McCain drills for ‘Gasolina’
ARLINGTON, VA — Sen. McCain continued his effort to reach out to the Latino community by inviting Puerto Rican Reggaeton star, Daddy Yankee, to campaign headquarters Saturday afternoon.
The Latin Grammy Award winning performer, who first hit it big on the charts with his 2005 song “Gasolina,” (above) arrived at the Crystal City offices in a Cadillac Escalade wearing a gray suit, diamond-studded earrings and sunglasses.
“He invited me to have a brief conversation on how we can improve the living conditions in Hispanic communities,” Daddy Yankee told reporters gathered outside campaign headquarters after the meeting, but said he is not ready to endorse McCain.
“We are evaluating the proposal which is very interesting as far as the entire Hispanic community (is concerned),” he said when asked if he would campaign for the Republican presidential candidate. Fellow Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin endorsed Hillary Clinton during her primary campaign this spring.
Campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds said McCain and Daddy Yankee had a productive conversation but did not discuss any details of their meeting.
“There were no LP’s cut. There was no joint performance. It was private meeting,” Bounds said. “John McCain has a long record and a depth of experience on the issues that are important to Hispanic voters and we will continue to showcase that as we go forward.”
The Daddy Yankee conversation took place on a day when McCain spent nearly 6 hours at campaign headquarters conducting a number of meetings with senior advisers including Charlie Black and Meg Whitman.

Daddy NO TE peges a este senor que nada tiene que ofrecer a los de Puerto Rico. Mira como le ha tirado a Obama.
You have got to be kidding me. This guy is the biggest prostitute panderer I have ever seen. I would expect this from Barry, but not McCain. Who is running the show at campaign headquarters? Oh, thats right, Juan Hernandez. The sad thing is 99 % of you on these blogs have no idea who he is. So do yourself a favor and see who this turncoat pledges allegiance to, then get back with me.

Daddy Yankee lost the little street cred that he ever had by joining forces with 40 Million dollar man McCain.
Brittney and Obama lip service gives me a head ache, Obama just rips off old reagan speeches.
Alright crank it up Big Daddy Yankee
McCain meets with DADDY YANKEE to discuss conditions in Hispanic Communities. Does this really need to be analyzed or is it just obviously outrageously ironic to everybody? wow. nice angle of mcCain on your Fox website, very presidential looking. Oh my.

I was a Democrat. But I voted for Reagan. Then I voted for Clinton–who was good to Hispanic causes. Now, I switch again, after Hillary lost in the primaries. McCain is the next best choice. He has the experience. Immigration will help the housing problem in America. McCain knows that. All Hispanics should become independents and vote for the best leadership to help our community. Stop being a political football. The Great Depression is coming. The banks are broken. We are all going to go through tough times ahead. Obama is not the answer to our issues on immigration, jobs, housing, and globalization. McCain is the better choice for me–in November. He will save the banking system in this country. Latin America and the United States must work together to solve these problems.
A Dave. Secundo a Taino. Taíno, I’m with you!
DADDY YANKEE!! Make a Song for JOHN McCAIN!! Daddy Yankee is the MAN!! HOLLA!! THis is one Latino the is DEFINATELY voting for John McCain - not that RACIST OBAMA!! For 20 years Obama sat in a church that talked BAD about “White” people. They hate hispanics TOO! I KNOW! - I grew up in ablack neighborhood - they don’t like us either. Obama hasn’t done JACK for Latinos EVER!
Where’s the border fence, Juan? Gasolina that, mi amigo…and step on it.

Why is McCain better then Obama on immigration ?? he was the one trying to bush his bill true the system, giving all the illegals a free pass to becoming American’s.. And what plan do McCain have for our economy ??, the surge in Iraq ?? Sure he will save the banking system, big government instead of letting the free market do a self control..
pity pity… You should try and look at Ron Paul
Ludicrous! or Ludacris… you decide.
So if drilling for oil offshore is so good, why did we have 2 spills in a week ??
and if nuclear power is sucha great energy, why are they now talking about a spill in pearl harbor ?? and what about the 1979 accident at Three Mile Island and the 1986 Chernobyl disaster ??
And with all the waste we would produce, how are you going to make sure it dont end up in the hands of terrorists ???
MCcain need to keep his mind on the important issues, it appears that he has no idea how to run a campaign and is drowning and is trying to stay afloat by hanging on to Obama coat tail. I believe his effort or like of effort will soon disappear. The american public sees what he stands for and that is nothing. I haven’t heard anything positive come out of his campaign lately it’s all about Obama. I truely believe he needs to get a life and trying to become the next president is not the life the american public want him to have. Wake up america and see what he stands for and that my fellow americans in nothing we can take to the bank. I have stop listening to his speechs because i already know what he will say “SOS” same “OLD” stuff. I am a open minded person and believe everyone has a right to their beliefs but i can’t see what he stands for because he has clouded up the water so bad that he can’t remembered what he said the day before but maybe that because of what we call the age thing. I have a right to call it like i see it because i will be 66 soon and do believe we need a person in the white house that speaks positive and not negative about a person. Obama spends to much time counter acting mccains comments, all we want to hear is how can this be turned around and not with 4 more years of the same bush plan.
My Friend McCain, where are our gas tax break ??? or is this just pandering again ??
[...] While Barack Obama’s speech in Titusville, Florida was big news there, and in the close-knit space community, outside of it the speech was ho-hum. The Washington Post published an article Sunday with a Titusville dateline but only wrote that Obama “talked of protecting Social Security, funding space and ocean research, dealing with the threat posed by climate change and getting a home-cooked meal.” Other major papers, from the New York Times to the Wall Street Journal, published nothing about the speech, although both the Times and the Journal mentioned it in passing in blog posts.. CNN.com reported on a press conference Obama held in Cape Canaveral Saturday morning but focused on offshore drilling (another example of energy trumping space?). FoxNews.com did devote a blog post to the issue, alongside John McCain’s meeting with a Puerto Rican reggaeton star. [...]
What does Daddy Yankee know about immigration ? He from Puerto Rico, born a US citizen.
McCain is truly a good man who cares about people and his country. You may not agree with him on every single issue, but at least he is honest and stands by what he believes in…..unlike obama who just tells whoever he is speaking to what they want to hear….even if it is the complete opposite of what he just told another group of people. Kudos to McCain for reaching out to help people and for doing what is right, even when others criticize him for it. McCain has the solution for the war, immigration, energy, continued safe national security, and for fixing our economy. McCain 08!!!

I say we drill, drill, drill in Mexico, build Nuke plant’s in Mexico, send in the Military to protect Mexico, protecting their borders for terrorist……..good for Mexico economy and safe for the US.
Sound like something McSame would like to do.
I think, its is very condecending for John MaCain to meet with “Daddy Yankee” a Hispanic rapper artist (”rapper” defined as a singer who sings “rap” songs, as in the type of music that is aasociated with the drug trafficking scene and such helps to corrupt Hispanics youth throughout the drug scene)to disus his endorsement as if Daddy Yankee was the representative of the Hispnic community.
That just goes to show you that politicians use people to gain votes not caring about the consequences of the image it projects. That´s why this country is going in the wrong direction where the principles of morality and cleanliness of the soul, prayer in school is not as important as a “rapper” a rap artist, something that I as a hispanic am offended a candidate for the Presidency chose to meet because he beleives he is representative of our community.
I am not voting for McCain, just for that. His judgement is totally impaired on what is important to Hispanic constituencies.
I am voting for Mr. McCain, I know that he will do right by us. I appreciate that he is reaching out to my community making Hispanic Americans know that our voice is important and that he supports us.
Well said Jorge.
