RNC Airs Anti-Obama Ads in Berlin–NO Not That One

Columbus, OH–

Barack Obama may be speaking to hundreds of thousands in Berlin today, but the Republican National Committee is airing anti-Obama ads in Berlin–Berlin, Pennsylvania; Berlin, Wisconsin; and Berlin, New Hampshire that is—thousands of miles away from the big speech.

The radio ad titled, “Obama Chooses Washington Over Our Military” goes after the presumptive Democratic nominee for not voting for funding troops in Iraq, “ Obama said that nobody wanted to play chicken with our troops on the ground,” the radio ad says, “But when it came time to act, he voted against critical resources: no to individual body armor, no to helicopters, no to ammunition, no to aircraft.”

The ad goes on to say that, “Obama chose Washington politics over the needs of our military.” The ad then touts McCain’s veteran credentials, “As a veteran and someone who has always put the public interest first, John McCain stood by our troops.”

It ends with a scathing hit on the presumptive Democratic nominee, “If Obama can’t rise above politics to support our soldiers in a time of war, then how can he claim to have the strength to change the way Washington works?”

The Obama campaign responded saying that both candidates support the troops and the attack was “distasteful and misleading:”

“There are honest differences between Senator Obama’s position on Iraq and Senator McCain’s, but there’s no question that both support our troops. Under the RNC’s definition, John McCain would have also chosen politics over our military when he urged George Bush to veto funding for the troops, and we know that’s not the case,” Obama spokesperson Hari Sevugan said in an e-mailed statement, “This is the sort of distasteful and misleading attack from the Rove playbook that the American people are tired of, that does nothing to give our troops the equipment they need, and distracts from the honest debate we should be having about how we can keep the country secure.”

The ad is much like the McCain television ad, “Troop Funding” which the Annenberg Center’s Political Fact Check assessed–throwing water at the claim that Obama “voted against funding our troops.” The fact check says he only voted against funding once and instead voted for troop funding at least ten times.

It is nice airs ads to talk about what McCain has done as a veteran, When you attack Obama, McCain has not told the American people his plans specifically rather than attacking. We should not also forget that McCain supported the surge from the beginning just as he supported going to Iraq from the beginning, even when there was no weapons of mass destructions. In as much as we respect McCain service, McCain may not tell the American people if he took a nap on the plane that is how his plane was brought down during Vietnam War, just like the missiles staff that slept off on duty today.
Attacking will not bring down the gas prices neither will it restore the American world leadership/respect as it use to be. Saying Obama will rather loose the war than to win election is out of touch, it show the desperations RNC/McCain.

First the McCain camp complains about Obama appearing to be too presidential– accuses him of campaigning in Europe– and now McCain is openly campaigning in Germany with the RNC?
– talk about childish– total hypocrisy.

My opinion is that watching CNN is wasting energy. My Son was serving with The USMC, on the front in Iraq, when Obama voted against needed equipment. I was terrified. Now I feel like we may be attacked again 16 months after the inaugration. Janie

A sad day in American History. Republicans have not learned from their lessons or have they. It seems people will still fall for this B.S. I guess they have learned.

“Distastful and misleading” ok is it wrong or is it correct but not what the king of the world wants to hear. The man has no humility and can not stand to be critisized. He is a case study in arragance and narsissisism. This guy is a real trip.

[...] The McCain campaign has launched both television and radio ads accusing the Illinois Democrat of cut… The attack refers to the one time Obama voted against and does not mention at least the ten times the presumptive Democratic nominee voted for funding—that did not stop McCain from continuing to direct that charge today at his rival adding that Obama would have rather lost in Iraq to win in Afghanistan: [...]
