Marquis, I would rather vote for the guy who has an idea of what he’s doing. Economics are not influenced by the president. Congress passes pretty much everything involving teh economy, only the average person doesn’t realize that because ad’s like these make people think that he is single handedly going to do this completely forgetting we have a legislature.

And Paul.. if you’re going to make a point you don’t tell the person to get a life. If you want a point to stick you say it in such a way that doesn’t make you look like an ass. upper middle class is 100k-120k or so per year. 80k-100k would constitute as middle, and lower middle class would be around 60k-80k. If you don’t like that breakdown, than perhaps it has something to do with the fact that you didn’t do well in high school and have never seen an annual income close to that. Even waiters and waitresses get 40k per year on average, and I would NOT call them middle class.

Well, I am not an American citizen. I am a permanent resident though. I have been in this country long enough to see a change. It is real that we are having a shrinking middle class; it is real that globalization continues to ship job overseas; it is a fact that the USA economy is anchored by the American consumer; it is real that health care costs in this country are outrageous; it is real that the upcoming generation will have to deal with a different world than the baby boomers. Now we have to ask ourselves, should we continue business as usual, or should we have a paradim shift in the way we look at things. How are we going to compete in the new world if we lose high paying jobs to India and China and force many people into law paying service sector? is it in our national interest to have all our products come from one region? I know it is cheap, but isn’t that a threat to our security? How secure will America be when we have a few people with all the money and the majority without even basic safety nets? Isn’t it in the interest of the blessed that earn a lot to pay a little more in taxes to invest in the less fortunate? Is it immoral for the high earners to pay a little more in taxes so that we can invest in our military and national defence complexes? is it immoral to ask for high earners to pay alittle more to invest in research? All the nonsense I hear about high taxes do not add up. I support Obama on this, there will need to be sacrifices. Everybody will have to carry their own weight. Why should single moms losing their houses to foreclosure contine to pay for buidling roads in Baghdad when the government cannot help them here?

I think it is you who are mistaken, the middle class will not get “Taxcuts”, they will just be allowed to keep some of their money that will be exposed to taxation after he would let the Bush tax cuts expire, which are not just for the rich but tax cuts for all income level. If you have ever taken an economics class, you would have learned that by increasing the tax rate, the economy will be hurt and will slow down. Not only that, if the tax rate is increased on companies, for example, EXXON, the incurred costs will only be passed down to the consumer. Now if your complaining about how much you make or someone else makes or the difference between the two, it sounds an aweful lot like class jealousy to me. Obama is out of touch with reality; a maverick touting policy of change and hope for those who are poor or disenchanted who does not even understand what we “Bitter Clingers” have to deal on a daily basis. Note the no vote on the middle class taxes and social security tax and the 5% cutting of waste in government to balance the budget. Note that this is how Obama plans on taking care of the middle clas as this is his votes as of March this year. Neither candidate has business or economic degrees. They will both promise things that can only be passed in congress. A person’s income level can be influenced by so many factors (cost of living and accrued debts) why should someone get any tax breaks more so than anybody else. If they buy or spend more, they will be paying more in taxes anyway. There should be no income tax. Wages/income should be all take home and if people want they can pay into social security. If you have a flat tax then it is absolutely fair. People who have more money to spend will buy and invest, thus paying more in taxes. A flat tax on all goods and services will have illegal immigrants and foreigners also paying into taxes as long as they buy things in the USA. Who can tell me with a straight face what percent of taxes should be paid by $XXXXXX income level 35%… 40%… 45%…50%…90%? Do you see how ridiculous it can be?

You make some very good points. Also, I think most people don’t know that the “upper class” Obama wants to tax, pay 85% of the taxes already. They also create more jobs than anyone else, because they spend more. It’s our society of greed that thinks just because wealthy people make more money, we should tax them more. My daughter and her husband paid their regular taxes this year, he works in Qutar, a middle eastern country, the government includes his housing, flights home to see his family, and food while over seas as income so they paid $14,000.00 more in taxes. They are what Obama classes as upper income because of the over seas housing and flights and food. He works over there because his job here went under due to taxes and insurances and etc. So to make money he works where he can get it in his field. So in order not to pay the extra taxes he would have to pay for two homes and his own trips home and his food while over seas but he would not get a tax break. So when I hear Obama wanting to tax them even more because he “supposidly” earns all this money is insane. The $14,000.00 they paid over was for what his company supplies to all their over seas employees. In reality they took in about $75,000.00 in actual income before taxes. So figure out what is left. They earned about $45,000.00 this year, If Obama gets elected and raises their taxes again it will be about $35 to 40,0000.00 if they are lucky and in the mean time my grandchildren and their mother are without their dad and husband because they have to live.

You may think this is great but by whose standards are you going by? A donation to help the poor should be a choice not a demand, if you do not earn enough get a part time job, of another job but it is not the job of people who are working in 100 degree+ heat to support their families job to support others. That is communism not what this country was founded on. Also several of the Americans working with him are buying homes in other countries because of over taxation here and in fear of the democrats taking over this country. So not only are we losing our companies we are losing the people earning higher incomes. Who will pay the taxes then as my son wants his family to move to France or Italy and out of here. My country is driving my family out of it and that is a crime.

California is a preview of what is to come — KC’s scenario on another scale. Our State taxes will jump dramatically this next year, because California refuses to stop paying the health care, education, and other benefits for the non-stop influx of illegals. The retiring Baby Boomers are leaving California in droves. What is going to happen when there are more freeloaders than tax payers to support them? Between Fed and State taxes, I’m paying out 40% of my paycheck. Obama will raise my taxes even more. I live in a working class neighborhood, because I can’t afford to relocate to a middle class neighborhood. So much for working hard and getting an education. (Of course, I’ll be paying back student loans for 10 years, because I didn’t qualify for the free education that both candidates want to give illegals.)

I suggest that Congress and the IRS examine the idea of taxing individuals, not on Income, but on the square footage of their homes. For instance -

Apartments up to 25% of income
Single Family Homes up to 35% of Income
Mansions 95% of income.

You might want to tell your step-son this. If he stays in Qatar for 11 months, and spend no more than 30 days in the US he is entitled to an $80,000 tax exemption. That would mean, all his income is TAX FREE. He should know this as well, if not pass on the good news.

What economic plan???…one of deceite..one of class warfare…one of misrepresentation…one of wealth-redistribution and tax those drivers of our economy further and further…..one of pandering for votes with promises of “economic rebates”…..with the keys to the kingdom they will create socialism is all it’s failed glories from time past……create greater dependency on oil sources by keeping this nation from fully developing a viable energy program (nuke/more drilling expansion…our own source of energy) thus continuing the drain of wealth from the USA to 3rd world where they want it to go……creating “change for change sake” which will “change” the face of government into a greater entitlement state bourn by the middle classes……….Obama’s solution are not new they are old…socialism (failed0, expanded taxes and entitlement…all dem pride and joys with “I know your pain and taxation is the way to salvation”……a perfect storm of a disaster….and the dems know it…and that is what makes it so dangerous. Obama’s plan will make the USA more energy dependent, more economic dependent on the outside, will drive away investments, will scuttle everyone’s retirement accounts, drive away jobs and in reality pass any tax increases to EVERYONE !!!!

Its revealing that all the pro-McCain folks can do is mirror McCain ads by being negative Obama, while having a hard time finding anything great to say about their own guy McCain.

By the way, any party that always has to fall back on “fear”, whether its regarding guns, gays, religion, terrorism, etc. to get you to vote for them is manipulating you. Will you ever wake up?

To Mick the Mouse: Obama didn’t say the UN from what I’ve read but rather he mentioned NATO specifically and that there needs to be international peacekeepers in the region instead of Russian peacekeepers since they obviously are one of the 2 sides present in the current situation in Georgia.

Russia while to blame for military action into Georgia in provinces beyond South Ossetia it should be noted that escalation began due to the Georgian military being ordered into South Ossetia by the Georgian President when Georgia has not had government control of that province for the past 16 years since Georgian independence and a war from 1990 to 1992.

Don’t call Barak Obama an idiot without realizing you can then characterize John McCain the same way considering only days ago he said it was improper for a nation in the 21st century to invade another nation without thinking about the fact the United States invaded Iraq in the 21st century.

Anyone who would vote for Obama would be better reached through advertisements during the Special Olympics.

Let’s be clear that being President of The United States requires leadership and vision, not just effective and efficient management. Those qualities are needed for the cabinet and those that support them. Some people ask “where have all of the leaders gone?” Well, there is a great one in Barack Obama ready to lead the US into a better future.

How so many of are are perfectly willing to give tax breaks to the very wealthy and take crumbs yourself is just amazing. This country was founded on very libertarian principles of self determination, and yes: socialism, liberalism, and all the other words you make up for yourselves are at odds with these principles.

I am near the top of what would be considered lower middle class, but just because I am not wealthy myself doesn’t mean that I should have a right to anything earned by those that are wealthy. Hopefully I’ll make it up there someday myself; if I do it will be because I worked hard, not because I received handouts. The entitlement mentality is what is destroying this country: everybody feels as though they have a right to everybody else’s property. If all of us had back the 40% or so of income that is extorted from us annually in taxes (between income/sales/cap gains/etc), we’d be much more able to pay for health care, retirement, and anything else that came our way.

The key is to live within your means! I am 25 and live on my own, yet I still manage to stash away almost half of my income every paycheck. I don’t have some of the toys that my peers have, but so what? Nothing drives me crazier than seeing somebody in line at the grocery store paying with WIC checks and food stamps while yapping on their brand new 3G iPhone.

I am sick & tired of hearing about Obama. I would rather vote for an unknown person than him. You, the new people, need to get over him. Why do you have to report on every fart he does. Many you could his turds & analyze the color of his turds. I just want him to go away & stay away.
