McCain meets GOP Hollywood at fundraiser

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — McCain attended a fundraiser at the Beverly Hills Hilton Monday night, which included a number of Hollywood Republicans, capping off a $4.7 million, two-event day in the Golden State

The presumptive GOP nominee made little in the way of news in his remarks though he joked about his afternoon taping at the Tonight Show.

“I just came from taping the Jay Leno show so those of you that are up late tonight and don’t wish to watch any re-runs of the Democratic convention,” McCain said to laughter from the nearly 1,200 donors in the hotel ballroom. “So naturally we had to have a few age jokes and I told him that my Social Security number is 8. I am that old.”

And while Barack Obama has the majority of Hollywood backing his candidacy, McCain had his own small cadre of celebs in attendance tonight. Among those that were spotted:

Stephen Baldwin
Pat Boone
Wilford Brimley
Dean Cain
Jon Cryer
Robert Duvall
Angie Harmon
Patricia Heaton
Lorenzo Lamas
Craig T. Nelson
Gail O’Grady
Jason Sehorn
Gary Sinise
Jon Voight

“I would like to thank so many brave and courageous people who are here that happen to be in the business of Hollywood who are risking their entire futures and careers,” McCain added.

Noteworthy: Tori Spelling was also dining at the Beverly Hills Hilton Monday evening but did not appear to be there for the fundraiser.

Hoolywood and the DNC are alot alike, if you don’t think and do what they want you to you get blackballed or tossed out. Just like the four Hillary delegates who refuse to back Obama and the ones the DNC said couldn’t vote and let us not forget the DNC stopped the eletronic votes so they can control and know who cast what votes as they also told the delegates that only a few that back Hillary can cast their votes. Now that is truely a fair and for the people party. As long as you do what the DNC tells you to. Now doen’t that warm your heart?

But you idiots hate Hollywood. Now it’s okay? Who’s the elitist? BTW Tori is a democrat and was probably horrified to watch as those republicans devowered puppies and small children as part of their satanic rituals to ensure four more years of an anti-Christ in office.

Republicans in Hollywood? You could hold the fundraiser in a phone booth.

I so enjoy hearing John McCann speak, he is so funny. Can’t wait to see the taping of the Jay Leno show. He is a man that can be serious when he needs to be and can laugh and have a good time too. I am looking forward to having him for our President with his wife Cindy as our First Lady.

I have the new DNC slogan or motto, “Ask not what you can do for your country but what your country can do for you”, Now that is what Obama is doing and so JFK, NOT. McCain may not be in his 40’s but better him than the spend, spend, then spend agin lazy communistic DNC with their only a few delegates not for Obama can vote and if you don’t back him you are kick out of our party. Not to mention their convention is being paid for by guess who? The famous Lobbiest. Got to love it. Big Lobbiest invite only show ID parties and the works. So what kind of new politics did Obama say he was for again?

We do have some Celebrities in Hollywood with some gonads. Go Big John!

It’s a shame that there is so much McCarthy-ism in Hollywood. It’s not the Communists that are blacklisted, but the Republicans.

Where is the freedom of speech? And since when is it un-American to be a conservative?

I applaude these actors and actresses for standing up for America. These are the real actors and actresses.

Hey Norma! I’m voting for John “Wayne” “Lucas” McCain, too. You must live out west like I do. I sure liked Chuck Connors as “Lucas McCain” in the “Rifleman.” I love American Hollywood motion pictures. Anyways, they should make a movie on John McCain. Better yet, as President we can watch McCain on TV make more history everyday as we witness his American Presidential Story unfold.
This is a greater story than what Obama’s would be which would be that of serving out Jimmy Carters second term. Show one thing that would be different. Same rhetoric, same bull. That’s the “change” Obama promises only worse because Obama and everybody else in the Democratic party and liberal media should have learned from it but they still want to go back there. “Some change!”
Barack, come back after you get some more experience in about 12 or 16 years after McCain and Hillary Clinton finish their Presidential terms. You know you wouldn’t be where you are if the Democrats knew you like they know you now before “Super Tuesday.”
“Bad break,” Hillary, you’re a fine woman in your own right.” Considering everything, you got “Baracked and Slick Willied Hard.” For the Democrats, this would be the title and subject of their Hollywood Blockbuster Movie for 2008.

The conservative actor/actresses who are real people with values exemplify what the foundation of Americans that care about the future of our Country. With all the hype and media/hollywood love of Obama, you would think he can save the world? Guess what, he is human, oh and by the way did I say “he’s half black and white” and he is popular with hollywood because he fits the typical image they want to create. I wonder if he would be as popular if he was fat and ugly, oh and black?
It doesn’t matter color, we are talking policies and the sooner we get back to the core of this election the sooner American can stop walking on eggshells.

Hollywood? Is that where McCain picked up his Stepford wife? Or maybe that is where he learned how to commit adultery. Or maybe its those Hollywood values that led him to leave his first wife and marry another while still married to his first wife? McCain, McFamily Values . . . NOT!

The guy with the comments about Republicans “devowering puppies and small children” provides yet another demonstration of the ubiquitous liberal philosophy — “If you can’t say anything substantive, just spew hateful venom — that’ll be real convincing!”

As for the list of celebs at McCain’s fundraiser being Hollywood has-beens:
Robert Duvall is, by any standard, one of the most accomplished actors in the history of American film. And by the way, he CURRENTLY has 5 new films in various stages of pre-to-post production, so you’ll be seeing a LOT of him in 2008.
Jon Voight has a very long filmography — just check him out on http://www.imdb.com. He’s not having trouble making money lately. He was in both of the National Treasure movies.

Patricia Heaton, who has her own truckload of Emmys from her 9 years on the wildly popular series, Everybody Loves Raymond, is staying busy. She recently co-produced the exceptional movie, Amazing Grace, about William Wilberforce, the Christian who devoted his life to ending slavery in England — and succeeded. Patricia is an evangelical Christian herself, and not bashful about saying so.

I love how people like to compare Obama to Carter like it is an insult. Let’s see, After the Nixon administration OPEC had already Reduced the amount of Oil on the World Market. This sparked an Oil Crisis causing oil prices to raise drastically thus causing price inflation throughout the economy and slowing growth. Carter stepped in and told the American people about this crisis, and asked them to do their part. He convenced the Democratic Congress to create the Department of Energy which stressed the need for energy conservation. He also cut energy cost at the White House by having a Wood Stove in his living quarters and installing Solar Hot Water Panels. As reaction to a perceived “energy crisis” and growing concerns over air pollution, Carter also signed the National Energy Act (NEA) and the Public Utilities Regulatory Policy Act (PURPA). . The purpose of these watershed laws was to encourage energy conservation and the development of national energy resources, including renewables such as wind and solar.

Not only that but he also recognized the need to pull out the troops from South Korea and cut the number stationed there, while cutting military spending by 6 billion dollars. As well as the Camp David talks that resulted in the Egypt\Israli peace treaty. He is also the Only President to go on and work for the less fortunate in this country by Physically Building homes for the homeless. Maybe you hear of them. You know the Carter Habitat for the Homeless.

Funny thing is I agree with your assesment that Obama is remanint of Carter. But not in the negative Context you are putting him in. Because Iraq IS like Vietnam and Korea in that we only went in based on our Commander in Chief’s personal fealings about the region. We ARE in an economic Recession, early as it is, due to inflation of oil prices caused by OPEC cutting the amount of oil on the World Market. Just look at all the comparisons. What we NEED IS a humanitarian right now.

How funny is it that McCain bashes Obama for being “elitist” and celebrity oriented when he is so desperately trying to be like him by rolling around in Hollywood fundraisers? Face it McCain, you’ll never be like Obama, someone who’s half your age and has double your insight.

Does any normal person really care what Hollywood thinks and why. It is after all the land of fruits and nuts.

And Wilford Brimley is another actor with a mile-long auspicious filmography. One of the greatest character actors ever.

Anyone who would discount this list of actors as inconsequential is either intellectually dishonest or just plain doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
