Clinton: My Obituary Has Yet To Be Written

Clinton spoke with reporters in San Juan after her Puerto Rico victory before taking off on a 6 hour flight to South Dakota — telling them “my political obituary has yet to be written.”

“I think I have a stronger case than a lot of people who press their case much further,” she said. “Its not over ’til its over.”

Clinton said she expected to add 133,000 votes onto her popular vote lead coming out of Puerto Rico, and hoped it would signal her relative strength in November. “Senator Obama a few months ago said that this will come down to whoever has the popular vote and the delegates, because they’ve never been separated before. And I think it’s only now that we are finishing these contests that people are going to actually reflect who’s our stronger candidate,” she said. “I believe I am, and I’m going to make that case. And at some point, it will either be accepted or it wont. But I feel very strongly about making it.”

Her audience is the ever-shrinking group of uncommitted superdelegates, of which she’ll need nearly 90% to win the nomination. But Clinton pointed out that even committed superdelegates can change their minds. “With us in the front of the cabin is a superdelegate that went from me to Senator Obama and now is back with me in the course of a matter of weeks,” she said — referring to Virgin Islands superdelegate Kevin Rodriquez. “This has been such an intense process I don’t think that has been a lot of time for reflection of the sort that I’m advocating.

As for when the Democratic primary battle will be officially over, Clinton gave few hints. Asked what she’d do after Tuesday’s final primaries, the New York Senator said “I’m sort of a day at a time person and we’ll see when Tuesday, or the day after Tuesday comes.”

And she wouldn’t say whether she’d fight for Michigan delegates her campaign has said were wrongly awarded to Obama by the DNC’s Rules Committee. “I thought Michigan was in violation of the rules so we’re going to decide how to proceed, and depending upon what the outcome of that decision we will either mount a challenge or not,” she said.

But, for now, she sounded like a candidate committed to plowing ahead. “I think the evidence is accumulating that I am the stronger candidate, stronger candidate in the states we have to anchor and win in and the stronger candidate in the so called swing states and among swing voters,” Clinton said. “I have put together a much broader coalition that by every independent analysis gets me to the 270 electoral vote margin necessary for victory.”

“I don’t think any of us that have gone through this historical, unprecedented process want to end up with anyone other than a Democrat in the White House this January, and I’m going to make that case. I will continue to make that case.”

Keep on fighting Hillary. The American people need you. I think you got robbed by the convention. Obama got a bunch of delegates he didn’t earn. I do believe you would be an even better President than Bill.
Montana and SD check out Obama before you vote, don’t believe the fancy speeches. He’s politics as usual. Check out how he got elected IL Senator. How he smeared his opponents so that he wound up being the only one on the ballot. He played the typical dirty Chicago politics to the T and he won. And don’t tell me Chicago politicans aren’t the most notoriously crooked ones in the US, I lived there for over 35 years I know how they operate. Obama’s campaign manager Axelrod is a close associate of Chicago Mayor Daley with his ties to the Chicago underworld. Daley has been the Mayor of Chicago for most of my life. No one dares run against him. Obama is one of his inner group, another questionable associate of Obama’s. Strange how many crooks and people on the fringe of breaking the law he knows.

I think the Democratic party is garbage and the media has been extremely crule to Hillary. Obama will win the nomination because the media decided it to be so. Obama has been given a free pass to have relationships with shady and racist people and allowed to call professional women “sweety”… if my manager would called me sweety and not the rest of his staff including men, I would be very upset, but I guess it’s okay for a president to refer to women that way.

God help America if the people elect this man to become our president, but don’t complain afterwards…

As of myself, my friends and family, we will be voting Republican for the first time in our lives.

The Democratic party and the media will not take away my right!

Hillary has handed the Oval Office to McCain. She has split the party and brought the mindless feminists to a frenzied state. This is actually good news for the country. Neither one of the underqualified entitlement candidates will win.

Hillary Clinton is as Rick Flair the wrestler would say: “the dirtiest player in the game”. I am seriously considering selling my Bill Clinton autograph letters from the White House. I have become so disillusioned with her and him. I no longer respect or admire him or her. I once considered him a role model. I only hope that both President Clinton and Hillary will consider the loss of a great legacy, before they continue on. Bill Clinton wrote in a 1997 letter to me: “It is of great importance for the future of our nation that we expand that common ground, focusing more on what unites us than what divides us.” I would refer President Clinton to his own words.

I quote Donna Brazille: “My grandma told me that when you change the rules in the middle or at the end of the game, it’s called cheating.”

My letter to the Florida Democratic Party:

Several months ago, you asked for my input regarding the Florida delegate situation. I responded via your website and informed you that if the DNC denies our full delegate seating, I will leave the Democratic Party, and support John McCain this November.

Yesterday, the Democratic Party showed their loyalty to a politcian, at the expense of Florida & Michigan voters and at the expense of every American’s right to a fair election. Barack Obama and the Democratic Party have fought to deny rather than defend the rights of Americans to participate in our election process. It is clear that the Democratic Party no longer represents me or any American who values the right to vote or the right to a fair election.

As such, I am leaving the Democratic Party and will no longer support Democratic candidates. I will be mailing my “Change of Party” registration to our Supervisor of Elections tomorrow morning.

HILLLARY SUPPORTERS—WRITE IN HILLARY CLINTON ON YOUR NOVEMBER PRESIDENTIAL BALLOT! The worst that could happen would be that McCain wins the presidency as he likely will anyway should Obama get the nomination. The best case scenario would be that we American voters show not only our own country and our corrupted government/media machine, but the world, the true will of the majority of the people of this country by electing the next president of the United States of America by an honest, straight-forward write-in vote rather than through a corrupt system. Let’s send a message that the “…government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” (excerpt from President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, November 19, 1863)–at least, not without a fight to the VERY finish as our candidate is doing for us!!!

Comment by Rj

I feel bad for my fellow Americans who are willing to take the risk of wanting to elect someone (Obama) who has a limited experience in leadership than to somebody who has immense expertise on all problems and relevant issues that our Country need to address and solve right now.
Obama supporters should ask themselves: “Why Obama is avoiding to debate Senator Clinton since their last debate in ABC? Saying that they have debated enough. Is this because of his “Lack of knowledge” in every debatable subject that a future President of our Country should know? He is not running as Senator or congressman! He is running to be the President of the most Powerful Country in the whole world! He must be equipped with wisdom and knowlegde in order to govern this Huge Country of ours in the right direction! If he is afraid and scared of pressures in a mere Debate - How can he handle the pressure inside the Oval office?

SuperDelegates you still have time to think not only who’s the best fit to this Position but who can beat John McCain in November?

Obama has a lot of Baggage that he need to address… Obama is now trying to get rid of them one by one.
- Now Obama is saying that he is no longer a member of the Trinity Church?
- What’s next?????

DNC Leaders should be mindful of these Baggage!!!

A) Barrack Obama offered to seat the full delegation and was turned down

B) McCain only got half votes from Florida as well - The RNC cut thier votes in half as well - so your statement makes no sense

Comment by Angst

Obama was not on the ballot in MI which in essence means he was not running in that presidential primary. “Uncommitted” is a legally recognized ballot spot and for the RBC/DNC to award those delegates to someone who was NOT on the ballot screams of dishonesty.

The Republicans will use what the RBC/DNC did in ads against the Dems and the Dems have no one to blame but themselves.

Since when does a candidate HAVE to be named PRIOR to the convention? What is the purpose of the convention if not to take a vote and select the candidate?

I can clearly see that Hillary supporters are just as childish and self rightous as Hillary is. If she is not the nominee you will all vote for McCain so she can run again in 2012. Let’s not vote for the best one for President for our country [which I believe is our god given duty] let’s just vote for so Obama looses. Like that is realistic. Makes sense though. Most of Hillary’s supporters are not realistic just sore loosers. By the way I am not either Democrat or Republican. I am Independent! I also live in NY so I know what Hillary is NOT capable of doing and I am experiencing what she IS capable of which is why My home of 35 years is up for sale and I am looking elsewhere so I can afford to live and not be taxed to death.

Hillary, your obituary has been written for a long time now. However, denial is not just a river in the East. Do the Democrats a favor and call it a day because if you steal the nomination with your rethorec I’m going to vote for McCain just to spite you.

Comment by nonya

I don’t think that stating your superdelegate switched from her to obama, back to her, is going to help matters. It just shows what kind of delegates she can attract, the same kind as her. Take a stance, move two steps to the right, and then turn around and change your mind yet again. Someone who has so many indecisions is undeserving of the title and responsibilities of Commander in Chief.

Comment by TEXANS for HILLARY

The media can spin this any way they want, the fact is that Americans who once voted for the Clinton camp want to see the Clintons back in the White House so we can see better times, and a balanced budget.

Should the DNC deny her the nomination or fail to at least put her on the ticket as VP, then most supporters, over 17 million, will rebel over the unfairness of this race and go south to MCCAIN.

It is common knowledge that the last 2 elections were blown by Republican tampering, and stupid mistakes by the DNC. After watching this race, I can see that they have not learned by their mistakes.

Unfortunate for us, since our very survival is at risk should we have to settle for an old, senile, but still prefered second choice.

We dems do not know Obama, are repulsed by his wife, and do not care to know anyone who is forced apon the voters by smoke-filled back room deals.

This is a sad commentary on what many had hoped would be a joyous exercize of democracy.
Democracy is dead if our candidate, Senator Clinton, is short-changed. Supporters love Bill, and
look toward to that promised “dream ticket”.

Comment by Jimbo

I am a McCain man, but in all fairness the DNC is making a major mistake in pushing for Obama instead of Hillary. McCain will probably crush Obama in Nov, but Hillary would be much tougher for McCain to beat. EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS, BUT THE DNC IS TOO CHICKEN TO ADMIT THIS. Obama has only won one really big state - his own (IL). That pretty much tells it all. He has no chance in Nov. Then, hopefully a major house cleaning with take place. GOOD DEMS NEED TO TAKE BACK THEIR PARTY AND KICK THE CRAZIES OUT………AND… THAT WILL BE A GOOD THING!! MCCAIN/ROMNEY 08

It has been stated that there will be a massive outpouring of votes by Super delegates in support of Barack Obama following the last Primary elections. I have a few questions about the Super Delegate Voters. Why is it that there are still so many super delegates to cast their votes ? In particular, What will Barack Obama do over the next several hours that will prove that he is the more capable candidate? What new laws or Senate Bills has he implemented that show any more ability to run the country?

The Barack Obama now is the same Barack Obama that has been in view for the last year. He has done nothing different. In fact the thing that has become apparent is that he has drawn more negative press with the well publicized controversies and he has lost more primary elections over the course of the last four months and has shown that he has problems winning the votes of middle class white Americans in the swing states. This somewhat downward spiral in popularity would seem like the most riduculous reason to all of a sudden begin to endorse a candidate for the Presidency of the United States. In fact it would almost suggest that the super delegates are very confused individuals.

Super Delegates need to stop thinking of their selfish agendas such as their own re-elections and personal political careers and for once cast a vote of importance which is for the future of the American People. If this vote is for Obama then so be it but do so with the will of the people in mind and with the strategic intention of winning back the White House.

I am an African American Male and I support Hillary Clinton

It is very sad as a fellow blogger noted that this inexperienced senator that stands for CHANGE (did anyone count how many times he said the word change) is in this position. I will be voting for John McCain even if Hillary is on his ticket. Hopefully she will say no thank you and Obama will be left empty handed and able to rejoin his church that I’m sure is keeping his pew warm.
