out that rats nest. Moreover, I truly hope you get the election with a landslide to give both parties especially the democrat controlled congress a signal that we americans have had about all we can stand from these do nothing people who get paid with tax payers money.

The Obama people are so jealous. Obama and Biden combined can’t muster the qualifications in leadership that Palin has and this country needs.

That was pathetic. I’m a Vietnam vet, so I honor John’s POW travails. But I CAN’T vote for him to be our president, not before Palin but now NEVER-EVER after having chosen her. If that’s the low level of his decsion-making, the Republicans are in REAL trouble.

“I’ve watched her for many, many years…”

Really, Sen. McCain? Just what is your definition of “many, many”? (Notice that it wasn’t just one “many”!) Prior to 2003, her biggest political achievement was serving as the mayor of an Alaskan town with a population of under 10,000. With everything else going on in the world, what possessed you to “watch” the mayor of Wasilla, AK? Or does “many, many years” mean fewer than 5?

Sheesh. Listening to him babble about Sarah Palin’s non-existent qualifications had to be difficult for even Chris Wallace to endure with a straight face.

Looking at the character and service to her constituents that Sarah Palin has exhibited, I would be happy to have her as my Commander in Chief. God bless her and the USA.
