Obama is “Absolutely Convinced” Biden is the Right Man for the Job

Barack Obama walked up to a gaggle of reporters waiting to tape him boarding his campaign plane today in Eau Claire, Wisconsin - a move that surprised reporters and staff alike. Here’s what he had to say this Sunday afternoon about his new running mate and the upcoming Democratic convention. The soon to be official Democratic nominee did not take questions.

“Listen, nothing wrong. I just wanted to say I am thrilled with Joe Biden as my vice president. The conversations we’ve been having over the last couple of days make me absolutely convinced he is the right man for the job. He’s got the passion to lift up middle-class Americans. He hasn’t forgotten his working-class roots. He’s got the expertise that will make him a great counselor on international crisis that may come up. More importantly, I think he can help shape a long-term strategy to keep America more secure and move us out of the disasterous economic and foreign policies that have characterized the last eight years. I am very excited about the convention. I can’t wait to hear Michelle’s speech tomorrow. I will tell you that I did get a little preview of the video they did of her, and she was extraordinary and I think you guys will enjoy it very much. And I am still tooling around with my speech a little bit. It may not be as good as the other headliners the other three nights, but hopefully it will make clear the choice the American people are going to face in November. All right? Let’s get back up.”

With that, Obama boarded his 757 plane bound for Chicago.

Simple question, How would Obama know? This guy was voting “present” 4 years ago in the Illinois state legislature. He has no experience, no record of accomplishment, and Americans distrust him. So back to my question, how could he possibly know. Pathetic.

Comment by Trish

Yeah, well he’s now going to find out that half of his “supporters” are NOT happy. Not only did he pick a guy, but ignored the voice of the People. I am tempted to do a write in campaign for Crusty - at least it would be a fun four years.

In other words Obama is saying Biden is a lot more qualified than himself..so since Biden has all the leadership qualities and experience..Obama will have to consult and check everything with his VP….supposing he is elected, I thought the president was suppose to be the leader and have the experience not the VP more qualified.

Comment by Kathryn

Of course Obama is convinced Biden is the right choice!
Just like he thought Rev. Wright was the right choice!

Comment by Buddy

Thrilled, perhaps they misheard the Senator and he really said chilled. After all Senator Biden was a draft dodger during the Vietnam War and enjoying the frat parties while Senator McCain was a POW in a North Vietnam prison camp. Now that would have been chilling.

Obama has to be convinced. There is no way he has the luxury of throwing Biden under the bus now.

Good I hope he is convinced Biden his his man….so he will not change him out for someone else. Just proves that Obama’s judgment is defective all along…..as much as he wanted to stay away from a “washington insider” Obama has picked a prime example of one!!!! Obama continues to ‘change’ in front of our eyes….BUT his REAL SELF of being socialist, elitist, strong proponent of black nationalism, a friend of Ayers…Wright…Farrahkahn…the “priest with un-american views”….and so on….Obama has not changed his inner self just a smoke screen to fool others to vote for him.

I am listening to Fox Election HQ and I am smiling that the Fox News anchors are so upset for Hillary. If she had been picked they’d be falling all over themselves saying what a terrible decision it was, but now they are really upset for her. Give me a break, guys! Do you think we are really stupid out here in the hinterland. Biden was a great pick and will be a wonderful Vice-President. He’ll not be a yes man, but will truly tell Obama what he thinks. He’s got great foreign policy experience and as a former PA resident I can tell you he rings true with folks up there. That would include the entire Northeast and Mich. Also, I’m betting Jewish voters are happy also. So spare me the crocodile tears for Hillary. Women who wanted Hillary will vote for Obama when election day comes because when they actually have to pull the lever for someone, they won’t be able to pull it for McCain. Oh, there may be one percent who won’t, but trust me on this one, the overwhelming majority of us will. Natalie Cornell

Republicans are saying the ticket should be the other way around. But, it is clear that Obama has run a very good campaign and that could be an indication of how he may run the country. He has surrounded himself with people who do know how to do their job and do it very well and Biden is another example. He wants people to say what is on their mind. Any good boss does. If you surround yourself with yes people, you are not seeing the full picture. So they may argue that Obama’s shortfall is lack of experience, that may be true in certain areas such as foreign policy. but, he clearly knows how to run things. Biden has more foreign policy experience, judiciary experience etc than the Republican candidates put together. Obama has made up for his shortcomings. McCain has not stayed true to his “Maverick” status cheapening his POW status (per many prominent veterans). Same ole status quo republican- fear mongering - character bashing - say anything to win - candidate. The voters are much more saavy this time around and this will not work. McCain please restore yourself to the 2000 candidate status. Please.

I agree with Obama. Biden was a much better pick, especially over Hillary. I could smell an assination in the making if Hil would have made it. She would do anything to become President, even if it means taking out the competition. Her head is to big and the people are eating it up. Biden seems to be a strong man and he will do good. But it doesn’t matter much to me, I am voting for Bush/Rice this year. I think the man deserves another 4 yrs and what harm could it do? He has a lot of cleaning up to do. It can only get worse.

Comment by Nelle -Richmond, VA

Obama has a lot of nerve, disregarding 12 million American opinions on who we want to represent us. Biden seems ok, but why would Obama take that kind of risk? Both Obama and McCain are terrible candidates. As a young female Democrat, who would have voted for Hillary, I can say I will be reluctant to vote AT ALL.

Comment by Rindy

I would give up my right to vote before I would vote for Obama. The man started out stealing the nomination . That is enough for me. It is McCain all the way for this former Democrat.

Comment by Sandy Johnson

I agree, Biden is a good choice, in fact, an excellent choice. He’s younger than McCain but brings a wealth of experience to the ticket. McCain and Co. are going to have to retool their ads. Hope it is something worthy of the American public. Energy, the economy, foreign policy — it’s covered.

Obama’s choice of Biden shows Obama’s lack of leadership, experience, and even integrity. Wasn’t Joe Biden the one who called Obama too inexperienced for the job? Wasn’t Obama the candidate who was running on the “Change” mantra?

Comment by StlMan

So Obama doesn’t care that Biden plagiarized during law school and in his political speeches. This reflects on the character and trustworthiness of both candidates.

Comment by Jim Underwood

With surrogates like CNN and Foxnews I’m certain that fair and balanced means, negative Obama
and positive McCain.

Comment by Sharran

He is a big old fashioned hypocrite. I never bought into his so called change message anyway, so I am not surprised.

Comment by Steve

Obama calls himself the uniter and he refuses to follow the wishes of the majority of voters.
Then he sends his decision out in the middle of the night to counter the 3 AM ad of Hilllary.
Hoe vindictive is that. If he gets in we will all be pumished.

Comment by Frankie

During the primary Hillary herself said she did not want the Vice Presidency, she said she wanted to be President. Bill Clinton is too much of a risk. He was a good President but he did not help Hillary and hurt Hillary’s chances on more than one occasion. He was just too close. The Republicans are doing a very good job to keep kicking up the dust around this issue. McCain does not really care about Hillary supporters , he just wants their vote. He has voted against equal pay, pro life, stay in Iraq, etc. He is playing the olde salesman job on every one of them. Make them think we care and then vote against the issues they really care about. As the saying goes, “There is a sucker born every minute”.

Comment by Pee Vee

The bottom line is Obama is too inexperienced to be President and everyone in his campaign know it. Forget about all this garbage about CHANGE…..Adding Joe Biden to the ticket through that one out the window. As for Biden, he couldn’t get more than 10,000 votes in the primaries. His message obviously wasn’t that convincing. Obama wants Biden so he will fight his battles for him. Obama is a smooth speaker until he gets his back to the wall about all of his controversy. When given hard questions he barely can get 30 words a minute out of his mouth. Imagine if this guy becomes President when his decisions are needed in a moment’s notice. He is going to have to call Biden or his wife to talk for him…

Comment by John A

Normally, Biden would not be a bad choice. And he definitely is capable of being president if need be. Very personable and strong minded.
I just don’t agree with most of his politics. But then I’m not a socialist like he and Obama.
To have had a chance for a slam dunk win he needed to pick Hillary. But I can’t blame him for not wanting to.
So, if he picked Biden for his ability to be president it is an okay pick.
If he picked him thinking he will boost his election prospects…not so good. Biden has never been able to boost his own election prospects.
If he picked him because he’s a good man, who can give him advice when making decisions it’s a good pick.
If he picked him because no one else except Hillary would have booseted his prospets anyway, it’s a good pick.
Overall, Biden is a tough guy to dislike even if you hate his politics, and he could actually inject some fun into the race. But he definitely won’t help getting Obama elected. Most vice president picks don’t. Hillary may have been the only one that actually could.

Obama is convinced he has the right man beside him just like he was convinced he picked good people to look up too and hang out with and they were all ratical freaks, You are the company you keep and his was not very good! He has had to distance himself from all of them. I promise you, if he wins this election he will surround himself with all of them again and what can we do then? This man cannot even write or implement a bill to save his life. He has no experience, just alot of talk and talk is cheap. Sorry Nobama, you are history. Look out, you are going o lose your seat in the senate also.

Biden is a perfect complement to Obama. Two sharp, intelligent decent family guys–it will be a great contrast to the past eight years of immoral and unthinking people.

Comment by Billy Adams

I was checking out the Obama web site and noticed that the logo name for the site was a stacked Obama name above the Biden name. What is interesting is that the Biden name is smaller. This is both true for the site and the signage for the Illinois intro speeches that was used on the podium. This is a small observation and probably is just done for design’s sake, but I was looking up bumper stickers and some signage of past presidential campaigns and it ususally shows the presidential candidate and VP candidate’s name together with the same font size. The colors change depending on the way the names are used, but they seem to have the same size font in most instances that I looked up. Obama’s name comes in larger that Bidens. Biden’s name is also in a blue shade that blends in better on the darker blue background.

Just an observation.

Comment by Bill

With Obama’s choice of Biden he is making it clear that if he is electeted President it with be a job under OJT and instructed by Biden. Is this what this country needs, I dont think so. We need John McCain, Rice would be the best choice as VP, much more qualified that both Omama and Biden combined.

biden has depth of experience, but not breath. he’s been a senator for 30 yrs, served on the judiciary and armed forces committees. but he has not led anything, not a platoon, a swift boat, a naval air squandron, a corporation, a state, a department like defence or state or national security dept.

so i don’t see that he adds much at all. he’s the 3rd most liberal senator in the senate teaming up with the most radical senator. he can debate well, but he has so many past quotes supporting mccain, criticize obama that those can be quoted during the debates when he starts attacking

the ticket does not seem to mesh well together….they dont jive. and they haven’t campaign together. no long bus rides, waits at airports, listennew ideas.ing to the same old talking points and being able to use each other as a sounding board for

ibet obama looses by a large margin…..he’s going to start sinking like a cement weight

The Dems have an upside down ticket. Obama has managed to hide from town hall meetings and debates, because he doesn’t have a clue what he is doing. Biden can’t save him from the debates, no one can. Obama is an empty suit. What a joke.

If Obama is such a uniter and listens to the people he sure didn’t listen when half the voters wanted Clinton. So much for change. He is so arrogant he thinks he can do anything and everyone will vote for him. Think again!

I have posted this on the other article about Biden being picked as VP and some how the moderators did not post ANY comments from anyone…(what’s the matter, too many to even read???)

The truth is Biden is going to cost Obama the election. Really stupid VP pick in my opinion. I am a centrist…I am the one in the middle you are trying to court and you just lost me. I might have voted for you with Hilary (after all she and McCain are almost the same). However…Biden is a big jerk. He can not get along with anyone.

I thought you wanted to unite us? Well Biden doesn’t have a bone in his body that says “hey lets worked together”. All he ever does is argue…no way would I ever vote for him!

Sorry Obama, you just lost my vote…I will definitely vote McCain even though I am more in lined with you about 70 percent of the time.

Its not Biden’s democratic politics that are the problem…it’s his attitude…he is a jerk…and his so called experience in foreign policies is a joke, his decisions and actions on that committee have been terrible over the many years he has been in the Senate.

He can blame George Bush all he wants for the troubles we have with the Middle East, but he and his cohorts have been there even longer than Bush… Biden has no idea how to win a war…and he has no idea how to work with the other side…why in the world would I want to vote for him??? To appease the terrorist more??? To cause even more turmoil and congestion in congress?? Heck no…

I would vote McCain and Lieberman (a democratic I do respect), before I would vote Obama and Biden…

Someone gave you very bad advice Senator and I am sorry you will loose because of it…I thought you would be different…

Obama WILL NOT be getting our votes. He is as phony as a three dollar bill.

The DNC made a H-U-G-E error in NOT giving Hillary the nomination. And, most intelligent people know the reason, despite the DNC lies.

All of you Clinton supporters need to stop ya crying!! Ya girl lost!! Plain & simple. GET OVER IT!! Obama has the prerogative to pick whomever he wanted to be his vp based on his advisors & who he thinks can help him win. What part of that don’t you understand?? She wouldn’t have been a good fit for Obama cuz he would have the crosshairs on him from the moment he’s sworn in. All you sore losers are doing is fanning the flames for McCain & his elitist party.
And McCain is turning me off more & more each day. What are his strong points?? What is he all about? I know that no matter what you say about him, his favorite counter argument is “I was a POW”. “For years i didn’t have a kitchen table cuz i was a POW”. This is 2008 dude. Stay outta the past!! I’m tired of hearing your sob story.
By the way, Nelson Mandela was a political prisoner for 27 years on trumped up charges because he wanted equality for the people in his country. You don’t hear him bringing up that fact every chance he gets. It just shows how soft McCain really is. If you disagree with him, he’ll bring up the fact that he was a POW & then he’ll get the sympathy vote from the american people. McCain is the practicing the same ole status quo republican- fear mongering - character bashing - say anything to win - campaign. I used to respect the dude back when he was running against bush. I knew bush was bad for the country. I never thought McCain would be a bush clone.

OBAMA 08!!! CHOCOLATE CITY HERE WE COME!!!

If you are middle class and below voting for McCain you are a lost soul. Both Obama and Biden have worked for the middle class don’t just listen to what McCain and his campaign say about them, just research them for yourself if you truly care about the hardship we are facing. I am not sure if you are aware but three things will show you the simple truth, 1. McCain has nearly 60 current and past lobbyist on his Camaign as well as his top 7 economic advisors resigning 2. He will keep the Bush cuts permenant even though he stated they were unfair to the middle class and gave the Wealthy (5 - 10%) a huge break and advantage, he was competely against these tax cuts until the right wing forced him to change. Under this plan as a percentage of income the CEO pays less than his assistant. Why do you think he has been attacking Obama on this issue over and over again with lies. 3. Exxon as a company not the employees like me and you but the company itself has given him $1.4 million and i wonder why. If you need more reasons than that as a middle class to see what side he is really on than i will pray for you.

People like Trish need to grow-up and wake-up! How any Clinton supporters could even consider not voting for Obama, out of spite or for whatever reason, is simply not comprehensible. McCain’s policies are so different from Clinton’s it not even funny. I look forward to the day that all the Clinton supporters finally realize this and begin to fully support their party’s candidate.

What an arrogant human being. He requested Secret Service coverage long before Sen. McCain- just who did he think he was then. To joke about the ‘protection’ he is receiving shows a low level of the seriousness of the position he is striving for. Guess what he was really trying to say was- ‘I get secret service protection and you don’t.’

Sorry, I’ll vote for the one with experience and it’s not Obama. The vice president does not run the country, no matter what. The president does!!!! So Obama is out. All he can do is talk, and say what he wants people to hear in order to vote for him.
I hope the AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE SMARTER THAN THAT. OR, WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE.

Comment by Janice

I am glad he is convinced. I would have voted for Obama, but never, never, never, never would I vote for Biden. I saw him sneer at Alberto Gonzales, and I thought it was so horrible that a Senator would do that. McCain I will vote for.

I would have voted for Obama but I will never, never, never vote for Biden. I saw him sneer at Alberto Gonzales when he was being questioned, and I thought here is a Senator sneering at an elected official. No one deserves that I find him to be very offensive. I will vote for John McCain.

Comment by Dave

This Clinton supporter will not vote for Obama. If I thought for one minute that Obama would be the best person for the job I would have voted for him in the first place. Now it becomes between McCain and Obama and for me there is no really issue. I am voting for the person I believe would be the best for this country and it is not Obama. If anyone thinks for one minute that because Hillary is not the nominee then that means we will all jump on the Obama band-wagon then I think the DNC is in for a rude awakening. Obama may win but not by the landslide that they think and many of the Democrats will if they have not already leave the Democratic Party

The great and powerful Obama has come down from the mountain to ordain Biden - good.

I am absolutely esctatic that Biden is there. In comparison, Obama seems almost like a child. Not that Biden is wise, or intelligent, or has experience expanding freedom. To the contrary, Obama has finally picked a mentor who can help him learn how liberals really stick it to the people of this country.

For Example…
Obama was just talking about how average incomes rose under Clinton. Maybe he didn’t learn anything in Harvard. Average income is a very good indicator of the rate of economic exchange without significant taxes pulling that money out of circulation. (More people exchanging more money with less taken out to feed the tax beast). Perhaps Obama can have his new teacher, Biden, explain some of that, after all he is supposed to be knowledgeable on all financial matters.

Now, some of that “income” is actually from the dotcom boom/bust, where Democrats seemed to allow thieves to profit from pumping and dumping worthless stocks based on unverifiable claims. President Bush was left to clean up the fallout from the dotcom bust, after the shell game Democrats allowed to exist finally ran out of new investors. However, many retirees (read as “the rich”) lost their life’s savings that they invested in these dotcom companies as well as the income from that savings. Since it re-distributed wealth, I suppose Democrats couldn’t be more pleased with themselves and now they are blaming it on the Republicans.

Biden’s State is dependent on corporate taxes, and Biden has aligned himself with a candidate, Obama, who wants to END capitalism. If Delaware voters didn’t understand the error of propping up Biden, they will soon. Biden won’t be able to win re-election in Delaware by the time this is over.

—————————————————————————————————————-
This is a prime example of the average Hillary supporter. The truth shall set you free. Your comment about being a younge female Democrat, who would have voted for Hillary. That says it all. You don’t care about the Facts or the Truth. You say disregarding 12 million American opinions. Incase you are wondering there were 126 million people that voted in the 2004 presidential election. So your 12 million is only 9.5% on the total number of people that voted. Last I checked the President is elected by MAJORITY vote. Senators are elected by MAJORITY vote. To state that Obama should make a decision solely based on 9.5% of the voting population and not based on the facts, is ignorant at best. “Why would Obama take that risk?” you ask. Maybe because he has weighed the facts. He has come up with the FACT that Biden is MORE Experienced than Hillary when it comes to Foreign policy. Biden is even more qualified than Hillary claimed to be, on forign policy.

But I am Glad that you are doing the rest of the Country a favor by NOT voting. Because your disregard for the issues. And Failure to recognize the Political process. Would only hurt the country that we all love so much. Maybe you and all the other PUMAs will follow Hillary’s guidance and recognize that Obama did not Steal the Nomination from Her. He was chosen by the DNC to represent them in his run for president.

I think people are just scared. Scared because Obama IS NOT like the Presidents we have become accustomed to. Not just that he is black, and yes that does scare lots of people. But Most Importantly, He Thinks. I know that is a Major “CHANGE” from the last 8 years and what McCain has to offer. But the fact remains we need a candidate that THINKS for once. Not one that “Parrots” what the Party wants him to say (I.E. McCain). He has made a wise choice, and he didn’t let all these women with a bug up their @sses bully him into making an unwise decision. Biden can fight, and he can fight without resorting to the dirty Republican Tactics. That is one thing I have noticed from Obama, He is fighting clean. And that is what Got him the Nomination from the DNC.
