Colorful Language Continues at McCain Event
Rochester, NH–
Colorful language is nothing new at John McCain campaign events, particularly town halls and the strange tradition continued today when a supporter complained to the candidate about his staff:
“Senator McCain you’re the man we want for our next President of the United States and I’m going to do a little straight talk. You’re a straight talker and so am I, very much,” the volunteer said to McCain, “It is a statement about a lot of your campaign staff members and I’ll tell you right now I’m going to be right on top of their sh** lists, but I could care less.
The Republican nominee-in-waiting quickly uttered “Shhhh” after hearing the obscenity. The supporter went on to complain that the volunteers do more work on his campaign than paid staff.
McCain got some laughs when he quipped, “A lot of them are on work release programs, as you know. ” The woman replied, “That I can believe the way they work. You’ve got to make changes.” Without a hesitation McCain responded, “I’ll put you in charge.”
The Arizona senator’s events seem to attract bad language: a supporter in South Carolina asked, “ How do we beat the bit**?” referring to Senator Clinton. A backer in Pennsylvania cautioned McCain not to get wrapped up “in all that bullsh** nasty politics” and those are just two of the less vulgar examples.
It was a feisty town hall with McCain having another back and forth with a woman who was steadfastly against the war in Iraq. After initially getting booed by supporters McCain told the crowd to be quiet and let her speak explaining that dissent and conversation is what the town hall format is about. They went back and forth in a civil manner even though the woman continued to disagree with McCain. He used the Iraq talk to go after his rival, but said he respects his view:
“I believed that a change in strategy and the surge would succeed and indeed it did. Now Senator Obama said he wanted us out of Iraq and that the surge would not succeed and that it would have failed now. I respect Senator Obama’s view. I just think it is wrong.”

So, a few McCain people swore. Obama HIRES comedians to open for his acts who do not speak in the most refined way. This story is ridiculous.
At the republican caucus the main McCain supporter was an older man who was using very rude and profane language as well.
It would seem to me that pelosi, reid, and others
are deliberately causing pain, to the American people
in order to enhance some lunatic plan
to make “change” appear to be the only salvation.
Call them on it, make them answer!
colorful language?!?! well all know intellectual people that can critically and precisely expose diverse views are not part of McCain supporters….
I love McCain! I dont see a way that Obama could possibly beat him. he is a war hero and has much more senority in office. Also he apeals to just about everyone.
Yep, the poor Neanderthals in the south that support a cause that is based on hate. Could you expect any different from people in the south?
What can I say? He’s won me over. I like his gruff, clumsy directness better than the staged hauteur of Obama. Beyond that, I looked into the policies and facts and McCain seems to be right more of the time, has more experience, and gives plausible solutions.
republicans have limited vocabulary so don’t be too harsh on them when they try to speak.
This just shows how Mccain can’t even run his own campaign. He shouldn’t be running the country. At least the volunteer has a backbone to stand up and speak out. Mccain sadly does not have one.
Really? you are surprised by these words? Have you spent anytime at all with the real people of America? These words are very common in everyday conversation. If you are surprised by them I suggest that you get out some more.
Am I supposed to be offended? Am I supposed to believe that no one in Obama’s world uses swear words *ever*?
I am not and I do not. This is a non-story.
Wow, the media is trying so hard to spotlight Obama and find anything negative even closely related to McKain. This is another blatant example of bias in the news media. Nothing was even mentioned about McKain’s views other than how he differes from Obama. To think that a few cuss words in a town meeting made the news…
So….. this is news worth printing ?
terrorists swear a lot too.
at least obama doesn’t hold town-hall-terrorist-swear-fests.

Wow, the media is really trying hard to spotlight Obama while finding anything negative that could even remotely be linked to McKain. This is just another blantant example of the bias in the news media toward Liberal thought. There was not even any mention of McKain’s opinions at the event except to contrast them with Obama’s. To think that a few cuss words at a town meeting made the news…
This is one way for McCain to make headlines. Maybe he can rip off Janet Jackson’s blouse or make some more rape jokes. That will get him some coverage.
I am no McCain supporter, but come on. People use foul language. It’s not as if McCain is up there swearing like a sailor. Where is the story here?
Wow, just another example of the bias in the news media toward Liberal thought. They are trying really hard to spotlight Obama while finding anything negative that could even remotely be linked to McKain. I see through your plan!
Wow, just another example of the bias in the news media toward Liberal thought. They are trying really hard to spotlight Obama while searching for anything negative that could even remotely be tied to McKain. I see through your plan!
Why are you surprised? This is how the people speak in teh heartland. This is not a story, this is life.
This is news? Really?
this is bs , think about john kerry, his daughter and their sewer mouths. well kiss my grits.
The Arizona senator’s events seem to attract bad language, eh? Maybe that’s because the Arizona senator’s events attract the kind of losers who don’t know any better than talking like that in public. The kind of losers who would vote for him, in other words.
oh no someone used a bad word. better blacklist ‘em.
At least there weren’t any N words.
Well at least they’re weren’t any N words used.
Speaking with obscene words and stupidity are generally associated with each other when it comes to impressions.
It is good to see an unbiased story on Fox News Maybe if you keep this up I will give your news channel another try.
This is a non-story. As if snow-white lilies, sunshine and rainbows were all that ever fell from democrat supporters’ lips. Just go to DU or DailyKos to see abundant evidence of that. They’re a lot more foul-mouthed, and a lot more consistently so, than say the people at FreeRepublic.
You call those examples “colorful language”?
I’ve heard Black ministers say worse!
Oh, that’s right! It was Barack Obama’s Black minister and Rev. Jesse Jackson describing Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton.
They weren’t even arguing policies that they disagreed with.
It is a shame that the s word is regarded as an obscenity, and is so bad, it is vulgar but far from obsence. Meanwhile Jesus Christ, God, Hell, Damm, SOB fill our airwaves. It is time FOX stands up for something. Your programing is obscene, and you are trying to make a big deal about some fairly mild stuff. Why waste the time to make something out of this?
Oh c’mon. If you really believe that “colorful language” is unique to ANY campaign, you have no business reporting on politics.
Are you serious - is this what we’re writing about. We have serious issues in this country and articles like this only serve to distract from the real issues . The media serves a serious role in this democracy. One that is intended to help “we the people” make informed decisions about our candidates political positions and solutions to problems that face this great nation.
Yet, the best we get is that “someone said a bad word at this candidates town meeting” or that candidate doesn’t wear a flag lapel pin. A lot of people sacrificed their lives to secure the right of this great country. So next time you wrap yourself in your freedom of free speech blanket, remember that you owe the memory of those people a lot better than this weak journalism.
Sorry - this doesn’t seem like much of an article. A handful of curses, over the course of a year, in a nation of millions?
The real story is - how come the volunteers are working harder than the paid staff? Is it just a perception, or is it true? What does it reveal about the attitude of true believers vs seasoned pros?
Classy.
-sigh-
Thus goes the level of our national discourse.
How sad.
Throw the b*tch out!
Kinda quiet in here!
Not like the good old days when Ron Paul was in the mix, huh?
This is a bad article.
Unfortunately, Obama is too cowardly to meet McCain’s offer to debate in a town-hall style forum. Obama gets about as far without his teleprompter as an H2 on a three-dollar fill-up.
Sen. McCain needs more than “colorful language” to spark fire in his belly. He has been handed his hat by Maliki and he doesn’t know what to say or do let alone go from this! The clock is ticking the natives are restless “O” star is shining more brightly so when will McCain deliver “language” we can all get excited about?! Starting with outlining a crystal clear exit plan from Iraq and a real domestic policy we can believe in??
Don’t the sheep use the same language as the wolf ??
Puma, vote Ron Paul
The lauguage use by people who support McCain in those so called “Town Hall Meeting” is to be expected, they mostly uninformed voters, they would have to be to support McCain. Equally they are intelligent enoungh to overcome their racist roots, or too old to accept changes. I’m constantly asking, who in there right mind would vote for an obvious demented Old man, who is constantly showing that he is mentally unfit to hold the most complicated job in the world. Yet so many people are ignoring this mainly because Obama is Black. Therefore no matter what Obama does, he will always be Black, so if you people would rather put your lives in the hands McCain, God help you.
Did anyone see the clip of the FAR LEFT RALLY in San Fran where a far left liberal was
filmed spitting on an Iraq war veteran. Yes this is what we will have in the White House
if Obama is elected
Lack of intelligence seems to follow the Republicans and wimpy McMummy. How did that happen? Inbreeding is rampant I see..
You should read the book Obama wrote. He swears right to left and top to bottom.
I couldn’t believe my eyes what I am looking at. He even made the tapes for that book and swore so many times…F….
Obama people swear all the time… This is not new. I believe the guy who talks to Mccain if spy from Obama!! for sure looking for troubles!
Ignore him and just go on to take him to White House!
Obama sucks and he pretended or acted like already President which he is Not !! or Never be!
He is so immature and fake and lier. He pretends a lot ! He thinks better than any other blacks.
I wonder why blacks won’t feel that way instead of shutting their mouths.
Mccain 08′
Republicans+McCain=Cro-mags
Didn’t Obama’s camp call Hillary a bit*ch and use a few really good cusses about her? I don’t get it? Why is it a big deal? So some one said bullsh** and the news blows it into a story? Both sides have a few people who use more colorful language but it isn’t the candidates saying it so get over it.
Have you heard the language Obama’s Hollywood supporters use? These high profile stars use language that makes a sailor blush. I mean, Chris Rock and the other comedians who trash McCain and conservatives cannot seem to speak without expletives. To all the liberals that equate profanity with stupidy or hillbilly or hicks, make sure you are not throwing stones in your glass houses. Your hypocisy makes me sick. The blind followers of Obamunism will do anything to evade serious questions, even character assassination, where there was NO wrongdoing on McCain’s part.
This is a non-story. My god, McCain gets ignored my the media while the major anchors follow The Obamassiah on his field trip and the only new the media can find about McCain is this?
Ridiculous.
I see nothing wrong with McCain’s language. We need a leader with gonads. Obviously Obama has none.
Jacob S. Wow, just another example of the bias in the news media toward Liberal thought. They are trying really hard to spotlight Obama while finding anything negative that could even remotely be linked to McKain. I see through your plan!

Wow, can you spell Mc Cain? He is your candidate and you can’t spell his name? Silly of me to ask but how can you say you know his position on the issues if you can’t spell his name? Best of all you did it twice in another comment. Your are definitely a Republican. Shame shame shame, however it seems you have no difficulties spelling Obama.
Let me spell it out for you Jacob S.
G A M E O V E R!
OBAMA 08!!
At least no one mentioned about cutting off Obama’s nuts. That is just left for his own ilk.
As far as I’m concerned, McCain does not have the class to be President. Any man that calls his wife a cuxx, is the low of the low. If that were not enough, think of his so called gaffes lately. Think about how that would play on the world stage. The man is really not very bright or he’s losing his memory..either way, thats scary!
You can’t be serious?! Colorful language by McCain’s supporters somehow means that he is unworthy to be a candidate? puhlease! Do you go out in public, ever? This is the way America talks.
Oh but I bet Obama’s camp is full of “gosh darn it” and “golly gee”, right?
Seriously, why doesn’t the media just admit they want to… er, perform oral pleasure on… Obama and get it over with.
So what, there is worse things said, remember Jesse Jackson? Why don’t we hear about that, the media is afraid to say anything, get Obama off his throne. Before he takes off on his flying carpet again!
How Americans can get a president who nobody knows who really he is?
Ayers, Wright, etc…..mmmmmmmmm….smell bad. Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.
I wish you would have printed the discussion between McCain and the woman against the Iraq war. I heard it on the radio and it was hillarious. The woman kept making point after oint while all McCain could do was try to attack Obama. I guess the main point being if the surged work why do we still have troops there.
I have never heard so many ludicrous remarks about McCain. McCain’s track record in the Senate compared to Obama’s in the Senate (and Illinois) is like night and day to show what each stands for. This language deal is just hype, depending which side you are on
