well u wont have to worrie about your sons being drafted because when the ICBM's fall without any missile defense system to counter them (thanks to obama) there will be nothing left to defend or fight for

I feel sorry for anyone who is voting for McCain thinking that he is going to save ss. Here is someone who thinks privatizing ss is a plausible solution. In the mist of homes foreclosing and a bill being proposed to bail out bad loan decisions by the same people mind you who he' going to turn over their ss funds to invest. This man is rich who thinks the same way as his former economic adviser Phil Graham does America has become a nation of whiners. Don't you older voters think just because he is old he can simpathizes with you, he dosen't have to rely on ss. If he bankrupts it he's not going to suffer one bit. Also I hope you don't have any grandsons who are eligible to be drafted because he is the most war hungry person I've seen. If he wins, everyone who voted him in office should have to sign up to enter the militaryas back up. I have two sons who I have poured my heart and hard work into and I don't want to see them drafted to fight unnecessary wars.

The previous post by Charles is correct. Neither Obama nor McCain has EVER considered raising Social Security rates. All they are looking at is the cap at which rich people get to stop paying (currently $102,000). The top 10% may pay about 70% of the taxes, but this is because they have about 90% of the money.

Here is the example. A person making $200K per year only pays about 3% of his paycheck to Social Security (6.2% on the first $102K). A person making $90K (or $50K, or $25K) pays 6.2 percent of his paycheck.

This isn't about raising taxes. It is about closing a loophole that exists only for the rich. That McCain is at least considering it is a sign of good judgement. I don't want a president who stubbornly clings to positions even when it becomes obvious that he is wrong (like Bush).

History lesson......... Social security was never meant to be your sole means of livelyhood when you retire.It was meant almost as a co payment to pention plans and retirement funds. In this day and age if you are counting on social secutity to bail you out in retirement, you're in dreamland.

I don't mind helping those in need when they need it...I do have a problem of constantly funding those who do not wish to make a better life for themselves. Claiming that you live in a poor area and have no access to better jobs or a better education is a crock. If you want something badly enough then you go out and earn it. Life is not and should not be a free ride....for anyone.

There are so many ways to fund college, especially when you are below a certain income, whether it is through grants or loans...or here's a novel idea, work your way through college, you know GET A JOB.

With a further education you can get a better job and start a retirement fund...instead of my tax dollars. Throwing money at a problem doesn't fix it, it just creates bigger problems.

We can all agree that Mcain is not The best bet for our country. But Obama is the absolute worst.
So unless something magical happens we just gota deal with mcain for 4 years. I would rather that than say bye bye to America. Obama does not cover his heart durring the National Anthem mike. His wife even said shes never been proud of her country and she is like 40+ years old. Alot of great things happened in America durring that time frame. His Pastor and mentor HATES America. What does that tell you about Barak? He wants to skew this country to the way he see's fit. Say bye bye democracy and say hello Socialism. we will lose our position in the world as the number 1 superpower when we become part of the North America Union. Open your eyes!

Taxes will raise more in the next 30 years if McCain wins. He's never even had to balance his own budget. How did the right get it so wrong on this putz.

McCain is stepping in the doodoo. i can see the headlines now. "McCain proposes all Americans get a sugar mama so that we can get rid of Social security". Then we'll find out his first wife is surviving off SS. Mark my word, the current administration is offering him advice. 'Oh yeah, campaign commercials with celebrities would be a great idea. No, you won't look like an old coot.' Then when McCain tanks and loses by a landslide, everyone will flock back to the Bush side of the party. 'well they were inept but atleast they knew how to run a campaign'. This man has some major judgement issues.

Some see flip-flopping as a weakness, but is in fact only a slick, catchy phrase. Those who use it so glibly in a game of political "gotcha!" are fools. We have many very serious social and economic problems in this country which require FLEXIBILITY in thought, and not rigid positions. It is to the credit of any thoughtful leader who modifies his or her position in face of facts or changing conditions. There are several self evident truths that leaders of both parties must realize. First, you can't contiually spend more that you make. Secondly, no modern country can run without oil. That does NOT mean we shouldn't make an all out effort to develop NUCLEAR, solar, wind, & geothermal energy sources. It does NOT mean we shouldn't develop more fuel efficient, hybrid, electric, fuel cell, etc cars. Since the price of oil is based on the futures market, the simple announcement of more domestic drilling will drop the price of oil internationally. More of our dollars will stay in the U.S.A., the trade deficit will fall, and the value of the dollar will rise. Thirdly, you cannot abandon your manufacturing jobs to the third world. Every time you buy from Wal-Mart, Costco, this Mart or that Mart, you are selling out your country for a pile of junk. The top 10% already pays 70% of the taxes. Creation of a Euro-socialist state only insures permanent mediocrity, and limited opportunity for all.

to All americans;

Vote for Obama is a vote for bin laden. Send this creep back to another country. He is no good for USA. He will raise taxes, inflashion, interest rates. He will reduce your buying power. Obama will increase you taxes taken out of your paychecks and the cost of everything will be more expensive. I want to know is it true he does not cover his heart during the national anthem?
