GOP Members Debate 2012 Primary System

MINNEAPOLIS–

After approving their election platform last night, RNC members came together again today to vote on a new primary system for 2012.

The process named the Kentucky Amendment passed, but will go before the full 112-member convention committee tomorrow. If approved, the primary system will be shifted back and states will be free to hold their Republican primaries any time after the first Tuesday in March. The exceptions are New Hampshire and South Carolina who will maintain their first in the nation and first in the South status and their states will be free to hold their primaries any time after the first Tuesday in February.

The status of Iowa was not addressed because this process does not affect non-binding caucus states like Iowa and Nevada.

The penalties for states that shift their primaries early remain the same as 2008. Any state that moves their primary to before the first Tuesday in March, besides New Hampshire and South Carolina, will be stripped of half of their delegates.

Who is running this party. All voices should be heard on the very same day and no state should be privilaged above another state. Unbelievable!

Thank you Republicans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This campaign season has been wayyyyy to long and finally some sense is being brought back. Let’s hope the states go along with this system. Common Sense is finally prevailing.

I believe this is what Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has been trying to implement for months. Anyone know his involvment in this? And will this add more of a debate and discussion of the issues instead of one person asking each cadidate a seperate question?
