RNC Delivers Tire Gauges to Obama Press Corps

When the Obama press corps arrived at the Elkhart, Indiana, Jameson Inn where the campaign is staying tonight, Obama staffers were on hand to distribute room keys - and a small white envelope from the RNC.

That’s right, the Republican National Committee.

Inside the envelope addressed to individual members of Obama’s regular traveling press, was a small tire gauge labeled “Obama’s Energy Plan” along the side, and a note that joyously read, “Happy Birthday, Barack Obama!”

The RNC along with the McCain campaign seized upon Obama’s advice to a voter last week to properly inflate her tires to increase fuel efficiency, and have managed to create a sideshow to mock Obama’s “judgment” and “experience” when it comes to energy policy.

Today Obama helped continue the story line when he accused the Republicans of being “ignorant” on the issue.  At his Ohio town hall this afternoon, Obama said, “They think it is funny that they are making fun of something that is actually true. They need to do their homework because this is serious business.”

The RNC doubled down on their humorous assault tonight with its “gift” to the press corps. “We hope you’ll enjoy this complimentary tool related to Barack Obama’s energy plan - your very own tire gauge. Because, instead of actually increasing America’s domestic oil supply, this is how Obama thinks you should try to alleviate your pain at the pump,” the note read.

Hmm. McCain proposes gimmick gas tax holiday. Bush’s NASCAR dad base and every blue collar riding lawn mower junkie knows this. So they mock an idea that everyone can walk out of their house right now and do? Shows you McCain isn’t really interested in solutions, only scaring folks into get some kind of win for the energy barons in Obama-Bayh’s next 16 years of rule.

Is this how the RNC chooses to use their money by giving out tire guages? This is a serious issue, and they are making fun of something that would actually help.

Apparently, these elitist, country-club Republican pansy-asses are having many great laughs while the vast majority of this country are suffering on one or more levels… So much for the Straight-Talkin’ McCain (what a laughable myth) who promised a dignified campaign focused on real issues. Like McCain said, they’re all just gonna keep having a good ol’ time through this election, spending the funds donated to them by… OIL COMPANIES… on ‘gag gifts’ like this, or on smear ads intended only to distract the public from the REAL ISSUES impacting REAL AMERICANS.

Kudos to McCain for highlighting the complete immaturity of Obama and his so-called energy plan. I suggest that everyone actually read his plan. It looks like something that came out of Soviet Russia.

Comment by good morning iraq

Obama’s energy plan will keep us dependent on foreign oil forever. We will never break our need for oil completely that’s why we need to drill here at home. I firmly believe in other sources of energy also but let’s be realistic. McCains proposal to offer a reward to anyone who comes up with a viable alternative is an excellent idea that I think will work. One of our problems isn’t the oil companies but the lack of incentives for someone to come up with something better.

Comment by Dave

Obama’s suggestion to properly inflate tires is nothing new. The fact that people are touting it as a great and bold move on his part is simply sad.

Everyone with a brain knows to properly inflate tires for best gas mileage. Most of us learned this during the 1970’s gas crisis.

SUre- everyone should ensure they are doing everything they can to conserve. Great. But that won’t get us out of this mess.

We need to do multiple steps to get us out of this. And releasing oil out of the strategic reserve is just dumb. That oil should not be touched unless there is an emergency- like $10.00 a gallon gasoline.

OBama, once again, has proven his inability to use good judgement.

Comment by Sherry Martinez

Hey Jack the cost of oil came down when Bush and McCain said we should start more drilling not because we are using less fuel .And I think the tire gauge is very funny nobama has no plan. Why should we continue to pay for Mideastern oil when we can start drilling our own.Read your history it has always been the democrats and the conservationist that have kept us from drilling for the last thirty years. Even now they are blocking it especially pelosi she is a real b and power hungry she is obama vice president .

Comment by Bitter Clinger

Oh grow up you Obama supporters. Not wasteful by the RNC. Hit home, that’s why you are all so miffed. I think it’s pretty funny. I don’t know about all of you but I am spending upwards around an extra $250/month in fuel to get to work and errands. I don’t think inflating my tires and tune up( Today’s vehicles really don’t require one due to the computers) will save me that much at the pump. I already do that. Idiots. Who doesn’t? It’s common sense. How embarrassing to a be a mindless Obama supporter who can’t even figure that out and has to be told what to do. Obama supporters don’t derserve to be called Democrats. You are nothing but sheep with no original thought. Drill here, Drill now. Yeah you sheep keep conserving and when your beloved Dems raise the fuel taxes because they are no longer getting as much revenue due to your conserving, don’t whine. You keep arguing about jobs going overseas, what do you think is happening when we don’t drill for our own oil or produce our own energy. Hello, China drills 60 miles off our coast but WE CAN’T. Think of the jobs that will be created if we were able to drill.

McCain or Hillary ‘08

Anyone but Obamanation

Comment by jefferson

Ruh Roh…

It looks like McCain himself could use one of those. He’s now agreeing with Barack, and reality (see the FactChecks) on this sensible idea to cut down on fuel use.

See this —

Predictably, Obama hit back calling McCain’s mockery “ignorant,” arguing his plans were being misrepresented and saying that experts backed his call over tire pressure. Equally predictably, McCain’s camp hit back.

The surprise came during a telephone town hall meeting McCain held on Tuesday with voters in Pennsylvania.

“Obama said a couple of days ago says we all should inflate our tires. I don’t disagree with that. The American Automobile Association strongly recommends it,” McCain said.

Comment by Matt C. - MO

Hey rockynroll, I am a real American facing the same real issues that everyone else faces. I’m from Springfield, where Obama made his comment, and while it’s true that making sure your tires are properly inflated will increase your MPG, it’s ridiculous to say that Americans would save just the same by doing that as we would if we got more of our oil sources from home rather than relying on OPEC. And therefore I find this little gag (which, for the record, probably cost next to nothing to do this for just Obama’s traveling press, as tire gauges are not expensive) actually pretty funny. Obama has no real energy plan; he’s said no to everything that would help us (increase nuclear power, drill at home, give temporary relief via lifting the gas tax), until he sees that the American public heavily support offshore drilling and so he changes his mind. At least when McCain was against offshore drilling, gas prices were still $2.50, and as they rose higher and higher he saw the emergency and the need to get our oil from home. Obama was against it until last week, and in actuality has previously said that gas prices should be at the price they’re at, just that it should’ve taken a little longer. Screw that!

Comment by LA Mike

This jesture is not the joke, the fact that Obama wanted to suggest proper tire pressure as a solution to the gas crisis however, is about the funiest thing I’ve heard so far.

Comment by LA Mike

This tire gauge stunt isn’t even the joke, the fact that Obama suggested proper tire inflation as a way to help us in the oil crisis, now that’s funny.

Comment by Lindel Brinegar

Actually his comment is only true if too low (like below the minimum tire pressure quite a ways). All tires have a range of operation that when changing within this range is negligible on gas mileage. This is quite funny. Most people notice when a tire gets below the minimum and do something. To believe that this could actually help the problem we have is ridiculous. The fact that we depend on foreign oil is the problem; not low gas mielage. Even if this were true and we all inflated our tires oil would still be overpriced because it is no longer based on supply and demand. It is all now based on speculation due to an international market. It needs to be 100% domestic to eliminate the need for extreme speculation.

Comment by kenneth findlay

No that MCain flip flopped again and now agrees with Obama, that having correct tire pressure will save the U.S. 3.8 BILLION barrels of oil per year..Don’t all you Fox watching, anti American, hate mongers feel a little foolish?

Comment by Louie

Has anyone read the headlines today? Iraq will have a $79 BILLION surplus this year. . .and have spent very little of their own money on rebuilding.

What say we just make Iraq the 51st state of the United States and use that oil until we get our own?

Just a thought.

FactCheck.org: Barack Obama “Does Accept Donations From Oil Company Employees, And He Has Two Oilmen Working As ‘Bundlers’ For The Campaign, Collecting Donations.” “We faulted him earlier for a TV ad in which he claimed, ‘I don’t take money from oil companies.’ In fact, he does accept donations from oil company employees, and he has two oilmen working as ‘bundlers’ for the campaign, collecting donations.” (Brooks Jackson and Lori Robertson, “Oily Words,” FactCheck.org, http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/oily_words.html, 4/11/0

Dig deep into the “BlogSpot” and you will find the following. . .along with a LOT more stuff. Why isn’t FoxNews bringing this up???
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FACT: Barack Obama has taken nearly $400,000 from oil and gas company executives and employees, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
· Barack Obama Has Received At Least $394,465 In Contributions From Employees Of Oil And Gas Companies. (Center For Responsive Politics Website, http://www.opensecrets.org, Accessed 7/31/0
OBAMA AD MYTH: John McCain has proposed additional tax breaks for oil companies.
FACT: Barack Obama’s claim that McCain favors a $4 billion tax cut for oil companies is totally misleading. John McCain has proposed cutting the tax rate on all American businesses across the board from 35 to 25 percent. Unlike Barack Obama, John McCain favors no special deal for big oil or anyone.
Comment by matt R
lol…. not only is this amazingly funny, but directly to the point that obama has no idea how to deal with situations of this degree. keeping your tires inflated does save gas, BUT does not bring down the price overall to actually save you money. this is the only thing that he can come up with to steer away from dilling for more oil.
thank you mccain for showing us that you do have a sense of humor.
Comment by Tom Joyce
The Dems seem to want to get away from the word “drill” as much as they can. I mean, come on! Give me a break with this stuff. Do all of it, we need energy, we don’t need anymore nonsense about inflating tires and getting tune ups! Find some coal, drill for oil, harvest corn and sugar ethanol, run the car off water … whatever, just do something.
Mitt Romney so expertly compared and contrasted Obama and McCain’s ideas on energy the other day.
Comment by GOOD GUY
I think this was great. But hey have you seen that Iran has made 79billion in profits on the oil. Democrates say over and over Republican sponser big oil (American comany) with this drill here drill now plan. Well They sponser foriegn oil with this let keep buying Iran oil through russia. And look how much they made. So would you rather pay and American Company or a terroist nation. And lets see the American company only made 11B vrs Iran which made 79B. Plus not only do they want to keep sponcering this foriegn nation but they want to tax the American one. What logic is this.
The choice is yours where is the change you talk about.
If you vote Obama you vote tax Americans and pay Opec record profits and finiance their war against our solders.
If you vote McCain you vote Drill American and stop the funding to these radical extreemist.
So just why does the democrates want to keep us from drilling? Why do thay want to keep making Opec richer. Why do they want to punish the American Oil company. Follow the money and you’ll find your answer. 4th and 5th party payoffs. Opec is funding the democratic part to vote against Americans.Greed thats why they are doing it.
I here people say.The American oil companies have millions of acres of land they dont use now. What you dont here is only a tenth of the land they have leased even has oil and of that tenth only a small amount they are even allowed access to. It’s like you own land but I own the access road and I wont let you use it. so tell me How are they suppose to use that land. democrats are traiders to the American people.
The Obama campaign should send the McCain campaign travel magazine featuring assisted living communities around the world. Or they could send them 72 balloons for McCain to fill with all of his hot air.
Comment by Rachel
Obama has no real energy plan, and if he really is going to become president, he needs to be faced with these kinds of jokes, because in reality, it is not a joke. Obviously Fancy Nancy Pelosi is not going to allow us to take care of ourselves, and drill our OWN oil, so for the countries sake, the RNC forced Obama to really think about what he said. Did you guys notice that the day after the RNC did this, Obama CHANGED his stance on drilling oil in Alaska? Now he is FOR drilling, so their plan worked. And I’m sorry but Obama we are not idiots-we DO keep up with our vehicle, but pretty soon we won’t have the money to do that paying out the butt for gasoline and for all your stupid ideas to give our money away to the lazy bums in this country. Someone needs to do something quickly or we will be sucking on the Middle Easts breasts for the rest of eternity.
Im an independant and I want an Obama Energy Plan Tire Guage!
Lets be serious with ourselves, for the past 80+ years we have known to check our tire pressure, check our oil, check our air filter, and a slew of other car care techniques. Obama (the candidate of change?) is not telling real americans anything new. Other than his plan to revive the Windfall Profits tax I have not seen him stay concrete on any energy issue. We all know taxes are awesome right? (sarcasm)
Nice that the McCain campaign agrees that proper tire pressure can save Americans a lot of oil and gas. After all, the US Energy Department and NASCAR both concur. Glad to see that the McCain campaign is again following Obama’s lead. McCain makes an excellent “follower.”
i have a question for all you lefty dems out there.why is it that you people are so filled with hate and anger? i’ve been a conservative political geek for 30 years and the one of the things that i have noticed in reading different blogs,both liberal and conservative is that people on the right are more happy and have a better sense of humor than people on the left.if you look at the “paris hilton” ad, senator mc cain was trying to make a serious point but injecting a little humor also.you libs react with rage.get a life! it’s the same thing with the tire gauge thing,lighten up. it is true that we would save some oil/gasoline by checking the air in our tires,but in reality it would only be a drop in the bucket compared to what we actually use.we have to drill!!!
Comment by tj stelten
Like the experts have said, inflating tires would save big bucks. McCain is becomming a pathedic clown! I’m even begining to feel sort of sorry for him! Amazing because I have no respect for a man that would have an affair. Especially when his wife Carol was crippled! A man who would do that is not a man that represents the morals and judgement I want our President to have. Just my humble opinion…..
Comment by Bitter Clinger
I believe it was Nancy Pelosi 2 yrs ago that promised us she would lower gas prices, end the war in Iraq etc. What a bunch of idiots. Now she’s closed shop along with all the other dems and won’t allow a vote on drilling. They went on vacation. I wonder why? Maybe because 75% of Americans believe we should drill. It will most likely pass. Something she can not afford to have happen. Wake up people. Obama himself said he wasn’t upset with gas prices. His only concern was it rose so fast. He would have preferred a gradual increase. His own words.
Vote all the DEMS out of office you can. Tell them we won’t stand for this kind of stonewalling.
Comment by GrammieJ
What a waste of money from their campaign, unless maybe big oil donationed them, you think? That was just about the most childish thing I have ever seen from “the white hair dude”.
Comment by ren
Ooooh. I want one! It’s great that McCain is helping us all to save gas like this! Sadly, he’s charging $25 for one of these. I guess it’s the only way to get his supporters to contribute - selling a collector’s item with the next President’s name on it.
Oh well, I’ll probably just go to Sears.
Comment by Dave
More cowbell!!!
Too bad the dems just don’t get it.
Clearly the solution to high prices at the pump is to use more gas.
Comment by Richard
“Everyone with a brain knows to properly inflate tires for best gas mileage. Most of us learned this during the 1970’s gas crisis.”
Many of the people who will be voting in this election weren’t even alive in 1970… or 1980 for that matter.
Properly inflated tires could help save gas milage. That being said, I just put that under the category of “tip” not part of any realistic plan to reduce energy consumption.
I think it should be up to the individual states to decide if they want to allow drilling in their own territory. Otherwise we get a lot of, “Yeah, lets do it! Ohh… but not in my back yard.”
I am not thrilled with either Obama or McCain. America = The Loser.
Comment by JM
Honestly, I’m a bit put off by this ‘gag’. I look at my neighbors who are trying to save energy by keeping maintenance up on their vehicles, walking/biking more, and generally being conservative with their personal fuel consumption, which is just what Obama is suggesting. I look at them and the sacrifices they are making, not only for themselves, but for the good of society, and I think, “The tire gauge joke is just not that funny.”
Obama is doing what a good leader does, and that is, at the same time as working out the issue on an executive scale, ALSO helping to guide people to do their part as well. A leader shouldn’t pander to people saying, “Oh! Well, the government is going to fix this for you, you just WAIT! It’ll fix everything!”, which is what this gag suggests to me the McCain camp is pushing… A leader should look at a problem and say, “Okay, this is what we, on the government level, are planning to do and it will help. It will take time, but it will help. In the meantime, we need you to band together and do these things, like keep your tires inflated… etc…”
I am am American! As an American, I feel a responsibility to do my part, even if it doesn’t seem like much, to help with an American crisis. I see other Americans doing this as well, and I am so proud of my countrymen for it. I suggest that the McCain camp not put too much of a light face on the efforts of real, honest, good people trying to make a difference.
I was leaning toward voting for Obama but all this press is really turning me off. I am so sick of seeing his face, that I am not sure I can stomach him. This press thing has gotten totally out of hand and it is true, he appears to be more of a celebrity than a politician.
I can only say that McCain is looking better all the time. And, frankly I though that Ms. Hilton’s commercial or whatever you want to call it shows just how ridiculous she really is. She is disrespectful and dumb. I do not find her amusing at all, I am sure the media will this is what sells as far as they care concerned.
I can only hope the right person wins the Presidency, because I really am beginning to worry about Mr. Obama’s background, friends and what we do not know about him. It just seems that things are leaking out slowly and let me tell you, he may not be the right choice after all. But, time will tell.
Another thing just showing how less than intelligent the RNC has become, so I guess we don’t find solutions to problem we distract people with gimmicks.
If they would check facts before they do these stupid things they might actually get it right.
But the fact is that tire pressure is really important when it comes to MPG. But I guess the RNC as on everything else rather be ignorant and do what they always have done, as their rich friends make more money and most americans make less and our once rich country goes down the gutter.
Juvenile at its best, stupid at its worst.
Republicans seem to want to become the party for short sighted and juveline poeple.
Lets try to stop the decline of the American Republic before its to late, vote for change not for the same.
Look around you the US is not what it used to be, give it a few more years of Republican governing and we will all be in the poor house and China will outsource low cost jobs to the US.
Your military will be in shambles because you simple wont be able to afford it or have the manpower that want to serve. Forget about our large houses and large cars as you wont be able to afford the energy for them. But rest assure the fat rich people will live in fortresses and will have everything they desire.
Have you checked our national debt lately? And who do you think will make the profit from offshore drilliing, you? Simple economics more oil will not make you pay less for energy but conservation actually will.
Wake up fellow patriotic americans before its to late!!!
It’s hard to believe that there are so many americans sepecially in the GOP who are really nuts. what Obama said was 100% correct but yet they are laughing their heads off showing the world what real bunch of idiots they are. Sure the rest of them will vote for McCain in the November.A country deserves the leadership it get. From the outside it is getting clearer to most of us why their economy is in such a mess. Clinton a Dem fixed it 12 years ago. Big spending Bush and the GOP throw everything out leave the country with the biggest deficit ever. Yet they are shouting their heads off saying the Dems are are the big spenders. Amercians happen to be in love with GOPs who would do anything to promote their selfish interests. They cannot stop thinking about how much they can make out of OIL. Americans only need to look over their shoulders to see who benefits from the high oil prices. the oil companies. While they are complaining about high prices; the oil men (associates of BUSH and CHENEY) are laughing all the way to the bank. Can this America show true leadership to the rest of the world? I doubt it. The world might have to wait a few more years for the Chinese to arrive.
The RNC is clueless. They are all in the big oil’s back pockets and will do anything to make sure Big Oil makes even more money. McCain is not the same. He is old and bought out . Do you think the bikers went there to see McCain or topless chicks, hmmmm let me guess.
McCain camp.hmmm how can we inject McCain into what appears to be a big crowd of supporters. Oh I know , let’s follow Kid Rock, (wife beater) on stage and be a guest CELEBRITY to a bunch of drunk bikers who want to see some T&A.
The price of fuel has fallen the past couple of weeks because President Obama went on his overseas trip. Screw the Dems.
I ‘m voting Republican this yr.
As a Republican I am embarrassed that the RNC would stoop to childish pranks as evidenced by the tire gauge ploy. No, it’s not the primary way to solve the gas problem, but it sure doesn’t hurt to highlight something that WE ORDINARY AMERICANS can actually do to help our situation. Start acting like adults again, RNC!
Comment by Patricia
The McCain camp needs to listen to Anderson360. His news staff did a fact.find and discovered that having tires properly inflated/deflated, will in fact save up to 3% on gas. That is an immediate gas-saving approach. So, whenever McCain camp or RNC does something as stupid as giving Obama a tire guage as a joke, they don’t look funny, they look very ignorant. AND they actually boost Obama’s statement.
The McCain camp also is using the term “all of the above” to refer to their energy plan. What does “all of the above” mean? Are they referring to Obama’s list of energy solutions in addition to offshore oil drilling? That is what I took from this because they did not specify what “all of the above” includes.
Finally they do something right for the american people!
All I can say is…..WOW! The McCain’s campaign really is proud of their displayed ignorance KNOWING that it does make a difference when tires are inflated properly. I can only hope they were trying to draw in others as ignorant as themselves, it is personally an insult to the American public if they think that in general it doesn’t know better of Senator Obama and his plan along with mockery of something that is proven by all experts in the field.
Good job, McCain……this just displays a small bit of what you and your campaign have to offer the American public if you make it to the highest office in the land. Take Obama’s advice and get educated and make good on your promise of a “clean” race……woops, too late for that!
Like most old folks McCain’s maturity level is reverting back. Right now he’s apparently gone back to his high school days of playing practical jokes. He obviously wasn’t studying back then he graduated 489th out of 494. So I guess next year he’ll be drooling and pooping his pants if he doesn’t already.
I know this is kind of a complicated idea but using 3% less oil through conservation is the same as producing 3% more by drilling in environmentally protected areas. Seriously. If you still don’t believe me let me put it in terms that you might understand. Eating less Big Macs would have the same effect as exercising more…and it doesn’t cost you anything to eat less.
I think the reality is this:
If Obama is going to make a foolish statement like “Inflating your tires to the proper level is going to save as much oil as we’d get from drilling” then he’d better be prepared to take some ribbing for it. Especially when the fact of the matter is that most Americans already are doing this.
For me, it’s a welcome suprise to see that the RNC can use humor effectively. Bravo and keep it light and you can’t loose.
“We will never break our need for oil completely that’s why we need to drill here at home.”
You do know that whatever is drilled here will simply get sold on the open market to the highest bidder, right?
The joke here is that some people seem duped into thinking this is a significant plank in Obama’s energy policy. It is the classic straw man argument that has been Republican bread and butter for years. If you choose to remain ignorant on his actual policies, then so be it. But don’t speak as though you know of what you speak.
Real issues - mindless etc etc etc. Case and point, BO does not know what he is talking about and this is a simple “mindless” stunt that proves the point. Yes we ALL know we can improve our fuel economy by regular tunes ups and properly inflated tires. Lets all remember he said we could save as much as we would produce by drilling off shore. Which of course in a very incorrect statement made by somebody not equipped to be President. But on the other hand, perhaps if the followers misquote the facts often enough we can hide or blur the facts. Others don’t bother to seek out any truths and are content to listen to any rhetoric as long as it coinsides with their own thought process or beliefs.
“Tire Gauge” is actually a sarcastical respond for an ignorant proposal.
What I find funny is that while McCain thinks sophomoric quips and gestures like this and his “celeb” ad are funny, every election simulator I can find has Obama winning the general election no less than 95% of the time. Can you imagine this man as President??? I hope that when he faces Obama at the first debate, Obama holds up his arm to give McCain a high five and then says, “That’s for the tire gauges…now wave to the camera. Oh, wait…”
I checked the air in my tire and the price of gas stayed the same…it’s weird how that works!
Democrats do not want, can not allow, any improvement to the price of oil now,
it is their plan to “MAKE” oil cost as much as they can right now. If there were to be any improvement they are afraid, very afraid, the Rebublican administration could recieve credit
for that decrease… So pELOSI’s plan is to make the American people bleed and hurt now,
in order to force them to buy into the “empty democratic bag of promises” code named” change.
Do not be fooled, force her to do her JOB, of American Congressperson, She works for you…
Tell her what WE the People want done. Explore, Drill, and recover oil HERE in our country
NOW!
Take the DEMOCRATS finger out of your eye, It will stop hurting…
Tell Congress they can not take your freedom…
Tell the Democrats to go to work and DO something …
Tell Congress We want to drive on our own oil, not terrorist’s…
GO TO: —-http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/index.htm
you can email every congressperson and senate member from there…
Tell them you can see them.
Let B.O. know where he can store the tire pressure guage!
Wait a minute….Obama is the one who started this thing! He is the one who said for everyone to check the pressure in their car’s tires. No one can do this without a pressure guage; I think it was very generous of the RNC to provide the tool necessary to carry out Obama’s energy plan. With gas at $4 + per gallon, I’m sure some of the recipients of the guages cannot afford to buy their own. I say keep up the good work RNC — you truly are looking out for the little guy!!!
Obama certainly does have a point, proper tire inflation of one’s tires will probably improve gas milages slightly. This is the type of advice I’d expect to get from my mechanic or a gas station attendant, not a world leader proposing real solutions to real, serious problems. If there’s a God and Obama loses this election, he should check the help wanted adds for a position at Jiffy Lube.
While Senator McCain’s camp was wasting money on something like this, I believe Senator McCain said today that he “agrees” with Senator Obama. Drilling at some “may” and I stress “may” help with the cost, but that is still some time down the road.
Checking your tire pressure doesn’t cost more than the pressure gauge which can range from .99 to a couple of bucks. But it could make that gas in your car go a little farther, potetially saving you some money (probably about as much as a gas tax holiday:-). But if it something that could be adopted by more Americans, yes, and it was proven last night, have the effect of saving up to 2 million barrels of oil.
Something so small, but yet can be very effective. Look at the price of oil today, down to $117 per barrel. This is due to the “supply and demand” that everyone seems to talk about. Drilling only helps demand (and that’s questionable), but McCain never seems to address demand.
Americans have drove the price down by realizing that WE were part of the problem. We took fuel for granted. Now we realize that by changing our driving habits, reduce our demand, we can somewhat lower the price of gas on our own. It is called, making a sacrifice. We are driving less, conserving eneregy in our homes, business, etc. As a result, prices are coming down. And guess what, we did it without Congress and the President.
Senator Obama is the only one that has addressed conserving as part of the ‘whole’ energy issue. Demand less, prices fall. It’s the other half of the “supply and demand”.
Typical republican nonsense. I can’t imagine anyone voting republican this year other than the “fixed news lemmings”.
