Biden Brings Breakfast, But No VP News

WILMINGTON, Del — Joe Biden showed some hospitality to the reporters gathered outside his Wilmington home on the off chance that Barack Obama picks the Delaware Senator as his VP — delivering coffee and bagels from Brew Ha Ha Cafe out of the driver’s side window of his white pickup truck.

Biden, who told reporters yesterday merely that he’s “not the guy,” was even less talkative today, however; asked whether he’d had any phone calls in the last few hours, he said “good talking to you guys,” and drove off down the driveway.

Biden is on Obama’s short list for the number 2 spot, along with Virginia Governor Tim Kaine and Indiana Senator Evan Bayh. Obama is expected to announce his selection by week’s end via text message to supporters; the two will appear at a rally together on Saturday in Springfield, IL — where Obama officially launched his presidential campaign last year.

No one wanted Biden for President so what makes Obama think that they will run to the polls if he is the VP choice.

Political Paparazzi? Being played like yoyos.

And McCain kicked his paparazzi off the bus.

Comment by Catherine

I am a republican, but really does the press not have anything better to do than hound the potential vps for either party? There will be time enough to do so once the victim is selected.

Maybe Biden decided he better play nice.

I hope Biden is the VP pick…..can’t wait to have fun with the bumper sticker - obama biNLAden ‘08 -!

Comment by Dr. RosenRosen

Having Biden as his running mate would be the only way he could defeat McCain. Of course, if I were Biden with all of Biden’s accomplishments and his record, why would I consider ruining my political career by tying myself to that clown. Obama is an empty suit, a flash in the pan, he will go the way of the dinosaur following the elections.

Comment by Dr. RosenRosen

No way Biden joins up with this clown. Obama is a child playing around in a room full of grown-ups. Biden should tell him to go run and play somewhere else.

Comment by Jazziette

I did want it to be Biden but after the VP Feeding Frenzy of yesterday……it suddenly doesn’t matter anymore. It’s like “whatever”! I feel like I am being teased and it has become rather annoying! ;)

Comment by Olutobi Adetayo

The obvious choice to make up for what Obama lacks in foreign policy experience is Joe Biden. However, for unity and to make up for what Obama lacks in support among white working class / Older voters, hence an assured landslid victory in November, the obvious choice is Hillary Clinton

I don’t get why Obama haters are so wound up by his name. It implies that every president with the name John or Geroge is going to be a good or bad president based solely on the name his parents gave him. This preoccupation with Obama’s name is juvenile and pointless.

Comment by Ed Martin

After watching the Rick Warren interviews of both Presidential candidates, it is clear that the choice America will have is one of substance over style. McCain does not come near Obama in style and the reverse is true. Running the country? Substance over style anyday.

I am an over-50 woman who wants change and could not support Hillary - obviously I’m one of the few.

I have strongly supported Senator Biden from before he announced his candidacy. Thanks to the Big Media and their greed for Big Bucks, they made this a beauty pageant instead of an election. Senator Biden is the most qualified for President, let alone Vice President. He obviously has and enormous amount of foreign relations experience and he has proved himself over and over again. He has also the respect of the blue collar white male, and from what I’ve gathered from the net, an enormous amount of females support him as well.

Senator Obama could no better in a choice for a Vice President - not only to bring in more middle class workers, but he and Senator Obams could have America respected once again.

Comment by jeri

Biden was my guy during the primary but won’t support the ticket unless it “flip”. I hope Biden will distance himself from this clown!

Biden is a GREAT pick!! Most of the people making comments on this blog don’t have a clue about how politics work. Biden shores up weaknesses, has the respect of the congress and senate, but mostly he can bring in a large number of the white vote. Blacks and Hispanics are going to show up in record numbers for Obama. Democrats never when the white vote. Even Bill Clinton lost the white vote and he destroyed Bush. All Senator Obama needs is a slight increase in the white vote, Biden will provide that and Obama will win easily. Don’t be fool by the polls saying McCain is getting closer, that’s to keep your attention. The media has to make money and because most of you morons get your information from TV, the best why to keep you watching is to tell you it’s getting close. McCain will lose and he will lose BIG! By the way, I have helped over 650 people register to vote, and at least 635 of them are voting for Obama, and of that 635, 467 of them are white. Good-bye Republican Party. You don’t have to go home, but you have to get the hell out of the white house!

The electoral map so far looks better for Mccaine.
This could end up being the same electoral map Bush,Gore. and Bush Kerry.
The extreme left wing liberals would vote for Obama.
But the once in the middle would vote for MCcaine.
Mcaine is good for foreign policy, health care, the environment and he is a bipartisan poltician.
I am a democrat but this time I would vote Republican.

If you call canned, pandering responses all from his stump speech any sort of substance than I guess McCain would have to be your man. I for one saw one candidate with absolutely no depth (McCain) versus a thoughtful and deep candidate (Obama). If anyone is an empty suit in this election it is definitely McSame. I used to be a supporter, but he’s not any bit the candidate he was 4 or 8 years ago.

Go Obama-Biden 08!

Comment by Bill

Hey Chuck:

Are you on drugs? First, are you referring to Bush 41 or Bush 43 because Bush 43 never went up against Clinton. Second, Clinton never even got 50% the two terms he won. So, again, are you a moron or do you just talk that way on purpose?

Comment by fos_cali

I hope Biden doesn’t accept and distances himself from this guy. Not that it will make much of a difference anyway as I think the American people are wise to the better candidate (McCain)

Joe Bidden is just like the rest of his tax and spend friends in congress. Fly off to a forgein country
and come back and say he wants just a small $1 Billion dollar check to rebuild what the Russians have torn apart. When are we going to start spending on our own country and I don’t mean via Pork barrel projects like the hospital where Mrs. Obama worked (Nice paycheck there). Talk nice and carry a big check book that’s what it seems like.

Between Obama and McCain—

This guy would actually be the best choice for President. I don’t think Obama will elect him because his personal values and opinions are to strong (that’s why nobody else ever did) and his personal character will not allow him to change his stripes.

He’ll go down in history as being the absolute best qualifed candidate possible in 2008 from either party–but unable to compete against the superstar status of Hillary and Obama, and unwillingness to take the brave steps that Lieberman took.

HILLARY MAY BE ANTICIPATING A DIFFERENT OUTCOME AT THE CONVENTION

The Democratic convention is not over and done with.

This is exactly the kind a response I would expect from a McCain Supporter. No substance…

Comment by Josephine

I would prefer Hillary Clinton, but Joe Bidden is a good choice also. I’m excited for the elections and support Obama whom I see very well qualified, energetic and ready to CHANGE our nation. Please do not leave this to McCain; a mirror to Bush who has our nation in the hole.

Michael,

You libs are so sensative like little girls. How about growing yourself a pair (or get them back from you girl/boy friend) and lighten up. We conservatives know that Obamamama is a loser and will go down in flames like Dukakis.

By the way, it isn’t the name calling that gets you, is it? It’s because now everyone knows Obamamama is a Marxist and now you have to admit to the world that you are one too.

Hail Comrade!

Obama lies, If he really cared about Clinton supports why said Hillary would be on any body’s shot list and not even vet her just to satisfy her supporters as a good will jester. I like Bidden but I will vote Republican for the first time in my life. I wonder if Rev. Right will be in the basement today in the Old Capital.

Not only does Biden add experience to the Obama ticket, but he shows excellent taste in coffee. Brew Ha Ha! is, by far, the best coffee house I’ve frequented. Now, if Biden’t taste in coffee translates into gains in Iraq and the economy…
