Does anyone else realize the cost of oil is so high because we helped to destabalize the middle east with our invasion of Iraq. We also pushed Iran into a position of power while we were at it. If we were being responsible the first time around, none of us would be in this position today. How can we trust McCain to bring the cost of oil down. It is just a matter of time before he has us in another war. Listen to his comments. He would invade Iraq again today because Saddam was “petro-dictator.” These are his words people. I heard the visit last all of one hour. So what is the really story here?

Too bad Barack didn’t decide to do something special with his time off, something many Americans who understand the struggles of those who “have not” encounter on a daily basis - namely, devote his time to his community. As a “community organizer”, it’s a shame he had to give up any activity on that front in order to spend full-time on his campaign, including a vacation that he likely thinks will provide photo-ops engineered to show that he and his family are “just like every other American”. Too bad he still doesn’t get any of it.

Personally, I was laid off from my job this year, and like all other Americans (except Barack and those subsidized by all taxpayers), I’m facing increasing prices for energy and food. Unlike other Americans, I’m one of the very fortunate ones to have enough savings to keep my home, feed my family and provide some stability while I search for a new job. I’m so grateful every day for what I have, and what opportunities are avaliable to me in this great country. Too bad Barack does not understand any of that.

The site of the American flag gives me hope, but a hope that I will embrace the great values that are uniquely American, and will act in a way that will make other Americans proud to call me one of their own. That is the hope all Americans have, and it’s sad that Obama has somehow lost sight of that in his trip up the ivory tower.

I just hope we don’t have to look at any pictures of Barack and his family at a local luau, disguised as a picture of him breaking bread with a local community in Hawaii. I just hope he isn’t arrogant enough to not realize how much a picture like that would turn our stomachs. Maybe he should take something from recent video clips of John Edwards, where he admits to being egotistical and narcissistic. Maybe he should really look in the mirror, not through it.
