McCain - Obama Town Halls a Likelihood?
For the second time, John McCain has proposed holding joint town halls with the Democratic nominee during the course general election campaign. For the second time the Obama camp responded positively to the idea.
“As Barack Obama has said before, the idea of joint town halls is appealing and one that would allow a great conversation to take place about the need to change the direction of this country. We would recommend a format that is less structured and lengthier than the McCain campaign suggests, one that more closely resembles the historic debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. But, having just secured our party’s nomination, this is one of the many items we will be addressing in the coming days and look forward to discussing it with the McCain campaign,” said Obama campaign manager David Plouffe.
Of course the idea of a Lincoln-Douglas moderator-less debate was originally Hillary Clinton’s idea.

This wont happen, Obama only does well when speaking in front of large crowds with a memorized speech. McCain will cut him up when they had to speak as if at a coffee shop with questions changing and not following the regular flow of national debates. As well as some of Obama so called promises, saying he is going to get the troops out of Iraq ASAP/ as opposed to what he said the other night when saying”we need to be as careful getting our troops out of iraq as we were careless sending them in” Translation: Im not really going to pull our troops out of Iraq any faster then anyone else because of the situation it would leave the region in, besides if i did id just move them to afghan soil.

Also McCain has helped pass more things in the senate on both sides of the table where obama has dont nothing but get a paycheck.

McCain the insane!
This could work. The MEDIA has to stay out of it-. Let the people ask questions and judge for themselves. Along with the media staying out of it you also have to keep the career politicians out also.
As usual, the two party system can’t stand the heat and will stay out of the kitchen!
Fox News owes it to the American Voter’s to include in any so called Town Hall meeting they may brodcast, the other Candidate running for the Office of President of the United States. Bob Barr, Libertarian Party, he is as legitimate as either McCain or Obama. He is also the only one running who remembers the U.S. has a Constitution and a Bill of Right’s. Any Town Hall Debate that does not include Mr. Barr will be a Media Hack Job and an insult to the Voter’s of this Country. We as American’s already know Obama’s “Socialist Spiel” and McCains “One World Order” leanings.
“FAIR AND BALANCED?”…”AMERICA’S ELECTION HEADQUARTERS?”
THIS WILL BE DETERMINED AT A LATER DATE!
America, Love It for what it could be Or Lose it to the “Two Party System!”
obama 2008 no no
Barack wants scripted debates where he just gives a speech. Why? Because he does not want to be nailed down to specifics. For example, he was very, very clear when he responded that he would hold no-precondition talks with Ahmadinejad, yet he failed to calculate how much this would distress Jewish voters and most Americans. So now he is in full reverse mode! Too bad he provided details and justifications for his plan for no-precondition talks. Own up to your mistake, man. Because Obama is so inexperienced, he is actually having to develop foreign policy decisions off the cuff instead of based on deliberate plan.
Whatsa matter Barack? Chicken of an unscripted event where your cronies don’t get to decide the questions? We all remember what happened when you were given questions from actual skeptics during the ABC debate - deer in the headlights. Clinton crushed you like an old soda can.
Question and answer format raises the possibility that someone will actually delve into your left-wing plans for this country, and demand specifics. You will no longer be able to provide a blank vision for voters to project their hopes into. Other countries that have enacted socialist programs like those you hope to bring have appalling tax rates on the middle class, yet you pretend that only the rich will bear the burden. The numbers don’t even some close to adding up. Your curtain is about to be pulled away, and your policies, like your racist associations, are going to be exposed to the full light of day. And your arrogant, effite, smarter-than-thou personality will be on display once you stop getting everything you want. I hope you enjoy that nice house that Rezko partially bought for you, because you certainly aren’t going to be headed to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
I am curious about such an occurrence because it would satisfy my need to assess each candidate on the basis of leadership, policy and veracity. What better way to make a genuine assessment than to listen to the candidates’ positions on issues of: the economy, proposed programs and how they would be funded (specifically); taxes, taxes, taxes; the war in Iraq and each candidates’ actual plan on how he will proceed; education and what practical ways we can achieve success in our public schools without relying on old solutions like raising teacher salaries and throwing more money into programs that benefit and strengthen teacher unions at the expense of achieving success with students; government entitlement programs which perpetuate dependence at the expense of independence and consequent freedom; international relations and trade agreements; national security and the role of telecommunications as it directly affects and protects us against our enemies; illegal immigration and border control and most importantly the appointment of justices to the Supreme Court. I do not want to hear long-winded esoteric speeches void of substance and content. And I do not want to hear any references to the “Bush/McCain” presidency. If that is all Sen. Obama has to offer in the way of substance, he can refrain from participating. John McCain, if you are listening, make a decision to be the person you claim to be without pandering to the liberals. You are a brave individual so risk it and make your case.
Of course John McCain would want a Town Hall style debate. Town Hall’s usually have very limited audience, anything larger wouldn’t be attended by McCain supporters and give Obama a decisive edge. Right now the GOP’s best bet would be to reinstate Mitt Romney as Presidential candidate and excuse McCain for undisclosed reasons.
I don’t expect any townhall meetings between McCain and Obama. Why would Obama even show up? He has nothing to say but lies while he struts the stage like a Sunday Preacher, thumping his bible as if he’d even read it, screaming hell-fire and brimstone, while secretly negotiating with our enemies.
Every time he opens his mouth he shows us how little he knows and comprehends the American people. His only hope is to hide out until after the General Election and hope for the best.
Unfortunately, his best will rank among the worst presidencies in history.
Write in Hillary or Vote McCain
SOUNDS LIKE HE’S SCARED ALREADY
Okay, so John McCain seems like the safer choice. He has experience in the senate. His focus is national security, and he’s portrayed as a “good ol’ boy”. However, where is his merits on issues concerning our economy. Do we need someone who’s gonna stay commited to a war that is bringing our economy to ruins? John McCain wants to hold town hall meetings, appearing to be the type of guy that puts the american people’s opinion first. In one of his speeche’s, he said he is going to continue this war regardless. So is really concerned about the american people. He seems like he is not open to the opinions of the american people. Much like George Bush. In a related matter, how is his temperment? He seems quick to the trigger. Do we really need a military politician who is gung ho? Don’t get me wrong, I respect the military, but just don’t think McCain is three dementional.
Now, I clearly favor democrats, and I see some potential with McCain, but it seems to me like he’s going to focus on many of the same issues as bush, not putting national security first, but making this war a priority. There hasn’t been any concrete proof that this war has been in our best interest. It’s time for change.
What is Barak Obama’s credentials? What are his beliefs? Can we trust him? He’s helped fight for those less fortunate in Illinois. He’s focused on the right issues i.e like our economy (instead of focusing on a foreign affairs that give U.S citizens a back seat) We are not very clear on his beliefs. However, we also don’t have any concrete proof that his beliefs (religious in particular) have or will interfer with his political decision making.
By the way, we want a democratic leader, right? Some right wing supporters agree, just not Barak Obama. With the democrats now controlling the house, senate, I’m sure no presidential decisions will be made without their input.
Also, To be objective, I believe he can be more compassionate towards individual americans and not just americans, much like Hillary. Barak can show more of a personal side and not come accross with his head held high to the sky.
Obama will never agree to this. Without his speechwriters and time to rehearse, he sounds like a stumbling, bumbling fool who has no idea what he’s talking about.
