One Big, Happy Party

Just a few months ago Democrats were split down the middle. Team Obama v. Team Clinton. The schism was deep - and made deeper by comments Bill Clinton made on the campaign trail - gaffes, some might say - that seemed to further divide the Party.

Today - just about a month after the contest ended - the rift is no longer. So says Barack Obama.

Obama and Mrs. Clinton stood side-by-side in Unity, New Hampshire, last week and just yesterday, Mr. Clinton told Obama he would campaign with and for the presumptive Democratic nominee during a 20 minute phone call initiated by Obama. “President Clinton continues to be impressed by Sen. Obama and the campaign he has run, and looks forward to campaigning for and with him in the months to come,” a Clinton spokesman said.

At a press avail in Ohio today, Obama praised Clinton, and enthusiastically welcomed his help on the campaign trail. “He is one of the most gifted public officials of our generation and you know has been one of the most successful presidents that we’ve had in my lifetime, so I want his active involvement, his active participation,” Obama told reporters.

Obama said the two did not “belabor” what was said during the primary season, but that they both acknowledged that words may have been said that “afterwards you may end up thinking, ‘Ah, it might have been a little intemperate.’” He continued, “But that’s the nature of political campaigns. We are absolutely united in wanting to make sure that Dems succeed both in Congress and in the White House in November, and that we can move an agenda forward that’s actually going to help the people in Ohio.”

clinton wanted to be president and could not even run a primary campaign “on budget”
In debt $22,Million - - now begging for funds to pay her bills.
What a JOKE!
Why do the American people put up with this ?
This is the best we can do?

“In the last week, Mr. Obama has taken calibrated positions on issues”
Translation: He is telling the voter what he thinks they want to hear
regardless of reality, because he actually has no position.

The Clinton’s no more support Obama than they would support Bush.

Comment by Christines

Many former Hillary Clinton supporters are working behind the scenes. There are many groups determined to stop Barack Obama regardless of what Hillary Clinton says about unity!

Comment by Dave Richards

I think Obama’s comments about bitter blue collar voters and his advisor’s sneak trip to
Canada stating he is just political and fully supports NAFTA coupled with his divorce from
his Church and his Pastor were absolutely devasting to Obama.

Comment by Dave

I am so glad that Obama thinks that everyone now thinks he walks on water. I for one will not support him or any Democrat this time around because of the actions of the DNC. If I wanted people at the top to pick my candidate then I would not of bothered to go to the polls to vote. I will vote Republican this time around and anyone who does not want to see a repeat of this type of action in the future will not support the Democratic candidates in this election. The DNC needs to get a wake up call.

Anyone who believes anything Obama says at this point is deluded and especially in regard to the Democratic Party being united. The only thing that I see as ‘united’ is the effort to rid our party of the devisive and corrupt influences of Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama.

Puma Democrat for McCain 08!

Comment by American Eagle

You have to just love the Dems. They will run anyone, and I mean anyone, with the belief the person is the best thing since sliced bread. Then, after the November elections, they’ll scratch their heads in disbelief and blame the EVIL right wing conspiracy. All politicians, and political parties conspire; its the nature of the game when trying to win an election. The trick is to seem that you’re not doing it. As for Wesley Clark, comon! Wasn’t this guy dismissed by his Commander-In-Chief Clinton during the 1990s? If this guy rose to the rank of General, I feel sorry for the military. He is a fool when it comes to politics or any understanding of it.

DNC/Obama forever departed from core voters. We’ll be republicans for the next 4 years, in my estimate; until such time as the party is rescued from the socialists.

Obama needs the Clintons but I hope the Clinton supportes can see through this as an action pushed by the democrats power-palyer who pushed Obama onto us namely Pelosi, Reis, Dean, Brazile. The Clintons have no choice but to do what they are told to. I am not sure how the Washington machine works but I read not long ago that Soros has the democrats in his pocket ans he can destroy anyone who does not play by his rules. So I guess that would mean the Clintons to.
To all of you - please vote this November with your consience and whith your mind. Ask yourself who would better lead this country in the next 4 yeras, who would help US become energy independent and who can you trust.

Comment by Jenny J

Let me see. So far Obama has insulted the military, the latinos, the Clintons, women, the Christians and most of the Jews.

With the convention coming next month and Obama’s nomination hanging by a thinner and thinner thread everytime he opens his mouth, it’s looking better for Hillary every day.

Keep it up, Obama. You’re doing fine.

For those of us who remember and enjoyed the 1952 TV show, “I’ve Got A Secret”, hosted by Gary Moore and, later, the great Steve Allen, we can once again enjoy a real life version of it being played out on the political scene. Will the “real” Sen. Obama please stand!

I will never believe that Bill Clinton will really forgive Obama. For the first time in my adult life, i dont beleive a word the DNC says.

Of course Obama would say this! I know people that supported Clinton that will vote for Obama, and I know people that supported people that supported Clinton that will vote for McCain. I’d say the split is about 60/40 in favor of voting for Obama, but this is still a large number of Democratic Defectors.

Obama,
you r a cheater man! you r the most opportunist and just like mos of the recent politicians. You cheated Hillary and millions of american people. Now begging for their support. We will see……. If you can perform 50% of what Bill did for this country, then we will think of considering you a big achiever……..
Shame on you……You can make fool to young voters, but not their parents, womens and seniors……..You r still in training stage.need to learn a lot from Hillary and Bill……… Try to learn first before you ruin this country further….

Comment by Cassandra

I’ve got news for Obama…don’t forget about the women. I can say with confidence that there will be a large proportion of women who will never support you. I am so disgusted with Obama’s lack of experience and as far as I’m concerned he basically stepped on Hillary and the women’s movement with his sexist comments and behavior. Obama will lose because contrary to the pundits belief women will NOT vote for him in November.

Comment by Mark

Guess what, Obama is wrong. It is NOT one big happy democratic family. As former Hillary supporters, we are no longer supporting the party financially, and we are absolutely voting McCain in November. Just saying it’s so doesn’t make it so, Obama. McCain 08; Hillary 2012!!

Comment by Linda Mahoney

Obama can only dream about “unity”!

He and his supporters trashed Hillary and demeaned and disrespected her and her supporters as we canvassed neighborhoods and held signs on street corners. And now they want us to kiss and make up! Good luck!

And now Obama has turned out to be the Chicago politician that we warned the “idealists” about! What a surprise! He’ll say anything to get nominated, then he’ll do anything to get elected.

What did you think 100 “present” votes in the Illinois legislature indicated? This guy will sit on the fence until he counts which yard contains the most $$$.

We can now admonish you to do what you have shouted at us: “Suck it up!” You all had better send him some cash and canvas those precincts, because we won’t. P.U.M.A. [Party Unity My A**!]

Comment by d-man

I’m not saying that Obama will be the perfect president, but it’s kinda funny how people are bashing this guy. It can’t be worse than what we got for 8 years. Some of these democrats are going to vote for McCain because Hillary Clinton did not win the nomination???. John McCain might be a good president if he wins the presidency, but “REPUBLICRATS” should vote for McCain because they feel that he is the best person for the job, not because of spitefulness of Hillary’s loss. And I still feel that some whites will not vote for Obama because is of african-american descent. I believe that some caucasians who went from hillary to mccain are hiding their racist attitude. Is this going to be like this when african-americans reclaim their ownership of this earth???? And when this does happens(and it’s coming soon), I feel that some african-americans will change their lifestyles,(drive-by shootings,gangs,drugs,gansta-rap,etc), and will bring peace to this earth. Barack Obama may be the start of that example. Maybe that’s what some caucasian people fear. But whoever wins (obama/mccain), please do right for ALL americans, and the world, and especially the almighty GOD.

OH the spin OH THE SPIN! Like they are really going to say WE MESSED UP! Just wait until this election season starts. Obama s going to help pay Hillarys 22 mil debt. I can see why she would say she supports him.Heck! For that kind of money I’d support the devil himself. I ask you,do you see the same light in her eyes and face as she says she supports Obama ? (NO) She’s doing what she is told to do by the Dems and she wants to get her debt paid. Some will follow her but most won’t.

Comment by Jane

Absolutely right! Obama, Axelrod, Dean, Pelosi, Reid, the MSMs destroyed the DNC. People voted for Hillary because they thought she was MORE QUALIFIED THAN OBAMA. They didn’t WANT OBAMA. So why would they want Obama NOW? John McCain is the next best thing, if it isn’t Hillary…and the rest of the Republicans better not cause any trouble or Obama will win, despite the help of the Hillary supporters.

You got that right! Hillary in four years! Obama is a disgrace and the most liberal of the party are mad as hell he is moving toward the center. By november he will be a right winger! He panders to each crowd differently. He lies. He has been a big zero as a US Senator! He is seldom there to vote, and then he is so wishy-washy he votes “present”. What a skirt! Michelle you sure are lucky! but then so is he! I can see her knocking him up side the head each evening.

Ok… as I remember the story at the top read, “Bill Clinton Tells Friend ‘Obama Can Kiss My Butt’ ”

Where was Bill? He still hasn’t said anything. Get on your knees Barry. You got some Butt Kiss’n to do…

Hey Obama, this Hillary supporter will be voting for McCain sweetie.

Comment by Carla

Obama is a fool if he thinks the people can’t see through him and his so called ideas with no real plans. The act of paying Hillary’s bills demonstrates what kind of leader he would be - throwing money anywhere to look good, but not taking care of what needs to be done at home. Let Hillary take care of her own debt, and instead, throw the cash he would’ve used for that at the oil refineries or anything else that would lower the gas prices for the real americans who have ALWAYS been proud to be american.

Comment by Jdaddy

I just read a story about how less than 40% of Americans likely to vote in the next election could name a substantive difference between Republican and Democrat policy, and looking at the comments here, it is quite obviously true.

I mean, only someone completely in the dark about the major policies of each party could swing from Hillary to McCain! Either that, or you are so full of hate that you can’t put your emotions aside long enough to think about those policies (which I think encompasses too many of you here).

Seriously, if you’re voting for McCain, at least know what his policies are. Oh, and know that they are nothing like Hillary’s.

Comment by nan

Chucky, I liked that! Yep! the seams are stretching, Obama has no clothes!

Comment by MarkJ

Why does the media and DNC keep saying all the Hillary supporters will automatically come together and vote for Obama? Saying it doesn’t make it true, so, why keep repeating it like it is the truth? Where does this arrogance come from? It is not true the DNC and media needs to get over it and start telling the truth.

I’ve worked with the Democratic party for years and see a trend that I’ve never seen before, at least not in the areas where I’ve been working with the party. There are at least 500 Democrats within this area. The majority of Democratic voters are sick of the way the DNC selected their own candidate while overlooking what the people want. Sick of the corrupt caucuses and corrupt superdelegates and being allowed to override everything by selecting their own candidate. The majority of us came to the same conclusion (both women and men) it is not a good idea for one party to take over Washington.

It’s looking more and more like the Democratic party is worse than the Bush gang of thugs. The majority of Democrats (in my area in North Carolina) will vote for McCain or not vote for any presidential candidate but will vote straight Republican in other races. In spite of what the media and DNC keeps telling the general public there is a big movement to keep one party from taking over Washington. This is the first time in my life I’ve seen this happening in my own party and I’m sure it is happening all over the country. I don’t care what the polls are showing. I do know most of us hang up on telephone polls.

LOL at all you people and your “PUMA” silliness…

Are you that immature and vindictive that you would vote for the GOP just to spite yourselves?!?!

Meanwhile, the USA is the most hated country in the world, Iraq and Afghanistan are messes, and our economy sucks.

Yet you’re all advocating 4 more years of the same Bush policies ’cause your panties are in a bunch because Hillary didn’t win.

Please get a grip and grow up.

WE NEED A CHANGE.

Obama as Prez and Hil as Veep are going to provide that.

Thanks,

Not all Hillary supporters are on board for Barack Obama. I’ll be voting for John McCain. I’m tired of people pointing out that Hillary’s positions and Obama’s are the same. Hillary didn’t belong to a racist church for 20 years. Obama listens to anti-white hatred for 20 years in his church, and then has the utter gall to lecture the rest of the country on race. That’s what I call nerve.

Comment by johnr

Anyone who believes all is well amoug the Dems is a fool. The Leadership, if you can call it that, is doing its best to try to scam the rank and file into believing all is good. It is not good, the Democratic party let us all down. Obama is not ready for the Presidency, pure and simple and he may not be fit to lead at anytime due to his extreme left leanings, even after he gains some real experience.
But he was shoved down or throats at the expense of Hillary Clinton.
McCain is much closer to what most Americans want and need in a President by a long shot than Obama. No matter how misleading his new-found “Centrist” stance is, I believe most Americans will see OBama for what he really is once he is forced to actually explain his stances and reconcille his primary promises against he recents proclamations.
He isn’t a change - he is exactly what we need change from.

Sorry, I do not believe this for a minute. There is lack of unity. The party is divided and sorry if Obama thinks that it is not. Things are not GREAT!!!!

I don’t know where the MSM gets its news - but I don’t think the Democratic Party and UNITY should be printed in the same article. We are so divided that I now get my news from FOX - what does that tell you about what I think of my party. I have never voted Republican - but it has been said that it will be a historic election. Unless the Dems wake up and have Senator Clinton as their nominee - this will be my first election voting Republican.

I can tell you right away though; his political experiences can be completely written on the back of one postage stamp, and still has room left for any comment!
You got it? Practically speking, he has NOTHING! except a couple of years at his senater’s office.

The DNC thinks that they do not have to listen to the people that have voted them into the senate and supported the Democratic party for decades. They actually think that we will change our minds when we go to the polls in November and vote Democrat. If you feel as I do please vote in November and vote against the Democratic Party so that we can send a big message to the Democratic Party that we the people will not be ignored. Personally I will for the first time ever in the 30 years I have been voting request a Republican Ballot and vote for McCain in November.
