Right after I was born, my father came back from Viet Nam with epilepsy. I am a registered Republicain, and will vote for John McCain this November, however I find the explanation plausible that Sen. Obama simply told the story the way it was told to him for all of his life. Most Americans can’t even name the last 12 Presidents, let alone tell you who liberated Aushwitz. It wasn’t like he was there, unlike Sen. Clinton’s little story of sniper fire, and bombs exploding as her helicopter spiraled to the ground, I’m surprised that she was not the pilot of the harrowing flight of fantasy. Her story was a bold face lie, she knew it was a lie when she told, and she still tried to talk her way out of it, even when confronted with the truth, hmmmm. who does that remind me of, oh wait a minute, “What is the definition of is”. One lie begets another then another until finally the truth is no longer recongized by the liar. Sen. Obama needs to distance himself from the Clinton fantasy tour, and start running against Sen. McCain if he wants to stand a chance to be our next President, the longer he debates and battles the Clintons, the less chance he has of beating McCain. In an appalling gaffe Sunday, journalist Liz Trotta made a distasteful joke and lumped presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama in with United States enemy Osama Bin Laden, saying she wished them both dead.

Trotta was discussing Obama opponent Hillary Clinton’s citing of the RFK assassination during the 1968 Democratic primary contest as a reason for her staying in the race.

“And now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, um uh, Obama - well, both if we could.” she said laughing. The hosted merely joined in the joke with her, saying “talk about how you really feel,” and quickly moved on.

Both McCain and Hillary have been chastised for their mis-speaks by the Obama supporters. At least he should have gotten the ‘great-uncle’ part correct rather than said ‘uncle’. An then the camp is incorrect too. The rest of the story is hearsay and might be in error as well. Mental health is an important issue that needs more discussion.

I do not think that Senator Obama intentionally meant to mislead anyone. I have an interest in history, and, years ago, I wanted to learn about my family’s history, during the time of the depression, and WWII.

Seventy years have passed since that time, and my aunts and uncles recanted their recollection of that historical period in slightly different ways. It was quite a challenge to sort through their stories, and piece everything together, like pieces of a puzzle. There were many times when I aksed a relative a question about this time period, and the answer was, “gee, I’m not sure”, or “I don’t remember”.

I can identify with Barack Obama, and this story, and I think that his “misspeak” was an honest mistake.

To be clear, Obama isn’t without faults. After all, this isn’t the first time he has confused incidents in history. Earlier in the race he claimed his parents participated in a civil rights march in Selma, Ala. Not true. His parents didn’t participate in the march, and he wasn’t conceived during the 1965 march (as he said in one of his speeches). He was born in 1961. It is interesting since the “misspeak” was part of his pre-approved, scripted and practiced speech which is the only way he seems to be able to speak with any fluidity. And, this “misspeak”, based on the review of the video, did not have any breaks in the delivery. Since we all know Obama has difficulty speaking unscripted, as in the debates he verbally fumbled through, it seems he needs to take his staff or himself to task on this error.

Whether it was Buchenwald or Auschwitz, it was a concentration camp. The substance of the story is what happened there and not the name of the place. The fact is that it was a 100% true story.
