Obama Camp Weighs in on McClellan Book

The Obama campaign released the following statement on former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan’s new book, which criticizes both the Administration and the press corps on the lead up to the war in Iraq.

“It’s not news that this Administration engaged in spin and deception to lead us into a war that should’ve never been authorized and never been waged, the only question now is, do we continue George Bush’s failed policy in Iraq or do we change it?  John McCain is promising four more years of the exact same policy in Iraq that asks everything of our brave troops and nothing of the Iraqi government, while Barack Obama wants to begin a phased withdrawal of our troops and refocus our efforts on going after al-Qaeda in Afghanistan,” said Obama spokesman Hari Sevugan.

Isn’t it amusing how the Obama supporters cry out that Obama is not guilty by association to Rev. Wright, Ayers, Rescko and et al.

But, the Obama supporters claim that John. S. McCain is guilty by political association, with George W. Bush.

Kind of a double standard for the Obama supporters, golden savior!

If the DNC gives the nomination to Barack H. Obama there will be such a backlash as no Democratic Party has ever seen.

The staunch Hillary R. Clinton supporters will not unite and support Obama, we do no believe in him and his weakness as a leader is to obvious.

He is an empty suit created by Axelrod for the sheer sport of proving his theory that he can dress up anyone and sell them to the guillable American public.

Gee. It’s been awful quiet around here for the last 24 hours. I think I might call it, “The Day the GOP Stood Still”.

What I find shicking about the White House reaction is that if you listen to what Bush staffers are saying. The are uisng phrases such, “..betrayed the President’s trust..”, and the like.

As if keeping Bush’s secrets are more important than an obligation to preserve the public trust and present the actual truth.

Talk about spin…that comment lacks credibility because John McCain has not pushed for “four more years of the same” in Iraq wherein we do all the work and the Iraqi people don’t do anything. Sheesh! On top of that, Obama has flip-flopped and now wants to go after al-Qaeda in Afghanistan…a position he conveniently borrowed from Hillary Clinton. He originally was going to bring the troops home and go back to the Middle East if we needed to control al-Qaeda. Anyone who can read or listen to television knows McCain’s position on Iraq…and anyone with any memory will recall that Hillary Clinton wanted to go after al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. On top of all that, Bush isn’t running for re-election. This McC!e!lan guy is just trying to make a quick buck before Bush leaves office. His book would be worthless this time next year cuz no one would care. He is an opportunist. He better hope his book sells millions because no one in their right mind would ever hire him…talk about untrustworthy and disloyal! He has no credibility with this American.

In his new book, former Bush spokesperson, Scott McClellan, asserts that the Iraq war was a mistake. He goes on to state that wars should only be waged as a necessity, and, in his opinion, the Iraq war was not a war of necessity. Further, he claims that the American press was complicit in the process by not asking President Bush the very tough questions one would expect from a free press, when there are plans being made for a war.

I can remember making a similar statement to Philadelphia Inquirer columnist, Trudy Rubin, who responded that the press had done enough and that they had asked tough questions. Of course I disagreed, but this further demonstrates how the liberal press is unable to hold itself accountable for being on the wrong side of an issue.

My guess is that now, given McClellan’s strong condemnation of the media, and its role in the Iraq war, we will have a serious discussion about how all media, liberal and conservative, did not do its sacred duty of holding the most powerful person in the United States of America accountable for his dumb choices and costly actions.

Maybe now that Mr. McClellan has stated that the American press was complicit in Bush’s decision to go to war, Trudy Rubin will listen. After all, he looks like the kind of person who can make such a claim.

I’m looking forward to reading McClellan’s book What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception

And it is becoming more clear that obama is a compulsive liar. Maybe he should check his own “baggage” , before commenting on someone else?

Most of the Barak supporters think that we take his books in the wrong context - so I should say dido to them on this book.

Big tough words from a guy who won’t go back to Iraq to see the improvements and would rather meet with Iran. I forgot, he never served in the military either.

As for McClellan, he’ll make money on his book, won’t he! It’s sensationalizing.

Mccain will not surrender??? to who?? False war. We need to apologize to the people of Iraq for destroying their Nation. Without global credibility, the US cannot win the war on terror.
Now Mcain wants a treaty with russia. Will it be b4 or after he expells russia from the G8???
this guy is nuts

Wow! The spinners are truly spinning-the war-the war-the war! Bush lied. Of course the media has nothing to do with this-Staements are made and fact checking doesn’t seem to be done. Perhaps if the media had stuck with THE FACTS we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in. As far as Mr. McClellan pundits are saying he was treated unfairly-really-whenever someone says this they should have to provide the facts. I’m amazed that one person knew everything going on and what was said in meetings that he never attended-now he isn’t giving FACTS he’s giving us his take on what may have gone on and that is not good enough for me or should it be for anyone-especially the MEDIA.

Exactly, this book is not some new revelation. Anyone with any intelligence knew this was a illadvised war from the start.

This is the same thing he argues everytime he talks about McCain. Maybe he should come up with something new. While McCain doesn’t want to stay aty war longer than he has to, HE ALSO DOESN’T WANT TO PULL OUR TROOPS OUT BEFORE IT IS TIME…..DOING SOMETHING THAT COULD CAUSE MORE HARM THAN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ths is really sad. This confirms to me that Bush did not win the election against Gore. I do not trust anything from this administration. Republicans stop that cowboy mentality it is going to come to an end soon. Do what is right! Vote Democrat or dont vote at all. Do not put McCain-McBush in office.

20/20 hindsight is great. McClellan is doing notihng but making money off a book that he knows the left will buy. However, I will give this to BO….he voted against the war…but so did most of the left wing, socialist agenda, anti-American individuals. Isn;t it great that BO can run for President in this country that is free enough to let him and anybody run?

Oh, I am not a Bush supporter..so don’t blog me on this and neither am I a Clinton supporter. I am foremost an American that believes in country first. Too bad there are no candidates that believe that way.

I’m sure McClellan will join the Obama camp. That is where the money is and where all traitors end up.

Even before the Iraq war, many people knew that Bush was manipulating the information concerning WMDs but to add on to what McClellan had shared, there was a conspiracy.. Bush was only part as well as the media and FCC.. The Iraq war wasn’t about WMDs, spread of democracy, not even about oil…but according to Phillip Zelikow who was on the 911 commission “It was all about Israel” and the NWO agenda.
