Seriously folks, do some research or rather read whats been provided. Don't suggest because you take care of certain maintence on your vehicle that everyone else does. In my experience common sense is anything but common. Just on tuneups, air filters, and properly inflated tires you could be saving 68 cents per gallon in usage, compared to someone that does not make these steps. Not to mention the safety issues attributed to underinflated tires.

"
Keep Your Engine Properly Tuned
Fixing a car that is noticeably out of tune or has failed an emissions test can improve its gas mileage by an average of 4 percent, though results vary based on the kind of repair and how well it is done.

Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent.

 Fuel Economy Benefit: 4%
 Equivalent Gasoline Savings: $0.16/gallon

Check & Replace Air Filters Regularly

Replacing a clogged air filter can improve your car's gas mileage by as much as 10 percent. Your car's air filter keeps impurities from damaging the inside of your engine. Not only will replacing a dirty air filter save gas, it will protect your engine.
Fuel Economy Benefit: up to 10%
Equivalent Gasoline Savings: up to $0.40/gallon

Keep Tires Properly Inflated

You can improve your gas mileage by around 3.3 percent by keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure. Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.4 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires. Properly inflated tires are safer and last longer.

Fuel Economy Benefit: up to 3%
Equivalent Gasoline Savings: up to $0.12/gallon

67% of all statistics are useless. LOL.

A 3% increase in fuel economy assuming what? Assuming that every vehicle on the road has improperly inflated tires? That every vehicle then would spend all its time traveling at highway speeds? These are assumptions we have to make in order to accept Obama's energy policy. The reason this is so funny is because a "conservative" (debatable with McCain, for sure) made light of such a ridiculous proposal. Of course a properly working vehicle is more efficient. However, with gas prices rising, folks are driving less, creating a bit less demand. That is great! But it isn't the end of this problem. "We can't inflate our way out of this problem..."

For those who are complaining that the repubs are responsible for our high gasoline prices, I say prove it. Supply and Demand will dictate those prices. Either supply goes up or demand goes down, or both, to reduce gasoline prices. Regardless of who is in office, that is what ultimately affects the price. You will have artificial bubbles and dips from time to time, but it always comes back to what, class? Which side is hampering efforts to increase supply? We all know the answer to that one. Listen, the free market will eventually stabilize itself. I don't like to see big oil making lots of money off me, but at the same time, it wouldn't be right to ask them to reduce their margin, which has remained the same, unless you asked Hollywood, the MSM, Microsoft, and the rest of retail America to reduce their profit margins the same. If we do that, then we become something other than American. Dems are now using class envy to manipulate emotions so we will elect them to implement their America-crippling policies. If the dems gain total control, then we will see them try to regulate and/or redirect profits, which will screw it all up - and not just oil. That will drive prices through the roof (they aren't already???). In the mean time, they are trying to deflect legitimate criticism of the tire gauge energy policy of Obama. Their energy policy will be one of regulating profits, restricting anything that will lower the cost of oil and gasoline (because they are increasingly run by left wing kook environmentalists). I saw one guy on here who said the gas prices went down because of Barack's European trip. I wonder what else is going on on his planet...

I'm not happy about my choices for president this time around. I do think that our biggest concerns should be national security and the economy. The candidate closest to ideas that will not destroy our country is McCain. Period. Obama, for everything he has going for him, is just wrong about our security and our economy.

Does Snaz really think the US is part of OPEC???.

I guess that the tire gauge c ould be very handy to measure the hot air pressure produced by Obama and all of the Obamaniacs and liberal Demos. However, I am afraid that the upper limit pressure of the gauge may not be enough! If somebody just could figure how to use all that hot air as an alternative energy supply our problems with gas, oil, etc. would be a thing of the past.
