So Is Obama Arrogant?
That seems to the theme that’s surfaced of late in the national press, which cites everything from his claim at a recent fundraiser that his odds of winning are “very good” to what Dana Milbank called a “victory lap” of meetings with government and world leaders in Washington on Tuesday to accuse Obama of being not just the presumptive but the presumptuous Democratic nominee.
The latest evidence? A quote leaked to the Washington Post by an Obama friendly congressman in which the Illinois Senator, speaking about his big Berlin speech to 200,000 Germans, told Democratic House members, “I have become a symbol of the possibility of America.”
While the quote has been pushed by the GOP, the Obama campaign has pushed back — and others in the room say the quote lacked context. Obama, they say, was explicitly making the point that he’s not popular because he’s so great, but because others have made him into a symbol of American promise.
So is Obama arrogant? Claire McCaskill doesn’t think so. The Missouri Senator told voters in Springfield today that she hears the criticism. “They say that he is arrogant. That he’s unpatriotic. Blah blah blah blah blah,” she said.
“I know this man. He is humble. He is devoutly Christian. He loves his family more than anything else in the world. He cares about family. He reveres our men and women and uniform. And he is as red white and blue as you can possibly get.”
“He will tell you that this election is not about him, and he means it,” said McCaskill. “He will tell you it is about you.”

This election is far from over. If BO was so great and had this in the bag he’d be up by more points in the polls. He is not patriotic, he is arrogant and he and his wife hate white people. It’s a shame that people will vote for him without knowing anything about him. They think he’s a cool black man. He’s half white but you never hear him talk about that (unless you count him calling his grandmother a “typical white person.” He has no experience whatsoever to be president. This is not an “on the job training” position. Before you vote you better make sure you know where the candidates stand on the issues that are important to you. This is the most important job in the world - vote resposibley. About 96% of black people are voting for BO - most of them are voting for him just because he’s black. If 96% of white people voted for McCain just because he’s white we would be called racists and there would be an uproar.
Now Obamabots are saying that FOX favors McCain? Fox is the only fair and objective news entity that’s left. Try reading the articles at CNN, or MSNBC, or whatever … they have been, and are currently so pro Obama, it’s sickening. This election should not be about popularity, or rock stars, it should all be about experience, judgement and patriotism. McCain is the only choice for President in November.

He is not the same man he was in the year 2000 when he was running for president. Senator Obama should began to contrast the two McCains: the McCain of 2000 and the McCain of 2008. He is like a whole new person. I wouldn’t call him a maverick. A more suitable name might be Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde.

The Republicans and the right wing elite extremists of course must resort to trying to embarrass Obama or personally discredit him with racism, fear mongering and the like. This is because their views and policies are inferior and they have no strategy figured out for themselves other than to attack his character and also of course his wife’s character.
McCain’s dealing with all of this shows a small mind and a reactionary agenda. It shows he is not made of the right stuff to be a strong leader. I respect him. He is a patriot, he served his country, he suffered torture. However, that does not necessarily make him Presidential material. The more I see of him, the less I like.
I believe Obama is neither right or left, Democrat or Republican in his thinking and views. He is simply an intelligent commonsense person with a broad perspective. He also has a strong moral core, and I believe the steely determination to do what is right for America — yes, including the dealing with terrorists and the wars. I believe this is what America needs — what is right for America at any given one time is a mixture of the liberal and conservative ideologies. Not necessarily one or the other.
In fact, I would argue that neither ideology is particularly better or correct. America’s parties, particularly the Republican Party led by Bush and Rove, have tried to split America down the middle in order to execute a philosophy of 50% plus one vote is enough to govern the other 50% minus 1 against their will. This has been more than misguided — it has led to disastrous consequences for the country and indeed for other countries, and arguably the entire world.
I also believe Obama is in fact the mainstream here; he might not look mainstream on the outside, but inside, he is mainstream to the core. And, its what’s inside that counts.
You do not have to reflect direct evidence of arrogance in the typical manner to be arrogant …the bully..or the elitist…this is where Obama exists…..you can see it in his walk…his mannerisms…as if he had been told for many years he is the top dog and he truely believes it. For the military the CinC is their commander but to me he has not particular position….he still has to get the votes from everyone….for Obama he “expects the vote” while mcCain asks for your vote and truely does not put on aires. So when you see both Obama appears extroverted and active but it is all show…while McCain may appear dull at times yet he is the most sincere.
No he is not arrogrant, he is just a nice looking intelligent man that know what he talking about. And most White people can’t stand to see a brillianrt Black person, who know how to speak and handle himself well.

I wouldn’t care if Obama was purple I still wouldn’t vote for him. He is inexperienced and arrogant enough to think it doesn’t matter for the most important job in our country. You can see the arrogance in his walk and the way he moves and talks. Even in the things he says. He thinks he is right and is impatient with anyone who disagrees with him. People in his campaign have mentioned this, only they put a nicer spin on it. Giving a speech like he did in Germany against the wishes of the German government was arrogant. Of course the German officials had to be polite and let him. The guy amazes me in what great motivating speeches he can give but they don’t say anything when you try to find actual meaning in them. There are a lot of black people I would vote for but not this one. Just as there are a lot of white people I wouldn’t vote for. I definitely trust McCain to keep my country safe. Who cares if we have high taxes and poor health care, none of that matters if we don’t have a country. Our number one priority should be in keeping our country strong and safe.

Shame on John McCain, he is an American Hero willing to play politics with the injury of other American Heroes……… How else can you describe John McCain suggesting that Obama refused to visit injured troops because there wont be photo op even though it is on record that Obama had visited Walter Reed 5days prior to the German event without any cameras.
Nobody has the right to play politics with injured trrops, whether you are an Army veteran or a community organiser.
Obama has shown that the majority of Americans are comfortable with a Black candidate for President. But he has also shown that he himself, does not have the qualifications to do a good job of being President of this country. He does not have the qualifications to seek out, identify, and to take every action he can for the good of this nation and of its citizens. He is not prepared to be the Commander in Chief of our military forces.
It would be great if America’s first Black President does a fantastic job of leading this country, so as to make the way easier for future Black candidates for the office. Obama has neither the experience, nor the qualifications, to do so.

I am registered as an independent and have been democratic in the past. I am no longer a democrat as I will not have who I vote for selected for me. I do not agree with the democratic party on many issues, such as energy, iraq, handouts, there are ways of helping people with a helping hand not a hand out. I feel that there should be less government at the federal level. I do believe we need universal healthcare but that it is not like other countries it should remain free enterprise but with legislation governing the costs and no more preexisting conditions outs and no more non coverage of needed procedures.I don’t mind paying for insurance as most don’t but I think it needs to be fairly priced. I say the democratic congress is corrupt and does Nothing but point fingers at republicans when they are sincerely trying to do what the american public wants. DRILL NOW!!!!!!!! I’m sorry I just don’t get the whole Obama is arrogant argument. I thought it was Mccain that gave a speach claiming that he’d already won not just a first term but a second term as president. Claiming he had won the Iraq war and so on… How arrogant is it to presume you’ve already won the presidency twice and a mess of a war that seems to drag forever.
