Sarah Palin’s Parents: “We are thrilled!”

St. Paul, Minn.-

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been chosen by the McCain campaign to be his number two pick. Fox News spoke to Palin’s mom, Sally Heath in Wasilla, Alaska. She and her husband Chuck , “are delighted. We are thrilled! It’s a great choice.”

They found out that their daughter was John McCain’s Vice-Presidential choice by watching it on Fox News. They were alerted to tune in this morning from Palin’s husband, Todd, but they did not know positively until they saw it on television.

Palin has not called them yet, but Sally added, “I’m sure she’s trying. We haven’t been off the phone for a second!”

She quickly got off to wait for her daughter’s call.

Sarah Palin - Well, surprise! surprise! Another Carl Rove political hack who is in bed with BIG OIL and GAS. Maybe republican women are dumb enough to vote for her gender, but the rest of us are not fooled by this token gesture of male arrogrance.

Comment by Lew

I think she is a good choice. Should be an interesting debate. Old man verus young woman.

Obama, Dean, Polsi and the rest of you are going to see what your manipulation, disregard and disrespect to Hillary’s voters really did.

I have always voted as a democrate and I’m 52, guess what I’m voting for McCain-Palin and I’m sure most of us Hillary supports that you didn’t want to hear will be heard!

As a lifelong Republican (I am 70 years old), I reregistered as an Independent prior to the primaries due to disgust with current Republican policies. With the selection of Sarah Palin as McCain’s VP candidate, I may now change my registration back to Republican.

Correction on Palin supporting Global Warming. Many confliciting reports out there with her on this issue. She has stated it is not man made and I agree with her.

Thrilled!!!

I have been so concerned that people would even consider Obama…with where our country is headed.

PALIN is exactly what this country needs!!! She is for the country and our people. Has no desire to make a name for herself like Obama and his arrogance!

I could jump out of my skin…I am so excited. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I am excited about politics and the direction our country could head with this pair…

Thank you Lord for giving us a choice who represents morals, strenght, wisdom, courage, integrity, family, and reform…on and on!!!

Comment by Mike Smith

Well he complained Obama wasn’t ready to lead now he picks a pageant girl with no experience. I can’t wait to see the GOP defend this. As old as he is, he needs a firm second in command. Should have picked Romney.

Comment by KATHY MAY

YAAA…I don’t know anything about her, but from what I have read, what a well-rounded woman she is! I like the fact she is wife, mother, member of the NRA, Conservative Christian and only 44! A wise choice John McCain……..Obama doesn’t stand a chance……xo

Comment by sandra mcdonald

Yes!!!! Palin is a great choice, I didn’t know anything about her but she impressed me so much I was clapping and crying as she gave her acceptance speech. I am registered as no party but I will vote for her and John on Nov 4th.

With the ad Mccain put out last night, he is very class. And I am glad he picked her. We are looking at the next President and Vice-President of the United States. Forget Obama and Biden, there are too many unanswered questions! Mccain-Palin 08

Comment by Lynn DiStanislao

When Obama first ran I really felt that finally racism was shrinking. Then after I listened to his speaches I decided McCain was the only choice, although I was not thrilled. Sarah has given the campaign energy and excitement. Finally someone I can get behind and feel proud to give McCain-Palin my full support. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Comment by Roberta Bedell Bausum

What a wonderful choice. We are thrilled. This will be the greatest team ever!

Comment by From Obama's Corrupt State of ILLINOIS.

I think the selection is GREAT. A solid Republican Ticket.

Do you notice on the net that there is only one or two articles at most of the announcement.

When low rolling Biden was selected it was all over the net radio and television.

Does this disappoint the Media including Fox News that McCain has picked a winner?

I believe it does!

McCain/Palin a winning team in November, Palin in 2012 over Hillary.

History is in the making.

Comment by Cynthia McKee

This is surely a great day in our history. I can not tell you how excited I am. Being a stay at home mom and seeing the accomplishment of Sarah Palin is so exciting. I don’t know much about her but I have a good sense of how passionate she is in all of her endeavors. This just reenforces the trust I have John McCain’s good judgement…he surely is a “Maverick” and has the best interest of this country in mind!!!!!

Comment by Kris

I am so excited John McCain picked Sarah Palin. We now have change on our ticket — a woman with 5 children she can relate to America! I am so glad he did not pick another old time Washington politician!!!! Now we have a chance!

Congradulations, Senator John McCain on selecting Gov. Sarah Palen as your running mate. Listening to her review the accomplishments of two short yearsas governor of Alaska, I could now help but think the US has a budding PR Margaret Thacher in the making.

The glass ceiling is being broken!!!!

Sarah Palin–how thrilling! What a choice! Now this is the kind of woman to be in the public eye! Politics is not the family business and she is not leaving any question about whether or not she loves this country! She is an out of the ballpark hit! Brilliant!! I am a 59 y/o Republican woman who stood in my home and applauded with tears in my eyes after hearing her speak!

Comment by DavidH

Course they are thrilled. Her being chosen proves that not all Republicans are totally against Affirmative Action. Maybe McCain should have taken to his own criticism about choosing someone that is more experienced.

Comment by Paula Hayward

Congratulations, Sarah will make an awesome VP. She has the spunk and take control attitude that this country and John McCain need. We (my husband and I) were in a slump before this morning and now look forward to a thrilling ride these next few months as the country decides who will run America next!! John McCain made a great choice with Sarah Palin! Thanks Heaths for a job well done!!!

A note to the Heaths - As the mother of 4 children, the second a 36 year old Down Syndrome, I can only encourage you to take a really active role in helping the children through what will be fun, exciting but terrifying times as they hit the spotlight full force. Particularly for the youngest, he needs the stability and routine that they can offer as the schedule will be so unpredictable these next few months and years.

John McCain picked a “breath of fresh air” for his running mate! Sarah Palin seems honest, genuine, patriotic, loving, devoted, hard-working, empathetic…I could go on and on. Cheers for the Republican party and a victory in November!

WOW!! Great pick by McCain-finally a new fresh face who believes in integrity. Hunts, fishes, family woman, is spirited, more interested in honesty rather than a party, card carrying member of the NRA, and good lookin!!! Truly my kind of woman-can we clone her? She’ll get my vote!! DW

I was very suprized at John McCain’s choice for the vice presidential candidate and a little apprensive. However, after I heard Sarah Pelin speak, I was very emotional, as I as extremely impressed with her grace and dignity and all that she had to say. I was’nt quite sure of my choice for Senator John McCain, but now I am possitive. Can’t wait to hear the debates.
I believe in a leader who is moral and values what this country stands for. I want a president that foremost, will keep this country safe. Of course I am concerened about the economy and helth care. I am retired and am living on social socurity. but if we are not safe, nothing else really matters.
I will support Senator John McCain and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. May God bless them with wisdom to make the right desisions, and to keep them safe.

Obama’s comment that Gov Palin is not qualified to be “one heart beat away from the presidency” shows the ultimate fear..I’d much rather have Gov Palin one beat away than Obama as the “beating heart of the presidency”! and Biden..well, he speaks for himself…often, loud, and extremely crude. Obama and Biden…the perfect ticket…A No Nothing and the No It All..thank God for McCain and Palin!

MY COMMENT IS- HOW DOES SARAH PLAN TO CARE FOR HER YOUNG CHILDREN AS VICE PRESIDENT. THE VICE PRESIDENT HAS TO BE GONE FOR A LOT OF THE TIME AND ALSO TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES. HOW CAN SHE BE LEAVE HER CHILDREN WHEN THEY ARE SO YOUNG AND ALSO ONE THAT IS HANDICAPPED.

Comment by Randy

Grats Mr and Mrs Heath, you have raised a wonderful person with a big heart.

Comment by Yukon Dave

Compared to all of the Senators on the Republican and Democratic tickets, Governor Sarah Palin has two more years of running a government, balancing a budget and managing a legislature than any of the other candidate running today. The fact is, being a Senator means you spend 50% of your time campaigning, 25% with your family and another 25% showing up to vote the party line 90% of the time. The fact is Senators don’t even read the laws they are voting on anymore as Michael Moore proved.

Governor Palin is equal to many countries in size and oil production. She has battled against big oil and won. She governs a state that borders Russia and Canada. So what experience does Obama, McCain or Biden really offer in regard to governing? Governor Palin has worked a real job, ran her own company, been a real mom, a real mayor and a real Governor.

On the other hand, McCain does not know how to use a computer yet we are considering him for President? Obama has not run a budget for anything and worst of all he is a lawyer. Biden is a 35 year veteran of the U.S. Senate democratic party machinery and he represents change? If you want change, Governor Palin sounds more like change then the rest of the fools on both tickets. All of these Senators have voted what they were told to vote on by their respective party over 90% of the time. Look at the records yourself. Not one of those Senators has real leadership experience. They are high paid order takers and not leaders.

Comment by Gayle Grohs

I am thrilled about Sarah Palin’s appointment. I think she will do a teriffic job and so glad Mccain picked a woman with such integrity and moxie! I can’t wait for it all to get “rolling”.

Comment by schmec

Great call for McCain! If the Democrats win in November, God forbid, then the smart people who voted for them will not have voted for Obama. Their vote will have been for Biden. He’s the real brains in the partnership. Come to think of it, Biden should be the guy at the top of the ticket. And Obama should be Uh…uh…uh…uh…. Sound familiar? NO place for
“Uh”Bama!

Comment by Marty

Palin is a brilliant choice. This is just the beginning for this fine young women. I believe the Obama-Biden ticket is history.

I am thrilled by the Sarah Palin pick for VP. I am a 53 year old registered nurse. I do not think that John Mccain would have picked her if she was not qualified. Everyone that I have talked to so far from my 88 year old voting mother to my 26 year old son are greatly in favor of this pick and will definitely support this ticker!

To Aaron Johnson: How about the Senator from Arizona and the Governor of Alaska won’t turn your town into a replica of Detroit! Since you live so close to that once great city where American pride was evident in the quality craftmanship of the automotive industry; perhaps knowing what the ultra left wing of the Democratic party has done to Detroit and the state of Michigan would be reason enough to not vote for Obama/Biden. In case you were wondering, Obama championed Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick as being a friend and a great leader in fighting for the people. Apparently, Obama left out quite a few words in his praise for Inmate Kilpatrick. The comment should have read like this, “he is alot like my other radical friend, Bill Ayers, but Kwame is going to jail. But he’s a great leader in fighting the police to save his own behind and and cover up the truth about his corrupt behavior all the while pretending to be a diligent civil servant for the people of this once proud town. See, apparently Obama’s teleprompter was on the fritz that day and he just said the first that he could think of that rings of the typical liberal drivel that the DNC and their willing accomplices in the media have been force feeding us for several generations.

Comment by Ron

To Faye: Your comments are reprehensible! Where do you prefer Gov. Palin to be? At home, barefoot and in the kitchen? It’s amazing how you liberal women are commenting on her selection as VP running mate. What? The only women that deserve access to the mainstream must be liberal? Or childless? Mrs. Palin has a husband that is as equally capable of raising those children during the times in which she will be absent as most husbands are. To assume that she lacks family values because she’s pursuing the VP slot is a shining example of the hypocrisy and ignorance put forth by the Democratic party. Thank you for proving which side of aisle that the real bigotry lies. It’s okay for Ferraro and Clinton to run but not Palin because she has a child with special needs? You may want to turn off the caps lock before people start to notice your complete lack of intelligent thought.

Comment by Shirley

How great for the women of America. I am sure Sarah Palin has learned the art of multi-tasking to keep her children and husband happy. And as far as being a maverick…God Bless her. I am 73 years old, a conservative and always been considered a bit of a maverick by lots of people. I was never afraid to give MY own opinion…did not hide behind the Mrs. The working mothers of our country should rally behind her…yes, it is possible to be a good mother and work. In other words you get to have two full time jobs…how lucky she is!! GO SARAH!!

Comment by Barry Edwards

I say good going McCain, do you really thank Sarah Palin is the right person for the job of V. P. or is it you needed a judas goat so you can get the Hillary votes, i belive you will find out that woman are not sheep and they have more intelligence than you think. You need to try something else.

Comment by Sharon Bond

I am ecstatic. I feel like McCain has redeemed himself in my eyes. I never knew where he was going with his politics, but his choice for Palen renews my energy for this election. I was always going to vote for McCain just to vote against Obama, but now I am truly on board with all of my enthusiasm. Thank you, thank you, thank you John McCain for not deserting us conservatives. God bless this ticket, and God bless America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven’t seen or talked to Chuck for 52 years since high school in Sandpoint, Idaho. Congratulations to Chuck and Sally for raising a terrific daughter. I was “on the fence”–not anymore.

I am interested in what people mean these days when they say that they fight corruption, like Sara Palin. (Who is under investigation for corruption.) The people that went after Don Siegelman said that they were going after “corruption.” The current republican party is the most corrupt in the history of the United States, From Karl Rove, Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay, Larry Craig, and on down the line. If Sara Palin is about fighting corruption then she should to re-open the case on the Keating Five, or the Silverado Savings and Loan disaster that hurt so many American families.
